To think, the biggest scare Curtsi got was having his model ships shudder precariously on their shelves, threatening to spill over and shatter when the quake hit. They had been far enough from the epicenter to be relatively unaffected, and a large part of him had wanted to keep it that way. It was a guilty thought when his lusus was all about civic duty! and even his twin had seemed... oddly enthusiastic about going into the city and helping out, so there they were in New Hemisect City proper, officials and citizens alike hustling about like any other downtown day—aside from all the rubble strewn about and booths demanding attention, anyway. The scene was enough to make the disaster too real, to make the guilty thought of indifference even guiltier, so Curtsi resolved to be as helpful as he could, well, muster enough courage to be.

Tessie, being more humpbeast despite her duckmom nickname, had her back piled with supplies to bring to the P.P.S. Curtsi stuck close, overwhelmed by the activity around, but kept his eyes peeled for any relief workers they could approach. It seemed everyone was busy, save for a certain other half. As if there wasn't enough chaos in the city, he was only too aware of how hyped up his twin seemed. There had to be a catch as to why she seemed so eager to help in NHC, and although he certainly wouldn't voice the suspicions aloud just yet, the look on his face—stern frown, furrowed brow, accusing look he had mastered—said it all. She was up to something, and in fact, "Why did you bring that with you?" the wooden sword was completely inappropriate, really.

Oddly enthusiastic indeed! It was rare for someone like Trusci to seem so... interested in the well being of other trolls, especially given the fact that she had been nothing but mad at the new watch system that had been implemented. If she had it her way, she'd be running around with the other trolls instead of helping, just like those crumpled pieces of paper had said! It sounded like those trolls were having fun, and even just by walking through the crowds she could tell that not everyone was intent on helping. Still, this was a chance she couldn't let slip by; she knew the amiable nature of her lusus well, and also knew that she'd be granted access into the destroyed world if she brought up the notion of helping; here they were! Her wide eyes gleaned over the many booths for a moment, wondering just how successful they were being with their endeavors. A mischievous side of her wanted to mess with them, but she didn't want to chance it while she was so close to Duckmom.

Instead, she hops over a nasty crack in the pavement with a childish glee, a satchel (in the same exuberant yellow as her scarf and spats) that was brought just for the occasion swung at her side, heavy with various objects. She doesn't mind, thinking of the city instead; in it's destroyed state, NHC would surely make for a perfect place to play! Dangerous and thrilling; the girl is pulled from her thoughts when her twin speaks up, the aforementioned sword held firmly in her hand, "You never know when you need to defend yourself, think Curtsi!" she said, adding in an extra sigh for effect at the end, "Here, look! I brought yours too!" a quick shuffle, she plucks a similar sword from her satchel, presenting it to her twin as she matches his stern stare with her energetic grin. He'd better accept it; she was doing him a favor here, hauling his stuff around! Besides, she noticed how nervous her twin seemed; the sword oughta' make him feel braver, at least, it made her feel a little braver...

Besides the point, she knew he knew something was up, and that was alright; he usually did catch onto her antics, but the fact was he rarely was able to stop them. Looking back over the wreckage, she never really had any intentions of helping; think about it—with all of this going on, it was obviously up to her to report on the scene! She could only imagine what sort of controversial things she would be able to dig up, especially after the BIGSIS fiasco; it was like this disaster was made for her. She could imagine the headlines now, trolls lines in shackles, justice brought down by her own penmanship.

Or, perhaps that was a little too farfetched, for now. Someday she'd be in the spotlight--no, she would make the spotlight from her own glimmering beacon of truth. Something to that effect, anyway.

Mmm. Gathering supplies. A less than glamorous route to glory, but a safe one. It would probably be easy, too, considering he had to haul Pops around. The lusus looked boredly up at the two, taking a moment to scratch behind an ear with one of his legs.

"Yes. I suppose gathering supplies would be a good idea! You seem to know what you're doing," Aandes looked the redblood up and down. This should be a cinch if the lowblood was able to pull his own weight. Unfortunately, he looked a little worse for wear. That fashion -- eck... He had to give him some credit for pulling off the dirty, poverty look with some manner of style. But couldn't the guy get some shoes? Unfortunately, Aandes hadn't brought an extra pair of hightops (as he tended to do in case of a fashion emergency). He brushed off the detail, but made a mental note of it for later.

Aandes didn't want to press the lowblood on the flyers further, rubbing his nose absently to feign a lost of interest. He strutted along with Alifax, Koalapops snuffling beside him, and then--

Was he about to call him a highblood? Huh! That was unusual. At least in Four Fronds. Aandes couldn't hide a brief catlike reaction, the beginning of a smirk fading into his seemingly innocent introduction.

"My name is Aandes LaMode. It's good to make your acquaintance. And you are?"

Dictys noted the receipt, nodding in a manner ey thought most noble and gracious, although ey was rather confused as to how quickly the tealblood'd received hers. Ey hadn't gotten eirs sent to eir mobile hive yet! That was fine, though; ey'd have to be even quicker about it next time. "Well, I commend your dedication to Alternia," ey told them rather generously. How was it that they were stumbling over their own name? Landdwellers, really - some of them had no class! "Rrrrr - Ray-ahn, is it? It's my pleasure. You can head over there to get started helping the Public Protection Sector." Ey had to glance at the map ey'd nabbed before gesturing grandly towards that direction.

Ey turned back to the blueblood, who was really, ey thought, far more interesting than that silly tealblood with her familiar horns and unfamiliar symbol. And they were an excellent example of a good lowblood, too - thoughtful (about trollkind, at least), eager to please, loyal to the crown. "It really would! And New Hemisect City is one of the great hubs of Alternia - there is naturally a certain grandeur to the Old, but it can't compare in this day. And where else can skilled trolls of all colors mingle? Sure, I don't doubt that another city would have its day eventually, but - but we have a perfectly good one here! Miache? I do look forward to working with you to help rebuild New Hemisect City." (Dictys, evidently, loved the sound of eir own voice.) It was true, though - Dictys didn't expect to do much of the actual building emself. Fundraising, though, was classy, and it allowed for socialization, and for not having to walk. So ey'd stay here.

"But really - I shouldn't keep you from finding something to do! That'd be - well, that'd be horrible of me, wouldn't it?" Actually, Dictys wouldn't mind if Miache worked nearby. But ey also wouldn't mind finding someone else to socialize with - you know, it was always best to take maximum advantage of a situation. Ey grinned again at the blueblood, but ey quickly turned eir attention back to scanning the crowds for trolls who looked free.

Thankfully, just that moment there was a pair of yellowbloods in matching spats, scarf, and symbol wandering by. "Hey - you two! Have you brought spare weapons to donate?" It was really the only reason ey could think of for bringing them - trolls their age generally had lusii around still to defend them (and they did have one, although shared, unfortunately, among them - a strange amalgation of familiar beasts). "You can drop off some beetles here, first, and then I'd be glad to help you figure out where you need to be!"

"Um - well, I'm just doing as I was told, really," he said in reply. Alifax was certainly equipped well enough for the job, despite whatever story his clothing told: he FLARPed for a living, and hunted his own food! "But I think supplies would be good! I don't think - ah, maybe there's a hand-pulled four-wheel device somewhere we could maybe, er, use?" His voice rose at the end as though it was a question - but there was probably someone with a kiddie wagon or even a wheelbarrow they could use. Although he couldn't imagine the kid pushing a wheelbarrow along - well, maybe he could fetch the supplies and Alifax could push? He wasn't sure how that'd allow him to write, though.

Well, maybe they could figure out the details later. He didn't really think there'd be a wheelbarrow; the wagon was probably more likely. They were cheaper, Alifax thought, since they didn't tend to be made out of metal.

He shook himself out of his thoughts when the greenblood answered his question, though. Alifax glanced back at him, saw Aandes' strange facial expression, and turned away again, glancing at the ground. He proceeded to start as though addressing it, but turned his face back toward Aandes at the last second: "Alifax Bunsem," he answered. "Um, likewise." He gave a nervous smile and looked around the relief station. Where would those sorts of supplies be? He probably needed a map. Or to talk to the supervisor again, but that troll was clearly busy now.

Preening a bit at the completely undeserved praise from the other trolls, Regina wasn't one to actually let things like 'did I actually deserve that' to get in the way. After all, as a queen, you automatically deserved praise, just for existing. She was about to continue harping on the seadweller finding some lowbloods to help, (by force if necessary), when the little troll gave her a polite end note to their conversation and swung away to focus on others. Well, it looked as though her audience with these trolls was over. Shrugging, she turned away, her fingers dipping into the donation bowl and back into her pocket, quick enough so that anyone who had happened to see would find it hard to tell if she had in fact, given or taken something.

"Right, helpin'. I'll ... be off to do that. Laters!"

Giving another slightly idiotic looking smile, she wandered away from the table, in search of other entertainment in the crowd.

Eostre heard all the announcements, all the begging and demands for donations for the cause, but she really didn't care. BIGSIS didn't even bother her, for her hive was well secured underground and hidden from sight. Of course, she'd done her part for the PPS, finding some change in her pocket to toss at booths, though that wasn't why she'd come to New Hemisect.

She definitely wasn't going to waste her time sitting at a booth, putting on her kindly face to get trolls to help her cause, please won't you donate or help hand out water or sopor for the poor trolls caught in the quake? It made her sick to even think about it. Eostre Diazzi was here for herself, to loot the broken hivestems for treasure, and maybe take a few moments to bask in the turmoil they'd found themselves in. It's not everynight there's a tragedy such as this, and her sadistic side couldn't help but try and find a token of the pain.

She'd already stolen away in the night, deep into the broken parts of the city, where buildings had crumbled and probably killed all the inhabitants. Her looting purse, though small, would hold any real items of value she wanted to take, and her brass knuckles were once again firm in her teenaged grasp.

Seemed as good a place to start as any.

Mili continued to wander the wreckage, ears strained over the regular hub-bub for any cries or signs of help. Danger followed her at every step in the forms of loose hive siding and noxious fumes. It wasn’t long until, standing near a building that was not as stable as she thought, a chunk of the hive nailed her on the back and shoulder blade. Struggling under the weight of the rubble, she eventually became free. It was clear, though, that she could not patch herself. That left one choice…

With apprehension, Mili approached the throng of people. “Once I get in here, how am I to get out again?” she thought bitterly. Most stands had one or two trolls milling about. Thankfully the healing station was easily spotted. Shuffling to it, she placed her bag on the counter and rummaged through it until she found her whiteboard and marker. Writing made her wince, but it was the only way to communicate.

Blah blah blah blah.

So much talking going on. Abrila was finding it hard to focus on any one voice, even of the trolls that were closest to her. She did catch Dictys' request to give her name, but she decided to play deaf for a while. Then she tried her best to ignore an upstart little blueblood (though she did take a step back from him... she was beginning to feel an uneasy dislike for the younger trolls among the crowd).

Her eyes trailed over the meandering crowd as she shifted her grip on her shovel. There wasn't really anything stopping her from leaving, other than her own insecurity. The orangeblood didn't want to just... walk away and have everyone watch her. She almost wished her lusus was there to provide some cover from prying eyes.

Abrila's hollow vascular muscle sank. Where was Slothmom, anyways? She hadn't seen the beast since the quake. Not that she was worried. She was... concerned. Yeah, that was the word she would use, if anyone asked. Not that anyone would ask.

Her thoughts came back down the Alternia when the tealblood (Reiagn Miarna?) started to wander away. Great! Now she could take the opportunity to go herself. Maybe trail after the tealblood for a moment, then disappear somewhere else.

"Yeah... food... rest... find lusus... uh, then helping?" Abrila mumbled to no one in particular and shuffled away after the tealblood. Slowly. Casually. Like she wasn't following anyone at all.

Miache scrunched his nose in disdain as the orangeblood skulked away. Hmph. Lowbloods. They really had no class, he was foolish for thinking of giving one the benefit of the doubt. He truly shouldn't be so surprised to see an orangeblood unable to match the properness of the seadweller. In fact.....Dictys simply seemed to have a rather impressive air about em, something Miache could appreciate.

"I suppose so," he agreed, "however, if you're ever in the lakeside area I wouldn't be opposed to a visit." He flashed one of his rare, genuine smiles. More often than not his smiles were half-hearted or condescending, but even he had his moments. "My hive isn't difficult to find, I daresay my neighbors are simply incapable of keeping hive. Mine is, by far, the most esthetically pleasing." Of course, by that he simply meant his hive was the cleanest. The grass was perfectly manicured, windows clean....hell he even frequently washed the outside. Or....rather his lusus did, it was dangerous for such a little wriggler as he, but Miache certainly took care of grooming the rest of his hive...both inside and out.

With that he nodded to Dictys and turned to walk away. Hopefully he would have better luck with the two he had called over. Miache would hope so at least, yellowbloods DID have at least a little more class than the even lower class.

Melancholies

Their movements were quick, leaving Aprife to lament his inability to stop right in the middle of one of the large crowds to snoop. They were on a mission, though, one he knew was important to Zeffer. And really, he did get an eyeful every time they moved through areas populated by the newly homeless, or restless, or trolls trying to gather whatever they could to help the P.P.S.'s relief movement. Despite the attempts at organization, there was still an underlying chaos to it all. Still, no one bothered them, so they would hopefully be able to check up on this friend of a friend even faster and get right down to... well, to whatever it was they were gonna do. Aprife planned on butting into the lives of at least ten displaced trolls tonight. He looked pretty pleased with himself as he thought that.

It actually wasn't long before the blueblood in front of him stopped suddenly and almost seemed to perk up like an animal that had caught the scent of easy prey. 'Sarcel, huh?' Aprife threw the name into his memory, that was all he had time to do before his friend took off, and so he did in turn, jogging behind. "Hey, hi," he offered after his intro, ducking down to get probably a bit too close for the average hello. Not long ago he'd hit a pretty decent growth spurt, somehow coming out even taller than Zeffer when all when all was said and done. A side effect of the elixir incident perhaps? He wasn't sure.

"Nice to meet you, Sarcel." Despite how general a greeting it was, there was a slight edge of sleaze to it, not uncommon when dealing with Aprife for the very first time. It was a bit difficult to completely contain his unsavory interest in those he'd just met. New was exciting and different and the yellowblood was nothing if not a firm believer in all of those things. And yet... he took a little step back. This was Zeffer's friend and maybe, he thought, he should try to reign it in a little. Especially when, he tipped his head some curiously, she seemed so very nervous.

"She's fast, huh?" He had started talking even before looking back at the mohawked blueblood. "That could be useful. She coming with us?"

Following the sweater-clad troll over, Talymn was starting to have second thoughts about letting some random kid play doctormentor with his guardian, but there was something in the plain, stoic manner that the tyke exhibited that kept him from voicing his concerns. Carefully moving the overgrown insect off of the cot and onto the ground (much to said insect's displeasure as noted by a few growling chirps) to grant the kid easier access to the damaged wing, Talymn kept a strong grip on the base of the feathery plume on Buzzkilla's head and on one of the large protruding mandibles to keep the lusus from trying to take a preemptive bite. How bad would that look if a highblooded guardian started going rogue with little to no provocation? And with all the drones keeping an eye on things, Talymn would probably end up an orphan for sure. Of course, he wasn't kidding about his earlier statement either, thus he kept a rather hypercritical eye on every little detail in the dark orange blood's movements.

After a while, he actually found himself marveling at the precision and seemingly expert manner the girl conducted herself, making him wonder how often she got to practise those skills.

Oh, you got that magic touch~
...that..
.....healing.. mending.... mer-...?
Da-na-naaagh... Still can't really think o' anythin'...

He was frowning mentally at that, but his appreciation remained all the same as she finished up. Even Buzzkilla seemed to be at ease with the whole process, or maybe he was just glad it was over. Hard to tell with that guy sometimes. Committing the 'doctormentor's' orders to memory, Talymn helped his lusus climb back onto the cot before looking back down at orange blood with a warm, grateful smile.

"Yeh, juss' one more thing. What's yer name, kid?"

Relief felt warm, Sarcel realized. Warm and safe and secure; while stress was still obvious in her expression, a slight tug at her lips might of suggested a slight smile (although it was inevitably never brought to light). The world felt sluggish to the blueblood, but it also felt strangely tranquil—she wondered briefly if this was what trust felt like—but despite the sudden swirl of equilibrium, she knew that the situation was in fact very real, if only because of the cries of the lost and wandering; or perhaps it was the shotgun at her side (when had she grabbed that?) that reminded her of the dangers and severity.

Still, she remained stiff despite the relief, almost flinching when Zeffer extends his hand to her shoulder, although the initial action also does well to sooth her nerves. They were in fact both here, and she was in fact alive, and neither of them were hurt; it was a lovely fact to see and admit, and if she hadn't been smiling then, she was now, beaming with a quiet sense of gratitude for her friend, "Y-Yeah, I'm... I-I'm alright."

But then she remembers the yellowblood, eyes nervously looking over Aprife as Zeffer begins introductions. The praise catches her off guard, although she stands up a little straighter; she was pretty damn fast, wasn't she? Zeffer's enthusiasm was a little contagious, especially given the fact she was already hyped up on adrenaline. Of course, she still wasn't one for close contact (especially with strangers) and so she shied away from Aprife when he leans down. The 'hello' response ended up caught in her throat, so she merely nods; Sarcel didn't really do well with taller trolls, but then again everyone was taller than her.

She finds her voice when he backs off again, finally exhaling—had she been holding her breath?—trying her damnedest to match eye contact. Sir would of slapped her, acting so subordinate in front of a lowblood, but she had to remind herself that Sir wasn't here. It was better if she didn't think about him, where ever he was (if she had to guess, probably locked up in his mountains still). "The f-fastest!" she suddenly blurts out, not wanting to let her only talent pass her by. She was nothing if not fast.

Although, she was also a little curious, too; "Co...Coming w-with us?" she looked between the two, not wanting to be separated anytime soon, "...w-where are you g-guys going?"
PostPosted: Wed Apr 10, 2013 11:17 pm

The stormchaser grinned at the sound of Sarcel's voice, similarly relieved as she confirmed her well-being, and gladdened by the sound of her voice. As it had been with Aprife, he had not seen her for several weeks either, having been careful to avoid the city and its surveillance. It was all too pleasant to see them again, even under such dire circumstances. He assumed that Sarcel's hive had been spared as well, seeing as she wasn't in a completely frantic state. Truth be told, he was just a bit surprised, because she didn't seem nearly as frayed as he'd imagined she might be. All the better!

He stood between the two and watched them exchange words after introductions, a big smile on his face. Yeah, they'd be fine. He snorted a little at the yellowblood's tone, and nodded to both of them, eyes narrowed with amusement. "That's right. Not even -I- can beat her in a race." He admitted, loving to see her timid side disappear, replaced with the enthusiasm that emerged with just the right bit of coaxing and encouragement. He nearly laughed as he watched her hang back, but who could blame her? Aprife's creeper side was showing, but he wasn't about to intervene when there were more interesting things to be done.

"Yes, I was going to ask her if she would join us." Zeffer glanced at his friend, eyes narrowed, smirk apparent. It would be good to have her along, and he knew Aprife wouldn't care. He was reminded suddenly of the team he'd formed all that time ago, Primary Colors, and felt a little pang of sadness. He hadn't seen Rero for the longest time, not since Bloodfest, and he wished the little redblood wasn't so restricted in his activities. There was no time to lament it, however.

"We're going to go...treasure hunting. You know." Zeffer grinned fangedly, hoping that Sarcel would catch his drift. With all the trolls and drones wandering around, he didn't really want to announce their real intentions out loud.

"Nervit Lafute, sir."

Her reply was prompt and she nodded her head politely before scuttling back over to the medical station - just in time it seemed as a troll who must have injured their throat came up and wrote a message - oddly not about the throat wound but instead about oh. Yes, that was rather a lot of blood, wasn't it. Teal had soaked through the other trolls shirt, and Nervit blinked a little before getting to work.

"If you'd like to come behind the privacy screen, as you will have to remove your shirt at least partially for me to access your back."

The privacy screen was a roughly-rigged thing that was basically a stolen pair of curtains on a hastily-constructed rail – useful for those trolls who’s wounds were in places that required removal of clothing therefore looking vulnerable.
