Actually...
Fidel Castro's original expectation was to get killed with his buddy, Mr. Guevera, while liberating Cuba from France.
The U.S. came in to help, and the Cubans said "piss off".
They didn't listen, and then they thought that they then deserved control over Cuba.
The Cubans didn't agree.
So, they chose some leaders.
The noble "Che" Guevera, and the Charismatic Fidel Castro, two effective Cuban Guerillas throughout the war.
Other than that, nobody else really matters.
Both were dedicated to a union of not just the country, but also a union of the world.
