Arianne smiled softly, weakly, at the sound of her friends laugh, remembering their childhood. It hadn't been the best for either of them, with Arianne- then called by a very different name- spending every moment she wasn't with Adelaide or sleeping as a scullery maid, with her mother, and Adelaide given very little respect by her parents. And yet, every moment they found to be together, life felt perfect. It was an idyllic childhood... Until it was torn from her by the priestesses, all because the mirror only spoke to her. "Got it, Ela. I've been going by Anne." It would have been simpler to use my real name, no one knows it, but that would be an affront on the goddess, to reject the name given in hers for one given by my mortal mother. No sooner had she thought that, when she heard Adelaide speak the pet name she'd had in their childhood. It was like a wash of cold water, but still Adelaide smiled, because it was also a soothing balm. For a moment, dressed in the fabrics of a pirate, standing on a ship, hearing another name, Arianne could pretend her life had gone the way she had dreamed as a very small child, before she'd even met Adelaide. Just like Adelaide wished, Arianne laughed. "Oh, Ela, don't muck up that pretty face o' yers." This time, she didn't even realize her speech had changed.

Adrian heard them two girls speaking and come up behind them, "Think again Princess Adelaide. I know who you are." He whispered, "Its just that titles mean very little to me." he said with a smirk. "Your secret is safe with me. High Priestess and Princess. Most high class passengers I've ever had. Well, for the priestess I believe its supposed to be captive." He smiled and looked between then two of them. "You two speak like old friends. Is that the case? Or do you two just open up to others incredibly fast. And Anne, if I didn't know better, I'd say you were a pirate. Right down to the way you talk."

Adelaide snapped and gave a small smirk. "So you did know. Well, there goes my secret." She laughed softly again, making the bells sound once more. When Adrian caught on that they might've been old friends, Adelaide gave a small smile, becoming a bit shy. "Old friends indeed. We've known each other for a long while." She smiled, remembering the day she had decided to go into town alone and suddenly became the boy's teasing target. "Let's just say Lia saved me a while back." She took a deep breath in and smiled, the salty air was new to her and it gave her a wonderful feeling.

Arianne wasn't surprised when he whispered his knowledge, nodding. He seemed a very knowledgeable man, one who made sure to know whatever he needed to. "We appreciate the discretion." When he asked about their friendship, she nodded. "Indeed, and she is the knight charged with keeping me safe- which would be why she swung up here on a rope, nearly risking her life." Arianne shot Ela a slightly scolding look as she said it. When he mentioned the way she spoke, Arianne kept her features schooled, even as she felt a thrill of panic. "Well, I have been hiding out among the slums." She offered as a measly explanation, praying Ela knew better than to say anything referencing her past. Not that even Adelaide knew what her life had been like before they met. Glancing at Adelaide, Arianne smiled when she saw her enjoy the salt air. "You are new to the sea, right?"

Adelaide grinned sheepishly as Arianne shot her a scolding look. When asked if she was new to it, being out to sea, she nodded. "Of course. I never got to do anything unless it was following you around." She then went to the edge of the deck, starting into the ocean's water. Her eyes grew in amazement, and she took another deep breath in and smiled. "I could live on the sea forever, I've never felt so free."

Adrian raised an eyebrow, "Lia? I though her name was Arianne?" And he smirked to Arianne, leaning in, "And being somewhere, doesn't mean you immediately pick up mannerisms and new speech patterns, Priestess." He said before leaning back. "But the pirate gear suits you. Almost like you were born to be a mariner." He then looked to Adelaide, "Well, enjoy it whila ya can. Cause I'm dropping you off at the same place as the priestess."

Adelaide frowned and rolled her eyes. "I knew that already. I'm not stupid." She grumbled it under her breath, hoping no one heard her smart remark. She walked away from the edge and sighed, silently wishing she hadn't been born a princess. If I hadn't been born a princess would I still have met Arianne.

Adrian sharp ears picked up Adelaides remark. "Says the girl, who did something incredibly stupid. You could have very easily landed in the water and likely drowned. But, you did make it to the ship. But you were outnumberd, 35 to 1, yet you still proceeded the threaten me, with my armed crew surrounding you. What would you call that?" He said crossing his arms and staring at Adelaide. "At the very least I would call that foolish. And at most, incredibly stupid. Because you put not only yourself in danger, but you could have put Arianne in even more danger. Next time, try to be more subtle. You'll probably live longer."

Arianne's affectionate gaze turned to one of guilt when she heard Adelaide's remark about following her around. Though she never spoke of it, Arianne often regretted that Ela had signed her life away to the holy knights to follow her. I hadn't even been given a chance to stop her... From the day we met, she's been following me. At least she grew out of holding onto my skirt. Though not much older, Arianne's life had matured her a little faster than Adelaide. "Many people choose to." Arianne murmured, watching Adelaide. "I've met men who were birthed and laid to rest on the same ship." Arianne turned away to the water, so none of them would see the sheen of pain. She had watched one such man, a good man, do just that- die, at least. She hadn't been around for his birth. Hearing the captains acute observation about Ela's pet name for her, Arianne stiffened, but instead tossed her hair out of her face- the bangs already escaping messily, not as tamed as you would think a priestesses hair would be. Born to be a mariner? He's closer than he might suppose. "Forgive me for being adaptable." A bluff, but perhaps one that would work. Of course, all attempts at playing it cool vanished at his next words. "No." She shook her head. "Too dangerous. Did you not say you had other stops to make first? Couldn't you drop her off there?" Arianne pleaded with him through her gaze not to mention her destination by name. Their enemies must not have the princess, and her princess, her friend must not know she was all but walking into the enemies clutches. Thankfully, the conversation seemed to shift, at least for a moment, to Adelaide. "Mayhap not stupid, but you are definitely reckless, Ela." At his last statement, Arianne glanced at him, and put her hand on her hip- accidentally, and for teh first time, drawing notice to her gun. It wasn't as fancy or powerful as the gun the captain had been sporting, but it would pack a wallop. "I'm more capable than you might suppose, Cap'- Captain." Arianne barely refrained from blushing, for some reason, at almost calling him the shortened "Cap'n" Most sailors used. Why a blush? Should I not be scared of him discovering that the high priestess lady Arianne Kyoko is not who she seems? Scared, not embarrassed?

"Anne," He said with a sigh, "If I leave her at another port, she'll swing, or perhaps try to swim her way onto my boat again. And likely she'll get horrbily injured or die in the process. I don't want that kind of death hanging on my conscience." He said raising an eyebrow. He then looked to Adelaide, "And you, I have a feeling that you two will be impossible to seperate. So, you should know where your priestess is going." He then stepped back and look between Arianne and Adelaide, "Arianne, there will be no way to stop her. So you might as well tell her, where you plan to meet your undeniable end. It's not my job. I take you there, and I leave."

Arianne stubbornly lifted her chin. "I told you, I will not die there." And even if I do, it will have proved worth it. At his other words though, she glanced at her friend, then back to the captain. His words were true. Even if Arianne told Adelaide about her journey, and it's reason, she'd still insist on going. On dying with or for her, if it came to that. All because I saved her as a child... I will most likely lead her to her death. Turning to her friend, Arianne shot Adrian a stubborn, demanding look, unaware of the stark difference she made from the calm and blank priestess who had walked across the gangplank."Is there a place where I might speak to Ela in private?" Upon a pirate ship, that was likely to be in short supply, but she had to make sure her words reached Ela's ears alone. Forgive me, my goddess, but if fate has decreed that Ela shall accompany me on this path, I'll not have her walk it blind.

Adelaide grinned sheepishly when Adrian spoke the truth. Then she frowned when he uttered to words undeniable end. She looked at Arianne with the stern and serious look knighthood had taught her. "Arianne, what does he mean by 'undeniable end' exactly?" Her voice gave away her emotion as it trembled. She was blatantly upset but she refused to show it. She felt her body begin to shake because she was feeling a mix of annoyance, sadness and frustration, and she silently wished she were in her armor again. It usually hid this sign of her higher felt emotions.

Adrian raised an eyebrow to Adelaide, "I thought that it would be plainly clear. I mean that she is going to die there. And apparently so will you. It is a suicide mission." He then looked to Arianne, "And my cabin is private. Feel free to use it as you will. Inform the princess where you two will meet your end. Even I don't want to set foot in that land. And I have something on my side." He said reaching down to grip the short sword, "I do not see either of you returning from that hellish place."

Arianne bit the inside of her lip, suppressing a temper unbefitting to a priestess. "As I have stated, I will not die there." A glance at Adelaide made her worry clear though. She had been reassured by her goddess that, if she listened to her edicts, Arianne would return to her old life safe and sound. This little foray into the indecent would have no lasting effect. But it could cost her friend her life. "Thank you." When he touched his sword, Arianne was reminded that the goddess had blessed this man as well, for whatever reason. Perhaps to guide him to this point? At his last statement, she raised a level look at him. "Then it is good that I am looking through a different set of lenses." Touching Adelaide's shoulder lightly, Arianne headed down into the depths of the ship, finding the captains quarters again with little difficulty. They didn't vary that much between ships, and she had already been there one, to put on Adrian's clothes. Only the seriousness of the conversation at hand kept a blush from her face at the reminder she was wearing a mans clothes. Pulling her inside, and shutting the door tightly, Arianne turned to her best friend, the princess of a good land, and the holy knight of a goddess who had demanded she run away in the dead of night, and head to a land where being from across the sea meant instant death. "I am heading to Homenai at the behest of the Goddess Prisma. She spoke to me through the mirror, and told me that to tell anyone of my duty was to doom the world to chaos. You cannot come with me. It's too dangerous!"

Adelaide shook her head at Adrian. "As long as I'm around, my priestess shall not die." She recited it as if it was common knowledge - she had to include that as part of her initiation as a holy knight. She looked at him confused as he said he had something on his side. What's so special about that short sword? She was so focused on it that she missed the gaze from Arianne and sighed. I swore to the Goddess that I would always protect her. Goddess, please help me fulfill my duty to Arianne. Arianne's touch to her shoulder snapped her out of it and she followed her down to Adrian's private cabin. She took a quick glance around and her gaze fell on Arianne as she spoke. Homenai and she is telling me I can not go?! Adelaide stood tall, and looked angered. "If you are going to Homenai then I am going with you! Do you know how dangerous it is there! This is out of the question. I swore to the Goddess Prisma to protect you, and that's what I'm going to do, whether I'm a princess or not! I am not - no - will not allow you to go in there alone. End of story." She felt the tears threatening to fall and she blinked them away. Now was not the time to break down, and she stood her grounds waiting for her friend to tell her otherwise. Adelaide would not back down on this.
