"I'll be back," he said. He didn't mean that night, but he would be back to her soon. They always found their way back, and he hardly needed to tell her, but still. He did not want to risk losing her tonight as well, and he was going to make sure she understood that he was not just going to run away from this.
Even though that was what his every instinct told him to do.
He watched her for a long moment, then leaned to kiss her one last time, lingering and passionate, before he pulled away and leaped to run off. Not forever, he told himself. He had to face this.
Even if he didn't want to.
He owed it to Navi, and he owed it to Grus. He owed it to himself, really, to finally force himself to grow up and make some important decisions in his life. He just didn't know how. He needed a little time, to put things back together in his head.
Hopefully he would have someone waiting for him when he was finally ready.
