Jay looked up and stared at him, dumbfounded by the words he had just spoken. Opening her mouth to reply but being denied a chance to do so as he stormed out of the room.
Did he really think that? Had she not been trying to make a life for them... It wasn't like she had said yes the first time he asked. No she had been pressured into competing, even if it called to her, the noise, the pain, the sweat...blood...dirt... Jay had declined because of Heita.

His words hurt her more than any wound could.

Defeat wasn't what had just happened, oh no. He had actually hurt his wife. Everyone knew that hurting Jay could only result in one of two things happening.

One, she would drink herself into a stupor and cause trouble where ever she went.

Two, she would rebel and fight harder than ever out of spite.

Since it was a tournament and fighting outside the arena was grounds for disqualification Jay decided to go all out during her match. ******** caution, ******** trying to stay safe to make him happy.

She loved him with all her heart, but this was not a 'princess' he had married, she was a seasoned fighter with a stubborn streak like no other.

"If you want to do it on your own fine, I will just have to do it too... I'll see you after the first round."

She would say aloud, eyes still glistening as tears continued to roll down her cheeks. Grabbing her pack the woman left the room with head still lowered and shoulders slumped. Her injured hand all but forgotten as she took the stairs back down to the lobby. Heart aching with every step taken...

Crossing the lobby, his aura still practically ablaze, he wouldn't see the woman from earlier as they passed a bit too near one another.

Until it was too late.

Like two wayward celestial bodies, lost in their own void, they would collide; Eric's shoulder slamming into her own as his eyes snapped up, regarding her tear-soaked face just before he spun back...and connected with the floor.

"Oompfh!...Hey, Damnit!!"

Believe it or not, he'd already drawn his fair share of unwanted attention; what with his earlier fight, the blood still coating his back, and the unnatural storm of crimson energy that surrounded him...So, given that, quite a few people noted their collision with audible hisses.

A few whispered words passing from one to the next.

Whether it had been his imagination from the outset, or not; the Thai brawler forced his way from the plush carpet, and redirected his enraged face at those nearest them.

That glare, so full of hatred, was all it took to send them scattering for cover.

Temporarily, Eric had forgotten about the girl...his past...and the dull ache that resided where-in his heart should be; pushing Fury into his system in much the same way as the brain was prone to do with dopamine, or adrenaline. Though, as time had shown, the anger was much more common...

A drug he couldn't control.

It was like she had been in a daydream, rudely woken by the man's shoulder smashing into her own. Sending the poor woman stumbling forward before crashing to her knees.
Fingers curling till her hands formed fists against the carpeted floor, tears that were not for him slowly stopped falling as she felt the rage she was renowned for building within. Sure she had just packed a tantrum and walked out after a fight with her husband, but to be knocked over at random was unacceptable.... Almost as unacceptable as when the dragon made her spill coffee...

"Don't you damnit me! Watch where you are ******** going!"

That attitude... The faulty switch like woman was quickly able to recover her bag and rise to her feet, finally stopping to look at the man who had so carelessly knocked her over...

The man from the bar..

It wasn't that she was afraid, even if she could feel his anger...It was kind of refreshing. Instead of everyone else being too guarded or cocky he was as open with his raw emotional anger as she was.
His glare would meet a stern look that could be considered a challenge or even understanding from someone who battled her own rage on a daily basis. Unlike her brother who had no control. Jay embraced the hate that had been built up over the years of fighting those would see her dead.

"The ******** you all looking at, get lost!"

Her voice harsh and a little raspy from having been crying. But it carried a promise of hurt if they didn't listen, people quickly walked away from the toxic pair of fighters...

"Saw you earlier... Wana a drink? Could use bad company."

It was a simple offer that translated into. "I'm having a bad day too dude, come have a drink and we can forget everything else for a while." even if she had no intention of making a friend out of him, it was known that she didn't really have anyone else to hang out with. Brothers no where to be seen, husband hating her for being in the tournament...And friends...She didn't really have any fiends to start with come to think of it...

His teeth clenched down, gnashing like a drawer full of knives that had been thrown into a dryer, and set on high spin!

"Who the Hell do yo..."

Before he had the chance to get right salty, she'd matched him for animosity; putting just as much fear into those standing around as he had, and shutting him right the hell up...

Fierce eyes tracking over to regard her more closely.

A large part of him, the Tiger side, wanted him to tell her no; send her packing, and be on his way...This day having been just ******** fantastic, so far...But, that very sentiment...

He could see it in her own face...

They had both had shitty days, and more than just this one. Certain features about her reminded him of her...that wretched b***h!...and yet, there were some very important differences. This woman was a fighter; she had spirit!

Stammering like an idiot, and growling to cover it up, he'd practically yelled back at her; despite them being within arm's reach. Eric hated that his thoughts had taken him to such a dark place, and he hated even more to show any semblance of weakness...

But, as the saying went, curiosity killed the cat.

That look... was the response he would get from accepting her offer in such an amusing manner, slinging the bag containing her battle gear over one shoulder she would then march off towards the bar. It wasn't like she was going to do anything stupid, but there was nothing wrong with venting and drinking until nothing mattered.

The trick was to drink until it stopped hurting, that sweet point of bliss when you couldn't feel anything. this would be around the time most people would be passed out with alcohol poisoning. but if her new drinking buddy was anything like her, it was just enough to silence the rage.

"One drink eh? Better make it a good one then. My shout."

Glancing back over her shoulder as they re- entered the bar, a devilish glint in those dark brown eyes.

"I'll have whiskey, no ice, just the bottle and a glass."

Waiting for her companion to order Jay would pull a small wad of cash from her top, probably the only time she was going to wear actually clothing in the tournament...Which meant she could stash her cash in her bra.

From there she would find a booth and slid into one of the cushioned seats before shifting so her feet could rest on on the edge of the table.

"So what's your name?"

He followed her in, only bothering to throw up a hand the bartender's way as they moved to take their seats. Eric couldn't help but quirk a brow at her choice...She even drank the same thing that he did?

It was always the little things that consumed his mind the most.

The man took a place opposite her at the table, folding his arms across his sturdy chest; Almost like he was intentionally trying to look bigger. Admittedly, the young warrior hadn't been one for company in the last few years...He would have to shake the dust off.

"Eric...And you?"

Smoooooth.

Raising an eyebrow at the man while filling the glass halfway with the amber liquid. A soft humm of delight would be heard as she then pushed it across the table, opting to drink out of the bottle itself instead.

"Eric, nice to meet you. I'm Jay."

Another swig was taken before placing the bottle back on the table with a soft thud. They were both a little awkward, Jay of course was used to a far more 'active' atmosphere...and he looked like he hadn't sat with a woman in gods knew how long.
His posture and folded arms drawing a soft chuckle from the dark haired woman.

"Chill, I wont bite. Tell me your story, you look like you have one? What did you win to get into this?"

All the questions in the world she could of asked, and she chose to talk about fighting and history. Mind you she was more than happy to share the basics of her own story if he wanted. Besides it might get him to say more than three words..

He took the glass, and hammered it home; downing the thick, heady liquor in one shot.

The Tiger would not be outdone!

However, Eric knew that he was being uptight; guarding himself, and maintaining distance. He hadn't been around a woman like her...ever, possibly? Before all of this, they hadn't been his type...and since then...

"Jay...I wouldn't mind being bitten...It's what comes after that worries me."

It was a surreal sight; this young man sitting across from her, still practically aflame with latent energy. That fury didn't match the calm, or sense of loss, in his voice...But, that shift seemed to diminish the fury.

If only just a bit.

"Anyway...I've been fighting in the streets for a while; making ends meet however I could. I got invited after I pummeled this Jinsoku kid in a road-brawl..."

Thinking back on it, he had actually choked him unconscious; Poor guy...

A twisted smile formed as she watched him down the drink, it was like an official challenge to her own liquor prowess.
Leaning over the table to refill it before taking a hearty chug herself.

"Oh and there is always something that comes after?"

Amused with the thought for a bit before she remembered how horrific some bites were...and how they really did lead to dangerous places. ******** vampires.

Then he mentioned a name she had heard before...where had she heard it?!

"On the streets? So like me then, except you're looking at the champion of Sadisfaction. One of my better titles I'll admit."

It wasn't that she hadn't picked up on it, but how was she supposed to delve deeper? People like them bore so much more than physical scars.

"Making ends meet is rough though, Gaia isn't so forgiving... Took me a long time to get on my feet. Ever been to Sigil?"

And boom! There is was, the beginning of her dig for information, curious as ever Jay looked past the 'scary' aura of the man across from her. Choosing to disarm him with hat wicked smile as she continued drinking.

Again, he slammed the glass back...and then dropped it to the table, empty. For the moment, his increased metabolism was burning through the alcohol...and calming his emotional whirlwind.

But, not nearly so much as her company.

Despite being just as vicious as he, or maybe because of it, he felt soothed; like a beast amongst its own kind after a long stint in the wild...alone.

"I don't have Sigil-level funding, and...from what I hear...the Hive is pretty much in ruins. A couple thousand dollars every month from kicking a**...when you can get it...doesn't go very far. But, I've heard of it...Sounds more like a City of Wars, than a City of Doors..."

Eric chuckled, a ragged...crackling...sound that did not fit his throat. It almost sounded like a growl, were it not for the smile that accompanied it.

And, just like that...As if doused in a sheet of water...his shroud of livid hatred was gone; a regular, simple, young-man sitting before her.

That...that had never happened before. But! To his credit...he quickly looked down at his glass, as if thinking, to hide the wide-eyed expression that now occupied his features. How in he actual ******** had he turned it off?

XXXXXXHe had worked himself up into a lather. He thought his victory would've been sweet like pecan pie or a kiss from his maniac wife but upon leaving the room, he heard her words. He came to realize that the tears that had been pouring down her face were possibly the real deal and not the usual crocodiles she had been known to use against him. He wanted to turn back when he came to the realization. He had turned back actually but to his dismay she had already found someone to distract her from her husband.

XXXXXXSo Heita did what he always did when he didn't know what else to do. He went for a run. Twenty to twenty-five miles of solidarity always cleared his mind but since coming to Gaia he was never actually alone. A problem he had wondered on numerous occasions if he should remedy. He didn't for one reason and one reason alone. She was his greatest utility in this world. A verifiable Gaian Swiss army knife.

There was a moment of silence between them as Jay filled the glass for a third time, a knowing smile formed as his words sunk in. If anyone knew what was happening it was Jay, Tres and Heita.
But then again only Jay knew about her side of things, what her plans were...And what she was looking for while at the tournament.

"City of wars, couldn't be more true. Although most of the real fights aren't in the open. My crew are in the thick of it, trying to make the city better by controlling the underground... Sick of drugs lords and the like running around doing what they want. too many people get hurt."

Another moment passed where nothing was said, despite them both being fairly calm, two animals who had found peace in each others company.. It still didn't make them any thing more than strangers sharing a drink. The near empty bottle was placed on the table as a soft hum came from the woman.

"I got the funding. Got two rich dicks paying me to clean up their mess while letting me do what ever I want in between jobs. They also let me hire who ever I want. The hive is dead, nothing left there but death and monsters. But that is what makes me so expensive.. I'm not scared to go and get my hands dirty in that s**t hole."

The wicked grin returned as she remembered dragging the poor priest along with her while being chased by dragons, zombies and her husband. Good times, good times indeed.

"Always on the look for more people like me, pay is decent, get a place to stay. Do you have anywhere to go after this?"

Had her husband not been so mean earlier she might of done more than watch him leave, her poor heart aching something fierce at the sight of him leaving for the second time that day. Having no idea how he was feeling didn't help either.

Eric looked up, a wry smile plastered on his otherwise dour face. The thing about quick emotions?

You got better at reacting to change.

"HoooOOoo Goddamn! They said these tournaments would open doors...but we haven't even started fighting yet, and I'm getting job offers."

Without looking down, he'd collect his glass once more; shooting the whiskey straight, without breaking eye contact. Quickly slamming it back to the table...

"And...when I win this thing? You really think a man worth ten-MILLION Gee is going to work for anyone? What's to say there isn't a beach some where...pure-white sands, girls wearing skimpy swimsuits year round?"

He knew he was lying even as he spoke the words. There was no peace for him, and no joy to be had in the pursuit of such a life. Once, maybe...but the warrior, once awakened, could never be put down again.

Not until he was dead.

Jay simply slid her boots off the table to lean forward and look into his eyes, he was too alike. He even mentioned having a place by the beach... That had been her dream from day one, even before Heita Jay had always wanted to retire by the beach in Gambino. All the shopping and sun a girl could ever want.

But there was always something happening, in reality she could of retired a long time ago, but instead here she was looking to fight. Even in Sigil it was like a drug, once you got good and kicked a** only to find out you enjoyed the pain, the feel of blood on your hands...There was no stopping.
the woman knew this was her problem, even though she desperately wanted a normal life, deep down in the darkness that resided within her...the truth stirred and reminded her that no matter where she went, death and destruction would follow.

"Because you are hungry like me, not for money... for blood. Besides it wont be 'work', think of it as hanging with some good friends while enjoying some not so legal activities?"

The words were smooth as silk, the woman folded her arms above her head and leaned back on the chair, watching to see if anything stirred from her offer. Did he have the darkness in him too? The constant need to fight because nothing else would take away the pain it represented?

And she would likely see the gears turning behind his aggressive eyes...

There was nothing left in him but darkness; a savagery that could not be contained, and only barely harnessed. Eric could not control his monster, and so he had become it.

"I'd be a liar if I told you the idea didn't...interest me. I don't know how this thing is gonna pan out, and so far...all I know about my opponent...is his name."

The young fighter would casually reach down, and fish through his right pocket; producing an invitation that held not only his full name, Eric Suyaa, but another as well...

Tresondros Ecstuffuan

"Sounds like a prissy, little ******** to me...possibly in the same vein as that Ren-Faire a*****e that gave me this..."

Eric would lay the card out between them, and flick his opposite thumb back to indicate his most recent injury; which he, still, hadn't attended to. Hell, for all he knew, the two people could be one-and-the-same.

He didn't know anyone, and...up until now...had not really cared to.
