Pirimus felt rather than watched the antivenom make it's way into Wyatt's system. He forced the liquid to move faster than normal, hitting as many spots as it could along the way. Normally he would only give a small dosage and administer help, but with the full dosage in his system Pirimus could only hope that it equaled out the time needed for it's delivery.

He heard screaming and realized now it wasn't only Wyatt, or Gabriel, but himself. Pirimus felt as if a great knife were digging into him, ripping the magic out like strands in order to keep the fox alive. He tried to hold it in as best he could, but every time he was jostled a new one sprang up.

Quintessa kept a firm hold on Wyatt's hand, feeling the heat pressing through it onto her. His skin felt like the inside of a clay oven! Seeing how his thrashing was increasing, she moved to his lower half, the half that wasn't being held, and tried to keep it steady to help in the only way she could.

Gabriel squeezed his eyes tighter, he tried to block out all the noise, and focus on his brother. He couldn't spare any energy worrying about how much energy the healer was surely using up... He had to break through all that. "Wyatt! Listen! It's in! The anti-venom is in! You can start feeling better now!" he yelled against Wyatt's chest at the top of his lungs, trying to reach whatever was in there. He doubted it would work, but he would try anything at this point. He'd hop around on one leg if it would have helped!

Why was everyone smothering him? Why weren't they letting him breathe? ..Why did he need to breathe? If he stopped, it would be over... Then, the pain began to lessen... Slowly... a little bit at a time... And he could hear Gabriel... The voice was so faint... His throat began to open up, and Wyatt took eager gulps of cool air. The fire within was steadily cooling... He heard Gabriel's voice again. It sounded more enthusiastic. Good... With the healing process kicking into gear, his consciousness shut itself off, passing out cold as the rest of his body headed for normal.

Feeling Wyatt's tremors lessen, Gabriel let out a gasp of relief. It was working! "Good! Good job, Wyatt! Keep on coming!" His enthusiasm stalled as Wyatt went limp. "Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! I didn't say to pass out!" he growled, groaning and dropping his head again once he was sure his brother was still breathing. He could feel how much cooler Wyatt's skin was already, and that heart beat calming down. He wrapped his arms around his brother, not caring how he might look to his wife right then... He was too grateful to care.

"Stop being so damn stubborn, and let that stuff help you, damn it!" Quintessa hollered, pinning him down as best she could until she felt the movements begin to calm. Fearing the worst, she snapped her head around, and felt a physical weight lift off his shoulders. "Spirits alive..." Tessa murmured, slumping against his fox half. When she was sure Wyatt was still alive, she moved closer to Gabriel, and wrapped her arm about his waist, holding him tight as he held his brother.

Pirimus exhaled deeply, lolling his head up to look at the sky, shaking limbs hung limp at his sides. He took as many deep breaths as he could, but found each movement as tiring as the last. He would live...he'd gotten to him in time...Now all he needed to do was get him back to the shop, and-

As one arm leaned a little too far to the side, so did the rest of his body, but before he could fall completely over he heard a scuffle, and a pair of calloused hands were holding him up. "Woah, woah, take it easy." Tessa tried to keep him up as best she could, but the more she held on the more he was keen to lean onto her. "Gabriel, can you carry Wyatt? We need to get them back to town." Quintessa looked around their surroundings, then back to her mate. "If there's one, there might be more."

Gabriel moved one hand to brush along Tessa's arm, but it was quickly back around Wyatt. He'd almost lost... No. Don't think about that. Almost, yes, but Wyatt was alive... Brushing a hand over his face, he looked up to see Tessa supporting the other feline.

"Yeah. I can," he murmured, though he felt a boost of energy at Tessa's warning. She was right. If there was one crazy naga out there, there were probably more waiting for the results. Being careful of the punctured shoulder, he pulled Wyatt up over his back. "Okay. Back to town. Gonna find you someplace to rest," he assured softly, following after his mate.

"Oh, uh, Tess... when I went to get the vial, his door was locked... I kinda broke it in... A few others saw me run outta there... They might be mad, thinking I stole something." Finally, a bashful smile rose. "Just a heads up if some angry mob charges at us."

With Pirimus assisting as best he could, Quintessa hoisted him onto her back and stood, holding arms about her neck with one hand, and her spear with the other. The cat weighed less than what she had thought; even though it was still more than she wanted to carry, she figured it must have been all the fur.

Tessa's steps had started out strong and smooth, trying her best not to jostle the male on her back, but Gabriel's words gave her pause. Slowly, she turned back to him, "So, what you're saying is they think you're a thief, and I'm a psychopath trying to kill him? I'm not even sure it's safe to go back now."

Pirimus gave a little weak chuckle. "Serves you right," He murmured, clearing his throat as he tried to sit up straighter. "I'll tell them it was a misunderstanding. You'll be fine, for now."

Gabriel's ears tipped back, wincing a little from her words. "Well, when you say it that way... Yeah. That's pretty much how it is." He looked at Pirimus, and pursed his lips. "Hey, um.. I'll be able to replace your door for you. Since I broke it..."

'You're too used to breaking things,' Wyatt's voice echoed in Gabriel's mind. He looked back at his unconscious brother, feeling his stomach clench again. "Come on, man.. Wake up soon," he murmured, turning forward again.

Seeing how weak the white feline was, Gabriel picked up his pace to walk at the other's open side. His own legs were tired from the sudden and extended sprint, but stubborn determination kept him going. If this guy was to help them in town, he had to stay awake, too. "So, what's your name, again?" He couldn't remember if Tessa had told them or not... His mind was too ruffled to think about something so trivial. "And what're you doing that got those naga in such a mood?"

"Gabriel, we're gonna be torched if we go back there!" Quintessa snapped, almost instantly regretting it. Tensions were high, and she tried to keep herself in check, but this situation had spiraled out of control way too fast. "Sorry, sorry- This just really stinks."

"It's Mahogany." Pirimus half-murmured, half slurred. Though he had raised himself, half of his face was buried in Quintessa's hair, and parts of his own had mixed in with it. He gave a little 'oomph' when the female started to walk again, finding himself being lulled to sleep by the gentle sway.

"Hmm?" Pirimus lazily opened his eyes and turned his head to face Gabriel. "Oh, sorry..." He felt his head lolling once more, and this time it was a gentle jostle by Quintessa that woke him. "Hrm, right, right...My name's Pirimus, son of...son of someone." The name was escaping him right now, and didn't seem to important. "I'm a healer...I just take venom from nagas though, after paying them, of course..." He yawned. "..and make antidotes. Same with poisons, but mostly venom. Guess some people didn't like it so much..."

"Well, I guess I could have taken the time to go look for a back door or window to break in through instead," he muttered, his eyes lowering, unable to even laugh at his own joke. He hadn't had time to be discreet. If he had been a minute later... His stomach churned a bit, and he focused on the feline again.

"Pirimus," he said to himself. That name did sound familiar. Probably business hear-say. "We work a bit with healing, me and my brother, though we don't have the magic for healing like you do. Our dad taught us about making mixtures with herbs and things." He hesitated, and chuckled softly. "For what it's worth, I'm glad you work with antivenom. Someone has to do it anyway."

"Gabriel...No, that's not what I..." Quintessa's ears flickered back, and she turned forward. This situation was her fault to begin with, her problem, so where was she to criticize the methods he'd used to save his brother?

"Oh, yes? What's your fathers name, sounds nice..." Like a little family of thick headed foxes. Perfectly normal. Somewhere it sounded extremely alarming that such a fox would even be around healing of another, but he didn't have the energy to bother with it right now. Pirimus smiled, and gave a chuckle of his own, "I'm glad to see that my efforts weren't in vain, though I would have preferred different circumstances."

As they entered the village Quintessa couldn't help, but to notice the shouting, not so very far off from where they were. Lights danced in the darkness. "This is going to get ugly..."
PostPosted: Mon Jan 20, 2014 8:09 pm

"Our father is Kincaid," he replied, now smiling a tiny bit. "And his mother is Willow. She's a cattaur with healing magic. Probably what got dad interested in all of it." He snorted sourly. "Yeah... Circumstances being different woulda definitely been nice."

His ears perked at the shouting ahead, and his jaw clenched at Tessa's warning. "Okay, Pirimus. You're gonna need to speech it up soon. You up to this?" He looked over to the weakened feline and frowned. Would the townsfolk really believe Pirimus wasn't simply being forced to defend them, as weak as he was? They couldn't waste time trying to convince the townsfolk of the misunderstanding... "Hey, I was joking about the back door thing, but is there one we can get in through? Avoid going through the angry mob?"

"Kincaid sounds familiar, but Willow...." He shook his head. Maybe his father would know the connection, but the names seemed to blur for him. Kincaid was a fox, then? Something wanted him to say yes, which would explain these foxes... "Are you a healer, then? Or is he one?" Pirimus nodded to Wyatt.

With Quintessa's hold there to support him, Pirimus was able to rise a little taller, and with much effort he rolled his head straight, blowing hair out of his eyes with a huff.

"There was another shop, wasn't there? One with friends of yours. I broke through their door, but it was in the back. I bet the town will be less inclined to investigate that place than the scene of the crime." Tessa tried to crane her head back, and could have sworn she saw genuine surprise on Pirimus' face. "Hey, what's that look for?"

"Forgive me, I just thought your head was full of rocks. It's surprising, is all." He nodded, and spurred her light a horse towards the right way. "Franklin, the bread baker. He'll let you in."

Quintessa didn't need assistance to find her way; she kept to the shadows as best she could, lying low and ducking when a light got a little close. She waited with baited breath until they came closer to the back of the shop...

"Whose there?"

Just their luck, Franklin would be out in the yard, tossing scraps into the woods. He squinted his eyes, and cursed, loudly, at seeing the familiar cat.

"Wait, please..." Pirimus pleaded, leaning his head around hers to get a look. "It's alright, Frank. Please, just take us inside. I'll explain there."

The older male wasn't so naive, but without much choice he rolled his eyes, and pushed open the door, stepping away so he could hold look out. "Damn right you're going to explain. ALL of ya."

"Not that we're actual healers by trade. We both just know how to do it. Give us access to the right herbs, and bam~" He sighed softly. They definitely could use a well-stocked apothecary right now. Something to support Pirimus, and something to heal Wyatt's shoulder, and get him to wake up.

A small growl slipped out as Pirimus implied Tessa in having a head of rocks, even though normal circumstances would have had him agreeing in a playful manner. Something about how hard-headed his wife could be. He stuck close behind the two. Hopefully this new place wasn't too far off...

The voice calling in warning made him freeze, only slowly stepping forward when Pirimus caught the baker's attention. Great... Did this guy have a ruined door as well? Once he was inside, he turned a needy look to the irritated male. "Before we explain... could you spare a few glasses of water for everyone, and a bar of soap and bandages? My brother's injured. I need to clean his wound still. Let me do that while they're explaining the rest of it. Please."

The growl hadn't gone unnoticed by their party. For Quintessa it served as a little pick me up, something that showed no matter what her mate had her back, but for Pirimus...It proved he wasn't out of the woods with these taur just yet.

"Yeah, yeah." Franklin snorted, closing the door behind them. It was obvious he'd done a shady patch job, but at least the whole was closed. "Washrooms upstairs, on the right, there's a bed up there to, for the lads." He motioned to the older stairwell that led to the above floor living space. The older, gruffer centaur moved to lift Pirimus from Quintessa, and when she moved away, he leaned in, "Don't think I've forgotten ya, lass. Give me the boy, and I'll forget what I saw for a while, okay?"

He slipped his arms about Pirimus, to help him stand before moving towards the stairs before he was cut off by Tessa.

"I'll start boiling some water to clean the wound." Quintessa ascended the steps, careful to keep her spear with her, and looked about the room. It was a small studio space, but clean, for that she was thankful. Sitting the spear next to the wall, she stripped off her cloak and moved about to fill a pot full of water from the barrel in the washroom before setting it on the small fire in the corner of the room.

Giving a small nod, he moved slowly to let the others get upstairs first. It would be a slow climb for him. He shifted Wyatt around to make sure there would be no stair-tumbling, and started the climb. "Dude. Your lazy butt is cramping my style," he huffed with a weak smile. "You're no fun when you're unconscious."

Heading over to the bed, he got Wyatt stretched out on his back, and put an extra sheet under the shoulder to be cleaned to keep the bed from getting wet or stained. He gave the wounds a closer look, and sighed heavily. They were deep, but Pirimus' aid had helped keep infection from setting in early. But since Pirimus' magic wasn't active now... Damned naga.

He fetched the soap and a clean cloth, and washed his hands before returning to the room. He walked over to the fireplace, and gave Quintessa a firm hug. "I'm sorry," he murmured, knowing she must be going through a lot right now. Being given a second innocent target, seeing Wyatt go through that, having to face the friends of the male she'd been supposed to kill... Rough day. Giving her a kiss, he turned and took the boiling water from the fireplace. "I suppose it's good he's unconscious, for the time being," he said softly, sighing as he soaked a cloth with the hot water. Soaping it up, he began cleaning each puncture, needing to dig the cloth into each one to be sure they were clean.

With Franklin's help, Pirimus was able to ascend to the second flight, though he had to be dragged to another corner of the room. Taking a blanket from the bed he made a soft pad for the cattaur to rest upon, all the while staying as far from the medical action as possible.

"Do you have any of the-" Pirimus began, reaching his hand out for Franklin only to be hushed.

"Give me a second, and I'll get it," his friend teased him, keeping his voice light. The larger male made his way across the room to a cabinet, and came back with a sort of natural salve, of which he sat down next to Wyatt on the bed. "To clean it. It'll keep the infection out."

Tessa didn't feel much better after the hug, but it was touching. She shook her head, turning her head up to match his lips, she gave him a deeper kiss than the one she was sure he would leave her with. It was a rough day for all of them, and no matter what she was going through Gabriel needed her there with him. If it wasn't enough to be mated to an Assassin, he'd had to watch his brother get involved in her mess.

"How long will it take from him to regain consciousness?" Even though she moved to help prop move blankets and pillows to keep Wyatt comfortable, her question was directed at Pirimus.

"A day, at most. He should be awake by morning," the cattaur murmured, already slipping into a well deserved rest. "Poison out..so just like...stab wound..." And out he went.
