Abhilasha is not the ideal version of what a Talon Maiden ought to be, she is not battle scarred and ready for a fight nor does she possess much knowledge in the way of healing. She does not condone violence and the study of herbs hardly holds her attention; unless it veers in the direction of creating body pigments or perfumes.
From the time she was old enough to comprehend what a rhythm was she was capable of dancing quite gracefully. And as she grew she revealed a lovely voice and proclivity toward song. Her adoptive older sister Hygea nurtured her gifts to the best of her ability but also tried to educate Abhi in much more practical fields such as the art of healing. Though, for the most part, Hygea’s teachings fell upon ears only interested in song and rhythm her lessons were not completely fruitless. Abhi did walk away with the knowledge of a few plants that are able to help in the treatment of wounds. Even so, song and dance tugged at every fiber of her being, luring her into their artistic depths with sweet melodies and mesmerizing movements.
Everything seemed to come naturally to her. The way the melodies sounded upon her tongue and danced over her vocal chords, the way her body just seemed to know how to move with the pulsating rhythms found within music, and most of all, how she appeared to mature during her performances. Before she was truly able to exercise her gifts she was a clumsy, petulant, and childish young Ulaya but she began to act much more seriously when her talents were discovered. She soon transformed from an awkward and moody young Talon Maiden into a strong and confident beauty.
In many ways she is still young for she lacks experience when it comes to the vast world around her, and that is why Hygea sent her out on her own to learn. If she were to stay with Hygea and a few of their other Talon Maiden sisters she would have remained naïve and never truly grown up. Abhi believes it is possible to learn everything she needs from her sisters, but is also itching to see what lays beyond the hot springs they call home.

Abhilasha doesn’t know much about the treason her mother attempted to commit, for she was just out of her box when her mother was banished. Her only source of information is from her adoptive ‘blood’ sister Hygea, the daughter of the other Talon Maiden who had plotted with her mother to overthrow their leader. Each time Abhilasha asks, Hygea gives her the same response; their mothers wanted power more than sisterhood and were willing to take it at any cost.
From the time she could comprehend the speech of others she knew it was not right to start a fight within the pack, that it was a disgrace to hurt your sisters and as such she has never felt much pity or longing for her mother. At times she can tell others in the pack are looking at her and thinking of her mother but this drives her to impress them even more, to show them the loyal and devoted Talon Maiden she truly is. Hygea has helped her much in this goal over the years, teaching her how to mix paints and perfumes from various plants. Because of this she has become quite the creator of ‘makeup’ and sweet smells, making it one of her hobbies when she is not performing.
Even so, she can tell that the banishment of their mothers affects Hygea in ways she will never admit. Abhilasha had a fairly standard puphood, having the pack and her beloved older sister to take care of her and teach her to be a proper Talon Maiden; in this way she considers herself to have had many mothers rather than one treacherous one. Compared to her Hygea went through hell and back again, having discovered her mother’s plans and turning her in to their beloved alpha. Even though Abhilasha doesn’t know the specifics she can still feel the pain in her breast, and does her best to help Hygea in any way possible.
Hygea has taught her the most of anyone, taking on the role of her sister but ending up being more of a mother figure than anything else. Abhilasha can’t remember a time when Hygea wasn’t in her life and she is very grateful for that fact. She has been a wonderful influence over her life and led her down her true path, never becoming too upset with her over her poor performance in the arts of battle and healing.
