Thanos considered Regret's words. He didn't like this rain at all and yet it didn't seem to be bothering her. But what if it was and she just wasn't showing it? He still couldn't figure out why he was so...the word eluded him and the thought slipped away for a moment. He stood there looking at him, his eyes glowing a dull red. Damn it, the one time he truly needed the rats advice they were inaccessible to him. He tried to think this one out for himself, it wasn't easy, especially with the loud ping ping ping of the rain hitting his exposed skull. Keep walking or find shelter. It should be an easy decision, but it wasn't. If it was just him...well he would do whatever the rats told him to do. But they weren't talking right now and it wasn't just him, he had Regret with him now. And for some reason he wanted Regret to be...happy? safe? by his side at all times?

He wasn't sure how much time had passed while he mulled over those options and those confusing thoughts. He had to do what was best for Regret, whatever that was and meant. Hell, he had been thinking so hard on this that during that whole time he had almost forgotten about the rain completely. "What do you want to do?" He finally asked her. He hated not being able to make a decision for them, but this was his first time experiencing rain, that he could remember at least, and he needed her to help him so that next time he could make the right decision for her.

Well...so much for letting him make the decision for them, Regret thought to herself absently as the stallion finally responded. IT had taken him quite a while to come up with that completely useless answer and Regret took that to mean that he truly had no idea which was the better option. Sighing slightly Regret thought it through herself - they had only just started out , if they returned to the trees to wait out the storm it was likely the entire day would be wasted while they sat around doing...what? Dieing of boredom? Stressing about staying still for too long?

Neither of those activities seemed like ones she wanted to partake in and so the mare came to her decision, for better or for worse they might as well just keep walking. It seemed like the rain wasn't bothering Thanos so much anymore anyways. "We might as well keep going, no point in wasting the whole day when we just started." If the storm got worse or the lightning got closer they could always seek shelter later - but at least this way they would get some miles under their hooves.

If he heard her sigh he certainly didn't acknowledge it or understand why she had made that sound. It would be, if he could remember, another thing to ask the rats later when she was sleeping and they were no longer hiding inside him due to the weather. At least she made the decision quickly. He would have to learn how to do this in the future. It would involve a lot of learning, like why she chose to continue on and what would it take for her to choose to find shelter. There were so many unknowns to him still in this life, but he could and would make the effort to learn and remember, for Regrets sake. He still wasn't sure where these thoughts were coming from but they didn't overly bother him. What bothered him was the feeling of the rats moving about inside him. He wanted to yell at him but knew it would be useless. Hopefully they would stop moving soon and leave him be.

With the decision to move made Thanos bobbed his head and then started off again in the direction that they had been heading. At least he was pretty sure it was the right direction. Now that he had time to adjust to the rain he didn't find it all that bad really. The dreariness of the day was really lifting his spirits. Gone was the bight colors of this land, now everything was dulled and sad looking. Oh yes, he liked it. Maybe it would rain every day...that would make him happy...for some reason.

Well at the very least Regret decided that the rain would keep the day from getting too warm, sure the seasons were on the verge of changing but the days could still get hot enough to be bothersome when you were trudging about in the sun all day long. Not that she had ever put much thought into that discomfort before - hot or cold she kept moving, it was the only thing that she could do.

Following the stallion let Regret use him as a bit of a wind block and that was a good enough reason to keep following him she reasoned. The clouds kept it from being to hot, the stallion kept it from being too windy, all in all, if she still cared about such things, she supposed it was likely to be as good of a traveling situation one could ask for on a rainy day. At least it wasn't snowing.

Snow was annoying, it was deep and troublesome and every year Regret found it harder and harder to wade through. She was not looking forward to winter this year...but perhaps she would still be with this stallion and he would break the trail for her. Regret snorted slightly to clear her mind and turn it away from such forward thinking, it was dangerous to think to far ahead, certainly it was dangerous to be planning. Better to stick to the moment, the present - it was all that she could ever be sure of. Silently she continued to follow him into the storm.

Thanos fell into the rhythm of walking once more. Occasionally he would look behind him to check on Regret but otherwise he traveled as he normally did, with little thought of the direction he was going in - though his pace was much slower than normal. The rats were still hiding inside of him, trying to keep out of the rain and for the first time in a long time Thanos was at peace...whatever peace was. There was no bickering between the rats, nor were they constantly talking to him. The only sounds he heard was the constant patter of rain along with Regret's shuffling steps, and of course there was the odd rumble of thunder. He didn't quite understand the thunder, but he did like the deep droning sound that it made as it rumbled off in the distance. This whole rain thing had turned out to be a blessing in disguise.

They walked for hours in that golden silence and Thanos had never felt happier in his life...probably because he couldn't remember the last time he had felt happiness. Part of him wanted to talk to Regret, but he didn't know what to say and he didn't want to interrupt the silence, besides so far in their travels together silence was a large part of it. They only spoke when it was necessary. And judging by how the light was beginning to wane they would need to discuss what to do for the night soon.

The rain was beginning to lighten as well and he felt a moment of sadness at it. Perhaps it would rain again tomorrow. Not sure of their next step Thanos stopped and looking about their surroundings. Regret would probably want to stop for the night and do that strange thing called sleeping, but if that was to happen they would need to find a place to stay. "Rest for the night?" He asked her as he continued to look for an ideal spot to stop at.

The day had passed in silence and Regret found that she was more then okay with that, but then she was used to traveling in silence because she was used to traveling alone. Traveling with another in that same silence might have been awkward with any other Soquili but with Thanos..Regret found that it just was. There was no need to fill the space between them with idle chit chat and pointless conversation about nothing, she was content simply to shuffle along beside him, putting miles beneath their hooves while the rain and thunder provided background noise.

When Thanos finally did speak it was almost startling and lifting her head slightly Regret took note that it was indeed starting to get dark. "I suppose we should." She finally answered, turning her bleary eyes towards their surroundings, unfortunately they did not seem to be in a good area, as far as she could see was nothing but open land. Perhaps she was missing something, her sight wasn't what it had once been after all "Do you see a likely place?" She asked after a few minutes and then because it was Thanos and the stallion probably wouldn't know what she meant she elaborated. "Somewhere sheltered."

Thanos' ears flicked as Regret spoke. Somewhere sheltered. He wasn't entirely sure what sheltered was, but looking around the area they were in he wasn't sure anyplace here was sheltered. Last night she had taken them into the trees, which he supposed was a sheltered area, but out here there were no trees, and if there were any off in the distance they would be too far away to reach before nightfall. Not that he had any issue seeing in the dark, but he wasn't sure if Regret wished to continue on just for the off chance of finding trees.

He continued to scan the area, looking for some place they could rest at. His persistence paid off and he spotted a rock outcropping in the distance. He wasn't sure how sheltered it would be, but it seemed to be the only options. "There." He said and vaguely pointed in the direction of the rocks. With nothing else to do Thanos began to lead the way, it would take some time to reach of the rock outcrop but they would certainly get there before it was too dark. He just hoped it was a satisfactory shelter...though he still wasn't sure why it mattered that he do these things for Regret.

The mare certainly had an effect on him but Thanos wasn't quite sure what that effect was or what it meant. With a shake of his head he led the way towards the rocks.

Rocks were not what Regret would have chosen to seek shelter beside if she had been given any other option - she had known far to many rock outcroppings which houses predators and other such problems during her time living in the mountains. But out here in the middle of the wide open plains? It didn't look like she was going to get to choose, it was either the rocks or nothing and as much as she worried over the rocks she loathed the thought of spending the day out in the open.

"I suppose they will have to do. There doesn't seem to be any other choices." she told the stallion, sighing slightly and following along behind him as he moved in that direction. Surely there wouldn't be any predators out this far in the middle of no where right? In any case at least she wouldn't have to face them alone if there were and while Thanos looked like he had some issues health wise he seemed more then capable of taking care of himself. Still... "Just be careful when we get close, bad things like to hide in rocks." She cautioned the stallion - just in case.

Thanos continued to lead the way towards the rock, though he kept looking around for something else to use as shelter as they got closer. Really there was nothing that he could see. There was another bunch of rocks further away but they didn't look big enough to use for shelter. He heard Regret make a comment about the rocks but it wasn't something he needed to reply to. It was the only option, it was those rocks or stay out in the open, and while neither of those options were great at least the rocks would provide some form of protection...whatever that meant. Protection from what he wasn't sure, but it seemed that each time they stopped it was important to be in a sheltered area. It was something he would need to ask the rats about later when they weren't hiding from the weather inside him. Annoying little beasts. When he truly needs them they are unavailable, but when he doesn't need them they won't shut up.

When Regret mentioned that bad things hid in rocks Thanos swung his head around to look back at her. Bad things? In the rocks? He wasn't sure what that meant. What kind of bad things could hide in the rocks? Better question was, what exactly were these so called bad things? Even so, he wanted to say something to ease her worry. "Things rarely stick around once I arrive." He told her. And it was true. Whether it was his looks, his decay stench or something else, usually living things went running when he was around. Except for Regret. He still hadn't figured out why she stayed with him, but he didn't mind one big. They were nearly at the rocks now, but Thanos slowed just a bit to allow him the time to look them over before they get all the way to them. They looked clear.

Approaching the rocks with Thanos Regret took some solace in his comments - she could see why most creature went running when he appeared, he was different and odd and she had learned long ago that most creatures were intolerant of the unknown or the different. Likely she herself would have run away had she met him when she was a younger more energetic mare. But that younger mare would have been wrong to do so as odd as that sounded when she looked at him.

upon drawing closer to the stones Regret paused, letting her bleary gaze eye the stones for a few moments and scenting the air, yes it seemed that Thanos was right and nothing terrible lurked in the stones shadow. At least the overhand might keep them dry for the night, although she doubted it would do much for the wind. "It will be fine for a night, It doesn't seem like anything has lived her for a while and its the best protection that seems to be within walking distance before it gets dark." Regret agreed, shuffling towards the rocks and seeking out the place most sheltered from the elements, there was easily enough room for the two of them and laying down she sighed slightly, absently taking a mouthful of grass and chewing it without really giving it much though.

Thanos nodded. It would indeed be fine for the night. They didn't need much, just a place that wasn't completely out in the open. As Regret settled into a good spot Thanos found a spot as well. He would not lay down, for he rarely sleep - at least he could never remember sleeping when morning came. So instead he found a spot where he could watch over Regret as she rested but also could see out of the rocks to spot anything that may try to come up upon them during the night. He doubted any would approach his scent, except maybe a few scavengers, but they tended to give up when they found that he could move and fight back.

Seeing Regret settled for the night Thanos let his body relax and his mind wander a bit. He would stand here all night to watch over Regret, but he also wanted to see if he could recover some memories in that time, and so he began to search his shattered brain for something to latch on to.
