Lunch had been pretty quiet, but it seemed that the afternoon had been left free for whatever they wanted to pursue. Arian had decided to take the opportunity to have a look around the kitchen. So far, at least two of the victims appeared to have died due to something that they'd consumed so if he looked around a little then mayhaps he'd be able to find something strange or out of place there. He looked a little surprised to see his room mate there when he got there giving the blond a quiet nod before starting to look around, while trying to ignore the fact that the other had appeared to go to the kitchen only to eat. ----------------------------------------------- Marlin for his part had decided to take the opportunity had headed in the direction of Lillie Logan’s room and see whether there was anything strange or out of place there. He wasn't hoping for too much - she was the first victim and enough time had passed for the killer to have perhaps covered their tracks - but you never knew, maybe he would get lucky.

Ilse had been reluctant to part with her laptop and cellphone for the weekend, to be honest- she had signed up for this murder mystery weekend having been reminded of things such as Umineko, but parting with her connection to the world of social media was... a little too much to ask of her. Still, she'd dressed up in lolita fashion, which- while it wasn't period dress as much as cosplay, worked for her- and begrudgingly left her electronics at home for now, hoping not to miss out on too much. So far, things had turned out pretty interesting- they were investigating a 'murder', while there were other 'deaths' happening in the process. With the latest 'death' this morning, lunch was quiet, and when the group was left to their own devices, Ilse decided she'd go off and investigate Caroline Davis's room- there wasn't much time for doing so in the morning, and she wanted to see if she could find any leads the others hadn't yet.

Almost an entire day had passed and already they were missing two out of the eight people they started the weekend with. The matter weighed heavily on Hafwen's mind as she made her way down the hallway with the intent of checking out Lillie Logan's room.
The woman in question might be long gone but she figured that if she could chance upon any of her personal belongings like a diary or perhaps some letters exchanged between herself and any of the other house guests, perhaps that might shed some light on the events that led right up to her demise and prove if anyone had been lying through their teeth about the situation the entire time.

Alice looked furtive and almost frightened as she beckoned Darren to a back coerner of the library, sitting down at a small table and gesturing for him to take a seat. "I hate to think that what's going on now might be connected with my sister's death..." She leaned forward. "It was such an awful affair. You'll want to sit down, the story's a bit long...You see, my sister fell very in love with Joseph Hall. She wasn't alone, of course, he's still quite the ladies' man, even after everything..." Her hand clenched into a fist. "Father was away on business, I had a young daughter, and Mother...Mother has never been...well. They went out together. Unchaperoned - Lillie slipped out. Annie Noonan caught them, and she just had to tell everyone. From there, it spiraled absolutely out of control." She folded her hands on the table. "Edward Chapman tried so hard to help, sweet boy that he was. Said it was impossible, the rumors couldn't be true, because Lillie was with him. His heart was in the right place, but unfortunately, as rumors do, they just got worse. Now Lillie was a two-timer. There were other things circulating at the time, and well...poor Lillie was always so fragile."Were Haley paying attention to the grounds, she would have noticed both an open gardening shed with a tipped-over bucket of green paint and a fishpond.
In the kitchen were leftovers from the previous two meals, and a chocolate cake that was intended to be the first night's dessert as far as food went. It would take a slightly more clever investigation to find a small mortar and pestle in one of the cabinets, with a strange white substance."litian"] Lillie Logan's room looked to be the room of any young woman - decorated with lace and frills, and seemingly untouched for two years. There was a thin layer of dust over everything. However, poking out from under the bed and in one of the drawers were two ripped pieces of paper - bits of Lillie's diary?litian CLUE GET!A ripped page of a small diary, torn in half and then in half again. This quarter-page is the top left corner, and it reads "Caroline has aba / now Elsie say / child. She has always / rned with our social / nd I must be destroying" While it would be very difficult to overhear the conversation between Alice and Darren, there was certainly something else to find in the library - namely another piece of a diary page!and be blue CLUE GET!This looks to be the bottom left corner of a diary page, smaller than some of the others. It reads "my health / so very, ve / been conce / position / it." There is little of interest in Caroline's room, except, oddly, what looks to be another diary piece. Baffled by the words on the page, Jude sat and stared at them for a very long time, lost, before he got up to go back to his room in search of his two roommates. Maybe they'd found something, and since they were the only ones he really knew -- well. They seemed like the best bet, just now.

The dust coating everything suggested that no one had been in Lillie's room for a bit, however Marlin's attention was drawn to something poking out from under the bed. Bending down for a closer look Marlin noticed it as a ripped piece of paper, closer observation showing that there was writing on it. Straightening up, Marlin looked at the words thoughtfully. He was about to tuck the piece of paper away and head back to the room to see if one of his room mates had managed to find anything when he realised that he wasn't the only person in the room. "Have you managed to find anything in here?" He asked the blue-haired teen who it seemed had also had the same idea of checking out Lillie Logan's room.

There had been leftovers from the previous two meals in the kitchen, along with a chocolate cake that had looked really chocolatey. Nothing had really looked out of place and Arian had considered mayhaps going and checking out somewhere else, when he remembered the cup on Caroline's floor. Annie had died after apparently drinking wine, but it had been kind of early for Caroline to be drinking wine - well at least if she had died this morning and not in the night - so Arian figured he could at least look in a few of the cabinets before he moved on and tried checking somewhere else. His search of the first two cabinets yielded nothing out of the ordinary and Arian had decided to go check somewhere else. After a quick wave to his room mate he had found himself heading in the direction of the grounds in the hope of having better luck there. Guardian Cosmos figured I should probably quote just in case

Darren drummed his fingers on the table after he sat down. Listening to the story before nodding his head. "You said other things were circulating? What other things?" He crossed his hands in front of him on the table, tilting his head slightly. "Also, your mother's health... by well, do you mean physically... or... mentally?" Wellness could easily mean madness at this point in time. "Do you really think your sister commited suicide? You said she was fragile? Surely with both Edward and Caroline by her side she had some level of support from them and your family? You didn't believe she was... as Elise put it so plainly.. a tramp?"

Alice shook her head a little. "I don't know the source, but some people were saying Lillie was pregnant. That couldn't have been true, I don't think..." She tapped her fingers on the table. "She wouldn't have." She bit the inside of her cheek. "I shouldn't say, but you do need to know...Mother has never been mentally well." Her face sank. "Mother was too concerned about our reputation, and I didn't realize how quickly she was spiraling until it was too late..."
"But no, I don't believe she was a tramp at all, and that's all I can say. Never know who's listening..." She stood up, turning to walk away.

Saturday Evening: Gunshots in the Dark
Dinner, like lunch, is quiet and subdued, and visitors are asked to return to their beds.
Late at night – turning around to morning, almost – a gunshot rings out, followed by a woman’s scream.
Out in the gardens behind the house, Alice Logan stands in front of the dead body of Edward Chapman. Miss Logan is covered in blood, and Edward’s right hand is wrapped around a pistol.
“He-he said he was sorry about what happened to Lillie, and then he just…” Alice begins, but she breaks into tears before she can finish.

As soon as Darren had heard the shots he'd darted off toward them, running full tilt only to stop once he reached the gardens. Frowning he moved over to Alice and placed a comforting hand on her shoulder. If he didn't know any better he'd almost say they were actually experiencing a real murder plot. He loved when actors could really make him feel for their characters. "Alice, I know this must be quite traumatic for you, but was there anything else Edward said before... What were his exact words if you can remember?"He hated to interrogate the poor woman right after seeing one of her sister's friends shoot himself - as Darren was not the kind to suspect Alice of shooting him and trying to make it look like a suicide. "Come, let's get you cleaned up..."

If the gunshot didn't wake Hafwen up, the scream that followed definitely would have sent the blue-haired teen up and running directly to its source so as to check it out. She wasn't really sure what to think or feel when she saw that the other person who was already there before her and attending to Alice was none other than Darren, taking the spot next to Edward's body to see if there was anything in particular that could help shed some light as to the transpired events prior to his demise.
"... what happened out here Alice?" Glancing briefly at the visibly distraught lady, she shifted her attention back to Edward once again then went on to check his pockets to see if she could find anything at all. "Surely you wouldn't have thought it wise to be alone out here in the wee hours of the morning given how dangerous it has been as of late..?"

Alice was physically shaking when Darren put a hand on her, hands unclenching and reclenching over and over again. "He asked me to meet him out here. I thought it was strange, because it was so...so late. And with everything happening...but I think he just...wanted someone there." She had to pause for a moment. "He said he was sorry, sorry he'd made things worse, but that after Caroline...he couldn't...keep going. And then he..." She broke into sobs again. "I reached for the gun but I was too slow," she said. There was a layer of guilt in her voice. "If I'd been quicker..."
Edward's pockets were devoid of anything specific, and in fact it seemed the only thing he had brought outside with him was the small-caliber pistol he'd used to take his own life via gunshot to the head.

Sunday Morning:
A loud scream in the early morning hours once again draws the visitors and residents of the house to one of the bedrooms – this time that of Alice Logan.
Alice lays on her bed as if asleep – but the illusion is shattered by the apparent cut across her throat and the blood staining her pillows and sheets!
Standing over her is her mother, covered in blood and whimpering pathetically.
"No, my baby, not my second baby too...no!"OOC Info You all know the drill by now!

By now, Ilse had begun to equate the sound of someone screaming with yet another death. Given the nature of this whole 'murder mystery', Ilse wasn't too terribly surprised. Still, like everyone else, when they were awoken by someone yet again screaming, Ilse dutifuly followed after everyone else to Alice Logan's room, and couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at the scene. "What exactly happened here?" Ilse inquired. Obviously, someone had died, but when the only other person in the room when they arrived was covered in blood, it raised not just eyebrows, but questions as well.
