Melvin clamped a hand to his mouth, trying not to laugh. Unable to speak, he shook his head before he lowered his hand. "No you don't."

He pressed his lips tight and tried not to smile, shaking his head with a muffle. "..no."

Rin squinted suspiciously for a few moments longer before... not at all. She seemed to relax again. "Ugh, it took my whole life to get it as long as it was."

The tone made him somber quickly, and he breathed out before scooting closer to her. "You had very lovely hair." He said, and wished there was any hair left he could have affectionately moved behind her ear or out of her face. Since there was none, he wondered about touching her ear or cheek instead, but decided that being this close was already too much contact. He had to be careful.
"But you'll have lovely hair like that again. This is just temporary, and it's better than loosing a a-" He paused, about to say arm. "..leg."

Rin fussed before moving to try and lean against him, "Then I'll really be lop-sided."

He let her lean, looking down at her, and shifted so that she could be more comfortable - as comfortable as someone that bandaged could be. "Not really. You could lean on me."

He looked at the top of her head. "I don't know. Maybe we could get your a knitted hat. Then again, Rep has a lot of fur. Maybe a coon-skin hat?" He joked, smiling down at her. "You'd be very fashionable."

Rin laughed at the ridiculousness of that mental image, "Maybe I can trade him some 'herbs' for yarn."

Melvin laughed a little at that. "For what? His hot chocolate? I've seen him try to cook. It was really bad." It was when he and Rep both had kitchen duty which later lead to a fight. From what he saw, Rep had no concept of taste or the vulnerabilities of the human stomach.
