Riyo just sighed and shook her head. "You're right. You tried." He got a gold sticker for effort.
When the fish were out of her grasp, the ghoul marched herself over to the fire pit and searched for something she was sure she brought. Ah!
Laying a few feet away was a bag that had been strewn about along with her other goods. Inside the bag: Flint and steel.
At the mention of her... 'unmentionables', Riyo blushed. "Yeah. I'm uh... I'm grateful for that." Considering how soaked to the bone she was, more than likely she'd have to change into those. Jack knows what could've happened if they'd been exposed, besides her utter embarrassment.
After wiping her wet hands on the bag, she grasped the flint and rubbed it against the steel in the direction of the fire wood, which quickly caused sparks. She... Probably should've showed him where to find this before she walked off.
BUT HEY. THAT WAS IN THE PAST NOW. SURELY HE WOULDN'T CARE, RIGHT? "You... Should probably cook the fish." After all, whatever Riyo tried to cook set ablaze and turned to carbon.

He would have cared at the time, but now that it was after the fact? Akubi's ******** had flown right out the metaphorical window at light speed as if they were filled with rocket fuel. The catboil let out a small grunt in response to her gratitude, it wasn't as if he would care if he saw or strewn her underwear around - he was simply trying to be courteous for the most part.
Akubi didn't hate Riyo enough to display her underwear for all of nature to see.
When the fire was going he moved to get the fish ready for cooking - finding a sturdy twig to spear them on like he'd seen on television and then he crouched near the fire and went to cook. The cooking went well at least toward the end when the stick suddenly felt the need to snap in half dumping the food into the midst of the fire, dirt, and rocks.
"....s**t." His ears flattened back as he tried to move to dig everything out without thinking.
In this act Akubi learns a lesson and a yowl soon ensues.

Riyo watched quietly as the fish were skewered, though she figured it was best not to mention that's why she'd told him to bring the frying pan. Oh well.
... Not oh well. DEFINITELY NOT OH WELL. Snap. There went their dinner into the soot dirt underneath... And she had worked so hard to catch those. The feline had opened her mouth to scold Akubi when... Oh...

OH DEAR SWEET SALLY!
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" Riyo screeched, hopped to her feet, and pulled him back from the fire as fast as her body would allow. Sure, Akubi wasn't the most proverbial thinker, but she hadn't thought he was STUPID.
"s**t! s**t! I'll get the bandages!" Adrenaline pumping, she rushed over to scavenge through the first aid kit, practically yanking the burn medicine and gauze out of the little container. "HERE LET ME HELP."

Akubi was shaking out his hand a bit with a small whine, "I was trying to save the fish," he cried out defensively. In that moment all his mind saw was the squandered food getting all dirty and the fire was purely just a weird red and yellow beast that bit him to ward him away from its prize.
After shaking his hand out didn't seem to help he sort of stared at the yelling Riyo before he reluctantly offered her his hand. At least he wasn't panicking?
"Sorry."

Riyo grimaced at his poor attempt of defending his actions. As soon as the hand was relinquished, the ghoul gingerly held it in hers. "This might hurt a little." She took the cap off the burn solution and poured it over his wound, quick to wrap it up afterwards.
"Just... Don't do that again, okay?" The cat ghoul was more worried than frustrated, really. "The foods not worth it." No matter how much each had been looking forward to fresh fish. "I've got some crackers in my bag. We can snack on those." It wasn't much... But it was better than going hungry.

Akubi let out a hiss of complaint as the solution hit the burnt skin, but to his credit he didn't pull away or push at her to stop. He never claimed to be a complete stoic when it came to pain and though he was the receiving end of a lot of it? Didn't mean he quite enjoyed it either.
"...I hadn't planned on repeating it," he assured her quietly. Despite how sarcastic his response sounded it wasn't how he meant it. Akubi just made a face at the thought of crackers but otherwise made no complaint against that. It was crackers or nothing.
He wasn't fond of the nothing option.
"..Quite the adventure so far. Are you regretting it?" He tilted his head at her curiously, the question was sincere instead of snide.

On a normal day, Riyo might have enjoyed the fact that he was in pain. Served him right for doing something stupid. Not now, though. Not in this situation. Everything just amounted in her feeling more guilty. "Good." Whether it was sarcastic or not, she didn't care. Once his hand was successfully wrapped, the ghoul gently released it.
At his question, the demoness glanced up, her lips twisting as she pondered. "Well.." Riyo sighed and rested her chin in her hand. "Not really. I went out to try something new. The something new didn't work out very well. At least I know now that camping probably isn't my thing." Instead of just wondering 'what if' for the rest of her life.
"Nah. There are many things I regret. this isn't one of them."
She paused, eyebrows furrowing. "But I guess you regret agreeing to this, don't you?"

He just let his hand fall toward his side for the time being as he ignored the stinging pain and the discomfort as best as he could. It could be easily seen that he wasn't exactly at his happiest moment right now.
Akubi listened for her response and then was caught off guard by her question echoed back at him and he had to take a moment to actually formulate a response. With his good hand he reached up and rubbed at the back of his neck and then he simply said, "No. It is good that...I guess you drag me out of my comfort zone. Even if I am kicking and screaming a bit."
The catboil gave a smile, "I'll always treasure the time we shared even if it isn't optimal. It is something new we both did. I don't think this has to do with whether camping is your thing or not. We just...Aren't having the best of luck," he said trying to get her out of her discouraged mindset.
There was a trickle of rain and a low rumbling thunder over head just as he mentioned luck.

Riyo couldn't deny she was surprised when he confessed that he didn't regret this. Could he be lying? Yeah, but why bother at this point?
The ghoul smiled and reached out and pat him on the head. "Well, maybe we should turn in early befo-"
... Before the rain started. s**t. The ghoul stood and hustled over to grab her bag, frantically scooping the discarded items up and stuffing them into the pack before she tossed it in the tent.
"HOLD ON, I GOTTA CHANGE MY CLOTHES."
She certainly wasn't going to sleep like that, after all. ZIIIIP went the tent and Riyo disappeared.

Akubi's ears flattened a bit to allow her to give him a headpat. It was a pleasant enough action that he didn't exactly mind coming from Riyo. He didn't felt she was patronizing him or anything - so it was more than alright.
Then ... She disappeared with her bags and things in the tent when the rain was starting. His ears this time dropped as he tried to figure out what he was going to do in the mean time.
"Uh.. Just .. let me know when..."
Loud crack of thunder and it began to pour rain on him.
Yes. The best luck ever.

Had Riyo heard the rain start up? Certainly she had. Was she going to let him in while in the process of changing? Oh hell no.
She did, however, hustle her efforts.
"C'mon then." Riyo called and unzipped the entrance, holding it open. At that point, she hadn't realized just how bad it might have been pouring.

By the time she opened the tent to let him in, he'd taken cat form to try and minimize the wetness or perhaps to try and fit his tubby form under some of the tent's overhang.
He clearly wasn't successful because he was soaked to the bone and looked miserable as he waddled in with sopping wet fur to avoid anymore of the downpour. On one hand he understood why she hadn't let him in right away, but that didn't mean he couldn't look a little grumpy with his lot in life.
If it had been someone else this happened to? Akubi would have laughed but right now he failed to see the humor in his situation.
"Thanksssss." He mumbled and just stood there, dripping water from his fur.

The feline's brow furrowed as she watched Akubi waddle in like a fuzzy little sponge. "Oh jeez." The ghoul pushed their sleeping bags away momentarily to grab something out of her pack. A small towel. It wasn't much, just one of those shitty towels one got at a sub-par hotel (so they were probably free), but it was better than nothing.
Grimacing, she plucked the plump sausage roll of a cat off the tent floor and wrapped him in the meager linen. Now would be the perfect time for an 'it could be worse' line, but Riyo felt that they were above such comments at this point. "Hopefully it'll let up by morning, then we can go back home to warm beds and shelter."

He allowed her, with no complaint, to let her do what she could to make him a little warmer and dryer by comparison. If anything it was nice to have her pick him up and not act all awkward and weird about it - it was progression for her as far as he was concerned.
Even if he had to be a cat for her to be remotely comfortable with the fact that he was male, she was alone with him and in a tent.
"Mmm. Still not sad we did this," he said simply, though he didn't shrug physically, his tone had implied there would be a shrug. "Just wish that it wasn't so ... miserable for us both." Akubi sounded a bit snuffly as he spoke.

"Well." Riyo started, wiping up the puddle Akubi had trailed in before setting him back down. "Misery likes company, so at least there's that." She gave the cat one last pat before pulling the wet towel away.
Wait... Was that... A sniffle? Oh jeez. "s**t. You're not sick, are you?"
