LizzyMoo Ugh, sorry for taking so long, RL is kicking my a** right now ;; Eyeing the false lashes dubiously, Arilee's expression said more about her familiarity with them than mere words could have conveyed. As far as the tall blonde was concerned, false lashes fell into that magical category of More Trouble Than It Is Worth. Oh sure, she'd admired them in their nice little packs on the store shelves, but that was as far as she'd gotten. "Umm... yeahhhh. No. You're the expert here, kiddo."

The child beamed at the compliment, but then shot her own mother a look. "Nooooooo... I am sure Mom's the expert here!" She giggled a bit and then moved onto the other pair of eyelashes, snipping them at the correct length as well before setting them on the table.
Carolynn had been observing for a decent while, however, she now needed to do some work too. She casually seemed to scoop up the handle of a hairbrush that had been lingering at the borders of all the makeup equipment. "While she's working with you on the eyelashes, I will go ahead and get started with your hair. You have about half the amount most girls have, so it won't take too long I think." It wasn't her first time working with a girl that was lacking in the hair department, but there were ways around it to make the girl still look extremely feminine. "The curlers have been heating up, so once she gets you to a small break, I'll get started."
Hearing this seemed to cause Mystery to perk up in a slightly rushed manner. "Oh... well... I work one eye at a time... I put the glue on one eyelash, let it tack up a bit, then put the lash on and wait for it to dry. You just get to sit there and keep your eye closed." The girl had set down the lashes and soon enough had hopped off to get the small tube of eyelash glue. "It'll dry... then I get to help you open up your eye... then rinse and repeat!"
Returning to her stool with an applicator and the tube of glue, Mystery pointed to Arilee's right eye. "Let's do your..." Her eyes briefly had to roll up as if to remember which side that would be on herself before confirming "...right eye first, okay? Just close it for now, but lightly!"

Hoo boy. This was already far past the amount of work Arilee was willing to put in on herself as far as hair and makeup was concerned. With a helpless little shrug to indicate acceptance of her fate, the tall girl shifted her hips the tiniest bit to get more comfortable before closing her eyes.
"Hope you don't mind me keeping both shut. Easier to keep from twitching and blinkin' that way," she replied easily. "As for my hair, I leave it to you, ma'am. It'd be super rude of me to try telling you for job."
Arilee laughed a little at herself, "I mean, seriously. You guys might as well be working voodoo for all I know about this stuff!"

The child used the applicator and delicately dabbed on a bit of glue to the side of her hand. She held the blonde's fake eyelashes for a bit, humming lightly before suddenly dipping in and pressing them close to her natural eyelashes. With her pinky, she pressed on them a little more before setting down all the instruments she had been holding.
One thing seemed to make the child a bit uneasy, and soon enough her insecurities were vocalized. "Mom.... um... should I do the other side at the same time since she's keeping both closed?"
Arilee wouldn't see the pale haired woman nodding, but the response was soon clear when the child picked up the next pair of lashes and repeated the same steps for the other eye.
The mother then retrieved a single curler, then approached the blonde and put a hand gently on her shoulder. "Alright... I'm going to get started now." She seemed rather adjusted to working with people who had their eyes closed without startling them too much. A sure sign she had been doing this for a while. With that, the woman gingerly portioned out a section of hair and began to roll it up before seeming to pin it up with the curler.
"I promise you, there's no voodoo going on here, Arilee! I'd probably lose customers if I practiced such things." She laughed before a certain child added her two cents to the conversation.
"Everything Mom does can by done by anybody! Sometimes Mom teaches classes on how to do the makeup or the hair like she does in the appointments. I've been to every single class!" The child beamed for a bit as if she had rights for bragging.
"You also don't pay the fees, Mystery... so it isn't as big a deal as you think, sweetie," the woman reminded as she dealt with another section of Arilee's hair.

The slight pressure on her eyelids felt odd, but since it wasn't painful, Arilee dismissed it. She even managed to keep from jumping when Carolynn touched her shoulder. She felt her hair being sectioned and rolled and for a moment, she was content to simply listen to the small noises and guess at what some of them were.
Still, she had to grin at Carolynn's quip.
"I guess that's true," she murmured. "Not everyone is into dead roosters and zombie dust."
When Mystery piped up, she had to bite her tongue a tiny bit to keep from laughing outright at the kid's bragging tone. Clearly the girl enjoyed learning about this beauty stuff. As far as Arilee was concerned, she was entitled to the bragging rights since , so far as she could tell, Mystery was doing a pretty good job on her. Still. If it had required a tiny n** to keep from laughing at Mystery's words, it took nearly biting off her own tongue to keep from howling with laughter at Carolyn's.
Trust a mom to know what to say.

Carolynn leaned in slightly after her comment seemed to cause some sort of reaction in Arilee. She looped up another section of hair and clipped it, then made a comment.
"You know, this is not a laugh-free zone... you are allowed to laugh! In fact, I will be encouraging it a lot when we get to actually shooting the photos!"
A subtle nudge and a momentary pointing of Carolynn's fingers to Arilee's lips didn't go unnoticed to the child (though probably was missed by the blonde).
"Oh right!" was squeaked out before the child then mentioned "In a few moments, I am going to put some stuff on your lips to prime it for when I put the actual lip color on, okay?"
Off the stool, and once she hopped back on she had a small brush and a tube of a jelly-like liquid. With a little dab, she soon enough was painting the client's lips with a clear primer. "I will leave that one for a bit..." she announced before hopping off and coming back up with some liquid eyeliner.
Carolynn continued to make progress with Arilee's hair, drawing closer to finished with the bundling process.
"Okay, back to your eyes! I have to add some eyeliner... and once that dries I think I can help you with opening your eyes again!"

Well, if they were going to go about encouraging her to laugh... Arilee grinned and gave a slight nod to show she'd heard Carolyn and understood.
"Wait, what?" she had her attention swiftly blindsided by the mention of lip primers. What in the holy hell was a lip primer? Her lips weren't a house! Though she held quite still and let Mystery work the moment she felt the girl touch the brush to her lips.
Even when the kid was done, she didn't have a chance to speak since Mystery moved so quickly on to eyeliner. Okay, sure, she was starting to feel a little squirrely having had to sit still and behave herself, but she could think of it as training, right? Right!
Breathing in deeply through her nose, Arilee forced herself to relax a little and smile.
"Looking forward to it, Mystery," she answered, hoping that neither mother nor daughter would pick up on the slight tone of 'Oh please god, don't let my eyes be glued shut'.

A final roll of hair was put up, then Carolynn mentioned "I'll be right back... I'm going to go grab a couple things." With that, the sound of heels upon the hardwood floor could be heard walking away down the hallway.
After some fussing with painting with a tiny brush along Arilee's eyelids, Mystery finally seemed finished and gave the client some room to breathe. "I'd love to give you a mirror to look... but you have your eyes closed... and I don't really like people seeing my work until everything is done. You look so gormageousisness* though, Arilee!!"
There was a giggle before she then explained "Once we get your eyes open, I need to do a bit of touch up with your eye makeup, then your lips... and then I am done! Mom will probably finish up the hair soon too... I think she went to go grab you something to put on once we finish here!"

Grinning crookedly, Arilee accepted the compliment. She wasn't a vain person, but it was always nice to have other people acknowledge her general attractiveness.
"Thanks, Mystery," she murmured. "I'm sure you've done an awesome job on my makeup."
Well, okay, she was actually a little worried, but she wasn't about to emotionally crush a kid's self-confidence. if there were problems, Carolynn would fix them. Simple as that.
"I'm curious to see what your mom ends up putting me in," she continued conversationally. "Not to mention what she does to my hair."
Really, at this point, she just wanted out of the chair and to be doing something. Inactivity had never been something Arilee was good at.

The child soon enough was pulling out a couple pieces of facial tissue and setting it next to her on the table.
"Okay... I want you to slowly try to open your eyes... it might stick a bit, but I will help you get them open."
With that the child put a hand upon Arilee's shoulder, signaling she should start opening her eyes.

Oh thank goodness! Arilee, mindful of what Mystery said about slow, she began to try to open her eyes. Now, what she wanted to do was damn near tear them open. But that would require touch up work and more glue. And damned if she was going to do something that made her have to sit here even longer. She wanted to get on with things, thanks.
"Y'know," she said in a conversational tone as she managed to get one eye to crack open a tiny bit, "this is really a lot harder than it sounded."

As Arilee managed to get the eyes open a crack, the child stuck her fingernails delicately under the lashes, helping to prevent any awkward stuck areas from staying stuck. Her touch was quite light and well practiced it seemed, making the process seem all the less startling when considering a child had her fingers pretty much right in the blonde's eyes.
"Okay, you did great with that!" Mystery seemed to chirp. She pulled her hands back and soon enough was leaning in, seeming to stare intently at the older girl's face. It might have seemed like the child was trying to stare into the windows of Arilee's soul, but that was not the case.
The silvery haired girl was just trying to judge what she needed to touch up.
Before she could say anything else, the photographer had made her way back with a few things in hand. Hanging off of her arm was a black one piece swimsuit with red accents and cherry patterns decorating the majority of it. On top of that was a black scarf with red polka dots. In her hand were a basic pair of red heels and a couple pieces of jewelry.
"Arilee, I think I found the piece for you!" With a cheery hum, the woman briefly paused by the client so she could get a look.
"Ooooo... that'll look gormageousisness*!!!" Mystery's oddly colored eyes finally seemed to lose focus upon the blonde's face and soon enough was looking to the outfit.
"Oh... what a good job you've done, Mystery! You just need to touch up the eyeliner and add a bit more 'smoke'... then the lips!"
With a small giggle, the child nodded her head, then asked "Could I ask you to close your eyes one more time? This will be the last time, I promise!"

At the moment, Arilee was way to happy to be able to have hr eyes open to be worried about how close Mystery's fingers were. And then, it was controlling herself when Mystery was studying her face. But she managed to not make any goofy faces or cross her eyes, so hey. Success.
And then when Carolynn came back, Arilee eyed what was in her arms, suddenly grinning.
"Can't wait to try it all on, ma'am," she replied happily. She couldn't wait to get to the actual photography part. More out of a deep curiosity as to posing and the equipment that would be used. Turning her attention back to Mystery, she winked and shrugged good naturedly.
"Sure thing," she answered, obeidiently closing her eyes.

Once the blonde's eyes were closed, she'd feel some gentle brushing of little makeup tools over her eyes again.
"I'm glad you approve... it seemed bold enough to suit you, Arilee!" Without much warning, the woman seemed to join in crowding the client, taking to removing the curlers while the child continued to fuss with the makeup. At one point the woman paused, then uttered quietly "...blend the smoke slightly more towards the edges of the eyeliner, sweetie..."
"Oh, right!" was the squeaked out response. Eventually Mystery mentioned "Okay, open up again!"
Arilee would find Carolynn pulling out a couple bobby pins, and the child setting down her current makeup tools in favor of a small brush and a small cake of bright red makeup.
"Hopefully you don't mind hairspray... it smells kinda bad..."

As interesting as the unseen activity around her was, Arilee was more than willing to obey Mystery and open her eyes. Grinning a bit, she watched the Ladies Wylde with interest.
"Nah, I've probably smelled worse," she laughed. "Guarantee you that the beach is probably worse after a good storm tosses all those fish and thing ashore."
She wrinkled her nose comically (though carefully so as to not prolong her time in the chair).
"So, what's next?"
