It was far later into the evening and Ekita was still laying in the tent with the sleeping gnome mage. The other woman had not so much as budged an inch since the Axantian had come in, if she had not been breathing then the redhead might have thought she was dead. And that was the very topic she was considering as she stared at the fabric roof over her head unable to find rest of her own. She had long since stripped off her armor, it lay in a pile just behind her with the gun Vaelrirn had made for her resting beside it. Her fingers toyed with the end of her braid and she was resisting the urge to grind her teeth in frustration. Shen had been mostly silent, content to settle 'beside' her in his own way.

The prospect of death in and of itself did not scare her. She had been a storm child, that meant living with the knowledge you could die the next time you went out to work, it was inevitable that one day lightning would find her - and it had, the day she landed in this realm in Xun's lake. Even in the present time she knew death was coming, Shen would take her one day and probably devour her whole being the possessive dragon he was. It was only the possible deaths she did not see coming that rattled her - like the demon's sword that had almost found her in Outland.

Just because he had been silent did not mean Shen was not paying attention to the woman beside him. To the casual observer she might look pensive perhaps, but the inside of her mind was full of fear. It was very strange because fear was something he had never felt from her, not even in that first shared dream when she realized just how real he actually was even if he lacked a true physical presence. He got up and picked his way onto her, seemingly unconcerned that she would feel the sensation of his claws pressing into her flesh as he moved along. He nosed at the crest of her cleavage, where his gem rested in her flesh, to get her attention.

Pet.

Her gaze snapped to where he would be sitting were he actually there, even though there was nothing to look at. At least he had managed to get her attention... What? Even her mental voice lacked its usual bite when he disturbed her like he just had now, the only sign of normalcy was the fact that she frowned.

Come with me. It was a command still, but much softer than usual- rumbled like distant thunder. After that all his 'weight' would seem to vanish from her chest.

Then there was the sensation of being pulled under toward sleep and she had little choice but to obey, unable to fight it even if she wished to. After a moment of complete black she found herself seated in the middle of a massive platform, of cold stone and a pillar at each corner. Two circular spaces surrounding the one central one she sat in, the remainder was divided into quarters and patterned like clouds. Flickering light like lightning seemed to dance in the relief of the pattern, in one quadrant after the other.

Ekita was not sure how long she was made to sit there, time seemed to stretch out forever in dreams. The air in the room seemed to change gradually, like it would when a storm was building up and finally lightning struck one of the pillars and ran into the quadrant it was attached to, like it was a ground wire and lit it up brightly. She lifted a hand to shield her eyes from the sudden brightness, it wasn't until she put her hand down that the realized Shen was standing there. He strode her direction, tail lashing back and forth. He no doubt with a concrete purpose in mind.

He sat down in front of her and reached out to cup the side of her face, claws grazing the skin of her cheek lightly. "Nothing or no one will take you from me. Your death, like your life, is mine."

Macabre, perhaps, but his words brought her comfort in a way she could not explain to anyone else. As much as she might loathe to admit it no one knew her to the depth that he did. Rather than try and quell her fear with kind words he gave her the one thing that he knew would silence it - certainty. He would not let anyone or anything else harm her. When the time came her blood would be wholly on his claws and she was alright with that. Her eyes closed and she visibly relaxed as she continued to stroke her cheek.

She drew in a breath as his hand wandered downward, caressing the side of her neck and not letting it out it had brushed over her cleavage. Then his hand withdrew and she opened her eyes again. She felt a good deal calmer now that her fear was forgotten.

He knew the answer to this question already, he could feel it in every fibre of her being. "Does that satisfy you?"

It does. was what she started to say, but instead she shook her head.

Her sudden cheekiness amused him, he smiled almost ferally and his tail flicked back and forth like an amused cat's might. This was more like Ekita, being wild and fiery suited her much better than being scared and fragile. "Hmn." His tongue brushed over his lips as he pretended to consider his options. "Well then, what would?"

He knew her thoughts but she still managed to surprise him by suddenly getting into his space and forcing him backward onto the platform. The thud of his back hitting the stone beneath them echoed through the room and was answered with a rumble of thunder. Her intentions were obvious, intended methods, however, clearly much less so.

Shen pulled her down to him and with the next crack of lightning they were gone.
