His tail flicked behind him at the compliment, because whenever anyone was happy that he showed up, he just felt warmer inside. "I'm glad I stopped by. I....sort of wasn't sure when I should show up since you have a lot on your place and I didn't want you to be confused." Riley had a large circle of friends who were all very excited that she came back. Since he wasn't someone who was in her immediate circle of important loved-ones, he decided to just back off and help all his friends out in trying to process.

Still, admitting he might have been a bit of a coward to not show up sooner wasn't a great thing to admit.

"Barth likes blues, and I like greens. I know Barth likes to be comfortable, but I'm a monster and I get nervous with some of his delicate things in his room. I...break things a lot." That and Christof wasn't exactly dainty either. "I want a place that feels warm and welcoming. I've been to the castle Christof lives and it was just sad and cold." Calder picked up a magazine of Better Graves and Gardens and flipped through it before looking around Riley's room. "Who taught you style?"

Blue and green compliment each other well. Riley offered. The color choices make perfect sense for your temperments. Blue is the color of peace, calm, chill - green is the color of life, and growth. But at the horizon of the world they always meet. For decor, however... this might be tricky. Castles aren't always known for their warmth..

She sifted through the magazines idly, her finger running down the page as she scanned each room design for their attributes. The only thing I can think of that is blue, green, but also warm.. is a beach. Which means the addition of sand colored highlights might turn a room into something pleasing for both of you. Nothing bright, though. Just something to hint at the better features of being at the beach. Colors, small decorative highlights, nothing gaudy.. plus, you do love water, don't you? The smaller, peaceful water fountains might be a nice touch - Barth would certainly appreciate their zenlike quality.

She paused at one page and looked up at the last question. Ah.. taught me? No one, actually. I mean, there was plenty of information available for reading, on it, and the knowledge and memories of infinite amounts of other Illithid who've travelled to every exotic area, and learned all about their cultures, is implanted in my mind, but.. it wasn't really something they stressed to learn. I guess I just.. She shrugged her shoulders softly.

"Wow. It must be super weird to have all those memories of people, but kinda nice. Getting to have all those sights and places in your head. Is that why you're smart?" He wasn't sure how Riley's head worked, in more ways than one, and he was curious now that he could find out about her kind. It wasn't something he ever had the chance to ask.

As for the beach, he tried to think of how that might look. "I don't know....I've never been to the beach." His kind lived in rivers, lakes, and swamps. The idea of such a infinite space of water just felt like a strange concept to him. Whenever the rivers got too close to where the rivers emptied, his family always turned back. The herd never ventured beyond it's territory.

The muscles underneath Riley's skin lifted in a slow, strangely lazy kind of smile. She didn't need someone to tell her she was smart, but oh, how she loved hearing it anyway. Everything about her mood turned serpentine, and she leaned back on the couch, tilting her head in a lazy nod. That's right. If you asked me what experiences I, physically, have had, you'd be surprised at how little I've actually done. But.. I do like reading. Reading, and fighting. That was where most of my personal time went.

It surprised her that he'd never been to the beach. I wouldn't say the beach is one of my favorite destinations - in fact, I could easily list several others I prefer over it. But perhaps we should attempt a little group trip, if you've truly never been. Something small, perhaps - in general, if you're careful about the sun and sand, the beach can be a very pleasant experience. And relaxing, too..

The more she thought about it, the more she liked the idea. What do you think? A little beach trip? Just us and the people close to us?

"I read a lot too. It's all I could really do. That and fish and just..." He shrugged his shoulders. "...think. Imagine." He had no siblings. It had been hard on his parents to successfully have a child, and even he was something that rubbed his clan the wrong way. As it was, his parents eventually felt safer with one child, but even then he had tried and often thought of how it would have been nice to have a whole herd. Since he had no one else, his father would give him books, and he ate up the romance, strong friendships, and sweeping landscapes.

"I like romance ones the best." If that was any surprise. "I only just started looking at magazines." He fondly touched the stack he had. Barth was kind to give him a allowance of sorts, but even Calder felt it was to keep Calder happy while Barth slept and took it easy. When Calder was idle, he often wanted to take Barth out somewhere.

When Riley leaned, Calder mimicked her action and leaned back slowly. Hmmm. Her couch was firmer, but not uncomfortable. The relaxed leaning didn't last long as Calder sat up again, thinking about it. "Oh, will you bring Mal? I can bring Barth. Oh, Amrita and Christof should come too." He had a few other friends, but Riley said the closest.

If it meant getting out and someplace new, Calder was all for it. Barth on the other hand - well, he'd just have to deal.

As Calder listed off the people he wanted to come, Riley waited until he said exactly who she'd expected, and spoke up only when he was done. Those were who I was expecting, as well. It will probably do everyone a bit of good to get out together. I don't think it's something we managed to do earlier, was it? As far as I can recall from Malodore's memories, we don't seem to have done much in the way of.. group outings. Other things were so much more important, back then. She knew what her goals had been. Little group excursions such as this one.. they served no real purpose.

Efficiency afforded Riley no luxury, until her ambitions were set aside.

Let's say.. a week from today. Enough time to let everyone know, and get anything we need. Since you haven't been to the beach before, I should warn you, you'll need sunscreen. Our sun isn't very strong, but the water reflects its rays up and you will get burned if you're not careful. It's easy to lose track of time there.

'Well, you didn't use to get along with Barth, and I wasn't the nicest person with you. It made group things pretty much impossible. Christof would go with you or us, and we'd do our own things." Usually Christof went with Riley, and Amrita had started going out with the patchwork so she really didn't have to pick. Calder and Barth had just sort of started going out back then too.

'Okay.Sun Screen. Got it. I'll tell Barth and Amrita and Christof and tell them.' He wondered how sunny it would be. He tended to like the shade of the trees and ivy where the waters where cool. It should be fun - he hoped. He wasn't sure about the beach, but if it was with everyone, then he'd be happy.

Rising up, he took a few magazines, but left the rest for Riley for when she decided to talk to Mal about their future home, and under this pile he made sure there was 2 magazines on scarlings as well just hiding out. (Nehihi*)

"Thanks for letting me in. I should be making dinner for Barth now. I'll....talk to you later then?"

*Calder evil laugh

Somehow, she felt she'd dodged a few very delicate bullets during the conversation, and she felt rather pleased with how it had gone. Of course, she had no idea he'd left magazines dedicated to those particular bullets, on her table.

I will do so. Enjoy your meal. Text me if you've got any further questions, or the date doesn't work for anyone. Do you.. have my number?

It was strange, having to ask this, but it was always better to be sure.

"Ah...no. I don't." He said with a guilty little laugh, touching his ear. "I felt silly to ask and was going to steal it from either Mal or Christof." It was a indication of how not-friends they had been. It still sometimes felt like he was talking to a stranger despite how much he was told from Christof and Malodore and the few instances they did talk to each other directly that weren't just death threats.

Reaching into the leather satchel at his hip, he pulled out his Eyephone. It was green with a little carrot charm danging from it. He poked at it awkwardly till he got his phone number and showed her his screen.

Riley flipped out her phone, and inputted the number into her contacts. Once it was saved, she pressed the call button, and held it up to her ear.. because Riley using a phone was always a funny site.

The fact that Riley could not speak and was using a phone was just a bit too much for the kelpie, who had to turn away and cover his mouth to keep from laughing. The ringtone "Save a horse, Ride a Cowboil" was cut off as Calder answered with a strained "hello?", still trying not to burst out laughing.

Seems to work fine. Her voice was still in his head, and definitely not coming from the phone, when she snapped it closed and her eyes crinkled in amusement. And now you have my number, as well. I think we're set.

When he felt he had his composure back, and just barely, he closed the call window, saved the contact, and wrote 'Noodle Head' for the name. Closing his phone, he tucked it back into his side satchel. "I think we are. I'll text you later when I talked with everyone." Giddy, he took his magazines and went to the door, and then stopped.

"And, ya know, if you ever want to talk.....you have my number now."

As much as the offer still amused her, she appreciated it. I'll keep that in mind. She replied, letting that be her goodbye, instead of something more formal. She rose her hand up, and her fingers bent into her palm, waving goodbye as they wiggled.

And with a flick of his tail and a wave of his one, Calder scooted off to tell Barth that they would be going to the beach.
