Kettil laughed at Lark's 'down low' response and nodded, "Fair enough."
The boil smiled lightly and nodded, "I am sure they do, I am sure they wouldn't be upset if you wrote them a letter or somethin' just to let them know how you are doin'."
He hummed softly and shrugged, "You can do it, Lar. You never shied away from hard work! I'll even help if I can. Whatever it takes."
He glanced at her a bit, "..Since you're here now are things better back home?"

Lark shrugged.
"Not really. Well. Ma's a harpy, wailing and crying nearly almost all th'time. Had to get away from it. I mean. I can't be there day in n' day out jest waitin' fer her to decide t'live again."
She pursed her lips.
"Da seems to be doin' better. He was th'one who wanted t'split, so he did. We still talk, but, I dunno. Sometimes I feel like it mighta been my fault. Like I was a disappointment, y'know?"
Lark waved a slender hand in the air.
"Don't matter now. I ain't gonna keep on feelin' like I ain't good enough fer anyone, not any more."

Kettil listened quietly and tilted his head to one side as he looked over at her, "You always been good enough to those that matter. Y'always been good enough for me an' my kin," he replied simply with a small shrug.
"So what you're a shaman and you get yourself a kickass kangaroo familiar! You are just as talented and strong as anyone at this school or in the world as long as you work hard for it, Lar." He smiled a bit and rubbed the back of his neck.
"S-Sorry just ... my opinion and all..Your da always did piss me off. Like, a lot. He was a real a*****e..." He frowned a little, "No real father should treat their child as if they are inferior."

Lark rolled to her side and propped her hand against her cheek. She watched Kettil closely, a somber expression on her face, and a few long moments passed before a broad smile brightened her features.
"Too right, Ket. S'why I always spent so much time at yer place. I think it's b'cause I fit in with'em all, y'know?"
She shrugged before flopping onto her back.
"Feels good t'be back. Feels like I grown up a bunch, t'let go of all that bad stuff 'n just... enjoy life, y'know?"

Kettil felt relieved that she simply let the words sort of absorb into her being and agreed with him. Then again he felt they were simple truth that she should always have known, and she just needed to take hold of them.
"I'm glad you're back and we've both grown a bunch," He observed quietly as he stared ahead for a long moment. Kettil always enjoyed life no matter what. "The only way things can go is up, right?"
There was a moment where he seemed to be focusing, FEAR drawing forward into his hand and eventually his pin had formed. He offered it toward her, "Been meaning to give you this. Yer m'best mate, you should have it."

Lark sat up and took the pin from Kettil, staring down at it for a long silent moment before lifting her eyes to meet his. She fought with herself for only a second before leaning forward to press a chaste kiss against his cheek.
In the time it took her to do so, she'd created her own Fear pin, and slowly pressed it into his hand.
"Yer m'best mate too, Kajika. Nothin's never gonna change that."
She flashed him a sunny smile, suddenly feeling as if a huge weight had been lifted from her shoulders. Yeah, everything was going to work out just fine.
"Where y'think them buffoons have gotten off ta?"

The chaste kiss on the cheek was met with a small blush and an accepting smile, again the blushing was a reaction he couldn't control. When the pin was pressed into his hand, his fingertips closed around it and he nodded a bit to Lark as she spoke, "Right. Nothing ever."
Affirming and reaffirming it seemed like a good thing to do. He wasn't in denial because it simply felt right, and a life without Larkspur in it seemed unforeseeable and alien. The boil safely pocketed the pin she'd given him somewhere safe.
"Hm, they can't have gone far. Especially if they're talkin' together," Kettil said thoughtfully. "Wanna go find them?"

Lark took a moment to rearrange her hat, removing it from around her neck so that she could carefully attach Kettil's pin. It looked good there, like it fit, and she crammed the hat on her head shortly afterwards, chuckling softly.
"Ben's prob'ly tellin' all my secrets," she grunted softly, voice rich with humor. "He's real good at that."
Moving to her feet, Lark offered Kettil a hand up.
"Lets find 'em. I got some homework to tend to back on campus, but it jest felt like th'right time fer a walk."

Kettil laughed a bit, "Ben tells all the secrets and Endy keeps them all, a great pair," he grinned slightly as he took her hand within his own to get up. There was a small moment before he suddenly wrapped his arms around her in a brief hug, "...Thank you, Lar. Thank you for talkin' it out with me. It'd hurt me more if we couldn't come to an accord," he murmured softly to her during the embrace. His voice was thick with real emotion and affection, relief as well.
He let her go as he started forward with a bit of a nod, "Ya! Don't be like me, I keep turnin' m'homework in late! Did ya know I got an A- on one of my papers? It was for a class about classification and utilization of FEAR," he chattered on as if that moment hadn't occurred just then.

She wrapped her lanky arms around Kettil, delivering a squeeze that belied the strength of her scrawny form.
"Awr, c'mon now. Don't thank me. I should be th'one thankin' you. I'ma chicken s**t, but I'm workin' on it."
When he let go of her, Lark's long legs ate up the space between them as he moved ahead.
"Yer lucky Endy keeps yer secrets. Half th'time Ben embarrasses the jackdamned s**t outta me. He's terrible, n' if I didn't adore his dumb a** so much I'da figured out a way t'get ridda him."
As if that were even possible. Lark chuckled.
"I think I see 'em right over there."

Kettil smiled a bit at her words, "T'be fair emotions are scary as hell t'work with."
There were some things that were scarier than the unknowns that were around them at Halloween and emotions were one of them. Kettil often embraced his with an exception of a few times where other things mattered more.
As she chattered about her Familiar, the boil just laughed, "I had lost Endy for a bit, trust me you go a bit crazy without that extra company," he replied softly. "Seemed I couldn't get enough together to summon her bigger form at the time..."
He shrugged a little bit and when Lark pointed out that she saw them he moved toward it, "Hey Ben! Hey La-la~!"
Endzela peeked up from where she perched, "Seems they are done talking, Dearest."

"Yer tellin' me," Lark chuckled with a shake of her head.
"That happened t'me once. Well. It wasn't that I couldn't summon Benji, jest that I was scared I couldn't." She shrugged, beaming as they came upon their familiars.
"Ket, yer lookin' great, ain'tcha? Yer Endy's sucha treat. Missed that pretty face of hers," Ben grinned and loped slowly towards his bonded. Lark greeted the boomer with a gentle scritch of her fingers against the side of his face.
"You two all caught up?" Lark asked Ben with a smile. The roo nodded and grinned.
Lark turned towards Kettil, looking happier than she had in ages.
"Y'gonna walk back now or stick around out here?"

Kettil nodded over at Lark, "I remember that time."
"Glad to see you looking so much more at peace, Lark-dearest. Ben has been so worried over you," Endzela chattered as she took wing now so she could get ready to leave with her Reaper when the time came, "You look so lovely with a smile, Lark."
Kettil grinned at Ben as he reached to also give the Roo a gentle pat. Honestly, he'd missed the critter. He always liked the way he talked and his concern for Lark, "You're looking great too, you keep Lark safe, right?"
There was a thoughtful pause, "Let's walk back t'gether! I think I'm about ready for some food," Kettil announced.

"Aw, Endy, yer a precious thing," Lark said softly, genuinely, before she tugged on one of Ben's ears. The roo shot his reaper a proud look before his gaze darted over to Kettil.
"'course I do," he rumbled amenably, thumping one foot on the ground as Lark moved around him.
Lark looped her arm through Kettil's, grinning. She couldn't stop smiling, and it was the most bizarrely amazing feeling. She hardly felt like the same ghoul.
"Yer buyin'," she chortled softly as they headed back towards town. It'd been a beautiful day, and truthfully with Kettil back in her life, it felt like she could accomplish most anything.
