Gerradan vs Ergon X
PostPosted: Tue Apr 18, 2017 10:01 am

Solo -

The forests of Jahaur were never silent, even during steady rise of the humidity when most creatures would rest or be hiding until the rains came there was one figure who was working himself to the bone. Sweat was pouring off of him, the hybrid felt sticky, hot, and tired. He was practicing with his sword in a small clearing he had created near his home, the blade however felt very out of place in a dense place like the forest of Jahaur. The great sword was heavy, but balanced and there were many days that he wondered why he chose a large sword as his preferred weapon. There were lots of different weapons he could of gone with...that would made for a better choice for his location.

Another swing and one could hear him cutting the air in front of him, his muscles however protested as he brought the blade back for another practice arc. Pausing he grunted in annoyance it was time for a break else he risked tearing a muscle he was trying so hard to build up. Sighing he had to stop himself from allowing the tip of the sword to dip down to touch the ground. Trying to regulate his breathing the hybrid moved towards a water satchel he had brought with him, placing his weapon carefully down went to sit alongside it. The water was refreshing even if it was starting to get warm from the humidity of the jungle.

After a long drink he wiped the excess water from the corners of his mouth before corking it again. Leaning against a fallen tree he found himself staring up at the dense foliage above. Moving with this weapon in the bows of the tree was difficult. Everything about it was awkward in this place...it would of been easier if he had..just gone with anything else. So why had he gone with this large weapon?

Glancing over the weapon at his side he marveled at his reflection in the broad surface of the blade a moment before looking away.

Why?

The question seemed to echo in his head, perhaps it was his stubbornness that had brought him to this decision. His mother had hoped he would choose a traditional alkidike weapon..a spear..bow or duel wielding small blades...but he had wanted to prove something back then. When he was young, he felt that he needed to prove that even as a hybrid he was strong..no stronger than the pure bloods. Perhaps he was insulting his mothers heritage but he was young and foolish at that point of his life. Older now...he wondered about his choices...did he regret them?

There were bitter sweet memories tied with this weapon. It was hard and awkward to wield but he felt satisfaction upon mastering it to a certain degree. He knew he was far from being a skilled warrior but he knew that he wouldn't stop training..he would master it eventually. Gerraden could recall the disappointment in his mothers face when he declared what path he wanted to train down. Perhaps she was sad that she wouldn't be able to actually influence or help him down this path. By choosing this direction to go he was cutting himself from half of his heritage.

Though to be honest he had never really felt like he belonged with the alkidikes anyway. Being male was only one of the many reasons, his skin tone didn't really allow him to fit in and he looked more like a shifter...even if his skin couldn't shift. Though his father was fairly timid a man, perhaps he liked a more dominating woman like his mother... but even then Gerr didn't feel like he belonged with the shifters either. The markings on his skin gave away his mixed heritage.

Sighing he looked away from the sword, his gaze looking about the forest around him. Although he often gave off the appearance of a goof, someone who day dreamed and spaced out he was a hard worker. Things didn't always work out for him...actually he felt like he had to work two or three times harder than others. Was he just inept? There were those days where he wondered what Rishima really thought of him. They were lovers now...mates..but Rishima still had this overwhelming sense to protect him. Was it simply because he was younger? It was true that there was quite an age gap between the two men, but it had never really bothered Gerraden before.

Did it bother Rishima though?
