A hand casually tousled the back of his hair, a habit he’d never really broken when he had something on his mind. He was happy for his friend, he really was, and that alone could have been evident by the smile that had been so rare to find for so long. But he couldn’t deny that monster, a festering growth that was sick and green with envy. ”If you say so,” he shrugged, as he sat down at the table and relaxed with a slouched posture and an arm draped over the back of his chair. He sort of smiled, he didn’t really know what Damien had exactly meant, but, he’d always known how close Brownie had been.
”You don’t say, huh?” Dominic laughed, shook his head and busied his hands with the menu, but he already knew what he wanted. ”Can’t say I saw that one coming.” His smile wavered into a thin wry thing while his thoughts delved, always so quick to bring up the past. In some way or another, he still really couldn’t believe that his friend had forcibly failed a class. He didn’t even think it was possible! ”—I’m just surprised you’re not broken from all that, having to fail nonsense, I could picture it now,” he mused, a deviant smirk on his lips until Damien’s next words had thrown him off his train of thought.
”Hey now, I’ll have you know, I almost bloody well got an O in everything, so, there!” He feigned his anger by chunking the nearest item at him, a rolled up ball of napkin, and the feint scowl (hiding a laugh beneath it all, of course.) ”Eeehh, I can’t really remember what else I did to my schedule, I know I dropped astronomy, I just can’t remember what else.” He shrugged and paused to order a glass of butterbeer for now. ”I had half a mind to take advanced flying again, just for another excuse to have some time on the pitch, but,
“I don’t want to scare all the second years.” He mused. It was a blatant lie, but, it was on he would much rather prefer to delude himself in than the truth.
As much as Dominic wanted to continue their brief conversation on his parents, he lamented and gave a simple nod. It was hope, though, enough hope to think that maybe one day his own family might just turn around and accept him, and Grace. Either way, he only had another year with them, with his birthday so late in the year, he’ll turn seventeen around the winter holidays of his sixth year, and then he’ll never have to think about going home again. ”So how are you and Marina doing? I never seen you around the castle last year, except well, in classes.”

Alondra smiled took his hand, linking her fingers in with his. She looked over and checked out the menu. He mentioned her brothers and she look at the door and then looks back at him. "Well they're in town on business but they should be out a while. I'm just happy to have some time with you." She responded, though she wanted more time, but they would just do the job and get back like normal. "How about we get some food? Are you hungry or just want to share something?" She inquired looking at the options, she knew she wanted a drink as normal but wasn't terribly hungry. She looked around and there were people around but it was not very busy. Alondra let go of his hand a moment and pulled her stool closer to his so she was right next to him. She like to be close to someone as it had been a long time since she had been close with someone in a intimate way. "So one of these days we need to go on a real date you so start planning."She joked though she would be happy to have a date where she didn't have to worry about who could come in and if she'd have to leave at a moments notice. By then her stomach was honestly growling, and she couldn't wait to eat. She didn't eat here very often, given that her mother usually cooked and when they did eat out it was usually at a small cafe near home, but she did recall liking their food. She glanced over her shoulder at Remy and Dhyl, then put a hand on Sebastian's shoulder as she steered him towards a table and sat down.
Sebastian climbed up into a chair, proud of himself for doing it and glad that Adalaide had let him. His mum and dad were always doing everything for him, and it was annoying sometimes. But Adalaide always let him walk places and get in chairs and things on his own. It was his favorite thing about his sister. He tugged on her sleeve for a second and, when she looked at him, he waved for her to come closer. She leaned her face towards his and he gave her a little kiss on the tip of her nose, then leaned back, clapping and giggling like a little madman. She chuckled and ruffled his hair, giving him a quick peck on the forehead, all the while shaking her head. Her brother was a strange child sometimes. ════════════════════════════════════════════════ (( OOC: )) ** Exit scene, move to Leaky Cauldron **

He could feel his hair being messed up, as the three year old had to use it to hold on. He sat down beside Ada, leaving a seat for Remy, and one for Todd. Todd, not wanting to climb down, tried to remain where he sat, but his brother was having none of it. Long arms easily lifted the toddler, making Todd tug on the silken black hair, causing Dhyl to make an odd squawking sound. When the child was safely in a chair of his own, The older teen frowned, his normally perfect hair looking ruffled. Todd tried to give an innocent look, sipping harmlessly on his sippy cup. He thought Dhyl looked okay, even with funky hair! He reached into his diaper bag, then grabbed a colorful stuffed cow, then cuddled it, trying to avoid any wrath his brother might have. Dhyl, on the other hand, didn't seem to notice his hair was ruffled, and instead looked over a menu, stomach grumbling a bit. "Any idea what's good here?" He blinked, looking between Ada and Remy. {OoC: Todd is Wearing} So Cal is where my mind states But it's not my state of mind I'm not as ugly, sad as you Or am I origami, folded up and just pretend Demented as the motives in your head I alone am the one you don't know You need take heed, feed your ego Make me blind when your eyes close Sink when you get close, tie me to the bedpost

Remy followed Dhyl and Ada into the Leaky Cauldron, then sat at the table they had chosen. Dhyl and Todd had a struggle for a few minutes, resulting in a rather... wild hairdo. It was quite weird to see the.... vain young man looking rumpled in any way. She glanced at Ada, a soft smile on her face. Dhyl asked about food and gold eyes flicked in his direction. "Um.. their roast beef and Yorkshire pudding is good, so's the shepherd's pie. Romy likes their fish and chips... b-but I really wouldn't be able to provide any input on that, now would I?" She giggled nervously, not sure if Ada knew why it was a joke, of sorts. "I'm allergic to fish. Always have been." Had she actually had a conversation with Ada? Outside the Pitch, at any regard? She figured now was as good a time as any! "So, Ada, how's your summer been? Excited for school?"

Damien snickered a bit at Dominic's indignation over the OWLs, dodging the throw and smirking. "Look, Dom, I know you're a Beater and all, but the answer isn't always 'hit them with a ball,' mate," he teased, grabbing the ball and tossing it back at his friend. He glanced at the menu, not even remotely actually thinking about what he was going to get. He paused, his eyes growing curious. "You dropped Astronomy? That's pretty much the only class you've got with Grace, though, isn't it? I mean... she hasn't been showing up to any day classes... I heard the rumors, mate, and... I mean, not that I think you two were doing anything weird, but... well I mean a bit of it sort of made sense." Damien didn't mention which bit, figuring that Dom knew him well enough and that he'd been obvious enough that it was easy to guess. Honestly, Damien didn't find the idea of Grace being a vampire even remotely surprising, or off-putting... although he had to wonder if Dom's mother had also heard that particular bit of gossip. It couldn't be making their relationship easier, if she had. The Montagues already had a stick up their arses over her being halfblooded; being a vampire might just be the icing on the cake. Damien glanced at Dom, his expression serious. "My dad wanted me to tell you, if things at home are... well, awful... you're more than welcome to stay with us. Your family kept me away from my mother, he figured we should offer you the same. And the McHalens are family, so Grace's more than welcome to come see you. I mean, he doesn't know about... you know, and I dunno how he'd react, but I don't think he'll bat an eye at her keeping weird hours." Damien honestly had no idea where his father stood on the subject of vampires, and didn't care to find out. Last Summer he'd dropped the bombshell with Marina, this Summer he'd have to explain that he wasn't interested in studying Law or being a Governor or anything like that, that he wanted to make wands instead... he didn't feel like asking his father how he felt about vampires. But, Damien himself tended to stay up late into the night. Wesley said it was a normal teenage thing. So, he'd probably just assume it was the same with Grace and Dom.
When Dom asked about him and Marina, he bit back a sigh. Damien always felt a bit awkward talking about Marina with Dominic, if only because he sort of felt like he was rubbing his good fortune in his best friend's face. He didn't want Dom to be so miserable, wanted things to be as good for him and Grace as they were for himself and Marina. But, he couldn't change how Dom's parents felt. "Things are fine. She's going to the Ball with me. I figure, she got me to wear jeans and such, it's the least she could do to put on a nice dress and some heels." He chuckled a bit at that. Marina actually looked damn good in a nice dress, and he wasn't even going to get started on the heels... his mind started to wander, and he frowned a bit, forcing it back to the present. There were certain things he simply did not even need to let his mind touch right now. That was definitely one of them.
Damien noticed Adalaide come in with what she could only assume was her little brother tugging on her skirt, followed by Dhylan, who also had a toddler with him, and... Remy? Damien wasn't quite sure; she wasn't in their house or year. But, it seemed right. He gave Adalaide a small wave, smiling, a bit surprised to see her out. She tended to spend all Summer at home in her greenhouse. Go figure. He wasn't usually one to go out, either.

Yay!' spacespac ════════════════════════════════════════════════ Adalaide glanced at Dhyl, not really sure what to say. What had she gotten last time she'd been here? She thought it might've been the Yorkshire Pudding... when Remy said that the Pudding was good, she nodded in agreement. "I don't eat here very often, but I don't recall ever getting anything I didn't like, and I'm not a very picky eater, so I think I've probably had a few things. Not sure, though." Ada smiled a bit when Remy said she was allergic to fish. Ada didn't have any food allergies that she knew of, which was good, because she loved food. But, she wasn't particularly fond of fish. "I don't really like fish much, so I would say you're not missing anything. I'm sure some would disagree, though. Personally, I'm going to get the Shepherd's Pie. It's one of my favorite meals, no matter who cooks it." The Hufflepuff recalled a single instance in which she'd had a bad Pie, and it'd been truly awful, because the person who'd cooked it had been a truly awful cook... her Aunt Hanna. She loved the woman, but she needed to leave the cooking to her sister and her husband.
When Remy asked about Ada's summer, she blinked, caught a bit off-guard. She gave the Gryffindor a small smile and shrugged. "I dunno, fine, I guess. Home's a bit crowded. Michelle and her sister are living with us, along with... my mom's friend, Vicky, and her baby. I was used to it just being the four of us. And my dad's all up in arms over-" She stopped, blushing. How much did people know about her romantic life? She knew there'd been rumors, and she'd told Dhyl and Nell and a few others she had a boyfriend, but only her close friends. Oh, well. It wasn't as though Chris being a vampire was the only reason for a father to be out of sorts, so she didn't have to worry about them thinking it was weird that her dad was without that information. "Well, my mum sort of invited my boyfriend over for my birthday this week. Without asking my dad. And then told him that Chris'd be coming. So there's that. But other than that... I mean, everything's pretty normal. I think wandering around with Sebastian today has been the most excitement I've had all holiday." Well, that just sounded utterly boring... Ada couldn't quite say that she didn't prefer it that way. After the Masquerade Ball last Summer, she was more than happy to just sit at home and relax. But, she wouldn't deny that she was eager to get back to school. A girl could only read so many books, after all. "I'm not quite ready for school to start back up just yet, but I'm sure I will be in another week or two. But, until then, I can always keep myself busy in the garden." Ah, the garden. Her favorite part of being home, aside from her family, of course. Speaking of which, she needed to go into the greenhouse and check on a few things, dad'd put her in charge of some of the plants this Summer to give her a bit more responsibility (and to give her something to do so that she had an excuse to spend a few hours outside where the others were unlikely to follow). She thought that the Mandrakes might be ready to be repotted.
Sebastian poked Dhyl a bit, smiling. "I wike soup!" the toddler declared. His sister rolled her eyes a bit, and groaned, and he flashed her a strange look. Why was she groaning? Soup was tasty! He couldn't know that she was groaning because of course he wanted soup, the messiest possible thing the child could order, the thing that he'd likely get all over his shirt and the table and probably on her as well when she tried to help him at least keep some semblance of cleanliness. No, he just thought she suddenly had something against soup. Well, he'd show her! He'd get the soup and make her try it and she'd love it and then she'd see how good soup was! The toddler's expression became rather determined, his eyes narrowing. Honestly. How could she not like soup? ════════════════════════════════════════════════ (( OOC: )) ...

∞Lean on me, when you're not strong ❈And I'll be your friend ∞I'll help you carry on
Dhyl grinned at the girls, then set the menu down. "I'm pretty sure I've never eaten here. Dad always thought it was too grungy. Haha." He already knew of Remy's fish allergy, and had, for years. Ada said she didn't much like it, so the oldest girl was safe. "I like a few kinds of fish, particularly when my uncle brings fried catfish from the states." He gave a soft smile, one that showed a sense of fond happiness at the thought.
He listened to Ada talk, saying how Michelle and her sister had moved in, then mentioning her mother inviting her boyfriend for her birthday. He was curious what day that was in specific, since he wanted to give her a gift. He'd have to borrow an owl from his dad, but that didn't seem too bad a price to pay for one of his best friends. He had, after all, gotten gifts for Heather and Remy each year. "I think I'll have the turkey sandwich, since it seems good. Ada, since you mentioned birthdays, you wouldn't happen to want to divulge a date for yours, would you?" He sent her a grin, then lightly adjusted his hair, which seemed a sort of tic for him. She mentioned not wanting to go back to school just yet, and he nodded in full agreement. "I just got to start spending time with Todd! Not to mention, Dad mentioned something about uncle Grég coming to stay for a while... Which means I'll want to be at home. I haven't seen him since just before my first year." He gave a sigh, then looked at Sebastian when he claimed that he liked soup. Blue eyes met brown, silently asking his brother if he wanted the same.
Todd nodded up at his brother, then sat on his knees to see a little better. Wide brown eyes looked around, then the toddler looked at the boy sitting next to him, then gave a mischievous smile. Sneakily, he poked the other boy's side, then tried to act like he wasn't smiling, hoping not to get pointed out, then poked in return. He'd started playing this game with his sister, seeing who could get the most pokes before they giggled. It was rather fun, if you asked him!

Remy smiled lightly when Ada said she didn't like fish, since it made her feel a bit better about having to ask that no one order such a dish. Her eyes took note of Dhyl's smile as he mentioned his uncle, which brought a small smile to her own face. The young woman looked back at Ada as she began talking about how Michelle and her sister had moved in, making the girl wonder. Michelle... was the sister of the Hufflepuff that played alongside Dhyl and Ada as Chaser. Perhaps.... Conversation drifted to talk of birthdays and boyfriends, causing Remy to raise an eyebrow. "Happy birthday in advance, Ada. I hope you find the day lovely, even with dad and boyfriend drama." She grinned a bit more, lightly ruffling her short hair. Gold eyes peered around, a small smile on her face. Ada said she would be ready in a few weeks, and Dhyl mentioned not wanting to return, now he was surrounded by family. "I think I'm both ready and not. I mean, I want to go back, but... this is my last year, ya know? It's a lot to take in. Hopefully it won't be too bad. The only thing I'm worried about is NEWTs, and... that shouldn't be too hard. I mean, I'll have a lot more free time this year, what with not having to schedule and plan constantly. It'll be a nice break, I think." She gave a small nod, truly seeming like this didn't bother her in the least. At least she could still try out, and hopefully play her last season. At least Steele had been nice enough to give her that honor. She looked at the kids, seemingly playing, then looked around the room, before taking a deep exhale. "Have you guys gotten your OWL scores? How'd you do?"

”Tch, pfft, pssh, hmph, well—!” He drawled on sarcastically, a grin breaking past the bemused and haughty exterior he held himself in. ”If it was, we’d have a lot less angry folk then, wouldn’t you think? Eeh? Ehhh?” He smirked, nudging his elbow toward Damien just for show, knowing full and well he wasn’t about to lean all the way over and actually nudge him (that would have just been weird.) He jerked one way, swatted his hand to try and deflect but the ball hit him in the chest and rolled down into his lap, much to his dismay. He gave a rumpled frown as he decidedly put the napkin ball away. Conversation had turned to school, and the mention of Gracie knitted a sour expression on his features.
”Less class time, sure mate, but it’s more time to actually sit and see her… That, and not try and make the astronomy professor hate my guts. Blimey, I already sleep in that class enough as it is…” He shrugged, obviously making no mention to any inclination Damien had made. Everyone was entitled to their own opinions and observations, but, Dominic surely wasn’t going to tilt the scale in any direction if he had the choice. (Hell, at least his silence still left some questioning, if he opened his mouth, who knew what nonsense he’d spew.)
When Damien carried on to explain his father’s wishes, Dominic felt some sort of relief as the weight on his shoulders scattered for now. He mulled over it in thought, sipping on his butterbeer now that it had reached him. ”Yeah?” He offered a lopsided smile, the uneasiness starting to show no matter how hard he tried to hide it. ”I might take you up on the offer, at some point, but— I don’t know, I think they’re starting to give up? Or maybe they’re just losing their minds… Hell, I had swipe one of their vault keys from their room, they never leave it out…” He paused, realizing how weird that was suddenly, now that he stopped to contemplate it. A part of him wondered if the key was cursed, or maybe a trap? A low groan unconsciously reached his throat the more he dwelled.
”Oh—“ He blinked, rustled forth from his darkening thoughts. ”You were invited too? Seems like the Brighton’s invited everyone they knew, I wonder what’s the occasion…” He paused as his gaze followed Damien’s, spotting Adalaide with presumably her little brother, and Dhylan, with another little kid, too. Dominic blinked. And filing in after them, was the Gryffindor captain, or was it ex captain? That whole fiasco happened so close to the end of the year, he wasn’t even sure about the details other than the gritty rumors. He thought to nod in a silent greeting but, he didn’t really know any of them at all. He didn’t really know anyone…
”I really don’t want to go, I always hated formal balls, and such,” he, of course, lied. There was no way in hell he’d ever admit that he actually enjoyed those events, hell no. ”But… I guess I was hoping Grace’ll be there.” He shrugged again. ”Oh, I have a few meetings with scouts for the Welsh, French, and Translyvanian quidditch teams this summer, too. I can’t wait.” He grinned; relishing in this moment where, even if it all felt like a lie, he could just pretend that everything was falling into place.

"I'm pretty sure that's the reason we don't eat here much. Mum's a bit of a neat-freak. My dad tells her horror stories about the lesser used areas of Hogwarts being piled over with dust and cobwebs to give her nightmares... and I'm only half joking about that." The Hufflepuff giggled, and, noticing movement, turned her head a bit to see Damien waving and Dominic giving them a small nod. She smiled and waved at the two Slytherins, caught more than a bit off-guard at seeing Damien in what looked like a t-shirt... For once, Dominic was the more formally-attired of the pair. Then again, they hadn't been much of a pair lately... must be catching up. Ada considered going over to say hi, but figured it'd be rude to ditch Remy and Dhyl. Besides, even though she firmly believed the past was the past, Ada wasn't entirely sure Dominic did. After all, his best friend and one of hers were dating, and they still hadn't said a word to one another. The most interaction they'd had was when he'd broken her hip. Ah, well.
She turned back to her own table, smiling, and flushing ever so slightly, when Dhyl asked about the exact date of her birthday. Oh, hell. Well, he'd apparently been intending to buy her some shampoo or something anyway, now at least she could call it a birthday present and not worry quite so much about his spending money on her. "It's the twenty-first. And I'm sure it'll be fine. I just... It's a bit nerve-wracking. Things are... there are... unusual circumstances. And it's stressing me out a little bit." Adalaide hadn't meant to even bring up that her situation with Chris was anything but normal, but it'd just slipped out. Ah, well. If nothing else, she could tell them that he was a fair bit older than her. Not that his being older was really so unusual but she could make it work.
Adalaide noticed that Remy didn't quite seem to really mean it when she spoke of not having to 'schedule and plan constantly' meaning she'd get a nice break. But, she didn't say anything. Her situation had to be upsetting, no need to be called out when she tried to lie and say it wasn't. She might be lying to herself, too, and as much as it sucked and as little help as it actually was... sometimes it was the only ting you could do.
Sebastian saw his sister waving, and turned to see two dark-haired boys looking their way. He smiled and waved widely to them. He had no idea who they were, but Ada was waving at them, so they were obviously her friends. His sister didn't talk to strangers. He then felt someone poking him in the side, and turned to see Todd looking rather like he was trying not to smile. Sebastian gave the boy an incredulous look, confused, and poked him back. What was he doing? ════════════════════════════════════════════════ (( OOC: )) ...

Damien is...spacespacespacespace CURRENTLY // Looking Casual at The Leaky Cauldronspace CURRENTLY // single // crushing // loving Marina Aldredspaces CURRENTLY WITH // Domspacesp CURRENTLY FEELING // Amusedspacespa CURRENTLY THINKING // 'Bloody little prat! At least he can still laugh, things can't be so bad, then.' spacespac ∳ ∳ ∳ For my entire life I never knew what love was like, But now I've felt it's touch, and it's far too much for me to hold inside. ∳ ∳ ∳ ═════════════════════════════════════════════════
Damien laughed a bit. He highly doubted if people going around hitting one another with balls would make anyone less angry. Actually, it would probably make them more inclined to be. There was a reason civilization had won out over barbarianism, after all. People didn't tend to take kindly to being assaulted. But, he wouldn't argue with his friend. If he thought it was a viable solution, by all means, let him try it out... Damien was just looking forward to get to laugh at his mate when it happened.
The Slytherin nodded in agreement over less class time meaning more time to actually be with her... provided that Grace hadn't dropped the class. Which he wondered if she would, given that it was pretty much the only one she could attend... well, Ghost and Ghoul Studies was a night class as well, maybe he'd picked it up to take it with her? Damien took his friend's complete avoidance of the question of the truth behind the rumors as confirmation that, yes, Grace was a vampire. Otherwise, he was pretty sure Dom would've rushed to defend her. "I don't think I've ever fallen asleep in the class... but bloody hell if I didn't try. It's so damn pointless. I mean I get it if you're interested in Divination for some reason, but other than that... completely pointless." Damien was quite glad to be done with that class. He had absolutely no use for it. Getting to drop it had been one of the best things about getting his OWL scores. Having to drop Transfiguration because he'd only gotten an A had bothered him a bit, but he didn't mind overmuch.
Damien quirked a brow at Dom's response to his invitation. Giving up? As in they thought he was hopeless, or just didn't care to fight with him on it anymore? He supposed either one was preferable to the current state of things, but still. The latter, while depressing, at least meant they were likely to leave him alone. Ignore him, perhaps, be cold to him, almost certainly, but they'd not likely get in the way of his life. The former, on the other hand... that had been Damien's fear when returning home last summer. That his parents would think he was a hopeless disgrace, and cast him out. Take his name and his life from him in all but the most literal way. If they gave up on Dom and still cared to hurt him... the might do that. "You don't think they've got something up their sleeve, do you? Some plan on how to handle it? They might've given up, but... they almost might've come up with something that's made them... well, less concerned." Damien didn't mean to sound like such a pessimist, but he wasn't sure if Dom had thought of that. He tended to be a bit more of a glass half full sort of guy, especially when compared to Damien, which was part of the reason that Damien had found his being so depressed rather distressing. But, being an optimist had its pitfalls... namely that you tended to not turn a discerning gaze upon good fortune. Dom was woefully inclined to simply taking the good and not considering the bad.
On the subject of the ball, Damien shrugged. He had no idea what was going on, why they were hosting an event or why anyone on the guest list had been invited. He supposed that, given the relatively high station of both their families, it was to be expected that they would have both merited an invitation. Or, rather, that their fathers had. He smirked, though, at Dom saying he didn't want to go. "Oh, sure you don't, Dom. I'm sure your quite put out at having to attend." Damien often wondered if Dom really thought he kept secrets so well from his best friend. Damien knew all too well how his friend really felt about such things; he craved the attention, for a reason Damien would never understand. If not for the negative backlash on Grace, he doubted very much if Dom would care that rumors were being whispered behind his back. Actually, Damien was rather inclined to think Dom would enjoy knowing that people were talking about him, if for nothing more than a laugh. Damien was all too good at reading his friend's moods, his silences and reading between the lines when he spoke. Even now, as Dom went on about Quidditch scouts, he heard that underlying note, the strange melancholy, and the need to make things seem normal. He was doing better than he had been, at least, though knowing that he was still so troubled bothered Damien greatly. If he had his way, he'd be likely to go to the Montague's castle this very second and pack his friend's things. The Edgeworth Manor had more than enough room for one more person, and he'd likely be infinitely happier away from his parents. But, Damien wouldn't force his friend; it was far too much like what his parents were doing.

∞Lean on me, when you're not strong ❈And I'll be your friend ∞I'll help you carry on
Dhyl nodded, then chuckled at Ada's words. "I can see how that might be nightmare inducing. I had to go in the crawlspace under my house once. Ended up showering for two hours straight. It was awful. Lucky for me I'm now too tall to fit." The teen gave a shiver at the memory. There had been so many spiderwebs.
Todd looked up at the word birthday, a curious expression on his face. It was the blonde girl's birthday?! How exciting! When she said it was the twenty-first, he blinked, not sure what today was. After a shrug, he poked Sebastian's side again, this time with a tiny grin.
Dhyl looked at Remy, nodding. "OWLs... I could have done better. I bloody near failed Mythology! All perfect, then the stupid E..." his voice trailed off into a mumble, an annoyed expression on his face. He would never get over the less then perfect grade.

Remy snorted in a small giggle at the visible look of disgust on Dhyl's face. He looked like he'd rather arm wrestle a bear than go back in that place. Not that she blamed him. She wouldn't want to crawl in a tiny space filled with bugs, snakes, and lord knows what else. When he mentioned his owls, she looked at him in shock. He thought... an E was failing? What would he think of the score she'd gotten in Defense... or worse... History. She happened to know that the tall boy had a particular love of History. Maybe that's why she hadn't told him... Oh well.

The choking soon dissolved into laughter, and she slapped the table, leaning back in her chair, rolling her eyes at Dhyl. After a moment, she slapped him on the arm, a bit harder than she'd meant to, half laughing and half glaring at him. "Dhyl an 'E' is hardly 'bloody near failing.' It's an E. As in Exceeds Expectations. How, exactly, is that near failing? I think I got an E on that one, too. And come to think of it, I got an A on Transfiguration, and on Astronomy. So chill out." She rolled her eyes again, watching Todd as he poked her little brother, and she shrugged. If the boys were getting along and playing with each other, that was good with her. She didn't need to understand it.
Sebastian's eyebrows crinkled. Was this a game? He poked Todd back, watching Todd carefully, his expression curious. The other boy was smiling now, just a little bit, like he was trying not to. Maybe that was the point? To poke each other and not smile? Sebastian could do that! He waited patiently for the return poke, bouncing a bit. ════════════════════════════════════════════════ (( OOC: )) ...
