"Yeah. Well." he shrugged. "Then he could blame you for that."

"He blames himself," Ferros said. "He always blames himself, whether it is his fault or not." He turned and padded towards the door.

Rep took a long slow intake of breath at those words, the truth in them like a stab in the heart. But the pain, rather than derailing him, simply made him angrier, bristling that Ferros was even capable of using that kind of guilt against him, immediately taking it personally, that he was the one responsible for Jordan blaming himself whenever he did. He curled his lip.
"Then I guess you don't do your job very well." he sniped after him.

Ferros turned, looking at Rep. "I shield him. I fight with him. I heal him," he replied. "I can't change him. I don't want to change him. He is my human and my Hunter and my partner, and if I changed him, he would not be who he is, and he would not be the other part of me." He lowered his head, his shoulders hunching in almost submissively. "You are his mate," he said. "Please. Don't hurt him."
He flicked a haunted look at Rep, then slipped out into the hall, closing the door quietly behind him.

Rep glared coldly at Ferros, maybe he didn't want to change Jordan, maybe it was honest, but the fact remained, weapons did change them. Even Rep's interests had started to bleed into Tracey's, sharing even intimate opinions.
He didn't want to hurt Jordan, but now things were complicated.

It wasn't too long before Jordan returned, a towel draped over his shoulders, the red stone of Ferros's ring lit from within again, indicating that the weapon had returned to his totem form. Jordan slipped into the room, closed the door, and headed over to the tiny kitchen area to start the coffee machine. Then he turned around, leaned on the counter, and studied Rep. "What happened?" he asked.

Rep at some point had gone back to the laptop, propped open again. He didn't ignore Jordan the way he had Ferros and looked up immediately instead. "Happened? Eh. I don't want Tracey out in a golem. Ferros came along, we had a discussion."
His gaze flicked to the ring. "He could tell you that though."

"He's pretty upset," Jordan said quietly. "I got him to let me look at his memory, so I know his side of it." His tone stayed neutral, though the ring flickered erratically.

"Well then." he said distantly, looking over his glasses. "It's resolved? I explained my reasoning to him."

"I'd imagine Tracey is pretty upset too," Jordan said. He was ignoring the glasses for the time being. He paused, and a slight frown gathered between his eyebrows. "You should know," he offered, "if it bothers you that much. Ferros and I haven't been distinctly separate people for longer than you've known me."
He turned long enough to pause the coffee machine and get himself a cup, taking what had already brewed before letting it continue, watching Rep's expression. There was a tension in the line of his shoulders that hadn't been there for some time.

"He is but when isn't he?" He took a slow deep breath. "And what bothers me is how little I know as far as that.. I don't know what weapons do to us. I never knew anyone before they had weapons. And even like. Sasha. When she came here with me, she was nice. Look what happened to her." He leaned back against the headboard. "I was okay with it when they were souls. I'm not okay with them as...whatever they are, where they want to have their own lives and s**t. He's my weapon, not my ******** kid."
"Besides, they aren't even the same species. It's ******** creepy."

Jordan's shoulders hunched slightly. "I think what happened to Sasha had more to do with the Horsemen than with her weapon," he said, and took a mouthful of coffee, pushing away the memory of that conversation, the one in which both of them had acknowledged, barely, that terrible things had been done to them. Ferros rumbled worriedly, distracted temporarily from his own concerns; Jordan laid his thumb against the band of the ring.
"He's your partner, not your kid," he pointed out after he'd had a moment to compose himself. He looked away briefly, feeling a sense of vague guilt. "I don't know, maybe it's the other way around, me affecting Ferros - he didn't have the capacity to understand the physical part of a relationship until he felt what it's like for a human."

"Maybe, but I changed too. Got more like Tracey, and that doesn't ignore the times when I feel like I lose myself in his feeling and s**t."
He crossed his arms. "I don't do partners either. He's my weapon. He's ultimately a tool, there's nothing equal about it, just a job he's designed to do. Its ******** stupid letting him out to play romance. Like sending a pet cat on a date or something."
Sniffing irritably, he pushed aside the residual echoes of Tracey's thoughts, human and vivid. "They just got confused by blue kingdom. Its our duty to remind them they aren't people."

"They are people," Jordan said. "I think that's one of the reasons that the process leaves them able to think and feel and communicate. To remind us that we're not fighting mindless, soulless things." He wrapped his hands around his cup, taking some small comfort from the warmth of the porcelain. "It'd be a hell of a lot easier if we were. As it is, the ones we fight, the ones we hunt down - they've chosen to become the kind of things that need killing."

Rep sniffed disdainfully. "I think the process is just s**t. Its like random, you don't get to pick your weapon or anything. The free will is just another drawback, just look at Ofie and all the distractions that come from weapons being too talky and s**t."
He raised a brow at Jordan's estimation of their enemies, on the absolute opposite side of the debate. "They are mindless soulless things. Just like delicious fear or whatever the hell it is they turn into when they "die". Fog that picks up habits from us and thinks its real."
"You never struck me as sentimental."
