He could have teased her. Mentioned her fear in front of Ariane. He could have done any number of things but the only thing he did was dig around in another pocket of his uniform to produce a flashlight that he happened to have on his person.

The flashlight wasn't huge but it would hopefully shed enough light to help Maebe feel a little safer.

"I'll get a new one, keep it." He said simply with a shift of his shoulders.

It seemed Jude had a bit of a big brother mentality when it came to Maebe. It's like he liked her or something.

Jude then looked over at Ariane as he bent over a bit from being tugged down, "Want to go dye your hair now?"

Maebe's eyes lit up at the sight of the flashlight, in a way that made her look far younger than she'd looked a minute ago. "Thank you," She whispered, clutching it like a lifeline. A flashlight. A flashlight. She could go to bed, she could sleep-

And then Ariane invited her to take a walk, and she looked absolutely horrified.

"UH!" She immediately relented, her expression melting into exhaustive regret. "Maybe some other time? I have to.. go.. do this.. really important.. - I need to sleep. Really badly."

That sounded horrible.

"Just - really - sorry."

She kept flickering her gaze to the door. Sleep, sleep, bed, sleep-

"A special occasion is bound to come by soon enough," Ariane laughed, wriggling her eyebrows at Jude in a mysterious fashion. It probably looked more silly than mysterious, but she didn't care.

"Oh, I'm sure we'll see each other again," She added with a grin before finally letting Maebe go, waving her now free hand in the air, "Very soon." Needing sleep sounded like a really lame excuse to her, but Jude seemed convinced that Maebe was telling the truth - so she decided to give her the benefit of the doubt.

Ariane's wiggling eyebrows made him respond with a faint smirk but he was still squinting at her a little as if trying to decipher the meaning behind 'special occasion'. He was wracking his brain to figure out what special thing was going to come up next.

Jude was not bright when it concerned social contexts.

"Bye Ma- Oh. She's ... Already gone. Well... Let's go for that walk?" He offered Ariane his hand.
