Adam quite liked boats. They had a luxurious feel in comparison to the other methods of transportation he was familiar with, like his client's cars, city buses, trains in the subway, and the coach section of airplanes. That, and he didn't have to worry about seeing a tree or something stupid like that when he looked out the window. It was going to be all water from here on out. Or until they arrived at the park.

Speaking of the park, he checked the back of his pass to see what group he was in. There was a sticker of a mermaid on it. "Ooh, yesss, lucky me!" He smiled and did a fist pump. He was hoping for that, but not expecting it. With all the talk of gnomes, dragons, and unicorns, he had expected to be sorted in a group with the rest of the terrifying forest creatures. "I'm a mermaid. The group, I mean, not like a real mermaid."

Truth to be told, Ciaran wasn't sure what to expect from this trip. Although the invitation and present build-up definitely intrigued him, the young man knew better than to get too excited--after all, it definitely wouldn't be the first time that a promising concept turned out to be a flop. Until they actually reached their destination, he would just have to keep his opinions on hold.

His gaze swept over the crowd, blue eyes absently scanning through the sea of faces until he finally found one that was familiar. Ciaran had initially been a little surprised when he learned that Chikako had been invited on this trip too, but some consideration, he realized that it made sense. Their families had been both long time rivals--or sometimes partners, depending on the particular investment--so it only seemed logical that if one of them had been invited, the other would be too.

He flipped over his guest pass as he strode up the blond, eying the sticker that read "phoenix". Ah, so this was his group then, was it? He wasn't entirely sure how he was going to go about finding the rest of his group members, but that could wait for now. Stopping in front of Chikako, he lifted his pass a little higher and waved it around, lifting a brow. "Where have you found yourself sorted into, Ms. Fukui? Looks like I'm in the Phoenix group."

And speaking of Phoenixes, was that a picture of said bird being held up just a few paces away where he was standing? The man turned and squinted in Zane's direction, eying both the art and the artist before lifting a hand to call attention to himself. "Well, that makes my job a little easier. Phoenix, yes?"

Guest Name: Ciaran Spada
Guest Profession: Investor
Physical Description: Stands at 5'11" and has a lean frame. He makes an effort to look put together at all times, keeping his black hair short and neat and preferring to stick to collared shirts and slacks over t-shirts and jeans. Pale skin and blue eyes.
Brief Character Profile: Ciar tends to be a little cynical, but his skepticism has kept him from making bad investments in the past. It never hurts to be a little cautious, right? He generally tries to sell himself as a gentleman, regarding others in a polite manner even if he secretly feels that they do not deserve the manners.

Chris raised an eyebrow in interest. "I assume that means you travel all around to take these photographs." He would have to look into her pictures when this trip is over to see if any might be used for his own books. Maybe the one he was planning on writing with the lion pride. He shifted a bit to have the island in the background as she asked.

Guest Name: Chris Smith
Guest Profession: Fantasy writer
Physical Description: Lightly tan skin, brown eyes and short brown hair. He typically wears green shirt and pants, a gray and light green hoody, dark blue glasses, and black and gray sneakers. [Like this]
Brief Character Profile: Chris keeps to his self most of the time since he generally had his head in the clouds, thinking up plot lines, characters, story twists and such for his books. When he does interact with others he is polite and calm.

Jean stared intensely at the crowd, waiting for one of her fellow Sparklelords to respond. When no one did after a few minutes, she snorted impatiently, and perched on the neck-rest of her seat. Well, she was going to do something productive while she waited for her team to get together!

Rummaging in a pocket, she pulled out a pack of mini sharpies, and got to work on her badge. Minutes later, she was done.

A masterpiece.

She clipped it back to the belt loop on her jeans, and looked back out over the crowd.

"Narwhals of the Land, assemble!" she yelled, trying a different tactic.

"Hawkeye" was refreshing on his phone a little compulsively as he was bored as all hell on this boat ride. He wasn't paying a great deal of attention to the others around him, at least until someone had actually come up to him, claiming to be a mermaid.

"You're kinda too much of a dude to be a 'mermaid'," he replied while rolling his eyes, "Don't know why they decided to put me in the stupid mermaid group though. I should be in like... dragon group or whatever. Something actually cool."

Her youngest brother had been unnaturally excited at the aspect of her visiting a theme park. Chikako had to remind him that the visit was strictly for business purposes but Kichirou insisted that she really should have fun on this trip as well. Theme parks were the sort of place her two brothers would have to drag her to because she was, in their words, a workaholic. It wasn't as though Chikako didn't want to have fun, it was that she was really too busy to.

A smile quirked upon her lips as a familiar figure approached her. "Mr Sparda." She greeted, flipping over her own guest pass, revealing the same sticker that Ciaran had as well. "Well, I suppose it looks like we're going to be stuck in the same group." Not that she actually minded. Their families had been friendly rivals for a long time, so it probably fell on their shoulders to determine if they were going to work together on the theme park project.

Blue eyes flicked towards the spot Ciaran was waving to, noting the sketch that served as a makeshift signboard. "Well, that makes three of us." Chikako stood, letting her gaze sweep around the other guests. "I wonder how many there are in each group."

Guest Name: Chikako Fukui
Guest Profession: Investor
Physical Description: Chikako has blond, wavy hair, coupled with blue eyes (though actually just colored contacts). She stands at a height of 169cm, although she generally seems taller as she usually wears heels, along with a dress and a blazer.
Brief Character Profile: Chikako is the eldest (and only) daughter of the Fukui family, who runs a chain of hotels. Her two younger brothers have no interest in the family business, and thus, she gave up her studies in law to pursue business instead. As her father is considering to invest in the theme park business, Chikako has been sent to Wonder Park to analyze if it would be worth investing. She is, of course, aware that this is a test to prove her capabilities, but is willing to take up the challenge.

Zane was already down to 54 unread emails at that point, having deleted a hundred or so regarding internships or guest lectures and spam from his alumni regarding the opening of their new projects. The next one was an important one from his client, or so he thought, until he saw the 87 page safety regulations PDF document attached, along with the message that the administration required him to read through it and comply. Further down the message, there was a mention of “handrails are required to be placed at the perimeter of the lake”, which made the man mad enough to consider tossing the phone overboard.

Instead he simply forwarded the email to the office, with every intention of making the interns go through the paperwork in his stead. The outrage from the client’s ridiculous demands would serve as motivation for his staff.

Tired, Zane put away his phone to take a sip of coffee, noticing that someone was finally responding to his drawing. He waved the piece of paper in acknowledgement, nodding at the younger man. Finally, someone who looked rather decent and respectable, he thought, side-eying another guest dressed in a dinosaur suit. The man didn’t seem to be in the same line of profession as him though, but from the way he was dressed, he was probably one of the professionals. Ah, and it seemed the lady he was with was in the same group too.

Pleasure to meet you,” Zane responded, filing the drawing away into his sketchbook as he got up to greet the pair. “Zane, consultant on landscape architecture,” he greeted, extending his hand for a handshake.

Physical Description: A rather tall and lean man in his mid 40s. Wears a Constantly Tired look and has eyebags that are half hidden by a pair of snazzy spectacles. Dresses in a black long-sleeved turtle neck and a normal pair of long pants. Typically accompanied with a cup of snobby coffee.
Brief Character Profile: Zane graduated from university with a specialisation in landscape architecture, and has since practiced for 15 years. He started his own office P. Zane Architects 5 years ago, and has since been involved in a few large-scale, high profile projects. He doesn't like theme parks very much (because everything is so plastic), and he wishes that his junior architects would have gone instead of him (except that they were all dead tired from rushing the previous deadline). He was, however, convinced to visit the park because he found the programme rather interesting and different.

Huh, he and Chikako were in the same group? He supposed that it made things a little easier if the whole theme park thing went through. "So it seems. I guess two sets of eyes is better than one in this case, though. We've definitely got our work cut out for us."

He frowned thoughtfully, but hastily exchanged his expression for a more pleasant one when Zane introduced himself, reaching out and grasping the other man's hand in a firm grip. "Ciaran of Spada Corp. I'm here on behalf of my father to, er...be here for whatever it is we've been invited to see." There was a beat of pause, and then he propped his hands up on his hips, gaze wandering as he took in their surroundings with a furrowed brow.

"That being said, do you have any hunches about what this whole thing is about? From all the dropped hints, you would think that we were going to see something amazing, something like..."

He trailed off with a light shake of his head, and then turned back to Chikako. "Not a very large group, I wouldn't think. I'm sure more of our group members will wander over in time."

Spada Corp, so the investors were here too. Well, they've certainly gathered an eclectic mix on this ship it seems...

Zane smirked, noting the skepticism in Ciaran's comment. He had been issued the introductory brochure as well to know what they were supposed to expect.

"I'm not going to be too optimistic, really. The worst they could do would be a rehash of those mechanically-operated fibre glass dinosaurs we already have in countless museums. I'd be hoping for something ... well, the 3D holographics are what seems popular amongst kids these days." They had probably contacted his office for environment designs, if his guess was right. Honestly, he wasn't too pleased at the thought that the designs were simply going to exist as renders in that case.

"STEVE!" Bear bellowed not seeing his friend. He was not going to wander this place by himself with strangers.
"STEVE, YOU BETTER NOT HAVE LEFT ME HERE." He Bellowed again almost running over the smaller guy asking about gnomes. What gnomes? Didn't exist, how silly.
Bear glanced at the back of his ID anyways, the groaned. Who came up with these name. "Bear, my name is Bear, I am a bear not a gnome." He his his frown of displeasure quickly and waved the guy down. "I'm with you, it seems."

Algie arrived holding nothing more than an old battered book and a handled canvas bag. He glanced over his glasses at the crowd, a few strange looking folks and another nondescript handful of people buried in their various electronic devices. He wasn't surprised really... this generation and their gadgets.

He found his designation and looked up to the group with the feigned smile of someone trying to get off on the right foot, "Mermaid?"

The writer worked his way to a seat, already tugging undone the button on his shirt. It was getting warm. Sweater had been a bad choice.

Quote:
User ImageGuest Name: Algie Mixlin
Guest Profession: Comic Writer - Lecturer - Professor
Group: Mermaid
Physical Description: Fifties, salt and pepper neatly cut hair, he's a sort of tired-scruffy version of handsome. He dresses like a typical english professor type... sweaters, button up shirts, scarves, etc.
Brief Character Profile: Algie become known for writing what are now known as 'classic' comics. Edgy politically fueled hero stores which changed the way many looked at heros. He was never fond of the spotlight (not like theres much in comics) and has continued to live, almost hermit like, in a small village that is his home town. He doesn't write many comics anymore (a few small things here and there), instead often guest lectures at universities and teaches writing. He rarely makes appearances or signings and has denied connection to any movies or shows made of his works.

Looking a little alarmed by the man who approached him, a man who was not only named Bear but who also considered himself a bear, Harlan Wimple Attorney at Law quickly adjusted his thick, horn-rimmed glasses before immediately giving the other man a haughty stare.

"I'll need to see the back of your badge," Harlan Wimple wheedled, taking a moment to readjust the 'laptop case' (which was not really a laptop case, but a man-purse, messenger style, that his mother had bought him for his most recent birthday) slung over his shoulder.

"I'll also need," he continued, holding out a damp hand expectantly, "to stress the fact that there are strict rules the Gnome group will be expected to follow, as I am not going to suffer any hi-jinks, horseplay, or general mischief."

Leonard Dickens, expert photographer, rising star in the cryptozoology field, and aspiring author, sat in a corner of the ferry, staring straight ahead, clinging desperately to his camera pack, and looking rather green. It might have been the light reflecting off the water, or possibly from his brightly colored hair. Or it might just have been seasickness.

Len didn't like boats and he didn't like water, and he hadn't eaten any breakfast in preparation for the ferry ride, and as a result his blood sugar was getting low and he still felt like he was going to hurl everything he had ever eaten in his life. He kept his teeth clamped together and his eyes fixed on a bolt in the wall and tried to concentrate on anything but the way the floor was rolling and heaving with the waves.

His badge had flipped itself over to display a centaur sticker, but whether he was going to be any good for pleasant conversation with group members was doubtful.

Guest Name: Leonard Dickens
Guest Profession: Photographer
Physical Description: Painfully skinny, tall, and gangly, Len wears cargo pants, t-shirts with sayings he thinks are witty printed on them, and vests with lots of pockets. He wears oval, wire-framed glasses with thick lenses, and has dyed his short, messy hair a violent blue.
Brief Character Profile: Len (not Lenny) is an amateur photographer who is best known for his photographs of cryptids. He spends his time researching and tracking down local legendary creatures, proving or debunking their existence. He is most famous for a picture of what appears to be a Sasquatch, taken in the eastern Appalachians. He is currently writing a book titled Into the Unknown: Tracking and Documenting Undiscovered Species. Respected authorities in the field agree that this book is probably a load of crap, but Len's photos have yet to be proven fake.

Len is opinionated and loud, interested in everything, and willing to ask nosy questions. He wants to find the truth and is hugely excited by the prospect of getting good photos of creatures most of the world doesn't believe in. This could be the biggest story of his career ... so far.

"Indeed." She agreed. "So I guess we're partners... for now?"

Landscape architecture, huh? Interesting, she thought with a quirk of an eyebrow. "Chikako Fukui of Fukui Corp." She introduced herself after Ciaran, reaching out to shake Zane's hand in greeting. "Same situation as Mr Spada here." She tilted her head towards the dark haired man with a smirk.

"Well, it certainly seems like they want to impress us." Hopefully, they would. Although Chikako supposed that even if it wasn't, the Fukui family had nothing to lose.

Emilia Santos had sat on the floor as soon as the Ship started moving.; She hated ships because of the rocking movement. It would always cause her drawings to rock with it, and well, who wants to just continuously draw wavy lines. Not to mention she had terribly motion sickness that just caused her to become horribly nauseous.

Her face had started turning green as she tried to start drawing the people around her. Some how she got a few rough sketches down, but once again the issue with a rocking boat caused her great discomfort. Her hands scratched down her face after closing the sketch book and shoving the mechanical pencils in her messenger bag.

She rubbed her eyes roughly and tried to stand up. Her bright green eyes glanced down at the guest tag and she noticed she was part of the gnome group? Gnomes? Her brows furrowed in concentration. Weren't gnomes really short and annoying creatures that stood on lawns to protect flowers from traveling onlookers or something?

Shaking her head, she looked around for her group. But then bit her lip and shied away from any one who approached her. This was going to be hard.

Emilia turned around quickly and then suddenly bumped into something. Stumbling backwards she noticed it was a short man who was speaking to a large man... and he mentioned something about Gnomes.

How was it possible that she found her group already, she wondered. However she shook her head and coughed an apology. "S-sorry.. I. Um. Gnomes..? yes that's me... too.. I think. "

Holding out her guest pass to show her gnome sticker group. Her voice is small and not very loud. "I am Emilia... Santos. "
