Sherry smiled. A bit forced, but not completely, a little sad, but not entirely. She place her hand over Aki's, but then decided it was better to grab that hand, to hold it, so she did.

"Friends, then?" She asked the question of both of them. She considered them friends. Her other hand, her free hand, she extended to Jake. She didn't expect the three of them to run around hand in hand or anything (it would have been nice though), but she'd accept a handshake. She just wanted something. Even if it wasn't love of the kind she felt.

Because as far as she was concerned, these two WERE her friends, and that was still super important.

Jake sighed, but closed his eyes, letting out a soft chuckle.
He stepped forward, taking her hand, but rather than shake it, he only held it, looking at her.

"Friends, and maybe more."
He lifted her hand to his lips.
"Though that depends on what you decide to do." His eyes twinkled, as if teasing her, telling her not to give up.

To Aki, he only ruffled his hair, and then he let go of her hand, and left.

Ah see! There she was, at least feeling a bit better? He nodded at the question. Of course, he'd be friends with anyone who wanted to do the same. Or at least that was his thought on the matter. He didn't really say anything, as it came down to Jake at the moment, who... apparently had more to say.

Some more, huh? Wasn't that what he said it wasn't before? Still, maybe that was what Sherry wanted? He held out a hand to the older boy as well at that point, as if to shake, but instead got a light fluff of his hair before Jake wandered off. Well that worked too. Either way he was smiling again, giving Sherry a slightly expectant look. See, that was what she'd wanted! Not giving up earned her that small chance as a desire?

That was why the present was important. Though, just in case she was upset. He'd stick around for a bit. If she needed to talk he could at least listen, even if replying was a bit hard when he didn't know. But at least for a bit. He did have to find and make sure Amphi was alright later.

She'd expected a handshake at best, a scoff at worst. What did happen, well, Sherry didn't quite know what to do with that. His words gave her hope, as much as they shocked her, and his kiss on her hand caused her to blush. She was more or less speechless as he ruffled Aki's hair and left.

What did that mean? Did it mean what she thought it meant? What she hoped? The gesture was sweet and the look in his eye...

Armagnac did exactly answer the question, but Sherry didn't think she knew the answer anyway.

It didn't change the fact that Sherry was suddenly a thousand times happier than she had been. Still confused, but happy. She tossed her arm around Aki's shoulder and pulled him in for a quick hug.

"Thanks for coming to help out, Aki. I'm glad you were here." She really was. "Maybe we should wander off, too, before something else shows up?"
