Cosmic Eternity heard the mare's struggles as she awoke and found her footing. So it seemed as if the healing had taken. That was a good first sign. However it appeared that she was rushing herself. As her words reached his ears he flicked them back in acknowledgement before turning back to walk into the cave. He assessed his patient before sighing. "You're welcome."
With those words Cosmic silently observed the mare for a few minutes. The silence stretched on before he grunted. "You are being foolish. Rest a bit more."

Morsmordre considered his words. Her body agreed with him, but she hated to give in to it. Besides, that beast and his feral children might yet track her. "We are, in danger." She looked past him, "How well hidden is this cave?"
She bit back the words, two or three times before she spoke them. "You have helped me, I would not have you hurt to watch me as I heal."

He narrowed his gaze in consternation at her words. The stallion's gaze glanced around at the cave before taking in the area around the cave itself. The question of whether or not this place was hidden enough was up to the mare to decide. Cosmic Eternity gave a noncommittal sound at her warning before inhaling deeply. "The fact of the matter is that you said I could go once I have healed you. You are not as healed as I would like you to be."
It was strange to be talking again. As long as he didn't reveal too much about himself idle chatter wasn't so bad.

At first, she could barely get him to stay--and now he didn't want to leave. She sighed deeply. "It's your grave then," she looked around at the cave. It was a nice, natural overhang. It was shielded fairly well--but if that monster and his children came after her, they would back them into a corner and bleed them.
Her throat felt tight as she thought of the foolish half unicorn. No one but her Master had ever stayed with her to help her. "Thank you," it was soft as a breath.

Cosmic Eternity's ears flicked back as he caught the barely whispered words from the mare. It was strange how he now felt compelled to stay and see to it that she get enough rest. Why was it that he was staying? The stallion gave a searching look through the rain outside of the cave as memories flickered past his eyes. Was it for honor that he stayed? Or was it because for something else?
Whatever the reason was Cosmic let his eyes close briefly. He too needed some rest before he would apply his next healing to the mare's injury. In his mind though there was one piece of information that he wanted to know. His eyes opened and his gaze locked on the stranger. "What is your name?"

Morsmordre kept her tongue at first, her snakes writhing in her hair. All he asked was her name, but there was such power in that. "Morsmordre," she said solemnly. She watched him stand there, looking exhausted.
"Why would you want to know my name?" She felt curious about it. It was a strange question, all her name would do for him was bring him grief.

At least he could call her something besides 'the mare' in his mind now. Cosmic Eternity sounded out her name silently to himself. It would also be more pleasant if he could address Morsmordre by her name. There was also a danger in knowing an individual's name. When names were exchanged a small, yet undeniable, connection was formed. Cosmic Eternity knew that even this smallest connection could be painfully severed and yet now that he was actually conversing out loud he found he didn't quite mind the risk.
"I only asked about your name as I thought it would be more civilized to address each other by our given names. Since you gave your name to me I shall return the gesture. I am Cosmic Eternity."
The half-uni glanced back towards the cave entrance before shuffling nearer to Morsmordre. He warily eyed the mare's mane before peering down to her wounds. "How well are you healed?"

Morsmordre kept his name to herself, storing it away in case she found need of it later. Words were power, pure and simple power, and names were just the beginning of that.
She flinched as he moved closer. "Bad, but better than before. I cannot leave yet, though I need to. I--We, cannot linger here long." She knew the hunters, knew they'd come for her like the prey she was to them now.
But her master, oh her Master, he would kill them all.

Cosmic Eternity sighed with regret. To leave now would only mean that Morsmordre would need to keep at a slow pace. If she was in as much danger as she feared than it was not the wisest decision to stay in one spot. His eyes took in the mare's wounds before stepping closer to her. He had no wish to speed the healing process but if they needed to move and soon then perhaps it was best he tend to her wounds the best that he could.
Cosmic spoke softly as his horn pulsed faintly as he worked. "I believe then that if you desire to leave so much that I will shadow you for the time being. These wounds are improving but constant motion will only inflame them to the point where infection could once again settle in. You said that you would 'release' me once you deemed yourself well enough to go off on your own but now I insist that I stay. You may not realize it but you continue to need my presence."

Morsmordre did not know what to say to the stallion, it was the first time in a long time that someone other than Avada Kedavra cared for her well-being. How many slaves had she sold? How many of them would willingly kill her and laugh about it? All of them. That didn't bother her but this did. Kindness was not something she was use to. She was used to earning things like respect and fear, but not this. This was strange. The heat of the healing spread through her skin. Her body was knitting itself back together. The "kindness" that Horus brood had done her, she knew how to repay that...but this? "Thank you," her voice was strange even in her own ears. "I will not forget this. I owe you and I will remember that as will my Master." She bowed her head slightly in deference. "We should go," the rain was coming down slowly but they could not stay longer.

The rain made her hair stick to her in wet globs, her wings and feathers sodden and heavy with water. It would make her heavier and slower, something she was not happy about. Their father had sent her and Khonvoum back to get the snake girl's body. Her father meant to have them send her head to Avada Kedavra if she was dead, if she was alive--then he had other plans. But he had not shared them with him. When Artemis got back to the place they'd left her to find blood and drag marks, along with heavy footrprints. Their father had been made to say the least, his claws had left a stinging mark across her neck. The shame of it had hurt more though. Her father had never struck her, never punished her physically. He had sent her and Khonvoum back to track her, to bring her back dead or alive. She would not suffer disgrace again. Digging her claws into the muddy earth, she let out a low snarl. "The scent is stronger, she's not far now..." Khonvoum Pakhet had never seen his father so angry with Artemis. She and Abellona had always been the chosen ones, the first born--the most loved or so he had thought. But her fall from grace did not bring him the joy he thought it would. She moved stiffly, not like the huntress he knew her to be. She seemed broken, and he could not help but pity her a little. To be humbled and brought low by their father--he knew the way of that, how it felt to be looked down upon. Yet he knew the pity would fade as the light in the sky did. By the time they found them, night would be fallen. The night. He could not help but smile, because they were greater creatures then. Angry with each other, bitter, and eager killing machines. It was in their blood to want to kill each other when the night came, but their father had forbade them that. They must work together. So they would, they'd find Morsmordre and rip out her snakey throat.

The fact that Morsmordre was showing him the respect that she felt he deserved was a little bit of a balm to the way that she'd come across earlier. It seemed that his kindness towards her had opened a tiny little hole in her armor. To hear that she would make sure that both herself and her master would remember to repay the debt to him was astounding.
The stallion glanced to the mouth of the cave before nodding in response to Morsmordre's comment. The sooner that they left the sooner that there was a chance that life could go back to normal. The unicorn stallion sighed softly before stepping past Morsmordre and into the rain that continued to fall lightly from the sky.

The rain fell thicker as they moved. If they were lucky, it'd wipe out their prints. But she shivered with it, and the fears she had had. She knew that she'd be sick from being out in this rain--but staying would mean certain death.
She scented the hair and checked for a sign of Horus brood. There was a faint scent on the wind---They were close, somewhere out here in this sopping wetness. They would be too weighed down with water to take to the sky. She would have some advantage.
Morsmordre whispered the to stallion behind her, "They're near. They're tracking our sent. We must be quiet. Surprise is our best chance, or evasion."

Artemis shook her feathers out as the rain came down heavier and heavier. "The rain is washing out the scent," she raked her claws along a tree bark in anger. Her father had struck her and sent her out here like one of his ravens to do his bidding. He didn't trust her to complete this job, she had to prove to him that she was deserving, that she was better than her stupid brothers.

Khonvoum Pakhet folded his wings tight against him as the sky grew darker. "Oh come on, a few little claw slashes and you're broken. Show him, show me you pitiful little thing."
He saw her dark eyes look at him in anger, but they began to move faster. His sister had found the trail.
