Charli smiled, his happiness and quiet resolve carrying to Danny. "I am your Bonded, young one." He said, sending her images of his whole life, from birth, to beaten cruelly, to near death, to coming to the Isle. Up to meeting Maera as a foal, and staying with her as she grew, to meeting Aila, and those he had tried to Choose before, to this very moment, right here, and then a made up image of her in front of him as he bent his massive head down to touch her head with his nose. i]"I am yours and you are mine. Never are we to part.' With Charli's memories also came what he knew of Aila. Of both that walked away from her. First a human crossdresser that Aila healed back to health, that proclaimed love and then walked away, and then the noble half-Skh'et woman who seemed to have needed love as much as Aila, but who just disappeared one morning. "My memories are yours. My pain is yours. And yours is mine. Together we share the burdens."
Maera stopped and turned to look at Charli, causing Aila nearly to fall off as she studied the two, the Skh'et and the Draft, who were obviously in the middle of something. Realization dawned on Maera and Aila at the same time. Aila was happy for Charli, but also a tad bit concerned due to him being rejected before and confused because the last one he had tried to Choose had rejected both him and Aila's love.

Danny's eyes flew open in her surprise. Bonded? He was her Bonded? She hesitated for a brief moment, an instinct that she'd developed long ago. But she didn't reject it. Her eyes slide closed again, handing over her own memories to exchange. Her home reduced to charcoal, the corpses of her family half-buried in ash or left with swords in them from where the royal soldiers stopped their escape. The red brand in the middle of her back that still ached, the terror it represented in her and the other six children that it marked. Her adventures with Dawn, the eldest of the seven. Hiding her gender, hiding everything about herself. Just trying to survive the past that haunted her.
Letting someone else see that was surprisingly... burden-lifting. Although she'd never been Chosen before, she seemed to understand his words as an oath and didn't interrupt. Never parting, sharing burdens...

Aila watched as the emotions crossed Danny's face, unable to tear her eyes away from the sight. Was that what she had looked like when Maera, Daria, and Jondayla had Choose her? She wasn't sure... But what she did know, was that this person in front of her was absolutely stunning, and not in the materialistic way either. It was at that moment that Aila could see her heart, and the feeling she felt afterwards was what scared her. It far surpassed the attraction she had felt for Fionna and Acacia. Her heart jumped and she closed her eyes, willing herself to abandon these feelings, but knowing that she was asking the impossible to happen. She felt Maera brush the back of her conscious and gave a small sigh as the draft mare helped ease the ache in her chest.
Charli took half of Danny's burdens and lifted them off her shoulders and onto himself, taking her worries and sending her silent, but sweet care instead to fill its place. ]"I love you, Little One."

Even taking half of Charli's burdens couldn't taint the relief of having half of her own removed. Her neverending smile didn't falter, but it didn't prevent the tears from rolling down her face. Among the mental exchange, something was unearthed: an old memory of a smiling man calling out a name. No. It wasn't just a name, and it wasn't just a man. It was her father calling out her name, a name she'd long since forgotten. "Charli... thank you."

Charli gave out a low hum, his whole body thrumming with the sound. Do not thank me, my Mirjana." He said softly as he retreated into his own mind, just enough so that she didn't feel the overwhelming pressure of his being.

"Why not? You've made me happy." Much happier than she thought she could be. "You helped me remember... something important that I forgot..." Mirjana. Her birth name. A name that should've never left her memory, but was buried under her countless false identities. "You found me."

TIMESKEEIIIPPPERSSSS
Maera and Charli slept just outside the small grove of trees where Aila and Danny were sleeping. A low fire lay on the other side of the women, and the two drafts provided a nice wind break, keeping the girls warm.
Aila, however, was safe, soft and warm as she, unconsciously, cuddled up to Danny's back. Her warm breath washed over Danny's back as she slept deeply and soundly for the first time in a long time.

Aila's warm breath sent shivered up Danny's spine, eventually enough to make her roll over. One arm stayed tucked close to her, but the other instinctively draped itself over her companion. Her eyelids flickered open for a moment, watching Aila unconsciously cuddling closer. A sleepy smile lit her face for a moment before she slipped back into unconsciousness herself. Aila was warm... and that warmth was fending off her nightmares.

Morning dawned and Aila woke up with the birds, her eyes cracking slowly, then shooting open as she froze, looking at the girl in front of her. Her green eyes darted around before she slowly crept backwards until she was out from under Danny's arm, before she sat up and shot into the little grove of trees, mentally screaming, all the while she tried to stay silent and not wake up the others. "Oh dear merciful lord, what happened. Why did I do that? I don't need to be getting close to her, consciously or unconsciously. What if she woke up and saw? What if she thinks that I actually like her? I mean... well.. I do like her, but no! I can't risk it,. not my heart. not again... Would it be worth it? She seems sweet, real sweet, but so did the others, would she be the same.., or different... Is she worth trying? Can your heart stand another risk? Ugh! Pull yourself together Aila, and quit actin' like a teenage fool again."

Danny woke up a little while later, no longer protected by Aila's warmth from her nightmares. She sat up, thankful her throat closed up before she had the chance to scream. Her gaze instinctively searched her surroundings, frowning when she realized Aila's absence. She quietly crept through the trees, ears picking up her voice before she saw her. The Skh'et stayed out of sight, frowning as she listened to the woman's monologue. Sighing, she went back to where Maera and Charli were, leaning against the latter's side as she pulled her instrument case into her lap. She opened it up and pulled out the guitar inside, instinctively setting the case pointing outwards as if someone would come along and put some coins in it. Then she started to play and sing, her voice still just as masculine as it was when she spoke. When was it that she created this melody? It was a long time ago... maybe even before she and the other Sins split up. Or maybe it was just her imagination... Either way, it accurately described her feelings at the moment. (( She's singing this song. ))

Aila's rant only ended when she heard the quiet singing and playing of a guitar. Rubbing her face, she stood and dusted off her dirty pants, before heading back towards the others. As she approached she saw the Skh'et sitting against Charli and playing a stringed instrument. Aila watched for a moment before she went and sat down beside the little bunny woman. "That's really good..." She said roughly after Danny finished her song.
Maera and Charli were awake, but stayed silent as they listened around at the sounds around them.

Danny was so lost in her song that she almost didn't notice Aila until she spoke. "Thanks." She idly strummed the strings, sighing quietly. "It's one of the only ones I still feel comfortable singing... I just don't have the voice for the others anymore." She no longer had a feminine voice, and the songs just sounded strange with her masculine one.
Although she appeared calm and well, upbeat, inside she was panicking. Charli, what do I do? Their relationship was already awkward, but... Danny wanted it to work out. Badly. What did she say? What did she do?

Be yourself. Give her a reason to try and want to try." Charli responded, not moving, and making it seem like nothing had happened.
Aila sighed and motioned for the guitar. "May I?" She inquired, wanting to see if Danny knew a song she had found about when she was young.

Danny blinked and nodded, carefully handing over the guitar. I don't know how... Whatever I do will make me seem like them. Or a man. She was a little surprised that Aila had never questioned it. Manga had called her Danielle, but...

Aila took the guitar and began to strum, humming softly until she got the tune perfect. Her voice took on a bit of a husky tone as she began to form the words of the song. After she finished, she sat in silence for a moment before handing the guitar back and wiping her eyes. This is the song she sang
