 Ian, oddly enough, seemed strangely unaffected by Augustus' death, merely watching with a disconnected sort of expression, his fingers casually clenching and unclenching around the long staff he held in his hands.
He said nothing, and merely took a swing, a small breath escaping his throat.

He made a low, growling sound in the back of his throat, an irritated look passing across Ren's face as his gaze followed Augustus, and then Sparrow, and then Ian. He didn't like sacrificing one to save the rest, but there had been no stopping him, no choice.
He lunged, giving a small hiss of anger.

Mathias, once again, pushed himself a bit shakily to his feet, and just in time to see Augustus's death, or sacrifice, or whatever it might be called. "Nein." He whispered. Why had he done that? To help them all? Mathias felt his anger mounting. "NEIN!" He shouted, this time jumping forward to slash at the guardian harder then before. It wasn't much,and he was still knocked to the side like he was nothing, but he was trying. He stumbled back, and growled, but this time kept his balance and didn't fall. "This can not be! Ve vill defeat you!" Somebody might have been feeling a little dramatic. Sparrow rubbed at his side, trying to ignore the pain from the guardian's blow. He lifted his chin, and said encouragingly to Mathias, "That's right. We're going to defeat him, that's entirely right. Just keep at it."

Ian watched the one called Mathias with a scrutinizing sort of look, almost as though he were sizing him up before he too swung out again, his weapon at the ready.
