grasshopper pie LOL and then Jordun comes strolling up like "Sup bro, what'd I miss?" Her touch was like electricity and everywhere her fingers went he felt a tingle upon his skin, as if she ought never to stop touching him. His hand at the small of her back drew her close and the other went to brush the hair from her face and trace the curve of her ear and her neck. His breathless laugh joined hers. "Silly would be to kiss you and come away worrying about the sanctity of the family's reputation," he said, which indeed he had done. "If you can forgive a fool who just wants to kiss you again."
Unnoticed by both, little Idriss pranced away through the grass, a silent witness to their moment of discovery. That is, a silent witness who had been busy transmitting updates to her Chosen. If Andrus and Chloe had thought their moment entirely private, they were wrong. But Jordun's interest in them seemed to be purely academic, studying them as if they were highly fascinating subject matter that had, in the end, proven his hypothesis correct.
As the little doe came scampering back, Jordun reached to smooth the velvet-soft fur on her happily perked ear. "I told you so, didn't I?" He asked quite proudly. "Now that they found each other, I had better interrupt or we will be here all night." He picked himself up off the ground where he had settled down, brushed the grass from his trousers, and followed Idriss back into the open. He could feel the excitement from Idriss shooting through him, but the doe's usually jubilant demeanor masked the extra thrill she had gotten from witnessing this fine moment, and she went bounding off to rejoin their company.
"Well. I would say I was sorry for interrupting, but I really am not."

"Of course. How could I not?"
It had, of course, been her first kiss and as thus had caused her to want more. She took her own now, cupping Andrus' cheek and kissing him again. Sweet energy hummed from her lips to her ears and down her spine. She could get used to this, even if it had to be done in the shadows of private places. That was where it should go on, anyway. She'd simply have to sneak in now. Imagine, she had thought her adventure over when really it was just beginning.
The kiss broke when Idriss appeared, and Chloe nearly tumbled off of their rock when Jordun followed. her cheeks a bright scarlet, the girl laughed and clung to the side to avoid an uncomfortably damp excursion.
"I should say I feel bad you've arrived upon this, but I really do not." she said, running to the grass and heaving her arms around Jordun. If it weren't for him, they wouldn't have been here at all. Andrus would have forced himself to forget her, and Chloe would have lost him forever. They'd both have suffered. Jordun was a friend in life, simply because he was an interesting and kind soul, but she held so much fondness for him for his attitude, his pushing and his loyalty.

Jordun laughed aloud as he wrapped Chloe up in a warm hug. Over her shoulder, his met that of his brother, and if he had ever doubted that he had done the right thing, the light in Andrus' eyes put all those fears to rest. Jordun knew he had been right all along when he said that the little hell-raiser in his brother was not so much dead but sleeping, waiting to be roused again, even if Andrus had not.
He straightened and let her go, reveling in her infectious joy. "I ought not to make my dear brother jealous," he joked as Andrus came near. There was such a warmth around them that Jordun felt convinced there would be a very real sort of happiness in their home again after so many years of it missing.
"You're a proper fiend, aren't you," Andrus answered, grinning. Not for the first time, he felt a special sort of privilege in having Jordun for a brother. Here was a man who would go to any lengths to ensure his happiness, and much as their father couldn't see the merit of having Jordun in the family, Andrus had always known better. He knew all along, Andrus mused, wondering at his brother's uncanny knack for being peceptive.

Chloe laughed richly, bouncing on her heels when Andrus approached. She had to go up on her toes to kiss him on the chin, but it was enough for now. Her heart was humming, and all through her there were adrenaline-laced tingles that made her feel generally gleeful. She would like to stay out all day, to ride through fields and valleys with her Coincidence and her dear friend, but that didn't seem likely. She had to slow down, she reminded herself. This was real life. Nobody at home was going to support Andrus' actions, and somebody certainly expected him home.
"Oh, he's terrible, isn't he? Running out on parties and the like. Will we be heading back soon?"

"And that is precisely why you love me," Jordun said to them both, catching Idriss and swinging onto her back with somewhat more practiced ease while the little doe danced about.
Andrus shook his head, amused, and encircled Chloe's shoulders with one arm to pull her near and plant a kiss atop her head. "I suppose he has a point," he conceded, going to catch the horses and lead them back over.
"Yes, it would not do to be too conspicuously absent." There was no mounting block, so he turned to Chloe to lift her onto the mare's back. "But it isn't as though we have to hurry."

At his embrace, Chloe beamed. She kept telling herself that it was real, and still it seemed too good to be true. Perhaps it would hit her later. Perhaps it never would. She was fine with that possibility.
"Oh, indeed?" she asked, nervous for a moment to be lifted so high, but Andrus' hands were strong and steady. She mounted the mare with ease and stroked her strong neck.
"After you, milords," she teased, sending the boys a rather unladylike wink.

"Oh, don't-"
"With pleasure," Jordun announced. With an elated squeal, Idriss bolted, little legs moving in a blur as she tore off across the field.
Andrus sighed and chuckled, shooting Chloe a look and a helpless shrug. "Hang on tight," he cautioned before squeezing Archer into a gallop, and they would all race home.
