Melvin sat with focused interest at the long, winding timeline and various incidents and missions that both helped rush a relationship from just interest to that of desperation, to a '******** it' mindset that anything went because being on this island and near death at every turn had altered everyone's mindset on how relationships worked. He got it. The idea of being away from those you loved, sexual frustration at feeling like you were in a prison, and only having a very limited group of people to select from - most of which you wanted to punch more than touch. Jordan made it all sound very sweet, but in the end, neither of the three had wanted to be grown up about the relationship and, if off this island, hurt anyone's feelings. This in turn led them dating each other and making it work, though Melvin doubted that if they were off the island it would have. When there were more people and social pressures, someone would have broken it off. It was just lucky for the three that they decided not to play the bad guy and choose that. The Lifer didn't know Harrison well enough, but Rep was too sensitive to pick, and Jordan seemed too good to make anyone feel bad. In the end, they created a perfect, gay, Hallmark concoction that led to whatever the hell they wanted to call their relationship.
It was a nice story though, and provided a lot of insight.
"I'm never sorry to ask. Does explain why the Lifer department has a side project about eggnog that keeps blowing up every so often. I guess the liked the results of the mistletoe." Probably the only way most of those techs were going to get any action.
He sipped his coffee. "So without privacy, lots of death panic, and no one wanting to be the bad guy, you three wind up engaged. I never knew the full story. I talk to Rep a lot, but while he's possessive of you two, he never talks much aside from marking you both as his. That or winding up punching people at random for just speaking with you." He smiled at Ro who had remained quiet. Considering Ro had never fully denied his feelings for Jordan other than he had no chance, Melvin wondered if talking about the guys that gave Ro no chance just pissed him off or left him bitter.
"Must be exhausting dating such a big baby. Harrison seemed level-headed enough to even it out I guess and not needing your attendance. I'm taking it you and Harrison mellow out Rep?" He asked, still pressing on.
He glanced over at Ro. "What about you, Ro? We've all nearly died a few times already. Any budding questions for anyone here you've been trying to figure out?"

Jordan raised an eyebrow. "Avoid the eggnog, check."
The other eyebrow went up at the next comment. "You asked how we got together, not how we got engaged. That part was at Christmas, when we'd been together some seven months. You make it sound like it was some kind of panicky, rushed thing."
He hadn't known that Rep didn't talk about them; he filed that knowledge away for future reference. "He's mellowed out," he said in response to the question. "I think it's more like he needed to know that someone would be there and not get driven off."
He leaned forward, cradling the cup between his hands and resting his elbows on his knees, looking to Ro as Melvin turned the conversation towards the other man. He'd get nosy at Melvin in a minute.

"I think Rep mellows out if you don't give him trouble... he had a few times around me he seemed pretty on the level. But if you hit one of his triggers well, he gets upset. With an axe. A very big axe." His shoulder was proof.
"What? What do you mean burning questions and figuring stuff out? I don't need to figure anything out..." Defensive much? Yes.

"I never have any problems with axes when I push his triggers." Melvin said with a smile, continuing to sip his coffee with a sort of easy air before looking back at Ro. "Oh? So you're sure of yourself. Then who are you so sure that you like then if you have everything figured out?"

"Wait wait wait, so this is about who I -like- on the Island?" He huffed a bit, "Nevada okay? She's another mist and I like her. And I well...." He huffed, "It's none of you're damn business who else I like beyond that..."

Melvin looked over at Jordan. "I don't dip into the crazy that is this island." He told him with a very flat tone.
He then resumed looking over at Ro. "There is a person beyond that? Starting to feel bad for this Nevada girl, or maybe you want to tango with two like Jordan here." He said, gesturing to the other man. Considering everyone had not bothered to bring up a three-marriage and were all for it, it probably was being publicly viewed as A-OK to date many people at once. Usually that would be called cheating - but not here. This island - crazy dippin in crazy.

"I save those for leave, and I don't dally around with questioning when I do." He took another sip of his coffee.
When Ro responded, Melvin turned to look at him. "You want to screw Rep?!" This had Melvin looking but surprised and highly amused. "The guy who nearly killed you, you have the hots for? Watch it, Jordan. Someone wants into your sandwich, ey Whole Wheat?" He said, teasing Ro.

"Definitely cold," Jordan said, shaking his head at Melvin.
His expression when Ro admitted his thoughts was somewhere between sympathetic and amused. "Hey, dude, he's been really classy about it," he defended Ro. "After all that mess, it could've been way more awkward than it actually was, and he hasn't actually tried hitting on anyone taken."

"Melvin. I'm going to hit you with this mug if you don't shut up..." he seemed rather sulky and depressed now. "Whole wheat? Melvin you little... AUGH!" he tossed his now empty mug aside. "You're an a** you know that?"
He looked at Jordan, then the wall again, "I wouldn't do that, to anyone, you're my friend... and I thought Bix was with Ceres and then they did become a thing and... I'm not some p***k who would just... hit on people like that..."
Reality was he just didn't know how to hit on people.

Melvin winced as the mug shattered and then looked at the floor. "You know you're going to have to clean that up." It was a good thing he didn't waste coffee. "Relax. I'm teasing. Pretty late in the game to be hitting on those two anyways, and I don't think I've met Ceres. Was just wondering why you'd be into Rep is all. I didn't have him pegged as your type considering you liked Jordan who a far extreme in the other direction." He leaned back setting his now empty mug down.
"So ...Nevada. How's that going?" He continued.

"There's a dustpan in the closet. I got this." Jordan got up and went to get the item in question, then attended to the broken mug as long as he was up. ""I know you're not, don't worry, dude."
He angled an eyebrow at Melvin. "So, all those messy emotional attachments aside, what's your type? Out of curiosity."

Roland sat arms crossed looking irritable all the while, teasing or not he kept stuff like this personal for a reason. Having Sylvia know the truth and nag him about it was bad enough to start. "It's still none of your business why I like him or anyone Melvin..." He scoffed, "So I can't like Rep, but Jordan and Rep is fine, it's still opposite ends Melvin."
He shrugged at the Nevada comment, "I think she has feelings for Otto..."
