A broad smirk crossed Shanahan's face as the champion beckoned forward. The champion wanted it? He was gonna get it. Slowly, the former champion walked forward until he came in close quarters with the champion, then attempting to force him into a lock-up and immediately drive his knee upward in the man's gut!

OOF!
It would seem that both champion and challenger had the same idea as they locked horns, but the Black Star was just a bit faster on the draw that time. The impact wasn't enough to take the big man down, but he did stagger back a couple steps, halfway doubled over and holding his midsection.

With the champion doubled over, it gave The God of Punks the perfect chance to execute a rare move on the man. Perhaps a DDT, or a Neckbreaker.
... Or, neither. Matt wasn't going to be satisfied with just grounding the Devil Dog right now; no, something told him to drag this process out. Shanahan followed after Major and attempted to grab the man's head with both hands, before sending his knee flying upward in an attempt to smash it right into Devastation's face!

Major felt a sharp blow between his eyes and then everything went black. The next thing he knew, he was flat on his back, looking at the lights with the referee counting.
"FOUR!"
When he realized where he was and that he was still in the middle of a match, the champ quickly rolled over and tried to push himself back up off of the mat.

The God of Punks stalked around Major the entire time the man was down for the count. His eyes didn't leave the man for a moment, and when the rolled over and began to rise back up, Shanahan sought to halt that process. As Devastation got up to his base, Matt attempted to grab the Devil Dog's right ankle and yank it up into the air, before smashing it back down onto the mat to work the champion's knee!

As the champion's rise was interrupted, so too was the referee's count. Major was still a bit groggy after getting his brains rattled by the challenger's knee, so when his ankle was grabbed and hoisted into the air, it didn't dawn on him quickly enough to do something about it!
A jolt shot through his leg as Major's kneecap slammed into the barely padded pine of the ring mat with a thunderous impact, and the protective pads the champ wore underneath his trousers only absorbed a small fraction of the impact. That most certainly did not feel pretty, and the champ promptly rolled back onto his side as he cradled his knee.

"Hey! Did that hurt?!" Matt shouted down at the fallen champion, feigning concern. He was feeling a tad vindictive after what the man just did to his weathered arm, and now was his chance to begin giving Major his own handicap.
"Lemme help ya', pal!" The God of Punks reassured while attempting to deliver a crushing stomp down onto the right knee, regardless of the fact that Devastation was holding it. If some fingers got caught in his path, that wasn't his concern.

Major might have still had more than a few cobwebs cluttering the ol' noggin, but he wasn't stupid enough not to leave his good leg as a buffer between his opponent and his sore knee. When the challenger raised his foot to prepare for his stomp, the champ would attempt to drive the heel of his combat boot squarely into Matt's little Shanahans.

Major was playing below the belt tonight, and that was meant literally. The combat boot hit square with Shanahan's precious jewels, causing him to halt his assault with an abrupt gasp. A hand immediately went to his groin as he began to stumble away, heading towards the turnbuckle in a staggering pace. He had to get away and nurse the one thing that could continue the Shanahan line!
