Katharine's smile turned sad. She felt his body tremble as he held back something, Tears? She didn't know, "What this person close to you for you to be afraid of horses? Did they get hurt or did you? Derek, you got to understand, Horses and People work together and there are always times that someone may get hurt or die. Even with other animals, I could get hurt from one of my cows by accident and could lose my legs or hands. You can't let this fear hold you back from experiencing something amazing. Didn't this person love to ride horses too?" She asked.

Derek Ballard  Derek was trying to collect himself when he heard Katherine speaking. He did not know whether or not he could say anything in response at that moment without having her hearing how upset he was. However, he spoke up, his voice quivering and lower than it had been. "It was...." he started, pausing as he took a shaky breath before continuing, "She was very important to me and my father.... It was my mother that got hurt while riding.... It was raining and storming like it was never going to stop.... I told her not to ride that horse because it was just not the time to ride but she didn't listen..." he paused again, this time a bit longer before speaking again, "She was always proud and stubborn about riding. She thought nothing would happen to her when riding.... But that day she was out riding and her horse spooked because of a bolt of lightning striking a nearby tree.... It dashed forward-- I only can guess what happened from there because of the tracks leading from wher the burnt tree was, and then it must've tried jumping a downed tree, stumbled, broke a leg in the process and fell flat ontop of my mother..... Crushing her...." He closed his eyes tightly to prevent the tears that were threatening to pour from his eyes and then said, "She died not long after that and I haven't been right around horses since......"
He felt very strange pouring out everything about why he was afraid of/did not like horses to Katherine so easily without much of any hesitation. It felt really good to get it off his chest but the fact that he had poured out his heart and soul to a complete stranger was a bit awkward for him and he wondered how Katherine was going to take everything that had just been told to her.{{ooc:}}

Katharine could feel her heart get crushed at his mother's story. She stopped Jet and swung herself in away that had her still on Jet but facing Derek. Smiling warmly, the female farmer pulled him in to a warm hug. She was happy he felt that he could tell her. "I-I haven't always liked horses. When I was little, a horse that my father was trying to tame got loss. He ran rampage. He jumped over the fence him was held in. I-I was with my mother in the garden. I was afraid and started to run away. My mother tried to scare it away but he passed her. He-He got to me and his hooves knocked me down as he got away. I have a scar on my right leg from it. For years after, you couldn't get me never a horse or on one. It was only until I got lost in the wild back home. A wild horse helped me back but having me ride him. On the way back, I fell asleep on his back. I will never forget that horse. She said pausing. She patted Jet's side. "Cause see two years before I moved here, the horse appeared again but this time with a young colt. Jet is the wild horse's baby. And that's why I trust Jet with helping you and getting you to relax." Katharine said smiling as she held him close and Jet started to walk with her still in her position. Jet stopped by the water and started to drink. Katharine got off and helped Jet down. She took out her fishing rod."Well now that we have finished with the bad horse stories, we can get to fishing for you and your cat." She said sitting down by the deck but the water fall.

Derek Ballard Moments after Derek stopped speaking he felt Jet slowing to a halt. He did not know why Katherine had the horse stop, but he soon saw her turning in the saddle and smiling at him. As soon as he saw her smile he saw her moving to pull him into a hug. He was not exepcting that at all and he nearly instantly forgot his sadness as his nervousness took over, his face turning a bright scarlet. He knew that once Katherine let him go his face would still be red, so he didn't even try hiding it.
He listened to her story of how her father had tried taming a horse and ihow it went pretty much all wrong from there. When he heard that she had a scar from the horse he felt bad that she had been hurt by the horse and was amazed that she wanted to be around horses after the incident. He nodded as he heard Katherine saying about him getting some mroe fish for his cat. He wanted to speak, although he was a bit speechless at the fact that Katherine had hugged him as she had.{{ooc:}}

Katharine giggled at Derek's bright red face. "Come on, Derek. Oh should I take you to Doctor Ayame with that red face of yours. I bet she has some concoction for you to drink for it." She teased before swinging her arm and letting the line on her pole fly. It landed far in to the water and the bobber floated on top. Jet walked a little close to the water to start eating the fresh green grass there. The horse didn't mind the weigh from Derek but wondered when the scared young man would get off.

Derek Ballard Hearing Katherine giggling Derek figured that she saw his red face and that was confirmed when he heard about her saying that Ayame may have something for him. "I'm all right." he promised while rubbing his red face. He got off Jet and took out his fishing rod and then cast his line into the water. He had some fish and figured that what he had would be enough for his cat, though he thought that spending some time on the mountain and getting to better know Katherine would be good for him, since he really only knew the people of Konohana. "So, you said you may want to go to one of the upcoming, weekly cooking contests? Are you planning on joining one or just going to see what they're like?" he asked. He could've told her that they are usually like dog fights because of the mayors always saying/thinking they're town's cooking is better than the other, though he figured that she remembered that he had partially mentioned that already.{{ooc:}}

Katharine thought about her answer before saying, "I think I want to just watch the first time before thinking of joining it. Besides, I would need to plan my dish according to the ingredients I could get." She said. Katharine then blushed before saying, "And I would like you to see that I can cook for some reason." She said before pulling up a large fish. She held it out to him with a bright smile.

Derek Ballard Derek waited for a fish to bite so that he could reel it in and he would have one fish that he could give to his cat Mimi. As he did this he heard Katherine speaking and he heard her mentioning that she wanted to only watch the first time, though she had said that she would like him to see that she could cook. He looked over to her and smiled before saying, "I'd like that and I could show you what my father taught me. I am not even close to being as good as he was, though I think that my food is pretty good." he looked back to the water as he felt his fishing rod bobbing and contiued speaking, "I'd like you to try it some time and tell me what you think of it." When he turned his head to Katherine after reeling his fish in he saw the fish that was being held out by the brunette and he nodded, smiling at the fish just before casting his line into the water again.{{ooc:}}

Katharine paused before putting away the fish before saying, "I would like to taste what you can make. You might this it isn't as good as your father's but this just means you can make your food your way. It will be apart of you. But I would like to taste your food. We can see about doing that as a picnic though we have to be carefull to not be seen by the other villagers. I don't know what they would do when they see us hanging out. And though I don't care what they think or say, you might and I don't want you to be in trouble." Katharine said with a smile. She put away for fishing pole when she noticed the sun. "Well I better go. I have to water the few plants i have and then put away the animal that my pets haven't." She said getting up and grabbing Jet's reins. She looked to him, "Do you want a ride back do your side of the mountain?" She asked hoping he would be ok to ride Jet.

Derek Ballard Derek grabbed a long stick and he took some fishing line and some metal wire from his bag and he strung the fish onto the stick before looking to Katherine who had spoken to him. "I could make something out of this fish." he said before mentioning that he could actually use his crops that he had saved specifically for cooking. He told her that his Spring crops would not be ready until closer to mid or late Spring so he would have to use the stuff that he had frozen and/or in his food cellar. He listened about how she was worried about possibly getting caught and what would be said if they were caught. Although he told her that he didn't care much about getting caught because he was not one to turn someone away and end up losing a friend because of some stupid quarrel or fued between towns. As he heard Katherine offering to let him ride Jet back to his side of the mountain he said that he'd happily ride with her, though he was still not too keen on if the horse would start moving fast. So he asked if she could just have Jet go at a trot and nothing more.{{ooc:}}

Katharine smiled at him before getting on to Jet's back. She walked the horse over to Derek. "Ready?" She asked offering him space to get on. The female farmer then lead Jet down the other side of the mountain to where Derek ccould walk home. She stopped her horse at the large hand fishing pond almost at the other town. "Well here you go. Have a nice night." SHe said smiling to Derek before running in the other direction on Jet.

Derek Ballard Derek was glad that Katherine didn't have Jet going too fast for his liking. He looked at the scenery as it passed while he was on the stallion. He hadn't ridden a horse since he was a child and he never thought that he'd ever get on one again, but there he was, on a horse again. And he actually enjoyed it for the most part. As they came to the side of the mountain that he resided on he jumped off the horse once he was certain that it wasn't going to move again and said his goodbyes before heading to his farm to go check on his cat, Mimi, and his crops.{{ooc:}}

The next few days, Katharine was just too busy to go and meet up with Derek. But once the egg hatched. She knew she had to get the chicks to him. "Come on little ones. In to the nest you go." She whispered to the two little chicks. She didn't name them cause they were going to become Derek's. She already got five days worth of feed for him. She saddled up Jet and got on. She went at a soft gallop cause of the delicate cargo. She smiled as she went down the other side of the mountain. Katharine then determinedly had Jet walk through the gates of Konohana. She noticed the gardens and tree and the flowery smell of the place. She smiled liking the smell before finding town hall. The mayor of the town should be able to tell her where Derek lived.

Derek Ballard After Derek got home that night he went straight to check on his cat Mimi, not even going to water his crops for a second time that day. He knew that she was due to have her kittens very soon and she should have everything ready for when they were born. Right after he made sure everything was all right for Mimi and that she had a place to safely give birth to her kittens he went to bed.
The next few days he didn't do very much other than take care of his cat and crops. He did do some small requests, though he didn't really leave town more than he needed to. Yes, he did want to go see if Katherine had gone to the mountain at all, but he didn't because he was making sure that everything was in order if he was going to be giving one of the kittens to her. He then decided to go see if he could find Katherine, though when he headed up the road from his farm that led to the mountain he saw Katherine coming down the road with Jet. He knew right away that the chickens must have hatched and were ready to be given to him. Although he didn't know why on earth Katherine was so brazenly waltzing right into Konohana. Before he could even get any words out to call Katherine's attention he saw her headed in the direction of the town hall. He was confused slightly as to why she'd be going that way, though he realised that she hadn't been told where he lived, so that would be a wise choice in trying to find someone. However, the reason why would more than likely come up and that would blow that they had been meeting on the mountain for a while.
He ran after her as fast as he could trying to reach her before she could do anything that may blow that they had been meeting. Sure, his chasing after her would look a bit suspicious, though he thought that he could pass it off as just trying to be friendly. He had a good way of doing that, seeing as how polite and gentleman-like he was. He was almost always the first to help people when they were new to Konohana or even if they were just passing through. Granted there were times that he was not the first one to greet someone, though he certainly tried to make an impression when he did meet them. When he caught up to her he saw that she was heading right into the town hall; he had to stop her so he called out to her, without calling her by her name. He walked over to her while he called out to her and mouthed not to call him by his name and to play that they had only just met. He did not want them to get caught because he did not want to risk starting some sort of argument with Ina, the Mayor of Konohana.{{ooc:}}

Jet paused on his way to the town Hall hearing Derek running after them. Katharine was surprised when her horse turned around. She smiled seeing Derek. She had Jet walked over to him. "Oh there you are, Derek." She said from up on Jet. "Can you lead me to your farm? I got the chicks for you." She said motioning to the basket sitting behind her.
