Pey had expected the counter attack and already sunk into a crouch, though perhaps far lower then she'd needed. Regardless, it let her avoid the hit.
Raising back up, she brought one tiny hand up using the momentum from straightening up to lend power to a pretty fierce upper cut. She wanted to break his stride and make him fault, creating a bigger opening she could exploit. It was much harder to get in close to him when he kept swinging that scythe around like a bloody baton.
Surely they were getting close to the end. She could feel her shield thinning, and she knew his must be too. "Getting tired yet?" She breathed it out, close to out of breath. Sweat was making her bangs cling to her forehead, shirt hugging her thin frame like a second skin. She was dirty, sweaty, and in bad need of a shower, but this was a really good fight.

The upper cut rocked his whole body to the core, Sylvia faltered in her song gasping in shock just as much as Ro grunted at the pressure breaking through the shield. It was close, but so was hers.
Sweat ran down his own face as he panted for air, he didn't have time to breath, she was in close but he still had one option. He moved spinning the scythe around blade into the dirt hooking Peyton's leg before yanking it out from under her followed by a swift smack from the back end of his weapon when she hit the ground.
Once he had her down he took a few steps back gasping for the breath he so needed.
"No... worse... then you." He finally said as he spun Sylvia about bringing her back upright ready for Peyton's next attack.

Peyton went down hard, bought caught herself on her hands, grunting at the impact as the handle of the scythe collided with her back. Damn. She hadn't expected much from him, but he was sure giving her one hell of a run for her money. On the ground already, she'd use that to her advantage. She kicked at him, skinny leg sweeping up to aim the heel of her boot at the side of his knee. "It's nice down here," she muttered breathlessly as her kick connected. "Why don't you join me?" When he was down she rolled to her knees, then pushed herself up. It was obvious though she was tiring, her movements weren't quite as crisp, not as fast. She still had some fight left in her, but this this match was going to be over soon, one way or another. HP: 10/40 DMG: 7 CHG: 3/3 | 0/2

He didn't expect her kick to carry so much weight, he didn't expect his shield to react so poorly to the ground either. His knee buckled and he didn't have time to catch himself with Sylvia and instead hit the ground hard with a gasp for air.
Slowly he dragged himself back up raising Sylvia in a lazy motion swishing her through the air, but no gust of sound or wind stirred a barrier. Instead there was nothing and Roland simply let the scythe go, letting it vanish back into it's totem before he fell backwards onto his rear once again in the dirt.
"Yea... okay... it's nice down here." He said as he finally gave up.

Her hands were up, feet apart, clearly ready for him to come at her again, but there was nothing but a swipe of the scythe before he fell back to sit on the ground and let the weapon disappear. She blinked at him for a moment, as if making sure he was indeed tapping out, before sinking down to the dirt across from him. Warrick fading off her fingers to return to the solid gold bands that circled her thumbs.
She stared at him a moment, catching her breath, then smiled. "That was a good fight." A really good fight.

She was still ready to go, it wasn't till her weapon vanished that he finally relaxed, shoulder sinking down just a bit as he sat in the dirt letting the breeze wash over him. His chest was still heaving a bit as he caught his breath finally, realizing just how close his shield was to breaking.
"Yeah, it was...what uh, what exactly was that though? Knuckle dusters?"

Small legs coming up, Peyton looped her arms around them. "Kinda, but with spikes, and small blades on the backs." She shrugged, not entirely sure what else you would call them. "Knuckle dusters works."
