The question surprised Candy Dandy. She had never discussed this before with anyphony, but now that her shop was gaining loyal customers and she didn't have to work so hard to advertise it, the mare found herself wondering what it would be like to have foals. It certainly helped that those that were in her classes in school like C.C were now proud parents. But she kept her desire for foals a secret from everphony. It certainly wouldn't do to just go find a random phony in the hopes of babbens now would it?
She took a moment to collect her thoughts, long enough for the waiter to return with their dessert before answering.
"I think I would like to have foals someday." she said, poking at her pie with her fork. "I mean, it would be nice ot have little ones running around. Someone I can teach, ya know?" She took a bite of pie to keep herself from proclaiming her want for babbens too loudly.

Latte nodded. She definitely understood.
"Lately I've been warming to the idea," she admitted, wringing her hooves a bit nervously. "I don't have a husband to have them with, though. Not even a boyfriend. Perhaps some genetic donation would be in order..." Her voice trailed off, and she tilted her head at Candy. Perhaps...
... ah, best to not even mention it. Candy seemed so anxious already!
"I don't much mind teaching them, I just... I don't know. It seems so... rewarding."

Latte looked very nervous as well. Candy wondered why she would bring up a subject that she was uncomfortable with...
"Genetic donation?" she asked after the other mare trailed off, tilting her head. "You mean, like two phonies give up a hair or somethin', and foals come out of it?" Why hadn't she heard of this before? It seemed like a huge deal for nophony to mention.
"I know what you mean." she said, nodding. "I've been talking with foals that come by the shop, and I seem to be teaching them here and there a little about life. Always makes me smile." she smiled at the thought, and kept eating her pie.

"Oh, yes, that is a nice feeling, isn't it?" Latte smiled. She liked to think that she had helped a foal or two on their path of life. At the very least she had helped them through their day. "And yes! I hear it's pretty common for the single phony and... sometimes can happen on accident? I'm not sure how that works, but I'm always careful."
...maybe she should take part in something like that, though. It wouldn't be so bad to have some little ones trotting around the house...
"I bet your shop is very popular with the little ones, huh?"

Accident? Oh dear THAT sounded less than ideal! Did someone follow phonies around and take their drink cups for DNA or something??
Candy nodded, finishing off her pie. "That it is. Mostly in the summer when foals have too much time on their hooves and allowances to spend."
"I bet your shop has an older set that comes in. Means you miss out on all the kids shouting." she chuckled, pushing her plate away from her. "That sure was a nice pie! I wonder if I cold convince the chef to tell me what his secret is..." she trailed off.

"I doubt it," Latte giggled. Culinary specialists rarely wanted to give out their own recipes. She wasn't about to share any of her custom blends!
"I do get mostly adults, it's true," she replied then, pushing her own empty plate away. "Kids like it too, though! I sell cocoa and lots of milky, sweet things. I once got a little foal in who convinced me to give him some coffee. I wonder where he is now... Anyway, yes. I can't say I get much shouting. We try to keep the place quiet and neat."

Candy pondered this a moment, then nodded. "You're probably right. I certainly wouldn't share something this good!"
The waiter arrived with the bill, which Candy immediately slid over to her side with her hoof. She offered lunch after all! "Coffee? Goodness! That's pretty crazy. Although I had one foal with a pirate scarf come in asking about grog, which apparently has rum in it!"
She placed the money in the folder, and took a long last drink from her glass.
"Shall we?"

"Oh, Candy..." Latte watched the money disappear, her ears folding back. She wasn't one to fight against insistence, but she felt bad for her friend paying. She resolved to smile soon after though, and nodded at her friend's offer.
"Thank you, Candy. I had a wonderful time." and she's eaten quiche! That was something to put in the record books for sure.

"It's no big, you can get the next one!" she said when she noticed Latte's ears. She didn't mind paying half of the time!
"This was a lot of fun! And we definitely have to do lunch again!"
