Couldn't sugarcoat it could he? In the face of his blunt question she put her hands to her waist, flicking her head back to move her red curls from her face. "Nope." Another straightforward answer. It was all in attempt to get him to finally leave her alone. "It's me. I could either hate me for being me, or accept it. Pae are concerned with how they look and if they're liked, and change themselves to suit the pae around them. Not me." Sure, she didn't like being a freak. But even if she had the choice to magically become normal, she wouldn't do it. When he spoke of his home...well. That made sense. It oddly softened her a little, and her hands fell from her waist as she shrugged. "I'm not confident in my ability to beat you. I'm aware that I would lose in a fight. But I don't want to be walked on, and will defend myself. I'd rather lose than not try." She turned her head to look at the sky he had been so focused on throughout their conversation. "Oh...and nice place." Most pae would apologize for the intrusion...That was as close as the naiad was going to get from her.

((dawww, she actually spoke without venom dripping from her fangs. So sweet sweatdrop ))

Hate me for being me?

What was her focus on appearances?

It was perhaps typical adolescent behavior, but Okeanos found it more curious than anything, tilting his head as he listened to her speak. He, personally, had no real significant concern about appearances. They were things that did not even pass his mind in the long run, more concerned about seeing what Pae'il did than observing how they looked when the sun beat down on them like a roasting fire. He felt the way it made his skin bake, but he preferred it, almost, not truly dried out but rather loving the breeze that mixed in from the seas, a watery sensation that washed over him like a downpour...

She admitted being aware she would lose, and yet she persisted. Was it a weird yearning for attention that she had supposedly pegged on Okeanos? Perhaps the adolescent was projecting, so starved that she would even tolerate, although she actively pretended she did not, his continued antics in an attempt to see what the dolphin would do. He pondered this, letting it wash over his brain, but it was gone in a split second with the way his fingers traced over the shining sun in the distance once again.

"The lagoon is the clearest and the quietest." That might have been a thankful response, but it was hard to say if Okeanos was capable of such things, or if he knew what they meant. He was both socially in tune and socially inept all at once, unable to properly navigate through the expected cues and yet captivating enough to--

His eyes snapped towards her. "You stress appearance. Do you think you are strange? Green eyes, you are truly green, for you have not see the most strange. Do you know there is a pae with a heart that doesn't beat?"

He tilted his head, staring out into the distance.

"I wonder if pushing him into the water would cause a spark."

Amusing how the off-balance guy speaking steady seems to be making her steadier too. XD

"Of course I think I'm strange. But even if you got rid of my shamrock and feelers, I'd still be strange." The thought of a pae whose heart didn't beat was interesting. How did they...she let go of that train of thought. Unlike the naiad who often donned a faraway look, Cressida didn't let her mind wander in the middle of a conversation. "Appearance is just what most notice first about me. It's an easy thing for pae to grasp." Because she was an odd pae. The thought flicked the memory of her viciously stabbing the deer in the throat, warm blood spilling over her body. She had a dark side to her, still reigned in by her youth. At the next remark, her green eyes flicked down to try and find the pae he obviously was talking about. "Shame you're stuck up here and can't test it." She spoke dryly, shaking her head.

((I do believe this is the longest conversation she's ever had with a non-family member. If he wasn't such an oddball, I doubt that would happen because of her prickly nature XD ))

It was, perhaps, the oddest thing she had said to him that she thought her antennae and tail were a reason that she was so obviously strange, and perhaps that showed in the way his eyes visibly narrowed when she made that remark. His face became stony again, though, in all due time, observant as it ever was.

He took a moment, but then he spoke a vaguely amused, somewhat smug, "Your antennae do not make you strange, and your tail is just a slightly different shape. Have you not seen a single fae, or fae descendent? They all have antennae." It was true; fae were naturally born with the antennae on their heads. He did not understand what she found so unusual. If anything, her antennae were a bit more interesting, will those leaves on the end instead of those rounded ends...

Okeanos' mind was never quite present in the full conversation, it seemed, its tenuous grasp always losing grip before holding on tightly once again, brain pondering how the sun was shaped before it pondered her strange words.

He paused, turning towards her. "Appearance is easy to grasp, green eyes, but I do not think as many people care for yours as you think. Perhaps you should speak to one of the strange watery hybrids I sometimes see in our waters. Some cannot form legs. I wonder how they deal with the various habits of land pae?"

He smirked.

"Probably with great difficulty, like a man with no heartbeat in water."

Tartara Seabreeze
XD Okeanos is definitely odd, that's for sure.

"I'm a pure-blood demonic. No fae could possibly..." Wait...that would make sense. Junior and Shageki were the spitting image of her parents, while as she hardly looked like either of them. Perhaps she was part fae? Still, it didn't explain her leafy tail. But maybe the male was onto something. "Perhaps..." She spoke thoughtfully, looking down at the naiads below. The pae she had seen before her disappearance had all been normal, but apparently there were pae just as odd as herself. After three seasons of being away, had the island become more diverse? "Cressida." The emerald pae suddenly spoke, her voice soft as she still didn't look at the male. "Though I don't mind green eyes."

Why did she cut herself off? Okeanos blinked, wondering why her soft voice which had been so insistent and constant before would suddenly cut off at the mention of fae. Did she know any fae? Perhaps that made her realize that she was not as "odd" as she thought. Even if she was not, having a pair of antennae was nothing near odd...

He had seen plenty of odd, and while she was strange, persistent in her insistence in sticking around and very upset even at the slightest hint of a touch, oddly quick to snap and even quicker to pretend she was capable of holding a finger to him, and then slow to admit she hadn't a chance, she was not physically strange. She was strange in the way that all adolescents were strange, still in the bully stage and needing to grow up.

He had been a bully then, but not anymore, for he understood the intricacies of the Pae'il mind and how to play with them, how to explore them and poke the very things that would set another off, and just the thought of that level of skill brought a slow grin to his face, almost forgetting that the green-eyed green demon was next to him and still speaking.

It was a name that brought his name out of the fog, his mind filing it though not necessarily verbally assigning it. "Okay, Green Eyes." It seemed that he had settled on what she would be, glancing over to the green eyes that he referred to, on a green face with green antennae and a green tail.

She was green, just like her body.

"Okeanos."

His response was simple, one-worded, not necessarily a sign of trust but rather a sign that one name deserved another, an even exchange as opposed to uneven.

He wondered, though, when she would decide it was time to take her leave. Okeanos' attention was jumping a bit more, eyes elsewhere and mind in another location altogether.

If the female knew half of what went on in the males mind, her current soft demeanor would shift back to a prickly attack in an instant. But as it was, the naiad got to enjoy a glimpse of a side to Cressida seldom shown to anyone. For the second time in his presence she smiled, and then turned her eyes to the male. Okeanos. Strange name for a strange pae. Did she still believe he was a bat-crazy, impolite, nuisance? Of course. But she hated him a little less than she had when he first had intruded on her. Or really, when she had intruded on him. The threat of the male had slipped away, and thus she felt no need to defend herself. It seemed that answering his questions head on had actually worked. "It's been...'fun'." Brushing a golden hand across her red curls, she turned to finally depart.

Was that a smile, he spied? Something in him was amused, though it didn't show on his stonier expression. It was oddly easy to get on a person's good side, even when they were determined it would not be so.

He said nothing to that, though, and simply nodded when she suggested she was going to leave. It seemed that when he had thought about her continued presence, he should have known she would be taking her exit shortly. That was good enough for Okeanos, who wanted the peacefulness of the cliff back, perhaps even to line up a dive into the lagoon waters down below.

Okeanos would need to refresh his skin eventually, no matter how wet the air was ... a disadvantage in his form.

"Mm. Another time, Green Eyes."

And then he sat down on the edge of the cliff, taking his spot back to himself.
