It was always a minor surprise when a dragon other than Berath (or Belcarreth these days) addressed him directly, a pleasant one though. Becka's sudden departure however garnered a small frown from Bereck, not directed at the apprentice or indeed at anyone else; Bereck's reaction to mild bemusement just happened to look rather cross. Well nevermind, either she would return soon as her dragon said or he would track her down.

When C'ross mentioned not wanting to be near the junior weyrwomen Bereck repressed a snort, he didn't blame the boy in the least. When the blue rider made her joke Bereck actually allowed a little noise out and one corner of his mouth pulled up in a crooked smile. "You'll be famed throughout history, just don't try to ride both at once," he said dryly.

"I think you're both Yours," he continued with a nod to the green, another young dragon gratifyingly willing to address him. She seemed willing to address everyone present though so he supposed he shouldn't go around feeling special for it.

And now for Natai. Bereck raised an eyebrow and gestured around himself with his mug. "It's like a gather, but the guests of honour aren't allowed to drink themselves into a coma," he explained. "Eating too much and drinking too much is the norm for everyone else though, along with congratulating the new riders and the usual social jockeying for position."

That’s not how it works, Nimith explained patiently. He knew these things, from the guard training inside of C’ross’ head and partly from his own sense of duty. If you could just tell people not to go places, then guards would keep all the Weyrwomen locked up in their quarters all the time so that no one would try to attack them. Perhaps she is not terribly clever, but now that she is here she needs looking after.

C’ross lifted a hand as if to wave off implications that he might be trying to insult the Trine Weyrwomen. “I’m not saying they’re not nice, I’m just saying if I happen to be standing over there, there’s a non-zero chance that they’ll ask me questions I don’t know the answers to.” C’ross was Hold-born and Hold-bred. He knew exactly jack s**t about dragons... or, well, that wasn’t true. He knew what he’d gleaned from lessons, and just enough to keep from killing Nimith. But not any hard questions. He wasn’t even sure off the top of his head how many different dragon colors there were.

“Bereck’s got a point. You can drink if you want. I guess the weyrlings eat and stuff our dragons full of meat and try to make some friends.” Natai seemed rather out of her element, and C’ross could sympathize. He wasn’t used to attending parties that were technically in his honor. Most of the time he was more of a... natural bouncer, one could say.

Narisa and Ceph (ohgod the post mutated and grew... *hides in corner* )

She'd taken the time to try and relax and wash away the worries and concerns she'd had during the Hatching. All the eggs had hatched and Impressed! That was reason enough to feel giddy, right? Except... she hadn't. And still didn't quite feel the joy one would expect the rider of the clutchmother to feel. But shaffit, she couldn't shake the worry from deep within her! Was Cepheith alright? Her Gold gleamed brightly and proudly, yet she'd not Risen until later than was usual for Gold's. And the lack of metallics...

Narisa closed her eyes briefly where she stood, trying to shove those thoughts behind for now. She could feel Cepheith's concern hovering at the edge of her mind. Along with exasperation. Maybe she'd speak to someone about all of this? Preferably someone that was not a dragon.

Try to smile, mine. They come. And this evening is for Them. From her spot, out of the way of the tables and food, Cepheith trilled sweetly to all the new weyrlings. She was quite content where she lounged next to Suunath.

Blue eyes flickered to Kindra beside her, before moving up towards the first of the new weyrlings to arrive, Narisa put on a smile to greet and congratulate them. She smoothed her hands down the light fabric of the rosy pink dress she wore, which snugly flowed along her curves but in a gentle sort of way. Her posture was still a little too tense with everything that was on her mind, but she managed to pull off a sincere warm demeanor. Which also helped her to do the job that had fallen to her, as Ceph's rider. Privately, Narisa was glad this wouldn't be the first time she'd made such a speech.

She waited until the last of the weyrlings had entered, allowing them several minutes to situate themselves and sit with whomever they chose. Then she addressed all the Junior Weyrlings. "I'm sure you've heard it enough by now from me, but let me just say it once more. Congratulations, new weyrlings! I'm proud of each one of you. You're new journies as a Rider are only just beginning." She glanced around them before continuing. "Now, most of you have probably heard this already, but humor me in hearing it once more. Your new bond with your lifemate is special and quite wondrous. Your dragon bonded will be loyal and loving to you, and you alone, in ways that can't easily be described with words. You will never find anyone that will know you as well as your dragon. And in the coming days, each one of you will have the chance to explore and begin to understand this bond. However," Narisa's expression grew slightly more firm, "I must lay down some rules that will keep you and your new bonded alive."

Giving them all a moment to really focus, Narisa folded her arms and continued. "Rule one: Absolutely no sex. None. Not until your dragons have fully matured." She paused, expression growing stern and losing some of her usual warmth. "Rule two: Do not, under any shaffing circumstance, consume alcoholic drinks of any kind! It is not allowed until either myself, the other ranking rider's, or your assistant weyrling master tells you this rule has been lifted. That your dragon's mental bond is strong enough to handle the confusing state your own mind will become to them." She'd seen enough foolish new weyrlings 'forget' this rule. And Narisa refused to see it happen with this clutch. "All the rules I will give you this night are important. But none so much as these first two. Sex and drink addle your mind, and this will confuse your dragon. Your bonds are still new and growing, but still impressionable. To break either of these rules could mean your dragons life. The confusion they feel can be enough to send them between. And there is nothing that could ever erase that sort of pain."

Narisa allowed those two rules and her emphasis on them to sink in before moving on to the next rule. "Rule three: Do not go between or between times. Not without supervision or prior training. Unless you'd all like to end up suffocating in a wall." A pause. "Or another Rider." Yeah, no need to go into detail about that one! "And along a similar line, rule four: don't try flying until you've been cleared to do so. Now, I know you'll all be impatient and excited to test out your wings, and trust me, you will get that chance! But trying too early could strain your dragons muscles too far and then they will never be able to fly. This is doubly true for those of you with Atypicals. Their endurance is not as great as the other hatchlings. However, I am not saying you can't practice flapping your wings or working on the exercises you'll learn about. Just please, don't jump the gun on this rule!"

"And finally, rule five: don't chew firestone just yet. Your weyrling master will let you know when the time has come for this. When it does finally come, you'll learn not only about firestone, but also how to use the flamethrowers as well." Now her expression brightened and lost the grim sternness about it. "Follow these rules and you all will find your lives being much easier than suffering the consequences otherwise. But for now, this is a Feast in your honor! Enjoy getting to know your lifemates. And your new bunkmates."

Congratulations, young ones! Cepheith spoke to all junior weyrlings.

"Let us eat and be merry!" Narisa grinned and gestured all around them at the Feast before stepping back and sighing heavily. She sought out a goblet of cool light wine to refresh her throat after that speech. Then glanced towards Kindra. "I'm glad we don't have to give that speech very often." She teased lightly, glancing over her shoulder to see if she could possibly spot Natai.

Her dragon, meanwhile, had already been informed of another certain Gold. Immediately she lit up with excitement and sought out Iachixth. Greetings, little one! I am glad you came to visit us on this festive night! I hope you and Yours are well? Mine would like to see yours too. And then there was one of her little ones coming to greet them! Cepheith crooned softly to Lanterneth, pleased to see her young daughter doing well. It certainly is a good evening, my little one. You and Yours should enjoy it!

After putting on his rider's cords, Kh'men had watched and ate while Maicoth ate as well, occasionally putting in his opinions. Finally, the brown was full just about the time Narisa had given her speech about rules and responsibilities. Those he understood. He knew how to obey the rules and if they were for Maicoth's safety, all for the better.

He wondered if he should find the ones called Becka and Phasianth. There were only what... Two or three blues? And only one of them had gone to a girl. Skimming the room, he spotted a group of weyrlings around a man he knew only as a MasterHealer. Ugg. Strangers. But it would be rude for him to send Maicoth to do his job. Checking to make sure he was clear of stains and crumbs, Kh'men stood and motioned for his brown to follow. For a big man, he could move quietly. Coming up on the group, he waited for a pause in conversation and coughed politely. "I am Kh'men and this is Maicoth. Would one of you know who Becka and Phasianth are... We are their bunkmates."

Who had assigned Becka to bunk with with a boy? Bereck looked Kh'men up and down with a slightly frosty air about him. It wasn't the boy's fault how things had been set up however and so the healer tried to make himself relax. "Congratulations Kh'men." He could managed that much courtesy at least. "becka is my apprentice. That's her over there," he gestured with his mug, "she and Phasianth have just gone to get something to eat." What would Becka make of the arrangement? Why had she been placed with him rather than the other girl who had Impressed? Well she would just have to cope with it, just the first of many things to adapt to.

Z'fer

Z'fer snorted, looking sideways down at Hekate. "What all the male riders? No. Just thinking." He reached his arm out, an invitation to join him at his side. He eyed the outfit she wore possessively, and the gold flit around her neck. "Prince been exiled then? I thought he was the only one allowed there." He knew very well her stance on golds, and was quietly jealous of her obtainment of Pauper. Sure he left the care of his own firelizards to her for the most part, but he'd feed and oil them on occasion when he had nothing else to do.

Glancing around the room again he caught the eyes of a dark young woman for a brief moment. No knots, no identifying features that he could place, but a itch at the back of his made made him more aware of her than he might have been, why, he couldn't remember though. She was pretty enough but with Hekate at his side he felt no urge to try his luck. The only really remarkable thing about her was the fact that he couldn't recognize her.

Z'fer hadn't actually been to meet the new goldrider. He'd been preoccupied with his own personal dramas and really, of all people to convince her to come to Trine, he was not the best suited. He hadn't thought of her much at all until recently, with the resignation of Abigail pending. That she was his dragon's offspring, the only gold known alive bearing Malvren blood, hadn't registered with him until now. After all, Ianath and Inaari were MIA. He, nor anyone else that he knew of from Malvren had heard from what should be their Sr. Gold since the revolution.

If the goldrider was to be convinced to anything, maybe the offer of her own Weyr would do it.

Narisa's speech received a lazy lift of his mug in salute and he turned to again watch the weyrlings reactions. There were always some who balked at the restrictions. He knew he had, and if he recalled correctly... Hekate had had difficulty with them herself. The memories brought a quirk to Z'fer's lips.

Calanoth hovered on the outskirts, as of yet unaware of the gold hiding in the forest as his attention was on watching the little ones through Z'fer's eyes.

"Well if you wanted to be a bit experimental~" She trailed off giving him a teasing smile before tucking herself happily against his side content to laze in his embrace and watch the proceedings. The mention of her favorite silver flit though drew a snort of amusement from her. "I made the mistake of introducing him to the little handmirror I own. Besides he prefers to twine himself about my hair most times and I wasn't going to have him trying to 'decorate' me tonight." Hekate replied with a fond smile at her flit's ribbon and shiny hair weaving antics.

"As to Pauper~" Hekate left her sentence unfinished preferring to demonstrate then explain as she picked up the little gold attempting to unwind her from her neck. But the moment she began to do so the little Queen all, but latch herself in a borderline chokehold around Hekate and start up a high pitched keening fit to wake the dead until the woman left her be.

"I swear I can't get rid of her!" Hekate sighed in exasperation giving the itty bitty gold flit a good eyeridge scratch as the little creature having been woken up all, but started blatantly fawning for attention from her favorite person. "At least I was able to tempt the rest of the fair to give me a little peace and quiet, but knowing them they're up in the rafters somewhere. Just watch the moment we get food we'll have them come begging." She joked though like her wyermate her own eyes had been drawn to the knotless nameless young woman and the rather large crowd she was starting to gather about her and Bereck. Still she doubted the somewhat lovably grouchy healer would be tolerating her if she was someone they needed to worry about.

Lanterneth replied to Cepheith, preening under the praise and glazed at her chosen. She gave a soft snort at the idea and leaned against her partner's leg.

Ugh, no sex, no alcohol. V'ail made a face and leaned down, stroking over the bright red stripe across Lan's otherwise pale rose head. 'I'll live.' A turn maybe two and then back to normal. 'We should probably go and speak to some other people. Meet your siblings. Talk to the healers.'

Lan questioned, glancing around and eyed the tables.

R'an couldn't help but blush when he heard the rules. Particularly the first rule. He had never been very... sexual. Sure he wasn't a virgin and it was expected of him at his age not to be. But he had never felt all that comfortable talking about it outloud.

'Well that puts a damper on some things.' Syriacuth's voice sounded in his head and R'an looked down at the young dragon. 'How do you even know what sex is?' The dragon shook his wings in a shrug. 'You do so I do.' That made R'an blush more and he hid it by grabbing a cup of Klah from the tables and taking a drink. 'We...we should talk to some of the other Weyrlings. And find our roommates.'

'They already know us, let's look at the others... I want to meet the crimson, my sister is pretty.' Syriacuth said, taking a step towards Lanterneth and V'ail. R'an looked where his dragon was headed and walked over as well. It took R'an a moment to actually think of something to say before he spoke, "Hello there, Congradulations on impressing such a beautiful Crimson." He said abit stiffly to V'ail while Syriacuth bowed his head some to the young red dragon. 'Hello, I'm Syriacuth.'

[Natai]

"I'm used to more dancing," Natai murmured in something of a dry voice with Bereck's description of a Gather/Feast. Her eyes kept going down to the tiny dragons by their feet, somewhat delighted still with the sight of the little ones. Iachixth had been larger than they at hatching, large enough to get onto her table with the assistance of a chair. Such small dragons just begged to be scooped up and cuddled, save for the fact they weren't puppies nor her bondmate. C'ross' words had her eyes snapping right up, eyebrows up and her head shaking. "Oh, I'm sorry, I never meant to insinuate - but I can see how it'd sound, I'm sorry. I just meant to offer up what I knew on one of them. If it helps any, all I know about anything is what I've read in scrolls and books. Even that's a little fuzzy. But... no, no alcohol. I don't know if it'd be an excellent idea. With my luck, I'd trip over my own sandals."

Oh yes! Iachixth chirped to Cepheith, pleased to have been spoken to. We are very well and she is in bright clothes like us. Our hides! That was a very nice speech yours did, I liked it.

Natai paused, looking up to listen. Narisa sounded firm in her convictions, the rules that the Weyrlingmaster and Bereck informed her off. A portion of it had her flinching somewhat, muttering "Why does it all come back to sex?" under her breath, uncomfortable with the entire situation. Of course nothing physical when an infant roosted in ones brain, she knew that now, but after having more than one person hammer home the importance of eggs and not having them, what came with it... nope, nope. She caught Narisa's scanning eyes once she'd finished though, waving a little with happiness that matched her smile.

Z'fer caught her eyes when she dropped her gaze from Narisa for another glance around. Her eyes narrowed in surprise at his lazy stare, followed by that of his female companion. She nodded once in way of quiet greeting and looked away.

"Who's the one with the hair?" Natai nodded towards Z'fer and Hekate, slim frame shifting slightly behind C'ross to use him as something of a meat shield. It wasn't that she disliked the new people; it was the being watched from a distance that made her want to duck a bit. "Do we know him?"

Iachixth?

Cepheith! When would be a goodish time for NataiMine to talk to Yours? Yours is making speeches and might be too busy to talk. Is there anything else?

At the unknown girl shifting behind C'ross Hekate couldn't help, but laugh flashing the clearly shy young woman one of her more brilliant little mischievous smiles and offering her a wave. Really she hadn't thought her gaze or that of her weyrmates would be so worrisome to the young woman to urge her into hiding. Still it didn't do to embarrass complete strangers and she was likely somebodies family member or guest if she was here without knots or a baby dragon at her feet.

After all it was not Hekate's intention to unnerve people, but she tended to do so somewhat unintentionally. At least she didn't have Devith looming nearby. It was so hard ot have a decent conversation with people stammering up at the giant silver devil of a dragon.

Kh'men nodded to the man who spoke to him. So they had just missed the pair. Not a big deal. He looked around at the others and nodded to them as well. "Thank you, sir. I won't interrupt her or Phasianth. We ate while the speech went on before deciding to meet some of the others. Hopefully, we shall get along well. Or as well as two strangers can get along."

He looked down at Maicoth. The brown was completely uninterested in his siblings at the moment but was intensely focused on the healer and other woman that he had never seen before nor he doubted would have the chance to met.

I think. I want to meet my brown brother. It is interesting that you say he came after me. The brown bobbed his head and then began to walk away from the entire group.

V'ail paused turning and then grinned, recognizing the other, and without a thought replied with, "You're the one that impressed the mauler." He chuckled, easily smiling and nodded. "Thank you, her name is Lanterneth but Lan is just so much easier. She still hasn't warmed up to it yet." She would, eventually. "Really, don't bow when I'm parading around in makeup, so formal." V'ail teased, gently poking at the stiff language and amused at the little blue's bow to his lady.

Lanterneth rumbled and snorted slightly.

'Yup.'

She questioned, eyes slightly tingled with hunger red.

R'an blushed just a bit. "Sorry, I've never been so good at these...things." He chuckled abit at the mauler, "Yes, he was kind of...excited to meet me I guess. If he did get you, I sincerely apologize." He glanced down at his little blue as Syriacuth tilted his head at the Crimson.

'I would be happy to escort you there,' The dragon seemed to smile, or maybe it was the beginning of a hiss and started to lead the little lady towards the tables, almost ignoring his rider. R'an chuckled alittle. "It appears my dragon will do anything for a lady." He looked up at V'ail. "Better follow them huh? By the way I'm Roan, err well I guess R'an now. And that was Syriacuth though I guess he didn't want to stay and introduce himself."

Z'fer

He rolled his eyes. "Been there. Done that. Not interested." Z'fer eyed the little screechy gold warily, his envy lessening just the littlest bit. "All I know is I can't touch you without risking my fingers, and I'm surprised Klah isn't already wing deep in that roast over there."

Z'fer twitched his chin back to Natai as she acknowledged his attention. "You've spent time with the Masterhealer right?" He leaned down towards Hekate, lowering his voice. Not that it was necessary with the distance and crowd. "Who's that girl with him?" Hopefully Hekate wouldn't take it the wrong way. It was just something in the back of his mind was sure that he should know who she was and he was positive he'd never seen her before.
