The spirit hadn't meant to startle him by saying she knew what he was and felt a bit guilty by doing so. But he relaxed quickly enough, she kept her head still as Ikinya began to braid some of her hair, feeling the gentle tugging as she twisted the strands of silken hair together. It was soothing, something she had not felt in her many, many years of life, as odd as that seemed. One of her hands rested gently on the girl's back, as if to support her and keep her from falling if she somehow lost her balance. A silly thing, considering Mia was steady as a rock and the girl was a cat, but still. It was instinctive for her to protect, to guard those young and innocent. That was almost everyone to her, considering her age, but children especially so. There was something about the unicorn as well, but she couldn't put a finger on it. It wasn't quite the sense that she had to protect him, and saying that it felt like he needed her sounded arrogant, even for her. But there was something there and Mia had learned not to ignore her instincts. Besides, why would a spirit guide be here? Not for herself, surely, they never were. They always acted to help others, no matter what they did. Her ear twitched again, just a bit, as he began to talk to her again. He still hadn't introduced himself, she thought with a faint smile to herself.

It was easy to return his smile and knew he was grateful for handling the issue so easily. His answer made it clear what he wanted and her gaze softened when he expressed his worry about someone taking him away from his child. That was the fear of all parents and she stroked Ikinya's hair gently while he confided in her. "I would not let anyone hurt your daughter," Mia said softly, a quiet promise in her words. "And I'm sure this sounds presumptuous of me, but I would not let anyone hurt you, either, or take you from your home," the spirit added softly. She wasn't sure if he would take offense or not, but she meant the words sincerely. The last thing Euthymia would do would be to stand by and let a father be taken from his child, or let a unicorn be stolen away. There were so few left, it would be a sin, a black mark against her soul, if she did nothing to help him. "It would be nice to know your name, though," she added with a teasing smile, looking down at Ikinya's happy squeal when she finished with the braid. "That's so pretty, Ikinya! Thank you!" she said cheerfully, pulling the braid out to look at it. If the collar wasn't on, she could have twisted it up in her hair and bloomed a flower to keep it in place. As it was, she simply let it fall back into her hair and patted the little girl's hair with a smile.

Turning her attention back to the unicorn, Mia cocked her head a bit, her tail flicking up onto her lap to entertain Ikinya. The girl squealed a bit happily and practically pounced on it, though she didn't pull or tug. She simply was playing with it, inspecting it and the colors. It was rather amusing to Euthymia, who smiled down at the girl before looking back over to the tall male. "Does this mean I am going with you, then?" she asked expectantly. It seemed the obvious result of their conversation and honestly, she wanted to. Partly because Ikinya was here and clearly she was meant to go with them. Partly because she just wanted to leave - and Mia was more than grateful that he hadn't asked how she had ended up in this hotel of slaves. And partly because her own instincts told her to go with them. There would be no expectations between her and he - they knew where they now stood, although she noticed he had said what he wanted, not what he needed. Did he not know what he needed? Well, that made two of them, she supposed. And how funny that the little spirit guide sitting on her lap, playing with her tail and humming a cheerful little tune to herself, would be the one to know what they both truly needed. The thought made the ancient spirit smile a bit more as some of the weariness left her face. Perhaps it wasn't time for her to leave the world and fade into the seasons again.

His eyes, spectacles of Sagittarius dusts. Deep rich plums and ultra violets swirling, mixing like the crimson wine she could taste on her pout. Andara was careful not to find the daemon's own eyes, but like all temptation, eventually you succumb to the sin. What a delicate balance light and dark hangs by, such weak threads weaved together and fates intertwine. Like a master of puppets, hands moved, a silent language easily discernible to one of her age and wisdom. "Andara," his name sliding from her devilicious tongue. A smooth, sultry sound lazily warming against the young man's face. His cheeks igniting and he turned away, perhaps fearful or shy, but nonetheless painted in a dusty rose. "I have bought you. You will never return to the Hotel des Esclaves. Gather up what you wish to take, beloved, or you will never see them again. If you have nothing, do not worry, I will give you everything you want." Except complete freedom. Az gathered up his large hands, hers were much smaller in comparison, but still tender as they cupped. She pulled him from his position of honoring, "Come." Nature, nurture, heaven and home. Sum of all, and by them, driven. Both of them were alien here.

The doorseal across from them crackled as it was opened. An attendant emerged, standing at action. He was a short man with a gourd-like body which dwindled into spindly legs whose ugliness was only accented by the stripes running down his uniform. She chose to ignore the mundane human, instead A leaned down. Feral lips stroke Andara's earlobe, it tasted of salt. Her words were nothing more than a whisper, a secrecy exchanged only by the two of them. "Do not fear. Come." Four words, basic and easily translated to one he could understand. The fiend's nostrils filled with scents of a beach. White sands, and sea foam. The sparse seashells scattered a long the shore line. A cool mist apon young flesh as toes curled the tiny micros of glass. She could see it all with just one whiff. It had been some time since he had been in the cool waves, all they gave him to bathe in was purified spring water. Even she knew it would never do.

Az pried herself from his jet fringe, smiling inches from his blushing face. She made them both rise until her hands freed his. She would move toward the door, past the grotesque bell boy awaiting their departure. The thin silk shifted, trailing behind to produce a path directly to the wearer. Some will be drawn to violence and others will swarm like bees.

A shiver ran down the ashray's spine at the way his simple name rolled off of her tongue. He did not deserve to be in the presence of someone this highly ranked, of someone who held such easy perfection. Andara felt.... humbled. But he couldn't help snapping his head back to stare wide-eyed at Az when she said that he would never return to this wretched place. Though he tried to push it back, his face lit up at the news. He was free from the whitewash walls and the silent water, from the burning light room and the cruelty of the workers. He covered his mouth, trying to hide his smile. He was one step closer. The boy could feel her touch releasing him from his sign of reverence. He shivered again.

Everything about this woman drew Andara in. She was not like the flesh biscuit that had come to the door in an oddly striped suit. Andara though that if the attendant was trying to imitate the simple beauty of a pajama fish, he was doing an extremely poor job. His thoughts were pulled away from his comparisons when Az leaned forward and whispered a few words in his ear. He closed his eyes a moment, unable to wipe the smile from his face, and reveled in the fact that she was willing to be close to someone as lowly as himself. He could feel warmth radiating from her, her scent of something foreign he that had only touched his nose once before. Andara had been told it was called smoke, and fire. But this was different. It was more.... pure, in a sense. Unmarred.

He allowed her to guide him to his clumsy feet. He had nothing here of importance. Just what he wore. With an obedience only one desperate to live another life, any life, could possess, he followed behind the daemon. He was careful to keep from stepping on the silk that trailed from her. The sight of it reminded Andara of high tides, waves crashing against hanging cliffs on the blackest of nights. Those had been some of his favorite things in the sea. He was, if it was possible, even more smitten with Az than before. Everything about the pale woman in the midnight clothing reminded him of one aspect or another of his home in Davy Jones' Locker. The only foreign things were her warmth and scent, and he would welcome those with open arms so long as the rest of her was the same.

The few brief moments between telling Mia what his intentions were for her, and her answer was a pretty nervous waiting period for the man. What would she say? What would she think? The smile that easily formed on her face made him settle, and the tender strokes of his daughter's hair really began to reassure the male since why would she treat the child so gently if she didn't like his proposition? Then there it was, her answer. Colour seemed to return to the unicorns face and he sat up a little more, his body language positive and receiving. Then came the rest of her little promise that wasn't a promise, and Dareios was quite sure his cheeks became slightly pink. No-one had ever said they'd protect him too. Lips slightly parted in surprise, he just didn't know what to say. This was... More than he could ever ask for, or even wish for. This spirit was definitely the one he wanted to take home and give a chance at a real life once again. He'd take that collar off the moment they were travelling home, he'd make sure she wasn't injured and would cook her up a lovely welcoming meal. She was not going to be a slave, not anymore. She would be just a person living in his house, a person that Ikinya had chosen, had been guided to. A blush really did jump to Dareios' face when she mentioned he had yet to introduce himself. How rude! And how could he have forgotten to tell her his name! Her smile hinted that she was just teasing him for it, but it did make him feel pretty shocking. It just wasn't gentlemanly to utterly forget to tell someone your name. Ikinya was a welcome distraction with her sudden squeal and proud little exclamation, and it gave Dareios a moment to calm down.

Once Ikinya was settled and quiet once again - the same squeal had sounded upon the tail being flicked up onto Mia's lap - he exhaled slowly. "My name is Dareios Kardunn. I'm so sorry for not telling you before, I'm too used to people already knowing my name when they come to my sessions." Shrugging in an embarrassed way he nervously chuckled. Eyebrows raising when Euthymia blatantly asked if she was going with them, Dareios looked to Ikinya who was running her fingers through the woman's tail, enthralled by the colours that melted together seamlessly. "I don't think the decision is in my hands anymore." He chuckled, finally seeming more upbeat and relaxed now everything was out in the open. "I think the decision was made the moment you let her braid your hair. That's how she bonds with anyone; she braids their hair." Reaching behind his head, a small, tightly wound braid was pulled from the underneath of his hair. "This was just on the ride here. On a good day I'll end up with at least ten braids." Giving another carefree chuckle, Dareios was convinced. Mia was perfect. She could handle Ikinya, and clearly had a wiseness about her that may actually come in handy.

"Our home is in the country, and is surrounded by trees. We have a large flower and vegetable garden you might feel at home in. It's probably best you spend as much time outside with Ikinya during certain times of the day. I... I am a therapist, and I do my work from home. I counsel women and children who have been abused. I have a personal reason for this, and I generally have a few sessions a day. There will always be a time table up in the kitchen, so it won't be hard to figure out when I have to work. So.. Please don't fret if I ever seem pale and withdrawn, I'll be alright after a cup of tea." Trying to seem upbeat about the fact that some of the stories he heard affected him, it would be impossible for Dareios to ever become immune to what he listened to. Sure he had finally learned to not let it affect his judgement as a therapist, but it still didn't mean he couldn't feel for the women and children that came in. Looking around the room, feeling a bit tense, he had honestly thought it would have been harder than this to find someone that could handle Ikinya. "Is there... Do you have any.. Um, personal belongings in this room? We have to stop in the city on the way home, so we can always buy things if you need them... Or shop online, we get deliveries where we are. I-It's up to you." Sweeping his hair back behind him, he smiled at Mia nervously. This was always the part that killed him when he was still like her; the apprehension, the final confirmation that you were, in fact, leaving with the person talking to you. "So yes, Lady Mia. I would.. I would like you to come live with us." Smiling, not feeling odd for being so polite or calling her 'Lady', Ikinya finally looked up at the two, fingers still in the delicately soft tail. "Well of course she's coming with us pa. I could have told you that, you didn't need to say it." She didn't sound snobby or like she was trying to be a little smarty-pants, Ikinya just sounded like she was stating a fact that was almost too obvious, and to the girl, it was that obvious. She had known Euthymia was coming with them from the moment she stepped foot in the room, no-one had just thought to ask her. Why else would she have lead them here? The grin on her face almost said that as clear as her words.

Down the stairs they would descend, the pajama fish leading. She'd stop, motioning for Andara to be at her side, there was no reason for him to tread so far behind. Plus, if his legs deemed weak, he wouldn't fall to his death due to helping hands.

Once the pair reached the lobby, Az signaled to the servant to wait. and he would listen or face something fearsome. Worse than the nightmare terrors that seeped into waking dreams. She smiled up to her new jewel, taking up his hand again as they were to enter the rotating doors, and exit the hotel. It was only mere seconds, and both of them stood outside. Az gasped, as if drawing breath for the first time. The magical seals were cast off, she was sure he'd feel it also! The night was alive! Streetlamps were buzzing orange orbs, flicking at a passing tendency. Her carriage awaited him, the door opened without any aid. Inside was decorated with crown molding, filigree, and Victorian posh comforts. Az would continue to guide him to it, careful that he did not trip on the small step that would lift him in. While he chose his seating, she waited until he rested there. "I will be right back. I ask you to stay here until I return. I have a dragon," hands moved to motion wings, "to retrieve and then we will be off. To home." Again she gave him a reassuring smile before shutting the door. If he decided to look out the small port window, he'd see her turn, the train of her robe bellowing in the stormy winds. Like a crashing black wave, it would rise up and then fall, repeating until the doors would engulf the jet silk.

Upon reenterance she again felt the prickle of anti-magic runes that this place had set up. Most likely as a precaution to the forces it tried to keep at bay. A nodded to the chubby man, he would guide her to a different direction, a different quarter of the flesh fair. She knew of elves, the limber forest creatures but this one had tainted skin. It was of a smoldered smoke colour, and his hair a silvery ash. The red-headed woman backed away from the desk as she watched Az move across the lobby floor. She had an eerie feeling whenever the daemon came near. Perhaps for the best, fear was sometimes too enticing to not gobble up.

Shyly, Andara caught up and walked alongside his master. He couldn't believe he got such an honor bestowed upon him. As they stepped outside, the ashray heard Az gasp. It sounded like relief. His eyebrows furrowed and he stepped out beside her. What is so-- His thought was interrupted by a gasp of his own. He felt like a great weight had been lifted off of him. He realized that there were seals around the place, keeping the slaves in.

The boy stared around with wide eyes. It was beautiful out here! The lights, the clear sky, the moon and stars.... It was beautiful. But all that paled once his eyes settled on the carriage. It was elegant and shone in the glittering city lights. He followed Az's lead, slowly climbing into the carriage and curling up in a corner seat. Andara nodded, mimicking the wing sign with his own hands to confirm that yes, he understood. As she closed the door, he looked out the window of the carriage and let his mind wander.

He was swimming in an unfamiliar body of water. It wasn't salty, but it still spoke, unlike the bathtub he had been confined to. Dully colored fish swam around him. His mind sluggishly made the connection. This was called a river. He drifted with the current, admiring the way the roots of surrounding trees twisted in the water. He ran his fingers along the rough bark and swam on. Slowly, the roots disappeared and the fish were gone moments later. Andara took another breath of water and coughed, gasping. That only made it worse. The water was dark around him, he couldn't see. Where was up, where was down? He thrashed in the clouded liquid. He caught sight of a few rays breaking weakly through the murk and swam toward them. The ashray broke the surface and took in a deep breath of air. The current dragged him along, trying to pull him back under. He fought hard, gasping, but the air burned in his lungs. His back twisted in agony as bright sunlight hit his skin and he screamed, ducking back under the water. Suddenly, the water was gone and he was writhing on the dry, cracked ground. Exhausted, he finally went still, whimpering pitifully as the sun ripped the moisture from his thin body. The world spun around him.

Andara sat up quickly in the carriage, panting and clutching at his chest. His clothing, thankfully, was still damp. He still had his water. It was just a dream. Just a dream. Az would never allow that to happen to him. She had promised salty water and happiness. It was only a dream.

Pleased that he didn't take offense to her promise to keep him safe as well, Euthymia watched his body language change curiously. She was horrid at reading and interpreting it, never being around humans long enough to really understand it. But his was easy enough for her to understand, especially as she was using senses other than sight to figure out his moods, even as she kept half-an- eye on the spirit guide on her lap. she didn't mind the little one playing with her tail at all, as long as she was gentle. Her tail and ears were quite sensitive, more than even having her hair pulled, but the little girl seemed to understand that perfectly and was being more gentle than anyone else had been with her. Relaxed in the chair, Mia smiled when he finally introduced himself. Dareios - that was Greek. The meaning was lost to her, but she understood the origin well enough. So she was correct, he was from where Alexander had been. Perhaps that was a sign. At least, enough of one for her, besides everything else that had happened so far. Listening to him intently, she cocked an ear curiously when he laughed, her smile widening. He had a pleasant laugh and she wondered if he was as happy as he should be. There was something lingering there, under the surface of the unicorn, like a still pool that promised dark depths. Perhaps one day she would be able to help him. But today was not that day, she knew.

When he continued, telling her more about his home, Mia nodded in understanding. She was already looking forward to being away from the city and humans like this. Her ear twitched again, hearing the word therapist - what was that? It sounded important and as he continued, she was able to infer from his explanation and her own experiences that perhaps it was someone who helped people in need. That seemed a fitting thing for a unicorn to do and she was pleased to know he was a caring sort of person. Well, at least he was honest about the fact he may not be at his best some times, that was hard for people to admit. At his question, she shook her head. Before she could answer he continued, confirming that yes, she was go to with him. That was a relief to hear and she let out a small sigh, though that quickly turned into a warm laugh as Ikinya piped up in such a tone. Seeing the look on her face, Mia laughed again and hugged the girl, her tail twitching happily. "You are a darling little kitty cat, dear one," she told her happily, before looking over her head at Dareios. "No, I do not have anything of personal value in this room. But I would much rather go to your home and...what is online?" the spirit asked in confusion. She understood the bit about buying things in the city, she'd accompanied masters there to be shown off. But she didn't understand technology at all.

It didn't bother her at all, though, and there was no sadness, no sense of longing in her voice when she said she had nothing. The spirit had grown in nature, of course, and had only recently been exposed to modern material things. She had marveled at the Roman and Greek's architecture and marvels, their plumbing and tiling and art, but since those golden days, there was nothing that really held her interest. Mia was not a materialistic creature in the least, happy with just...being happy. Getting to her feet, she scooped Ikinya up in her arms, not willing to let the girl go just yet. She craved touch and affection and the girl was braiding her tail anyway. "And please just call me Mia, or Euthymia. Should we get going, then? I understand you have to pay for me before I am allowed to leave with you," Euthymia said gently, showing that she understood how such things worked and hardly bore him any ill will for following the rules. If it meant she could leave with them, there were many things she would be willing to do.

Indent Ceri was graced with the tired man's gaze for only a moment before he turned back to the window. Irritation sprung up, not at the dismissive man, but at her own appearance. It was true her wardrobe and general physical state had suffered. But, beitsim, did she look that weak?

Indent Probably. The ginger was in the middle of grimacing when words, smooth and strange, answered her greeting remark. At least...she thought they were. Broken understanding mocked her competence. She felt as if she were five again, trying to grasp at the French phrases floating among the Italian and English. What, you, spirit...fire, sun, sky, they were all she could pull out of the stream. She tried to piece it together. What 'are' you? Is that what was asking? Spirit fire?

Indent Ceri's eyes widened as her hand came up to touch her own hair. Understanding clicked into place. Oh. The Huang tribe was located in the depths of Asia, he'd probably never seen a ginger before, he must have assumed she wasn't human. She would have corrected him, but the pale-eyed man kept going, not appearing to talk to her any more than he was talking to the window.

Indent Word after foreign word beat at her ears like a muddy river, too fast and unclear to be seen through. That was until his last sentence. That she understood. That was one of the first string of words any captured Huang find the balls to repeat over and over.

Indent Deep blue eyes darkened at his dismissal of her entire species and culture. "/ You the inferior beings! /." She shot back with a sneer, too caught up in her ire to care that she was surely using the grammar of a child. So what if the human race sucked balls most days? As if his culture was perfect? Arrogant son of a b***h.

Indent She crossed her arms, glaring at him with discontent. Was this man really her only ticket to life? A dark thought pricked at her heart that hollowed her of her anger. If my luck suddenly turned good it be too funny. Ceri closed her eyes for only a moment to let the ache in her chest subside. When ebbed she was open-eyed and grinning in a manner that held no humor. She answered his first question. "/ I human /" Let him suck on those sour eggs.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxNothing is good enough.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxSangki

█████

INDENT The former leader of the Huang assumed she would choose one of two options: get bored/frustrated/annoyed and leave or blather on in her language like an idiot. He preferred if she would choose option one. But of course that female-form thing decided to make more sounds! More annoying sounds, so similar to... No. That was too similar. It was choppy and rough but without a doubt that was a very common - albeit very butchered - phrase uttered among the Huang. Sangki looked over with genuine interest and surprise. Life seemed to be breathed into him if only for the moment he realized she was actually speaking. The moment he realized she was attempting to insult him in his own language, surprise turned into amusement. A wicked smirk graced his features that communicated with unmistakable clarity how he had accepted her challenge to his superiority. She was still a lesser being - without a doubt - but she was at least one that was willing to prove just how low she really was. Sangki could appreciate that because it gave him an opportunity to assert himself as the top of the pyramid. Really, who didn't like that?

    INDENT I human.

INDENT Sangki's obsession with proving himself melted away into placidity - which was markedly different than the boredom, anxiety, and restlessness of earlier. He did not rise from his position on the floor. There was no need to. Instead he shifted slightly, one arm raising to prop upon the window sill and looked her up and down again. So humans could look like that, too, huh? They were more diverse than he thought. Of course, not as diverse as his people, but there was some diversity nonetheless

INDENT "/How amusing... so the humans have begun to learn our language. Emulating the superior race, are you? Tell me: why are you here?/" He dare not ask why he was there and so did the next best thing. Sangki considered dumbing down his use of words but then decided against it. If she wanted to communicate with him then it was up to her to learn his language, not the other way around. He didn't give two damns if he could communicate with her or not. Even if he did know a few human words he wouldn't dare use them for fear of sounding as foolish as she did. Though he wasn't about to dumb down for her, Sangki decided to at least throw her a proverbial bone and added a rephrased question, "/What do you want?/"

Again, there was nervous tension in Dareios' stomach as he waited for Mia's reaction to Ikinya's little statement, but the warm laugh that came from Mia relaxed him just like her smile had before. The spirit had clearly formed a bond with his own little spirit, and it showed with Ikinya gently braiding and playing with Mia's luxurious tail hair. Plus the warm hug just spoke volumes for the man. His little daughter had lead him straight to the woman that would keep their family safe. Nodding in understanding as the woman explained she had nothing, Dareios felt another pang of worry; he'd have to buy her something for the night. He was pretty sure that one of his flannel bed shirts would suffice, but that was just a little too intimate for the man at the moment. Grinning in a slightly embarrassed way at being asked what online was, Ikinya pipped up without hesitation. "It has everything on it. We'll show you when we get home! Pa will be happy to show you!" It was the best example of "children say the darndest things" that could ever happen, and shyly, Dareios rubbed his neck. He wasn't sure how he'd go about showing Euthymia how to use the internet, but she was wise, so hopefully she'd pick it up easily. Ikinya was pretty handy with it though, often jumping online to buy herself clothing with his permission, doing their grocery shopping and setting delivery days, and even finding websites that offered up "brain training" games. The girl was a wise one, and he was blessed to have her in his life.

Standing up as Mia did, Dareios allowed an almost loving smile to pass his features as the autumn spirit kept a hold of his daughter. There was something about the way that the woman held the child that didn't cause Dareios to fret; she seemed very unwilling to let the child leave her for the moment, and the unicorn wondered if there was a reason behind this. Not one to ask such a personal question, he simply looked at her when she said he didn't need to use 'lady' to address her. Chuckling in his little embarrassed way, he rubbed the side of his neck, and nodded, understanding that he didn't really need to be formal with her. Hearing that she was quite ready to leave, and showing she understood how the system worked, he came very close to breathing a sigh of relief. "Yes, let's head off. I have an appointment later in the day, and I'd really like to make sure you're settled before I have to disappear for an hour or more." A pleasant look replaced the mildly nervous one that had stuck on the Greek man's face, a look that suited him better. He really was more accustomed to being cheerful than shy and nervous, even with his skittish equestrian nature. Opening the door and allowing the ladies to go through first, the guard standing nearby looked surprised. This man hadn't asked to talk to the woman, his kid had just barged in, and now he was leaving with her. Escorting them back down the levels and to the entrance floor, a bellboy took over the escorting duties and took the trio to the front desk.

A new girl was there now, a very pretty little Indian girl, and she seemed just as surprised as the guard that Dareios had picked a slave he hadn't asked to see. "Would you like to review her information, sir?" The woman asked with a keen gaze, clearly amused by the fact someone had picked a slave all on their own. Shaking his head, the man looked to Mia, then back to the woman and simply smiled. "Euthymia is exactly the woman I was looking for." Was all he said as he filled out the final bit of paperwork, paid for the spirit and was bode a fond farewell by the front desk lady. Completely forgetting he needed to get some items for Mia for the night - just a simple overnight bag and maybe a set of sleepwear - he lead the girls straight out the Hotel without a glance at the tax-free shops that were housed on the ground floor. They held all the basics one might need before taking home a slave they hadn't prepared for, and were all at a cheaper price than shops due to their tax-free status. Outside once again, Dareios shook his head slightly, snorting gently like a pleased horse. The man felt better now he was out the slave shop, and the tight feeling in his chest was disappearing slowly. He'd never have to step foot into that place again, especially since Mia reassured him she'd take care of Ikinya and himself, keeping them both safe and making sure they'd stay together.

Looking around for a moment, the unicorn spied a few sleek looking black limousines that would take them wherever they wanted to go. Gesturing towards them, the man lead the way and held the door open for Euthymia and Ikinya to get in first, before following after them. He'd have prefered a cab, but since it didn't look like they were allowed into the hotel parking lot - or anywhere near the hotel that wasn't directly against the street - it would have to do. Plus Ikinya hadn't been in a limo before. Setting down, happy with the leg room in the long black vehicle, Dareios politely asked to take them into the City to get to the train station. They wouldn't stop long, just get to the station, get on the train and head home. Vehicle pulling away, excitement was beginning to overtake any feelings of worry and doubt; Dareios was actually excited to show the autumn spirit around his home. "Mia? Is there anything you'd like to talk about? Like, what you like and what you don't?" Crossing his legs again in a profession manner, the rest of his body seemed relaxed and quite attentive, ready to hear what the woman had to say. "Yes! I want to hear what you like. I like cuddly toys and apple pie and roast chicken and playing outside. What do you like Mia? Where did you come from? How old are you?" The questions were typical of a curious child, but the last two made Dareios feel a little on edge. "Ikinya, they're... They're a little too personal sweetie. Mia can tell us as much or as little as she wants, okay?" Getting a confused look before a nod, a smile and a happy 'mew' sound, the African girl sat and waited for her answers, while Dareios pondered on something; getting the courage to get close enough to Mia to remove her slave collar.

Everything was nice and dark, pleasing to the eye for the older male, yellow eyes glancing about as they would take in the shapes of furniture, the dim glow from behind the curtains offered little light to him. The one thing they generally did for him was keeping the blinds closed for him, the harsh light that most enjoyed tended to weaken him terribly, a suitable punishment for him was to have luxury and then for it to be taken away so he could suffer. It generally worked, but at the same time it didn't improve his behavior no matter how severe the punishment was it only generally made him that much harder to put up with. It was generally easier to spoil him to keep him from being bad, a long hard lesson that took years for the many employees to learn after awhile. Though he didn't get all the control he liked, he had to be put in his place at times, something he wasn't bothered by. A piercing gaze raked across the pages of a book as he would sit in the large bed looking as calm as can be. His expression unreadable, eyes showing nothing but their natural disdain, he would yawn once and stretch on occasion keeping his boring life fairly interesting, kind of. Tilting his head as he would turn the page of the book he would catch faint footsteps, eyes glancing over to the door as he would listen for the mechanical whirr of the blinds opening. They always weakened him when they entered the room to tend to him, he would eye the door as he soon heard the sound of the blinds starting to move.

Light filtered in to the bright white room and he would easily slither out of bed landing on the side that faced away from the intrusive light, his large body hunching over as he would growl. The door would slide open after a few minutes, they must have been checking to see if he was attempting an escape again. That wasn't all too surprising, he was fairly dangerous. The maid quickly stepped in not making eye contact with him, they were ordered to do that, so that he wouldn't be able to feed off the stronger emotion of embarrassment or fear. Anxiety was felt though it was weak, the maid quickly ran out leaving a tray of food behind, he snickered as he would watch her leave. Scratching absently at his chain before he would start scratching at his well trimmed beard, nails working into the soft skin before he would relax again. The sound of whirring would echo in his ears again and soon the light would be gone, he would stand and easily step over to his food, picking at it absently as he ate the tasteless meal. It wasn't great in his opinion, he had made and eaten so much better, the cooks here wouldn't be able to compare. No expression on his face as he ate fairly fast trying to quickly eat to get all of this low quality food out of his mouth.

When he managed to finish he would cough a bit as if he was choking, "Terrible taste...." he'd mumble, a mixture of Italian and a British accent, it was unnatural yet intriguing, something he maintained from his own world. Soft, thick and surly, in a way he was the only grown man around here as far as he knew, most of the slaves here were fairly young, or looked it. Retaining youth seemed like more of a curse, he preferred his older look t the young'uns, as compared to his temperament, he was one of the hardest. He may have not had black when he first came hre but he was getting there fairly slowly, he didn't mind getting to black either, it would be a new high for him. An achievement rather than a blemish. Moving slowly back over to the bed he would wipe absently at his lips, no crumbs or anything left behind, just a simple gesture to try and get the taste off his mouth in case he decided that he was dehydrated later. Relaxing on the bed he would put his arms back behind his head and cross his legs, closing his eyes as he would attempt to get a nap. Not like he was often the interest of most masters, they all wanted the happy, cute and sweet slaves. Not to mention the younger girls. So there was no need for him to pay too much attention to anything for the time being.

XXXThis was a big step for the Council to take, venturing out into the human world just to try and force their ward to stay in one damned place. Luckily enough, thanks to the kinds of creatures the Councilmen were, travel was made easy. Would their ward know of what their doing? No, not until the last minute. She'd probably try something stupid like the last time they tried to physically keep her from leaving; in hindsight trying to attack a homing device to a creature that could shift forms was a bit of a bad move.

XXXA lone man almost seemed to materialise at the front of the Hotel within the shade of its eaves. Aware of the wards that were around the building to keep it's slaves under control, the man didn't feel the need to disrupt the peace, and simply walked inside like all other visitors. The hooded man in question was simply known as Beta, and was the Council's 2IC - second in charge. There were bonuses to this role, but there were also negatives; he had to do all the major running around for The Alpha as well as being the one to deal with their troublesome ward. A rather large negative, but it was a small price to pay.

XXXAs others before him, the mysterious man in the plain faced mask walked up to the front desk. Greeted politely by one of the fresh-faced young ladies behind the counter, the man has an odd request - all male slaves who were wearing a chain or leather collar, and who had a star... And oddly enough a Jester's Hat. There was a reason behind the odd request of a charm, and that was because of the way their ward acted. They needed someone to keep up with her, well, special kind of personality. There wasn't many to choose from, so following the bellboy to the elevators, Beta was shown straight to the wing with the Rare slaves located in it.

XXXA couple of uneventful hours later, Beta was beginning to get frustrated. This place was meant to have slaves for all walks of life, for all kinds of needs, desires and in some cases, sexual wants. So why the Hell was it so hard to find one man who liked to joke around and wasn't some skinny push-over that had more beauty than brains?

XXXBeing lead to a door that held the promise of a Centurion, Beta had to admit he was curious. He knew Centurions to be might warriors of battle, a professional officer of Roman armies. So what was this guy? As far as Beta knew, these types of soldiers didn't exist anymore, not in this day and age. Expecting something interesting, the man nodded to the guard to open the door, the mysterious man's hands hidden inside the long black velvet cloak.

XXXThe man inside the room was tall, and well built - it was obvious with the way the man was sprawled out on his bed. He didn't look like those "pretty-boys" from the other rooms, he actually looked like a man. Their ward needed a man, not a man-boy. Beta was tall in his own right, just scraping over 6' 8", so at least he felt better being around another equally tall male. Height would be an advantage in their somewhat weird situation. "You, Centurion." A voice that sounded like it came from somewhere unhuman - light, masculine but almost ghost-like - wafted over to the man, the masked creature moving to stand by the foot of the bed. "What kind of being are you? You bare the marks of a rarity, but you look almost too human. Tell me, would you be able to keep a particularly flighty and rebellious being from leaving confinement?" If he was to mention that the flighty being was a female, and her rebellious nature included drinking, getting stoned and generally trying to cause mayhem, then there might have been complications. It was best to find out what the male was like without just saying "hey, we need you to stop our b***h of a Goddess from ever leaving Earth".

Eyes closed as he would relax against the bed, feeling nice and cushy for once, he would slowly start to sleep, drifting off slowly into the abyss of sleep that he so enjoyed. He was unaware of anything for the moment, his mind drifting off into sleep fairly slowly, he would find himself standing among masters, a look of pure disgust on his face as he would turn away from them. Yawning and stretching as he would slowly take hold of his dream forming a plush red chair and a table with a bottle of wine and glass on it. Taking a seat he would merely stare out into the bleak darkness and enjoy his drink, he didn't feel like making up anything stupid either so he just merely relaxed and acted like he was mindless. Slowly though something would draw his attention, the closing of doors, specific ones. Other chain's like him, this was rare in itself considering people generally didn't want chains for slaves, dream world slowly evaporating as he would hear the mechanical whirr of the curtains opening up, bathing him in light once again. He wouldn't budge as an annoyed grunt would escape him, eyes glancing up to glare at the door of whatever idiot dared to disturb him at the moment. Slowly a tall dark figure entered the room and immediately spoke two words, "Congratulations. You can read." he state in a snide tone slowly turning to stand up stretching easily as he felt his body weaken. Rubbing his own shoulders lightly he would ignore the strange allure to the man's voice, he had been around an Incubus before, and that wasn't exactly the funnest time, he had to adjust to every seductive technique known to man and even then he had issues. So this voice didn't bug him as much as some others would be bothered by.

Gold eyes sharpened much like a hawks, a second black ring around his pupil became fairly clear as he observed his possible new master, as if. This b*****d wouldn't be able to handle him, no matter how ugly he looked. Picking at his ear as he would look at the creature, who had started to bombard him with questions, he would stare at him and a smirk splayed across his features after a moment, "Take this collar off and find out. I don't have any reason to answer to a bug like you." he'd state with a yawn, his voice deep and thick, the look of boredom on his features lacked the intimidation this man's look seemed to demand, "Flighty and rebellious? Depends on whether it's easy to kill or not. Children can be fairly problematic since I know no mercy for you things." he'd state speaking of the human race as something lower then bugs, "If it's anything like you, I'd gladly snap it in half like a twig." he'd state crossing his arms over his chest and staring the male down and glaring. His own body becoming somewhat bigger in a way, he was throwing on the intimidation factor he held from his looks and size alone, whether the man was intimidated or not depended on what he has been through. The only thing that became clear with the Centurion of darkness was that he didn't know how to play nice much at all.

Leonis growled to himself as he flopped back onto the bed. This place was irritating, infuriating and incredibly boring. The fallen star couldn’t believe that he had been stuck in here for a year now! Well it wasn’t like he had been stuck in this particular room this whole time. There had been the few ‘masters’ who had thought that they could control him, or break him, or whatever they tried to do with difficult slaves. Idiots really; Idiots who had been way over their head. Like they could control him! Ha! As if he was ever going to let anyone control him. Ever. Sure he may be stuck on this dumpy little planet, but as far as Leonis was concerned, he was still a god, and gods deserved respect, not this crap! Obviously whoever was in charge of this place didn’t agree with him.

Groaning to himself, Leonis pushed himself up off the bed and stalked over to the attached bathroom. It was late afternoon, but not quite the night yet, so his appearance was currently that of someone in their early 20s. Gritting his teeth, he pulled his long black hair out of its braid and grabbed a brush off the counter. He was bored out of his skull at this point, and he wished that he could use his powers, at least to some level, but unfortunately, that wasn’t allowed in this place either. He had learned rather quickly that not very much was. Any ‘weapons’ that he owned had been confiscated – including the wand he had stolen off his dark magician ‘friend.’ He knew by now that it would be given to whoever bought him next, and he would have to take it off of them – by force if necessary - if they didn’t provide it to him when he demanded. Quite frankly, he couldn’t understand why it had been taken from him in the first place. It wasn’t like he could use the object. It was just a small wand laced with black magic. He couldn’t use the magic in it, but it was strangely comforting to the fallen star. However, it was a weapon, so it had been confiscated.

In Leonis’s opinion, the policy was foolish. A crafty (and/or desperate) person could easily make a weapon out of almost anything on hand. Confiscating obvious weapons from ‘dangerous’ merchandise like himself only lulled potential buyers into a false sense of security. And while Leonis didn’t quite mind that fact, the fact still stood that because of the rule, he couldn’t have his wand. If was an iffy situation.

He wished he had something to occupy his time with, but he hadn’t been provided with paints, or an easel, or anything really. The room was very standard. He hated it. He could always paint on the walls with his own blood, but that would require injuring himself to start with. It would also result in him being sent to ‘solitary confinement.’ To be honest, being stuck in the basement rooms was sort of a win-lose for Leonis. Win because it meant that he could be by himself without having to worry about any idiots trying to come in a talk to him or gawk at him or what not, but lose because it meant that he would have to be in this awful place even longer.

Finishing rebraiding his hair, Leonis tied it off and tossed the brush down on the counter. Boring. That’s what life was in this place. He almost relished being bought by someone if it weren’t for the fact that it was always weaklings who looked down on him as if they were better. He would appreciate a challenge once in a while, if only because it provided something for him to do.

Until something happened though, there really wasn’t anything to do but wait. Sitting sideways in one of the chairs, Leonis closed his eyes and proceeded to do this that.

Bronwen: the BONE Dragon

────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

Striding into the hotel, the dragon took a moment to look around and assess any potential dangers to her person. Oh, there were quite a few threats, she saw with narrowed eyes, but this was not a place for fighting. Of course there would be other strong creatures here, and a few humans skittering around like cockroaches amongst their betters. Bronwen's opinion of humans was decidedly low - much lower than her opinion of everyone else, which was fairly bad as well. Bronwen let out an impatient sigh and walked over to the desk, her back stiff as she took the clipboard from the pretty little human working behind the counter. The girl was well-trained, barely batting an eyelash at the flower growing around her right eye, and the dragon gave her a cursory nod before going over to fill out the mortal sheet. It was ridiculous, like one of those dating sites she had seen commercials for on the television. Her lips quirked up in a faint smirk of amusement at the idea of the Hôtel des Esclaves being used as a matchmaking service. Oh, she would be sick laughing if she dwelt on that too long and returned her attention to the questionnaire instead. After a few minutes she returned it to the girl, who smiled cheerfully at her after taking it and processing it into the computer. A few sheets were returned to the dragon, who took them with a raised brow. "Will that be all for you, ma'am?" the girl asked, the smile never leaving her lips.

It only took her a split-second to decide it would not be advantageous to be rude to the girl. So the dragon returned the smile with a stiff one of her own, the expression rare on her face. "Yes, thank you," was the curt reply, giving the girl another nod. A teenager appeared at her elbow and she almost broke his neck before she restrained her instincts. Being bade to follow him, the female strode after him, clearly with a purpose in mind, as she shuffled through the few papers she had been given. So. It seemed they had only a few slaves they thought might suit her...this would either be easy or incredibly diffi - what was this? She paused in her steps, eyes narrowing as she skimmed one profile. The smile that appeared on her lips was no less foreign, but much more cunning.

Oh yes. This would do nicely.

"I want to see him," she ordered, showing the bellboy the paper. He nodded and brought her to the correct floor, where she was met by a burly man, sunglasses hiding his eyes, a small earpiece acting as a radio between he and his fellow guards. Once he saw where she wanted to go, any surprise on his face was well-hidden. Instead he just inclined his head and gestured for her to follow him. Her white hair, normally loose, was pinned up at her neck to keep anyone from grabbing it. The last thing she wanted was to give someone a weak point and be foolish enough for them to take advantage of it. No, she only wore her hair down at home, or around someone she trusted. Which was herself. Her heels were quiet on the carpet as she followed him down the hall and when he stopped at a door, Bronwen walked over to it. Looking at the guard, as if waiting for some signal, she remained still as he reached over in front of her and knocked sharply, once, twice, before turning the knob for her. That was better. As if she was going to knock on a slave's door. But it never did well to surprise an unknown enemy, either. Even if they wore collars and couldn't wear magic, they could still inflict physical damage. Not without severe repercussions, she was sure, but still. Who would want to risk unnecessary injury? He stepped back to let her enter, shutting the door behind her. Her gaze rested on the man in the chair, draped sideways in it and looking at her with boredom and arrogance in his eyes.

                                                  Just as she had anticipated.

"And you would be the fallen star? You are exactly as I expected," the dragon purred, taking a few steps forward fearlessly.
