"Blue token darling!" the old man said with a grin to Liana. "Pick one of those prizes off the blue cloth, or play again for free!"

Next up was Canoake, and when the red token came out the old man laughed and shook his head. "Well, aren't you the lucky one? A red token is a firelizard egg miss! You can choose from these ones here." The old man gestured to three eggs in pots of sand. They were: a small dark brown one with white stripes, a small dark blue one fading paler at the base, and a small black one with a white zig-zag line around the middle. [[Naree, you are free to choose your egg now! Please say whether you will keep, or sell on IC]]

The old man turned to S'aak then with a grin and a permissive nod. "You enjoy it son! Keep your ears good and warm from the horrid chill wind it will, I'm surprised you riders don't catch your deaths up there!"

G'nar was next alone, and oh he was a big one! The old man had seen plenty of big people in his time though and showed the rider a big gold-toothed grin. "Yes that's right! You can take a prize from the blue cloth, or you can play again free." Play again the man did and eventually came away with a bag of sweets, not bad so far as the stall keeper was concerned.

His frist player was having another go now, and and it less luck this time. The old man nodded affably to Liana and gestured to the small range of hats. "Choose your choice dearie! This one? Right, right, you enjoy it!"

"Bad luck there," he added to Celandine, "why not have another go? Still two firelizard eggs to win, there are!"

S'aak was playing again, and not so lucky this time. The old man chuckled and gave his gold firelizard a scratch. "Well I couldn't let my beauty's eggs go easy as pie now could I?"

It was busy! Well, if he'd known it would be so popular he might have brought help. Oh well, no help now! The old man turned to D'ei. "Any one of those young lady! There's a nice range of humorous mugs if that takes y'fancy, have a look of them all!"

Tabathi got a big grin and a nod of acknowledgement. "Lovely choice! Take any one you like, they're all a bit different! I've got a few more down the back here if you don't see one you really like."

Another red token came out then and the game master grinned at Celandine. "Better luck that time eh? You can pick either of the two the young lady before you doesn't go for. They've been hardening a good time, they should hatch in four days time or maybe five at most.

"Enjoy the sweets love!" he called to Erie as she moved off with her prizes.

Vakus
Meepfur

"Welcome!" Vakus smiled at Dinah and swept a little bow. Always a pleasure to have a handler visit my stall - I have seen you around with a wher haven't I? That piece there is three marks, some of my finest work if I do say so myself! I can adjust the fit if it's not right on you, too."

"Mmmh, believe me sweet thing romance is seldom far from my mind," said Peya, her voice deep and mellifluous as her dark gaze met with V'ell's. "I'll tell you what, if it's for love I'll give you a quarter mark off. You can spend that on something sweet for your love, perhaps?"

Another customer - Serdek - got a curving smile like a cat and a long steady look. "One of the standard daggers is a mark, and the knuckles are half a mark per piece, or three quarters if you buy one for each hand. I've got different sizes and weights, do test them out if you want to."

Peya turned her head slowly to Arlii and looked her up and down ever-so slowly. "A mark, my dear, is the going rate," she said in a voice that sounded more like an invitation to intimate drinks than a price for a killing implement.

"Mulled to perfection my darling," Killian assured Toska, retuning her brilliant smile with a bright white-toothed one of their own. "Here," the vinter ladled out a cup full, "you try that and tell me if it's sweet enough for you. my philosophy with mulled wine is to put just a little sweetner into the pot and top it up to taste, it's easy to put more in but you simply can't take it out again save by adding more wine!"

"Heeeeeello there friend!" the one-eyed bungle of energy chirped, handing over the bat and accepting the money. When the score came out less than stellar she gave a sympathetic laugh and shook her head. "Try again? You can go as many times as you like!"

"Ooh, not bad!" the young woman said to S'aak. "You can come back and play again later if you like!

Varkus

Varukus laughed and lent an elbow in his stall to address Rilli, his manner laid back and amiable. "They're used to that with my partner's wher, they've learned to be quick! Azure over there nearly lose half his tail once though," he snorted with a gesture at the smallest of the blues, whose tailed was mercifully still attached. "That one there's not for sale," he continued, "it belongs to Husk, the tail biter. I make all my saddles exactly to order... interested? I could give you a good price."

Peya

When Sasar started trying on the knuckles Peya lent forward over the stall to purr in his ear. "Half a mark each, but three quarters of a mark for a pair... usually. But I like the way they look on you, handsome, so either way I can offer you a quarter mark off the standard fee so that would be a half mark for the pair. Just don't go around telling everyone, hummm?"

Dinah - Vakus' Stall
5 marks

"Aye, that you have," Dinah confirmed, appreciative that the man had noticed. "That's my Dinsk. Trouble, that one. Good at what whers do best, not so good in a crowd. Had to put her up for a bit."

"Quite a piece, that armor, and a fair price too. Still, don't s'pose we could work out a bit of a deal if I bought some boots, too?"

Arlii - Peya's Smith Stall!
{5 marks}

Arlii carefully picked up one of the daggers, eying it critically and holding it this way or that, checking the weight. For a standard dagger, it was pretty decent. It would be a good investment, she thought? Though perhaps a pair would be even better... Hmm. Decisions! Of course, the stall owner was rather interesting herself.

The Crimsonrider quirked an eyebrow up slowly, the corners of her lips curling up in a smile. "Oh? One mark, you say. Well... " Was there a bit of velvet in her tone? Why yes. Yes there was. "What if I were interested in a... second dagger on top of it, hmm?" She liked this woman. And regardless, she was definitely going to make a purchase here! But hey, it was always worth seeing if you could save a few extra marks, right?

Serdek - Peya's Stall
5 1/2 marks

"Fair," Serdek said quickly, giving Peya the ghost of a smile. "Very fair." But she was a woman of few words, and unlike V'ell, she wasn't exactly being choosy for anyone. She just...liked the idea of the knuckles. Rather a lot. There wasn't time to haggle, though; Serdek had little enough in the way of words, and she wasn't going to waste what she had left bothering someone about prices (even as everyone around her seemed to be getting discounts for this reason or that). So instead she sorted through the brass knuckles until she found something that fit right on her hand and didn't seem like it would impede a swing should anything come down to a fistfight.

And she looked thoughtfully at the dagger, then set it aside. "I might come back for the knife," she said to Peya, another brief smile crossing her face, "but I have to put in a saddle order, and I don't quite know prices. Want to get in there before he ends up swamped. I'll take these, though." And she passed a half-mark to the Smith with a courteous nod.

Toska - Killian's Stall
4 7/8 marks

Smiling at the vintner, Toska took the cup gratefully, lifting it to her nose and inhaling with eyes closed. "Smells like fall," she said, opening her eyes again to flash Killian a bright smile. "I'm from Nerat, originally - Benden might as well be High Reaches for all I can tolerate cooler months. Only thing good about the cold's the drinks. No hot klah or mulled wine in the jungle." And then she took a sip. "Oh," she said softly, then took another. "Oh, that's good." The grin she flashed Killian was positively dazzling. "This is wonderful, and I like it just fine without any extra sugar." Another sip. "See, this almost makes the winter worth it."

Tosk, meanwhile, was slowly becoming bored of sitting patiently at Toska's feet. Slowly (ever-so slowly) and curiously, the wher crept closer to the vintner's booth, nostrils rising above the table slowly - followed by a pair of very large, very silly-looking goggles. And then Tosk was resting her chin on the table, looking at Killian with an expression of expectancy.

Hello.

"Tosk - Tosk, off there!" Toska noticed the wher too late, and was already moving to push Tosk away from the table with one hand. "Sorry about that, she's - something." A handful. But a good handful.

The gold, on the other hand, was resolutely resisting being moved, putting all her six months of solid muscle mass into staying rooted exactly where she was, even as Toska shoved at her face. Tosk's gets a nice drink. What about Tosk?

"You're such a beggar," Toska said aloud, but fondly. She looked to Killian and smiled sheepishly. "I don't suppose you have - water or something? Just so she feels like she got something and stops begging?" The last bit was directed more to the gold than the vintner, but regardless, the tone was firmer than the rest of Toska's words had been.

Dinah - Vakus' Stall

"Humm... well I can't really cut the price of it," Vakus said with a small shake of his head, "but what I can do is throw in a nice big pot of wax for you, that'll care for both the boots and the armour and keep them supple and waterproof. What do you say? For boots and the fine armour it would come to four and a half marks, and that's with free fitting and the wax mind you."

Tabathi/Tabatsk - Lucky Dip!
{4 6/8 marks}

Tabi smiled sweetly at the old man, picking one of the plushies that reminded her of Tabatsk. Who she showed immediately after. "What do ya think?" She murmured to her bonded. Tabatsk sniffed at the plush, poked it with her snout, and finally licked it. She approved of it! Gingerly, she plucked the plush from her handler and sat like a canine holding a ball.

Laughing, Tabi patted Tabatsk and fished out another eighth of a mark. "Alright, alright. You can have that one. I'll try one more time, and see if we're lucky."

Once again, she stuck her hand into the scraps of cloth, sliding her fingers about until she found a token that felt right to grab.

EDIT: And once again, she pulled out a white token! The handler laughed, shaking her head. "Well you only get one plush, darling. Sorry!" She teased Tabatsk, who snorted and held on to her new plush. "May I have the bag of sweets this time?"

Ja'kki - Snake Smasher!
Marks: 5
- 1/8th

Ja'kki bounced through the crowds looking for some fun. Whether that fun involved food, splurging, games, or harassing the locals Ja'kki had yet to determine. It was always fun visiting Benden though. Especially if she got to tweak a few noses in the process.

It did make her a little sad that she wasn't surrounded by the rest of her group. It seemed like the Bolts were growing distant from each other at times. The loss of their teammates had shaken the group harder than they'd initially thought it seemed. At least, that's how Ja'kki saw it. Maybe she was the one avoiding them, or them her. Either way, she was currently on her lonesome, Emerath lounging on the fire heights above with two little firelizards curled on her head napping contentedly in the sun.

The sight of a couple riders swinging a bat at something caught her eye. Had someone found a tunnelsnake in the Gather? Curiosity drew the greenrider forward and she near squealed in delight to discover it wasn't a tunnelsnake but a game. "Next!" She called, passing an eigth-mark to the young woman manning the game.

Ja'kki kept it to herself but the drowsy Emerath grinned as she caught the flicker of interest that fluttered in her rider. It was nice to see a pretty woman her own size for once. Ja'kki hefted the bat and once the 'tunnelsnakes' started rolling, Ja'kki swung with vigor.

Peya

"Mmmh, glad you think so," Peya replied to Serdek with a slight incline of her head. "I'll be here until past sunset if you decide you'd like a knife, you take care of yourself out there."

Peya lent over to Arlii then, the leather corset she wore creaking slightly under the strain of holding all of that muscular woman into an hourglass shape. The dark woman didn't seem uncomfortable though, indeed as she smoothed a hand down one shaved side of her head she looked like the feline that had got the cream... or the fresh kill. Or both. "If you were to get a second dagger, sky-eyes, I would charge you two marks and offer to get you a drink later on." It was always worth seeing if you could get a date.

Killian

Killian gave a musical little laugh, still smiling brilliantly at Toska. "I'm native to Benden myself but I've only recently moved here to the wherhold! And I thought you might not take extra sugar, I can see you're sweet enough all by yourself. And you are too!" This was directed to Tosk, with a little laugh. "I can see she's something, something wonderful! I've got some water back here and... oh, yes, I had a spare tray for ice she can have it in."

No sooner was this said then the young gold wher was presented with a tray which Killian filled up with water with a flourish. "Would the lady care for any spice in her beverage?" the vinter asked with a little half bow to Tosk.

Lucky Dip

"Of course you can love," the stall keeper beamed to Tabi, gesturing to where they were laid out on the table. "They're all the same weight but feel free t'choose for yourself all the same."

Snake smasher!

"Oooh, nice shots there! Wasn't that good Misk?"

The stallkeeper's wher looked up, huffed indifferently and went back to his bone. The young woman herself laughed and turned back to Ja'kki. "Well the night is young but you're our top score so far.... Oh. Oh! Are you one of the Bolts? You are aren't you!" Her single eye went huge and her face split into a huge grin. "My little brother is the biggest fan! Could I have your autograph? He'd love me forever!"

Dinah - Vakus' Stall
1/2 mark

Dinah considered the offer for a moment, mulling it over before nodding. She couldn't blame him for standing firmit was good work, a fair price, and she wasn't exactly a charmer. "Aye, that'll do fine," she agreed, passing over most of her marks with a grin. "Marks won't protect me, eh? I'll have the armor and black boots. Who knows, maybe they'll help keep me out of a cage in the future."

V’ell – Peya’s Stall
1/4 mark

Oh, V’ell liked this woman’s style immediately. “Believe me, it’ll be put to good use,” she replied with a grin. Nothing like a present that served double duty: declaration of love and invitation to smash Trine skulls. Serdek got a sidelong scornful look, one that indicated she hadn’t missed the verbal jab in her direction… but V’ell was in too good a mood to pick a fight. Especially when she was getting a discount, and the Mastersmith might retract said discount if she drove off other customers.

It was still a lot of marks to spend all in one place. But a quarter-mark was a generous drop in price, and it wasn’t as if she’d been planning on bringing any of her money home with her – the five marks she brought had been set aside especially for the Gather. This way at least she would be guaranteed something she wanted, rather than wasting it all on games and winning nothing.

“You’ve got yourself a deal.” She handed over all her marks, save for a single quarter-mark piece which she slipped back into her pocket. D’ei would love this. She was sure of it.

Arlii - Peya's stall!
{5 3 marks + a date, wut}

Oh yes. She had chose quite well when she came to this stall. Arlii chuckled softly, admiring the daggers a moment longer before leaning a little closer over the table towards Peya. "Is that so?" Her smile was very cheshire like in nature as she slid two marks across the table and brushed her hand along Peya's. "I think y'sold me on that one, kitten." She purred. "I'll take two daggers." Arlii paused, leaning her head a little closer to whisper, "And the time you'll be closing up shop too~"

Okay so she hadn't gotten a discount or anything. But two daggers plus a date? Maybe this Gather was worth it after all. Eri would just have a field day with the gossip from this one!

G'nar -setting up properly-
3 7/8 marks (removed a mark for setting the stall up)

G'nar began putting the pelts on show on his stall. Smoothing down the fur and draping them over, taking great care with the greyish pelt, he'd almost kept that one but his sister had convinced him that he should sell it so he could keep the marks for himself. He waited for someone to come over to his stall but he couldn't help stroking the plush pelt just a little. It was so soft, he had one like it back in his Weyr as a blanket along with another as a rug for stepping out on when he got up, the stone floors of Benden got fairly chilly.

"C'mon, get yer fine furs here! Quality Felines!" he called, trying to garner interest.

Vakus

"I hope so!" Vakus replied to Dinah with a shake of his head. "I was glad to hear everyone got back safe from there. Cowardly bastards the lot of them! If it takes any damage come back to me and I'll give you the best price going on repairs." As he spoke Vakus lifted the armour off the display stand and handed it over. "Try it on tonight, if it doesn't fit right you can find me tomorrow - or any time really - and I'll do the adjustments. The boots are laid out in order of size so pick out ones that you think should fit you. Take care!"

Peya

"Let me know how it goes," Peya grinned to V'ell, taking the knuckles off their display stand and placing them into a black leather box lined with what looked like red satin before passing it over to the rider. "I do take commissions if you ever fancy anything else special for your special somebody."

Arlii soon had the smith's full attention again. She grinned and quirked an eyebrow. "Sugar, if you think I'm a kitten we really should get to know one another. I've not been a kit since I was twenty: full grown queen feline here. I close up one mark after sun down, choose your daggers now and I'll count on seeing you later."
