"Even once upon a time is a little fun. Maybe that's a little hipster of me, though." she shrugged again, still smiling. Settling into the seat with a small 'thank you' for his help, Angeline leaned onto the table, idly curling her hair between her fingers as he listed the menu off.
"Anything spicy? Pick something spicy at random and surprise me." she suggested with a small laugh. "Otherwise, just surprise me. I like surprises...sometimes."

"Alright, the combo it is," he said, putting the paper down. "Well, okay, maybe from your point of view it's cool--but honest t'Jack I'm glad we're not famous reapers anymore. We got this massive jackin' ugly beast of a mansion outside a reaper town--it's fallin' down, which only makes it a little bit better lookin' than it must have been originally. There's all these turrets--like spears stickin' up in the sky at strange places, just--fugly," he said. "And had we still been famous I woulda had to have LIVED there."
Which apparently was abhorrent and wrong in his eyes.

He likely would have laughed at the mental image she had in her head from his description - based solely on childhood mental images and a very limited mental vocabulary. "Sounds like it would be pretty mouldy smelling now." she scratched the side of her nose as she spoke.
"If you're not living there, where are you living?"

"School, now," he said. "I grew up in a city a few days from now, on a street called Croost--that's where I learned most of the skills I got now, but then I got accepted into Amity, packed my stuff and moved here. Turns out my Pop moved here around then, he's got an old warehouse that he's turnin' into a bike shop, and my Gramps, he already lives here--he's got a casino not too far from here."
He nodded at the waitress and ordered for them, only asking what she wanted to drink. Then he glanced at the band. The singer was finally stepping up to the mic.

"Sounds pretty fun to go on a little adventure like that. Moving farther than...probably a few streets from here, actually." she couldn't really tell where they were with the sounds. "Still, it all sounds pretty adventurous to me. I've lived a pretty safe life myself. My mother runs a shelter for the," she held up her fingers and quotated them, "'Newly Dead'. Ghosts and stuff. So that's about all the adventure I've ever had."
She tapped her fingers idly on the table, unsure what else to do - after all, she couldn't exactly watch the stage to see what was happening.

Life Without You, Roch thought as the reaper started singing. One of Bones' favorite songs. But abruptly, blankly, he realized that maybe bringing a teenage ghoul to an old fashioned blues concert wasn't that bright. Amphi had been big on pop music and Johnny Danger and-- Well, who's to say Angeline wasn't, as well? He inwardly groaned, realizing his mistake.

If he was worrying about her taste in music, it was probably not as complicated as was being built up in his head - Angeline seemed content to just close her eyes and sway her head from side to side with the flow of the guitars.
"Sounds nice." she murmured, clearly not bothered at all by his taste in music-choices. Blues? Rock? She didn't really care about genres - it was all on the ears, really. Hard to like a band for being pretty when she couldn't see it, after all.

He relaxed at that, letting out a breath of relief. "Thank Jack," he said. "For a moment I realized I'm bringin' a teenage ghoul t'somethin' other than Johnny Danger pop music--my gh--my ex ghoulfriend, she liked that pop stuff the best. Sure she woulda come, but--" He shrugged, then realized she couldn't see it. "I dunno, it was just one of those things."
Wait--he'd just talked about his ex on a date. That was a serious screw up, he realized.

Angeline's brows furrowed together in confusion: "Who's Johnny Danger?" she asked honestly. "Is he someone that's actually worth listening to, or is he one of those artists that's nicer to....look at? Because I know a lot of ghouls like to look at their music instead of actually listening to it." She trailed off a bit, giving him a curious expression as he spoke about his ex.
It sounded like they had a few little differences - or a lot if they were broken up now. But she made a point to not comment on it, skirting around it instead. Avoiding it like the penny in the air.

"Honestly? He's passable. He's got a good voice--its his guitar I got the most issues with--well, his guitar, his personality, his skinny a** jeans, and his sub-par guitar playin' skills," Roch said, clearly disliking the guy for several reasons. "Four chords. He knows all of four chords."
He snorted, shaking his head and letting out a laugh. "Okay, enough rockstar bashin'," he said. "I was gonna say--before the song, aren't you on an adventure now?"

"Well, it's really a matter of how you play those four chords, I'd think." she suggested. "Quality over quantity. Not to say you can't have a lot of nice things, but making the most of what you have is a good skill to have too..." Still, she smiled a bit as he went on with his clear distaste for the man in question. Or boy. Whichever he was.
She leaned back in her seat at his suggestion that she was on an adventure currently. "I dunno. It's a little bit of an adventure, I guess. With the right perspective."

He gave her a wry look--one that she couldn't see. Then he pouted, because she was so LOGICAL in her defense of JD, and it was hard to argue the logical part--even if he wanted to. Except he did say--"Y'know, he would have never been able t'play what we just listened to."
He could. But that would make him look like he was bragging. "Okay... how is bein' in a strange place, meetin' all new people, and learnin' t'live on your own not an adventure?" he asked her. "Y'made a friend in my lil sister, that's for sure--she practically threatened t'neuter me if I made a mistake tonight. She's real fond of you."

She nodded once at his comeback. "Touche. Either way I'd have to judge him once I met him, I guess. And that's not going to happen, so.." she shrugged. Clearly someone had very little knowledge of who went to Amityville.
Roch's comment about Terra actually prompted laughter. "She... actually did that? That's kind of adorable, actually." she admitted. "I'm sure you would have been nice to me even without such a threat though." she leaned her chin into her palm with a small sigh.
"Well, I guess it's not the kind of thing I have in mind when I think of an adventure off the bat."

"Er... well... yeah, maybe y'won't, if you're lucky," he said. JD did tend to skip classes a lot. "And yeah, she's cute--don't tell her I told you that, though," he said. "She's already got me doin' all sorts of stuff with a jackin' please," he muttered, pouting more. "She even wrecked my bike--an' got away with it." He sighed, shaking his head before laughing.
"But yeah, I ain't in the habit of bein' a bad date--er--actually, seriously, would anyone confess to bein' one?" he asked her. "Even the worst date in the world's gonna say 'sure, I wouldn't do that!'"

"True. That's very true. But if you're purposely being a bad date....." Angeline made a face, leaning further onto her arm and looking a bit tense about that. "Shoot, there are a lot of things that could go wrong there. But I'll just hope you're not awful like that." She smiled.
"You had a bike? That must have been fun. I think feeling the air rush by you would be pretty exciting."
