Ruby wanted to answer Alexis even in her unconscious state. She could still hear Alexis' voice fade slightly in and out and catching a few woulds. A very small puddle, if it could even be called a puddle, of blood started to leak out from under her body. Ruby forced her tired eye lids open, she lifted the upper half of her body, and used her swords as a cane to support herself. The glass shards that had transmuted back into their original state, sand which rubbed her wounds raw with each movement. Her body was in great pain, and yet she over-exceeded her limits and answered Alexis. "I'll murder you...just...like...that worthless Truesdale. That's...what he said..." Ruby repeated before trailing off.
The girl turned towards Horad's home and remembered that he said he was the most famous scholar in Magic Earth. No wonder why Zoltan was so desperate for astronomical information. She limped towards the old man's house hoping he would have some information on the expedition. With each step Ruby became either dizzy or winced in pain.

Alexis Truesvale I couldn't take it, couldn't stand another minute Couldn't bear another day without you in it All of the joy that I had known for all my life Was stripped away from me the minute that you died
'Worthless Truesdale'... that was how he said it, he had called her father worthless. Hatred was soon to boil in her mind, but when the cold air brushed past her cheek she couldn't not notice the pain that Ruby was in, even though she was weakly limping over towards a semi-wrecked home. "Ruby..." she began, pushing herself back up to her feet, luckily, she was no where near as wounded as Ruby, just a little tired. "We need to get you to a healer" she then said, just then as an Elf came near by an said "I can heal you" with an almost hoping expression on her face, she must have seen the whole thing. "It will take only a few hours and most of your pain will be gone" she insisted. She had long blonde hair and wore a white dress that sung beauty and caressed her skin. The incredible detail was ivory in colour and reminded Alexis of the forests.
Elves were the best at healing, they were around before any of the other races, they were even from Non-Magic Earth before Magic Earth was ever created.
Blue like violets Fills my head with dreams and finds me Always closer to the emptiness and sadness that has come to take the place of you I wasn't dreaming when they told me you were gone I was wide awake and feeling that they had to be wrong How could you leave me when you swore that you would stay But I'll make you proud and know that I'm okay every single f'ing day

Ruby turned to Alexis when she said she needed to get to a healer. The girl knew she did because where she was standing the carpet under her was soaked in blood with minutes. The albino nodded when a new voice came along and said that she would take the responsible of healing her. To be perfect honest, she looked a little bit like Lucas if he was a woman and an elf. Ruby put her weapon away and collapsed to her knees. She positioned herself to lay down and let the woman take over from there. Ruby's eyes closed and within seconds she drifted back into unconsciousness. The elf could be have evil intention for all her knew, but she couldn't think through the pain. Hopefully, Alexis would be protected as she slept.

First, the old man walked into his home, it was littered with bookshelves filled to the brim with old books and scrolls, some open some closed some unfinished. There was the odd table dotted about the main room too, some with veils of ink. Karuso let Zien in first and upon entering the old man's home was... homely, and obviously that of an old scholars.
"Please, take a seat" the old man said, walking over to his large wooden chair and taking a seat as his staff fell between his leg the arm rest. "Thank you..." Karuso replied, he gazed down at the seat and first wondered how long ago it was when someone last sat here. He then didn't want to be rude and so sat down. "To make things easier... i'll let you two gentlemen ask me the questions" he said, licking his lips and looking up to wait for their questions.

Finding that they were at this hermits home at last, he let them in. Zien took in the books and scrolls, shelves upon shelves of them. He let out a low whistle at the sight of it, amazing how he could use such limited space and manage to fit all of this.
Taking a seat as gestured the elemental nodded. "Thanks," he said taking the seat next to Karu. But now that the hermit was giving him opportunity to ask questions, Zien couldn't come up with any. "...umm....I..."

"how about explaining why you were so taboo over the mention of Vampires" Karuso said, saving Zien from the sudden mental wall between himself and his questions. The old man almost sighed a reached for one of the books by his neighboring shelf. After finally finding the right one, he pulled out a dark purple, leather book and placed it on the table between them, atop a few layers of other spare and written papers. "here" he said, leaning back in his seat as the book opened to a specific page, the pages effortlessly gliding over and flapping to a still. It showed some paragraphs explaining Vampirism and how it came about in Magic Earth. But the most important part was the illustration of vampires attacking the innocent, caging them up and for some.. draining blood to a pool beneath them.
"this is..." Karuso began, trying to find the word for it as his fingers traced the image. "... macabre". "yes... i know" replied the old man with a wise tone. "I understand you're not from here, the dragons told me as much. And if you were anything like them then i doubt they would have let you into the Crossing at all" he went on. Flipping the pages again with just his mind as it revealed more scribbles and a giant city floating above a dark swamp, bones lining the walls and dark spikes covering the ground. "That's the Bone City, Bornheiniculate. The city of the vampires." he mumbled. "It's abandoned now, all except for the occasional group of dark witches or warlocks, or sometimes necromancers..." "So what does this have to do with me? Not all vampires are war mongering, blood thirsty murderers." Karuso replied, rejecting any of this information from being used against him. "I'm afraid that is where you're wrong, Karuso. True, in Non-Magic Earth there are some vampires that can control themselves, all due to being taken away from the very essence that is Magic Earth, it's easier, i don't know why. But here... the vampires never became good. " he paused for a second as he stared at the city drawing. "They became one unified force with some smaller groups around the world, they built that city, there. They were a nuisance for centuries. That is the reason i did not want to refer to you as Vampire in public. Most people would be filled with fear. " "But I'm not-" "I know... It fascinates me, you're world, it does strange things to the magic-folk. But at the same time it does better. Back to the subject, the vampires havn't been seen for a very, very long time in Magic Earth, and none are usually allowed re-entry. So you're very lucky. The remaining descendants are that of Declasia's followers in the Land of Crows to the south. And even they are not fully trusted by the High Guild"
The old scholar tried to explain the best he could, but he was sure he was going to, or has already mentioned some things that the two of them won't understand yet.

Happily saved, he settled in for the answers that the hermit had. Karu's question of why his race was so 'taboo' was a great question. Zien himself literally face planted into his palm for spacing on the question when it came down to it. But yes, it was a key place to start; not understanding that he learned would have caused them a lot of trouble.
Sighing, the elemental finally spoke up by the end of it. "So because you people knew nothing else but these kinds of vampires...they are going to be hardcore judgmental of Karu...he looks nothing like them, and acts nothing like those 'things'," he firmly stated as he pointed to the book. Comparing them as the same race was just disrespecting Karu for the efforts he put forth and how he was as a person.
"I get that we'll have to be careful but still...Karu has drank from me personally and it went fine." Zien had made to use that past experience as a point, that Karu was on a completely different level of vampire then what was depicted here in the book. The image honestly made him a bit nauseous. "So how do we get around not making it obvious what Karu is? What's the name of the descendents of the vampires? Can he pass for one of those?"
Zien honestly didn't want to lie about what Karu was, but the more they learned more about vampires in this world, the better he figured avoid the subject the better off they would be. He didn't need Karu being burned alive for unjust acts he didn't commit just because of being a 'vampire'; not after just getting him back. Zien didn't think he would be able to handle it.
"What other stuff do we need to know?"

"you drank from him?" Caiin asked, sounding half shocked, half amazed as he stared between the two men. Karuso almost gave a gaze as if to say 'should i feel guilty?'. "You must trust him very much..." the scholar said turning to the elemental.
"Visibly, he passes easily, and luckily, you two have arrived during a time when the descendants of the Vampires are... around. You should probably know that the Daywalkers, the descendants you wish to know about, or the Liberimmunis, is the official name to say, were locked away in the Land of Crows for some time, several centuries in fact. They locked themselves away by their own choice for their own reasons after the Jewel War, again, another story for later. Now though, they've reopened their borders. Though very well guarded, they're happy to let most people in as long as they bring no threats.
But yes, Karuso pass for a Daywalker, just be careful with your fangs... they're much.. larger than Daywalkers these days. Since they rid themselves of vampirism they're evolved to have smaller fangs than their ancestors. You could always visit if you like, the City of Crows, i've heard, is a magnificent place to be. As well as all the other locations of Magic Earth"

At the trailed off observation from the hermit, the elemental raised a brow but rolled his eyes soon after. "Course I trust him...wouldn't have done it if I hadn't. Besides, if there wasn't trust we wouldn't be here right now, and Karu's saved my handsome butt plenty of times to have earned it time and time again."
Zien was firm about what he said, and he believed every word. And he would make sure that the rest of these narrow minded people believed it too.
Hearing that Karu could pass off as one of those descendants was good to hear, meant they had a way in. In a new bizarre place like this fitting in was key, even if it was a bit odd. Hiding long fangs would be difficult at times, though not completely hard, Karu didn't smile or laugh much when Zien wasn't around in order to actually flash his pearly whites.
"I think we can manage some of that. But what do we do now...we have no money...no place to stay, just the clothes on our backs and little to no knowledge of this place...aside from what the dragons gave us and that was just plain weird..."

"ah, yes" the old scholar said, Zien was right to wonder where they would go. "Well" he then added "I'm sure i have a spare map around here..." he began searching through the papers and scrolls around him before pulling out one scroll in particular "here we are" he said, spreading it out before them on the table. "It's woven with thread made from the roots in the World Nexus" he leaned over to shakily press his finger tip on the part of the world that had neatly written 'The Shard'. The seemingly painted world began to fade in with the colour of the thread and then the image seemed to come back like the ink swam through the thread like wild fire. It showed The Shard now, it showed the Grand Library of Kuj'anast, the city, the Crossing and the surrounding land.
"... THankyou" Karuso began, but he narrowed his brow and had to repeat what Zien said. "But where can we go and how. Karuso and Zien weren't familiar with this world, they didin't know how everything worked. "Anywhere" he said. "here" the old man then pulled out a satchel of coins within. "Here's a bag of Octen, i don't need it. To be honest i got it from travelling with a group of adventurers, i didn't do much except record the journey" "Uhm..." "Go on, please. My gift to you" Caiin smiled. "And if you want some advice where to go, reach Neutral City, it will be the most familiar to you"

As the hermit Caiin rummaged through things and pulled out a map, the elemental stared at it as it went about being 'magical' like everything else in this place. "A magical map...wonderful..."
Was there anything here that was 'normal'? Course in Zien's view and history of things considering, no, he wasn't normal and his life wasn't normal. Clearly this place wasn't normal, however, that was its normal. Zien just wasn't sure how this was going to go, in a place strange to them; strange people and history. So much to take in thus far and they hadn't even started on really acknowledging the existence of other races.
The info the dragons gave them was that sort of back of the mind information. Zien not fully aware of it till something came up and it flashed to the forefront of his mind.
Coming out of his own thoughts, the blond caught the last bit of Caiin's words. "Neutral City...there a war going on with a name like that?" he asked. Zien was hoping not and it was just a weird name.

With the mention of a war the old man chuckled to himself as he said "Oh, goodness, no" he chucked some more, Karuso giving an odd look. "it's named Neutral City because it was founded by a group of people that didn't follow any of the guilds, its neutral. Anyone can live there, anyone can go there, it's just favoured by those that don't want the guilds up their noses, its like getting away from the city and into a smaller town, its far smaller than the other cities. " he then squashed himself back into his chair, moving his lips around in only a way a gummy old man would.
"How much money is this?" Karuso then asked, looking within to see the many aged coins. "It's enough, my boy" he replied with an honest smile."The small ones are 1 octen each. The larger, 10, the ones with squares cut from the middle are 50, and the few in there with an Octahedrom replacing that hole are worth 100" he divulged, tapping his finger tips on the edge of the chair.
"Oh, an by the way. If you do ever wish to return to Non-Magic Earth, return to The Crossing and ask the Dragons. I see no reason why they should keep you here against your will - oh!" he then fumbled around within the crease of his chair as he pulled out an old piece of paper, it was thicker than most and had been folded a few times. It seemed to glisten under the right angle and lighting as though it had a few golden strands threaded through it. "Take this too, it's enchanted psychic paper. It will let you contact me through writing on it. I have the other half here, in case you get confused" he finished with yet another smile and lean forwards.

"We got that going for us at least..." came Zien quick reply. They had left an essential 'war' back on non-magic earth as they called it. Though the name seemed off with the fact that there was some there. But the guilds the Hermit mentioned, had the elemental slightly worried.
Zien was going to ask about it, but Karu asked about the money and how much they had just been given. As Caiin rambled on in his old man way, the blonde figured that there was a decent amount in there. Enough to give them a good head start for now. Zien wasn't stupid as he knew they would have to find a way to earn money or scrounge off the land...the unfamiliar land that is.
The fact that they could return to where they came from surprised Zien. "We can go back? I just assumed he couldn't...." Shaking his head, he was finding this getting more and more overwhelming and mind boggling. Now he was handing Karu 'psychic paper' for a means of communication; helpful but weird.
"With money we have a means to survive. We know that we need to keep your true idenitty secret...we know now to be going to some of those nasty places; the map helping us on where to go," Zien said as he counted off his fingers while staring into nothing. "...a means to communicate and a place to head to...anything else...oh, the guilds. Will they give us any problem before reaching Neutral City?"
Aside from that, Zien didn't think there was anything else they needed to talk about...well there was, but all the basics and important stuff was covered.

The old man watched intently as Zien began to list all the bits and pieces of information he had handed to them. After only a couple of points, the old man realised it must be quite the handful. Coming ontot he subject of the guilds, he chuckled lightly and shook her head before managing to say "Oh no, my boy. The guild's won't bother you at all. They only get involved if you become a man hellbent on domination" he chuckled some more. "the nearest guild Capital is Asmodius far east near Albanoch Desert. They're simply an army based guild that only care if you summon an army of no-gooders. You'll see our world is a peaceful one as of late, as a whole. Minor criminal acts now and again, just like any world. But it's good." he rambled on. "The guilds work together to create harmony, each of them creating a different part of the perfect circle. The injustira bringing Order and Protection. Asmodius enforcing Freedom and Strength. The Arcaz seek knowledge and manipulate to create ease, academics and so forth, whilst the Castayu seek Growth and life. They're the guilds of the Guildeam, our ruling government. the fifth guild, the Conclave focuses on Ambition and Darkness, but they're under there own power and won't bother you." he finished, accidentally giving them a speech on the guilds.

"Peaceful...that's a perk, since the one we came from had a tendency to lack that," he droned out.
Hearing about the guilds and how they maintained the peace together, it was an efficient system sounded like. One that would be hard to overcome as well from an enemies standpoint. And since neither Karu or Zien were planning of doing any sort of overthrowing or dominating, the fact that they wouldn't be bothered was comforting.
Turning to look at Karu, he grinned. "Maybe staying here wont be so bad huh Karu..." he said still smiling before raising from the chair.
There were still plenty of questions but ones they could find out themselves. Zien was aware of the things they needed to watch for regarding Karu's race and the things to keep in mind through out the countries here. Perhaps things would turn out better...more peaceful. Zien could actually spend time with Karu now and not worry about looking over his shoulder.
"Thanks old man for all your help, if there's nothing else we need to know right now we should probably head out. Lots to see and do, and plenty of time to do it in," he said with his signature boyish grin; the first time since Zien had used it since coming to this world.
