Once Natsu had agreed, things proceeded as smoothly as one would expect. The people of Liem gathered around the plot that was quickly made for the deceased and the man was lowered into the ground, the crowd around the hole quietly mourning the death of a close member of the community.
It was after the man had been covered and the funeral was close to over that Natsu was asked to step forward. It was his time to debut the song that would only be sung once.
The woman ushered Natsu forward and returned to holding Kujo's shoulder.

Natsu could barely watch the ceremony, and felt terrible for his own display of emotions. Could he not be sensitive just this once? He felt so disrespectful!
When it was his time to stand before everyone and sing the ballad he had written, his heart sank lower than it had ever before. Would he upset them further? Would this disrespect them? He shivered, took a deep breath, and began.
Bardin Rea, a name not soon forgotten,
Was a man of song and glory, and loved by all and many.
He traveled days and nights, gathering memories for his songs,
Passing them down for the generations to hear after he was gone.
Bardin Rea, a man to look up to,
Now old and worn from life's harsh toils,
Sent his beloved grandson, Kujo, upon a long and tiring journey,
So he may find another man to tell his legends to.
Bardin Rea had traveled far, as all the tales suggested,
From meetings with the High Council of Zena,
To bringing songs to Tale and beyond,
A colorful life of adventure, a treasure to behold.
Bardin Rea, although in passing,
Will never truly die,
For his legends and his life,
All linger within Kujo's eyes.
Now this young man, strong and proud,
Is to be Bardin Rea's honored successor,
To him be blessed, to him be fair,
And allow him to grow up without compare.
Bardin Rea, though seen as unfair,
Must see something that Kujo cannot,
Perhaps in watching his grandson grow,
A spark of similarity started to show.

The song lingered in the air and the group around the plot continued to silently sob. It was a beautiful melody and Kujo's mother looked into Natsu's eyes with tears before burying her head into her husband's shoulder.
Kujo himself tucked his body into his mother's side and wouldn't look anyone in the eye, his tears silently dripping from his face. The crowd was silent, save for the stifled cries and sobs, and the occasional hiccup. The younger children seemed to not really know what was going on, being too young to understand the meaning of death and its finality.
The crowd dispersed, holding each other and returning to their homes, leaving only the immediate family left standing around the grave. The mother tugged on her son's hand and pulled him into the house with her, leaving Natsu and the husband alone out in the snow.
"That was a fine song; I'm sure my family and the town appreciated it." He held out a hand for Natsu to shake before another voice sounded from behind.
"It seems to me that we meet again." Vescillea stepped forward from her place near the back and put a hand on Natsu's shoulder. "It was a lovely song Natsu and I'm glad to see that you've grown since the last time we met." She looked up at the husband and patted his back also.
"If you'll excuse us, we have final preparation to begin, but from all of the village we say thank you." The husband gave Natsu a nod that said he was appreciative for all that he had done and Vescillea led the husband away and back to the home, leaving Natsu alone and ready to return to Mez.
