"That's how I understand it. There may be things I don't know about under development, but if that's the case I'm sure we'll find out later." Jordan didn't sound like he thought that was likely. Still, the chance was there; he wasn't going to make absolute statements on subjects he didn't have inside information on.
"You'll get bruises," he agreed, "but they'll be gone by the next day. Sooner as you and Oki get stronger. You're right, the shield gets stronger too. You'll be able to keep fighting longer as your bond gets deeper, and they learn new charge abilities." He stopped in front of the training dummies that lined one side of the training field. "Here we are. Would you mind summoning Oki so I can see what kind of weapon you're working with?"

Once arrived Quinn stared at the battle worn, aged, dummies with a curious look. He wondered how often they had to switch these out, while they looked a little old they didn't look too bad.
"...You know." He paused for a second, thinking about it. "I have seen you guys with your weapons, back on that cruise... but i never really put two and two together before now." That revelation left him feeling really dumb, of course Oki had another form that was not just a necklace.
How did he summon him anyways?
Hearing the call, the weight of the necklace disappeared abruptly from his neck and instead was summoned in to his weapon form. It was a tall pitch black staff, the top of which had a almost dream catcher like appeal. Situated in the middle was a round stone the same color as his necklace had been prior. He fumbled for a second, before grabbing at it awkwardly; The thing was taller than he was! Looking up at it curiously, he frowned. "It almost looks like a giant bubble wand... owch!" Quinn grabbed at his head a moment later, a sudden feeling of something akin to a headache arriving and leaving just as quickly. Okay okay im sorry!

Jordan laughed. "I take it he didn't appreciate that comparison."
He didn't summon Ferros immediately. "All weapons have abilities that they can use once they've fed on enough Fear. Some cause more damage, some heal, some are protective or cause other effects. The best way to find out what he can do is to let him gather a charge and use it." He fell into a combat stance, feet set apart and slightly staggered for stability, holding himself loosely, ready to absorb an impact. "When your weapon makes contact with another Fear-based entity, he'll feed off their Fear. It takes a few hits to gather enough Fear to use his ability. Go ahead, hit me."

Quinn paused, and stared, at Jordan as he made the suggestion. He could also feel Oki's attention was now focused on the other hunter. The only difference was the weapon seemed....eager.
"Uuuuhm... I don't want to hit you."

Jordan grinned. "Well, there's two ways to build a charge - attacking someone, or defending yourself. I think you might prefer the former." He held his hand out to the side and summoned Ferros, angling the massive hammer so that Quinn could get a good look at just how huge the weapon was.

He still really did not want to attack Jordan. Ferros looked like he would hurt though.

Jordan brought Ferros around to hold the weapon up in front of him. "Don't worry, you're not really going to hurt me. Even if you do hit me directly, I'm not going to mind; I've endured a lot worse. But if you're worried, just hit Ferros. He doesn't feel pain like that."

He looked between Ferros and Jordan, glancing up and down, pondering. Is this true, Oki? If i hit Ferros neither will feel it? The weapon ignored him briefly, his minds eye still glued on the 'prey', as he seemed to consider the pair. It took him a few moments to answer. Yes.
Quinns eyebrows furrowed, thinking about that answer. Yes it would hurt or.... yes it wouldn't hurt? He was figuring the latter, but Oki was acting strange suddenly.
"...O-ok." He really did not want to do this, but this was part of being a hunter... right? He couldn't stand to the back all the time, have someone else there to do the battling.. Only with that thought in mind did he approach Jordan slowly and make a soft swing, using the staff more like a bat, towards the gigantic hammer.
Dmg: 5 (Wtf? Why cant my other characters roll this well first go >8| )

Ferros made a soft, pleased hissing sound in Jordan's mind as the staff made contact. "Good," Jordan said, staying where he was. "You'll start feeling it as he builds up a charge. Try it again."

He swung the weapon once more, connecting against the hammer. It was kind of hard to miss such a huge target.
This time he did feel it, maybe because Jordan said to look out for it, or because this was the second charge of three. "...Huh i do feel something." He blinked, if this were a real battle Jordan would have caught him off guard then. "...Whatever it is its making Oki ... excited, i guess is the term?"

"Yeah, that's it. Should only take one more hit for him to have a full charge. You'll know when he does," Jordan said. "You really can't miss it."
Ferros was rumbling wordlessly in his mind, giving off the sense of rising heat and anticipation that accompanied a partial charge.

The third attack was lighter than the other two, more of a cautious tapping of his weapon again the other than anything else.
The attack was still just enough, the connection made, Oki within practically roared to life. "Holy Cannoli." He whispered, gripping the weapon hard enough his knuckles started to whiten. "You were not kidding." The sensation was honestly pretty awkward feeling. It felt like a ball of energy was focused within just waiting to be unleashed. Not to mention, he noticed, the blue runes and gem on his staff were glowing bright.
"....What do you do with the charge once its built up?" He guessed you let it go, but he really didn't want to unleash this power on Jordan. Turning his head, he eyed the dummies.

Jordan nodded. "See what I mean," he said. Though the contact had been very light, more a touch than a hit, Ferros's runes had also flared brilliant red, and the fiery glow under the surface of his barrel was pulsing with energy. "You can have him hang onto it and wait for the right time to use it when in combat, but he's not likely to be happy about holding a charge. They get really agitated when they have to hold one for any length of time."
He nodded to to the dummies. "Oki knows what to do. He'll guide you. Let him do it."

Oki certain heard, and agree'd, with Jordans assessment. Or at least that was the feeling Quinn was getting. The akhlut was becoming progressively more agitated and making his presence known.
"I dont think i want to hang on to this, it feels more like an anxiety attack." Or Oki might caught him to have one, at any rate.
Turning on the dummies, He did not have to run very far to reach them. Once there, he pretty much acted out the same bat-like swing as before. Only this time it was if Oki had taken over. His swings were faster, as if multiple hits had gotten in instead of one slow one. Once he took a step back to catch his breath, he surveyed the damage... and knew he was staring. Instead of bashed in sides like it felt like, there was instead long trails of deep claw marks in the dummies hides.

Jordan rested Ferros across his shoulder and watched with interest as Quinn and Oki attacked the dummies, moving with a speed that made them almost blurred; where Oki had struck, the dummies split apart in long tears like the marks of a clawed hand or paw. Interesting.
I want to flame, Ferros hissed.
Let them finish. When Quinn moved back to stare at his handiwork, Jordan stepped up, grinning. "Nice work," he said. "That's a lot of damage, especially for someone right out of the pod." He moved a little to the side. "Mind if I let Ferros get rid of his? You might want to get back a little farther."
