God of the gays Blaziken. That speed, that power, and that sky uppercut. Strangely enough, I have never owned one. Empoleon is way better as a starter. That regalia...that poise! Piplup is cute as ********.

I always went with Charmander when I had the choice, I've always loved most of the fire pokemon they've had in the games. Sure, they made a dumb move making Charizard a flying type instead of a dragon type, but they've started moving in the right direction after Charizard X.
... now that I think about it, I feel so old. Like I should be sitting on the porch and waving my cane as younger kids play Pokemon X and Y.
"Back in MY day, we didn't have no fancy running shoes or roller blades and no mega evolutions!
We had to WALK everywhere, and if we wanted to go fast we had to wait until we got our bikes! And we didn't have no fancy weather effects or day or night time! And if you wanted to get experience point? Then you were s**t outta' luck if you fought all the trainers cause you could only battle 'em once! If you needed more you had to grind on Victory Road in the cave for however long it took!"

Dude, dragons have almost always been represented as lizard-like in mythological pictures and stories. Therefore Charizard and his previous evolutions can be considered dragon-like. Charmander and Charmeleon simply represent a type of dragon without wings (those have been represented in mythology) and Charizard can be thought of as the typical representation of a dragon with wings.

I know that, but I am saying is that they probably did not intend for it to be a dragon in the first place because they were stuck on a lizard theme. Salamander, chameleon, lizard.

If they were stuck on a lizard theme then why did they give Charizard wings? And what about the real chameleon pokemon that came later, Kecleon? The same reason they make any pokemon I imagine, because they can. I am not arguing that he can not be a dragon or that he should not be a lizard. I am just telling you the logic behind him being a flying type instead of a dragon. He is a fire lizard, then a fire lizard, and then he gains wings, therefore becoming a fire lizard who can fly. Kecleon is irrelevant as they made Charizard before they even knew Pokemon would be big enough to warrant more Pokemon. That is my two cents as to why Charizard might be a flying type originally instead of a dragon.
