And if you ever need someone...
.´¯`.••.´¯`.••.´¯`.••.´¯`.••

There was something about the stammering and the so-close-but not quite of a blush coming to the young woman's face that brought a smile upon Broddi's lips. He did not have an absolute way of doing that to all the ladies; but obviously something about Rayen intrigued him. Sure, it could have been whatever she was hiding away upon her face--mysteries was one of his weaknesses--but he was never to prod or provoke unless they intentionally desire that kind of attention. Which, in the young woman's case, there was no prodding. Not for that, at the very least.

Having no choice but to let her leave the room for the time being--he understood he could not follow her unless she does the paperwork or whatever would need to be done. Granted, he hated being cooped up in one place for so long; but why get rid of something good? It didn't seem like he effed up the interview if the Big Man stayed within the room. Once the large man relaxed in the chair--or as much as he could figure out how to do so--Broddi kept silent and listened. More of watching than listening, though. One of the many things his uncle taught him--listen with your eyes and see with your ears. Of course, at that point in time, it made absolutely no sense whatsoever. But as he grew up--and kind of had no choice to gain these heightened senses--it made more and more sense of what his uncle spoke of. Broddi watched carefully how Eysteinn presented himself. Golem or not, everyone and anything has a personality. Broddi was just observing it.

Broddi found it peculiar of why Rayen would need someone less squishy--although from a fighter's perspective, that could be most certainly taken as a compliment. No squishy areas on the body means a hard body. He could not help but give a quirk of a gloating smile at that. That quickly faded, though, when Eysteinn mentioned kobolds.
Those exist outside the Roleplaying Worlds? Briefly confused, he shook away at the thought; but before he could get a chance to edge in a word, the confused moment was possibly interpreted as just ponderings before the Big Man went back to being big and making sure Rayen was alright before she came back in. Of course, he was following orders, but Broddi could not help notice the platonic chemistry between the two. Like Father and Daughter. It was a bit of something that pulled a couple of strings on this cocky heart of his.

For the first time in possibly since before he was Turned, Broddi's face softened--and if he had actual canine ears to show, they would have been sunken to the sides of his head. Moving closer to Rayen, he knelt down to the floor on one knee--which possibly in retrospect, he will look back on it and laugh for being such a damn puppy; but not now. Looking up to her, oddly as if both eyes were visible and seen, he gave a determined yet gentle smile.
"I only ask for one thing in return. If you are willing enough to learn how to fight on your own. This kind of fighting will be slightly different than what you are used to see. I can't really force you to do so, but try is all I ask. If yes, then I will be your less-squishy of a guard." Another thing he will always take to heart from his uncle, fighting for something is worth everything--only if the something is all you care for.

.´¯`.••.´¯`.••.´¯`.••.´¯`.••
...I'll still be waiting.

|| Where: Hotel Room | With: Faust | Mood: Curious ||

Ashton kept his wits about him, watching her body language quietly to look for any form of hostility, though he only found impatience in her stature as well as her general emotional look. When she stated she could kill someone herself and continued on to mention that she had more training in the field then him he would look skeptical, "Training means nothing without actual experience miss.....though you know nothing about me and I know nothing about you, so either of us could be lying at any point in time no?" he'd state his thick Irish accent bouncing on his words. The void of emotion in her voice was clear that she was playing poker face with him, though she wasn't doing as well as she'd like to him. After all his whole life centered around solely doing his job, he didn't have friends or people to hang out with it was just targets, and targets associates he had to get information from by any means. Looking down he would notice her legs switching their weight ever so slightly, she was definitely impatient or uncomfortable, she probably didn't like being trapped in here with him. That was no surprise, he didn't like being trapped in here with himself, he would tilt his head lightly at that thought, it was fairly boring standing in here all on his own all day every day.

She moved her attentions away from him again and was looking around again, he merely waited unbothered by her anxieties, he was the same way when he first got here, though he became more relaxed after a bit, knowing he was always being watched due to the various camera's he located. After all he wasn't a complete idiot nor ignorant of the need to be checked in on constantly. As she would look back to him and continue on to mention that she wasn't really intimidating and that she had issues with men assuming she wasn't. He'd stare at her blankly as she mentioned a body guard, "So.....you've had the "thirsties" after you?" he'd question acting like a bit of a smart a**. She was pretty so it wouldn't be surprising if men lusted after her or wanted to do bad things to her if they were psycho paths, but what intrigued him more was the accompanying her on these jobs that she had to go on. If she was anything like him, dealing with men that wanted her wouldn't be an issue, after all doing something for completion of a job was a mere sacrifice in the face of what needed to be done. He didn't bother looking at her body, she didn't need to have all the "model" looks to be pretty, if she was insecure about her looks, which she seemed to be by crossing her arms under her breasts rather then over. Something fairly small in detail but noticeable to him, that was what some women, mainly wives of his clients would do because their husbands made them feel inadequate, nothing that wasn't fairly uncommon.

He would stare at her and notice the smirk on her face and when she mentioned being relaxed and well basically pointed out his mistake he would merely smile, "That's true, but you're just as uncomfortable in here, the chance of you attacking me is around seventy percent and even then it wouldn't be a big deal. You clearly would rather have me alive no?" he'd state with a snicker, "Not like I value my life all too much anyways." he'd state rubbing the back of his head lightly. She became more impatient as she looked down at her watch and then cut to the chase on him going with her to see a child, he would rub his chin lightly, "Yeah I'll go, long as your husband doesn't kill me." he'd state chuckling lightly. From the way she was referring to a child and a companion it meant she had some form of family right? Not like he would really know, so it was best to assume until proven otherwise. Letting his arms drop to his sides he would look to her waiting patiently, fairly happy to get out of this place though, he wanted to stretch himself a bit more properly.

Faust kept her eyes on the man as he spoke. True, training did mean very little without experience, but she was glad that he was cautious enough to say that either one of them could be lying. One needed that in her line of work. "True. Though I don't much enjoy lying to those I may truly align myself with for longer than a few years." She said truthfully and shrugged her shoulders lightly, a motion of indifference to her. She was appreciative that this man seemed rather patient, it was a good trait to have, and one she typically lacked. Lycanthropes weren't known for their patience, after all.

She went on to explain her reasons for being her and was met with a smart a** remark, she simply rolled her eyes, a slight smirk marking her lips. "Something like that. A lot of my targets seem to grow rather fond of me and think that I'm their play thing. My boss wont have me killing or maiming anyone until I have have retrieved the information he needs from them. So I'm S.O.L. on defending myself to the fullest until the end of my mission." One could almost hear the frustration in her voice as she spoke of the few targets, her mind instantly going to one in particular, but she soon settled the tone down as she continued.

Listening to the male once more, she decided that his words were also true, but that didn't mean that she couldn't hurt him right? However, she was almost... intrigued by the fact that he rounded her attack rate to seventy percent. A bit on the high side, or so she thought. If she hadn't liked him, she would have simply left instead of having to pay for the damages to something she didn't even own. But she was relieved that he would go with her, but his words of her having a husband made her laugh, it was sharp and not too relaxed, as it was more of a bark of laughter than anything true. "I have no husband. Never have, never will. I don't think anything in my house, aside for me, will even think of killing you." She said before she gave a swift turn on her heel and moved toward the door, knocking twice so that the guard would move his sorry a** before she opened the door.

After the sound of the wood creaking as he moved, the lycan opened the door and turned those wolfish eyes toward the male she'd decided on purchasing. "Shall we? It's quite a trip home, but we should be able to get there before we're too late for dinner." She gave him another smirk before the green haired woman turned and made her way out the door and down to the service desk where she paid for her purchase.

Rayen had expected the cocky attitude from before, not that she really minded it in truth, her hands clasped tightly on her lap. Something about this werewolf made her feel as if he would be the right one, but if he didn't want to go willingly - well, then there was nothing more to be done but leave and try to find someone else. She couldn't leave without someone, but the nephilim needed someone who would be loyal to her, not constantly looking for a possibility of escape. It was a fine line, someone who was dangerous enough to protect her, but would be loyal to her for exactly the same reason. There would be very few, she knew, and she hoped that this male would be the right one. When he came over and knelt down near her knee, she looked at him in surprise, her eye widening a bit as confusion flashed over her face. Even Eysteinn looked a bit surprised, though perhaps the golem was more pleased than anything at the man's actions. Although he'd been made to serve the family, his loyalty was true and his affection for his mistress quite real - betraying her was unthinkable and he wanted her to be happy.

At hearing his request, however, her expression crumpled and she looked like she might cry. Shaking her head, Rayen's knuckles went white as she tightened her grip on her hands, looking away from him and down at her lap. "I - I can't - it's not - " She stammered for a moment before the golem rested his hand on her head comfortingly and cleared his throat, so the werewolf was looking at him rather than the girl.

"My mistress is a nephilim," he told the man. At the blank look, he sighed. "The reason she needs a guard is because she cannot physically injure another creature, even if being attacked. She is an empath and battle does not...it is overwhelming to their senses." He wasn't sure the man would understand, or think it only an excuse for the girl. "Rayen can - "

The young woman cleared her own throat this time, interrupting him. Whatever the golem had been about to say, she knew what it was and didn't want the man to know. "I am fighting, in my own way," Rayen told Broddi quietly, not looking up at him. "What Eysteinn says is true - a nephilim can't cause harm without greatly hurting ourselves. It's why I need guards. But I'm not dead weight, either," she added, a quiet sort of resolve in her gentle tone. She raised her gaze then to meet his, swallowing hard. "If this isn't enough for you, then I'll not bother you any further." There was no threat in her words, just the honest truth. If he decided her word wasn't good enough, than she would leave him in peace.

Sure, Broddi was not new at being a different sub-species kind of thing, but there was still so much stuff and many things he would need to learn. Unfortunately, religion was not a big thing in the house he grew up in; so learning about Nephilim from Eysteinn was completely new to him. He found it interesting as to how a creature could be nearly pacifist-like and yet live in a society like this.

When Rayen finally looked back directly to Broddi, he knew. Nono, not what Eysteinn was going to say. But with Rayen directly. Direct violence would not be the thing that helped her fight for oh-so long; but the determination of just simply living.
"It has been so long since I have seen something like that." Meh. She'll eventually figure out what he meant by that. Looking directly into her visible eye--and the hidden one as if it was there--there was a hint of a smile on his face; and strangely, it was a genuine one. "You have my word. I will fight along-side Big Man and do as much as I can to assist and defend you. Just one more request." It was peculiar his face for a moment went monotonic to rather inquisitive. "Ape-ree-cot or App-ree-cot?" Hey. He just wanted to know.

It was easy to tell that there was going to be a lot of things she would have to teach him, about herself and about how she lived. And what had happened, not knowing that her golem had already filled in the man on her history, however brief, omitting that her eye was gone. It seemed he couldn't tell, or that her hair was hiding the mark, as he hadn't stared or reacted to it at all. Everyone else had and she found it impossible to believe he wouldn't. But it didn't really matter. Rayen's expression turned to one of surprise when he said he would go with her and keep her safe - and then confusion when he asked the...was he asking how to pronounce apricot?

"Huh?" she asked in confusion, as Eysteinn snickered a bit in amusement behind her chair. "Like, the fruit? I, uh, always pronounced it app-ree-cot," the young woman told him, trying to figure out how this was relevant to anything at all. Blinking down at him, the young woman tipped her head up when the golem patted her on the head.

He smiled down at her. "I'm going to go pay for him, then, my lady," Eysteinn said quietly. "We were staying the night, correct?" When she nodded, he repeated the gesture and removed his hand. "I will go pay and let them know we will retain a bungalow room," he told her, moving to the door and leaving, saying a soft word to the guard waiting outside.

Left alone with the werewolf, Rayen looked back at him nervously. "Ah, we were going to spend the night here. We can go shopping first if you need anything, Broddi, whatever you want," the young woman added, not caring at all what he would want or not want. But she figured he'd at least want clothes and such. Getting to her feet, she played with the bangs covering her mark nervously, making sure they were still hiding it, before looking to the door. "Eysteinn will know where to find me, so where would you like to go?" she asked, looking up at him with a small, shy smile.

|| Where: Hotel Room | With: Faust | Mood: Amused ||

Ashton would continue to watch her, seeing as she was going to be one of the shielded types that didn't like to expose even her favorite foods, which meant she had many secrets to guard. Listening quietly as she would speak about not wanting to lie to those who she was to align with for a long period of time. A smile appeared on his face as he laughed a bit, "So you plan on keeping me for a long time then huh? I'll attempt not to disappoint." he'd snort fairly surprised and skeptical about her keeping him for longer then a few months, after all he wasn't a real companion type. He would look her up and down for a sign of her lying, but it seemed she really wasn't joking about that, he would rub his head a bit nervous now about the fact she did plan on keeping him around a long time. Most people didn't want him, with his sketchy past he was fairly sore to people who wanted to be around him knowing what he does. Allowing his thoughts to slip away he would decide against thinking of anything that had to do with that, painful memories that made him falter ever so slightly, but they never affected his line of work. Used to killing people he comes close with and well generally tossing his own feelings aside just for the mission. He never regretted it once. The only people that mattered to him before he had killed with his own hands.

Pursing his lips as he cocked an eyebrow at her smirk, she would explain about how her targets were fond of her and like to treat her like a play thing. He would blink and snicker a little, "Abusing a woman's charms. Not very uncommon in the field of espionage. Though it's a wonder your still doing this and needing a body guard at that." he'd mumble looking fairly curious about her situation and what she wanted him to do exactly, after all playing body guard wasn't hard, the issue was not giving her position away if it came to it. If she didn't realize she had to mark boundaries and create a literal bond with him on where he needed to tread he would be going in fairly blind. Though that sort of thing could be arranged later considering she had yet to consent on buying him really.

The sudden laugh made his body tense, eyes hardening from their liquid greenish yellow color to a hard jade color, he didn't look welcoming and gave off a fairly intimidating aura due to it. She had done something that startled him as his natural response was to retaliate or defend himself, something that was trained into him for a very long time. As she would continue on to explain that she had no husband and would never bother with one he would relax some, and then the mention of killing him came about, "You act as if I wouldn't fight back. This collar here isn't exactly for my sweet and caring side ya know." he'd snort referring to the fact if it came down to it he would fight for his life. He has done so numerous times and she wouldn't get an easy kill, hell even poison didn't afflict him, well no anti freeze gave him a stomachache for a few days, but that wasn't all too bad. Watching her turn around and knock on the door to call the guard he would look over at the guard and smile brightly waving. He was met with a look of disgust before the woman would beckon him to get going. Ashton would easily follow her out, putting his arms behind his head in a nice stretch, "The food isn't going to kill me right? I mean I did eat rat poison before and that didn't bug me all too much." he'd mumble remembering how itchy his mouth was after that.

Faust couldn't help the small smile that passed over her face once more before it faded back to neutral. "Let's hope you don't. I don't return that which I have acquired. I kill it and bury it in my backyard." She said, her voice hinting at truth, though there was a mixture of humor to it for once. Normally, Faust didn't let this side of her slip through unless she was on a mission or in the presence of Sinopa, but... It was odd at how intriguing this male was in front of her. She couldn't have helped the joking side of herself from shining through.

Yellow eyes narrowed slightly as they turned to the snickering man, whom she still hadn't gotten his name, but then... It was on that sheet, right? She'd just have to get it later. No use in sounding unprepared for this, even if her impatience with wanting to get the hell out of there was winning over her need to be careful. "I love my job. I wouldn't quit even if I was... sexually assaulted again during a mission. It was at my boss' urgings that I purchase someone to shoo the other boys away. But we will go over all the details later, possibly in the car on the way back, if that is fine with you? The role you will need to play, who you can and cannot kill, etc., etc. All will be discussed. And if you don't like them... Well, then... My backyard is always another option." Again, with that humor shining through beneath the layer of truth it was almost taunting the way she said it, but one could see the glimmer of playfulness in those wolfish eyes of hers.

The lycan only smiled at his words before she replied to them. "I wasn't saying it was. Sin is on the weaker side of the spectrum... And as for me... Let's just say that if you harm Sin, I don't have any problems with killing you, no matter the cost to me." Her voice was almost dangerous, dropping low into threatening side of her. Sinopa was her only refuge from the world. The only ray of almost innocence that Faust had ever come by and she'd be damned if she let anyone else harm her friend and get away with it alive.

Again with almost the sudden and abrupt laughter, before Faust turned her amused eyes over to the male behind her. The laughter wasn't her normal laugh, but she was trying to be guarded around here and that was just her trying to contain the humor. "'If Sin's cooking killed you, it would be because it's so damned good. No. She wouldn't poison anything. Neither would I. I'm more of a 'hands on' kind of killer. I like to leave a statement." She replied before her feet made it down to the first floor. Making her way to the front desk, she paid for her purchase with a wallet that made it's escape from her back pocket and then turned back to him after the bill was all squared away. "Shall we?" The wolf asked, motioning with her hand out the door as she came to a stop a few feet in front of him.

When they got outside, the air was cleaner almost, fresher and the lycan took a deep breath in, closing her eyes for a moment to savor the scent before she continued toward the red sports car. Taking her keys from her pocket, she unlocked the doors with the button and opened the driver's side door. "I have some old clothes that you could wear in the guest house for tonight and tomorrow, they may be a bit big, but they'll work. Unless you would prefer to stop off at a clothing shop after dinner?" Faust asked, her voice more calm now that she was out of the building, not as on edge as she had been, not as uncomfortable and antsy and it was easy to tell by her body language. As of that moment, however, she just wanted to get home and be able to relax at her own table and sleep in her own bed and run through her own forests. Faust liked the little things in life, especially the ones that she owned.

...You know I'm not far behind.

And if you ever need someone...
.´¯`.••.´¯`.••.´¯`.••.´¯`.••

Hearing Rayen's answer, Broddi's face contorted before he gave a small shrug. "Close enough." He was an odd ball, but he meant well--hopefully. Standing up, he stretched and gave a simple nod to Eysteinn as he turned to leave. Clasping his hands together and gave a simple rub as now he had an opportunity to figure out the young woman on her own. Oh nono. He was most certainly not going to do any harm--why do such a thing to someone who freed you? "Okay! First thing's fir--wait. Y'all can stay here for the night?" Now it was his turn to have a confused look upon his face. Why in the bugger would anyone would willing want to stay at the hotel?

Unconsciously scratching the side of his head in a way a dog would, his face went from confused to pondering.
"How about you give me the Cliff's Notes version of who I am suppose to beat down to nothing?" He then placed a singular finger up in the air as if he was wanting her to wait on something. "Before we start, how about you take me to wherever we will be staying for the evening and we can talk over there. Plus, I've always enjoyed story-time." It was something about history that he always liked and appreciated--be it from actual history or just someone their life story. Holding the door open for Rayen, he gestured her onward. It was in his nature--blame his uncle--to be just generally polite to women. Okay that and the guards and fellow employees of the Hotel needed to see her first before he was able to exit his now former room.

It was kind of strange for his to be out of the room. Last time he saw the hallways was...well, he first came to the Hotel itself--obviously unwilling. Now, there was an opportunity to talk and to have some kind interaction rather just from his memories; what does he do? Become just as mute as Rayen once was when she first walked in.
