【Raine had been observing a good length of the battle. He was clearly curious as to what movements the Captains would attempt to counter-attack the other. Before he could open his mouth to speak of his observations, Zoe had flickered away and appeared further into the training grounds opposite from the field the Captains were one. Raine's lips parted and revealed his bright white teeth. To see the Third Seat so eager to hop into action... the very idea thrilled him. Enthusiasm was something that always inspired Raine and gave him the necessary hope he needed to help lead the Squad.
He kicked off from the ground in a quick step and darted down to the mossy earth below. He appeared in a neat crouch- straightening himself as he rested his hand onto his zanpakuto. He took advantage of the few seconds to make a quick observation of the girl. He had never fought her before, so it was pivotal that he make the necessary observations to avoid surprises during the battle.
The most unique thing about her was her blades. Those would likely become a problem because he would need to block two blades instead of one. His eyes studied her stance. She was standing akimbo- which to most would appear casual- but Raine could detect the tension in her muscles. This meant that she was likely to react quickly to whatever Raine used as his tactic. He thought of the moments when he had fought Ruka. Her stance was very unique and conditioned more for Hakuda. Zoe's was similar but it was not enough to convince Raine that she was proficient in the art. He had way too many battles with his Taicho to know this for certain. If anything, Raine would safely assume she was more of a kido user. He did not know her skills in zanjutsu- however.
"Oh do believe me when I tell you that I am quite ready. The question is- are you ready for me?" Raine finally asked aloud, his sneaky grin still present. He drew his blade- and the sun reflected off of it's highly polished surface. For some reason, a part of him almost seemed to fade- but perhaps that was only the beam of sunlight playing tricks on the eye.
"First move, Rimida-san." Raine said, bringing his sword down to his side with a clean flick. It sliced through the air as easily as a hot knife through butter. He took a step forward, slowly coasting into a swift sprint. Finally, he kicked off the ground- performed a flip into the air- and aimed to slice his sword down into Zoe.

That sneaky little smile on Raine's face. At least she knew he was no slouch, or at least she had heard that much. As he flicked his blade Zoe could tell that he was a capable Zanjutsu user, from the tension in his muscles as he moved his sword hand to the movement of the blade itself; It all said leagues of him to Zoe, she could tell he was accustomed to battle. Zoe's eyes trained on him as he moved into a sprint and then took to the air. "That's what I like hearing Lieutenant Shiba."She said wholeheartedly as she moved out of the path of the blade with a graceful spin to his left, his opening move was a bit unusual, no doubt he was testing Zoe. That didn't mean however she wouldn't take the chance to counter. As she spins out of the path of his strike she quickly grasped the handle of her Wakizashi and unsheathed it throwing a horizontal slash at Raine's blind spot. Whether he chose to block or dodge Zoe kept her free hand close by to react. Kido being her favored type of counter to most situations it was very likely that she would use it. As the fight began her reiatsu output increased even more, she was consciously raising it slightly more as time progressed, the more she released her chaotic energy the more they would notice the effects of it. By this point the aromas experienced by all of them in their darkest hours could be perceived with particular ease, more so for Raine since is in such proximity to Zoe.

【In only a matter of seconds, the horizontal slash had made impact with the Lieutenant. He hung in midair and he dissipated into nothingness. The color faded, and his convincing physical appearance wavered into something more along the lines of illusion. The copy that she had struck was nothing more than a light-based doppleganger.
"Over here Rimida-san." Raine called with humor clearly detectable in his voice. He was a great distance behind her, poised casually with his sword resting gently into his left palm. His reiatsu had spiked considerably, and vaguely began to resemble the sudden crackling explosive power of a firework. His right hand began to spark with bright and brilliant lights. Soon- it was an unidentifiable mass of brilliant shifting colors. "You wouldn't think that I would make such a straightforward attack like that would you?"
Now it would become evident why he frustrated Ruka-sama so much. He liked to toy with his opponents- often to frustrate them and trick them into charging headfirst. He realized that Zoe wouldn't be so haughty and reckless to make a move like that- but hopefully he could play with her enough so he could gain the upper hand. He readied his position- curious to see what Zoe would attempt next.

As Zoe's blade cut into Raine she could tell something was amiss, there was no resistance like when you cut a normal body. Then she was proved as the body faded into light, the fact that Raine used a doppelganger was a surprise to Zoe even if she didn't outwardly show it. A plethora of ideas ran through her head as she studied the last exchange while turning to see Raine. When did he witch? Why didn't I sense it sooner? Can those doubles harm me? All these questions laid un-answered in her head as Raine's spiritual energy spiked, the firework like reiatsu in his hand was a certain indicator of his position in the Shiba Clan. "I do hope parlor tricks aren't your only specialty Lieutenant"Zoe was not going to show her concern, instead she use it to learn and perhaps rattle him in turn. As Raine's own power spiked Zoe released her own spike in spiritual energy, almost instantly Raine and the Captains would feel the change in the atmosphere. The darkest emotions in their hearts would begin to awaken at this point, the more Zoe released the stronger the influence would be and as she did her vibrant red eyes looked on towards Raine's own turquoise gaze. The chaotic nature of her reiatsu and lineage granted her an un-usually high reiatsu output, she intended to combat Raine's energy with her own. Zoe quickly used flash step, nothing too fancy or particularly fast, enough to get within 10 feet of Raine, as she did Zoe raised her free hand. "Hadō #31 - Shakkahō!"She commanded with a shout, the fiery orb moved a high speed towards Raine given their proximity. Zoe however did not remain in the same spot, as she fired the kido spell she used shunpo once more; This time however her destination was in the air directly above Raine. She held her Wakizashi pointed downwards as she extended her free hand once more towards Raine. "Sprinkled on the bones of the beast! Sharp tower, red crystal, steel ring. Move and become the wind, stop and become the calm. The sound of warring spears fills the empty castle!"As her first strike made its way to the target she wasted no time preparing the follow up. Zoe figured that as long she kept putting pressure on Raine she could figure out his style. To shift from a spell in the 30's to the next one she prepared, the #63 Raikoho was not a simple feat yet Zoe made it look seamless as she recited her incantation. The energy in the atmosphere and reiatsu gathering at her palm as she waited for the correct moment to unleash her move.

【Suddenly a darker energy seemed to surround Raine's realm of awareness. His lips pursed. He could feel his deeper emotions surfacing. His heart began to race. He needed to focus.
'So it seems she must have some kind of illusionary or emotional-based zanpakuto. I don't think about my past like this unless I've spent a good amount of time for it. She must be influencing me somehow. I outta take care not to get too close in proximity- or else there will be problems.'
Suddenly, the Hado spell rocketed towards him at an incredible speed. His eyes widened- and he seemed to flicker- but somehow he remained in place. The spell exploded in place. A massive cloud of dust erupted into the air, creating a dense fog. There was a scream, likely convincing someone that he had been hit. When the fog distilled, Raine was laying spread-eagle in the grass. He was charred and beaten. Oddly enough, he no longer had the crackling reiatsu surrounding his arm.

Indent.Zoe observed as her attack hit her target. The fact that he had gotten hit was something of an oddity, as the scream was heard and the smoke cleared Zoe noticed the reiatsu in his arm was gone. Could this be another one of his theatric stunts or did she legitimately hit him? Well It didn't matter to her, as she saw 'Raine' on the floor the reiatsu output spiked once more."Hado #63 - Raikoho!" Her command was heard loudly over the expanse as her free hand pointed its palm towards Rain and the lightning blast made it's way to the floor at great speeds, the nuber 63 spell with a full incantation was devastatingly strong and would no doubt cause a large enough explosion to severely wound Raine if he was indeed on the floor or lure him out if he was using another doppelganger and hiding somewhere near the impact zone. He had very little time to react and while Zoe looked on she firmly held her Wakizashi pointed downwards, the hand she used to fire her spell smoking slightly was cautiously brought to her face, as it neared her mouth Zoe blew the smoke gently; A slightly sadistic smirk on her face as her energy kept rising. Every so often her reiatsu would spike and her outward appearance would become slightly twisted, in this moments the effects of her energy would be felt like a sharp thrust.

【The hado spell made impact with the ground, and the grass burned and charred- erupting into tiny little flames. No one was laying there anymore. This had yet been another one of Raine's ploys. Raine's ultimate strategy was more distracting the enemy to confuse and infuriate them. He would continue down this path until his zanpakuto was released. While many often reprimanded him for his tendency to use his light copies, they still aided him well in battle. It had been how he had managed to defeat his enemies during the war. The most dangerous thing about Raine was not knowing whether or not he was real.
When he flickered, he had exchanged himself with his light copy.
"Shiba Super Punch!" The Lieutenant's voice suddenly called out from Zoe's side. Raine was bringing his fist towards Zoe in a powerful thrust. Should the punch make impact, it would release a powerful firework based explosion that would send the opponent tumbling a few feet backwards. The fireworks burned with severe colorful power. This was a technique extremely unique to the Shiba Clan- one that Raine had perfected.

Now Zoe had to test her other idea, to see if these copies were tangible or not and Raine had just provided the perfect opportunity."Bakudo #81 - Danku" Zoe stated calmly without really turning to see Raine, if the clone could make a solid attack then it would give her information, if it was in fact what Zoe thought then this was the real Raine. As the punch made contact with the wall it would probably be deflected, after using the 81 spell Zoe could be seen a bit fatigued, she had used high level spells in quick succession while maintaining her spiritual pressure mostly sealed. Now she would see, the reiatsu output of Zoe would spike now, releasing the brunt of her reiatsu which rivaled the average Lieutenant's shikai; Now her chaotic energy would be in full swing. The madness in her energy would begin taking hold of those around her as she turned her body and used a flash step when the punch was about to hit the barrier, she would wait for the moment to strike with force.

IKR, I was gonna use #88 but for some reason it seemed like overkill to use it so early on in the fight xDD
【Raine's eyes widened as the Danku spell had been erected before him. He hadn't expected her to do that- to react so quickly after seeing his light copy. He needed to quicken his speed so that his tactics would work flawlessly. The punch made impact with the wall- and the firework energy spewed in every direction aside from Zoe's own. Raine quickly took advantage of the moment to kick up into the air, move towards the Danku wall, and kick away from it to gain a good distance between himself and Zoe. He could feel her reiatsu spiking. She was beginning to try and bring back those negative feelings within him. Raine couldn't afford his mind to become clouded by unnecessarily depressing thoughts.
He unsheathed his blade once again and held it in front of him. His bright green reiatsu began to line the surface of his body.
"Blind them..." He began, opening his eyes to reveal that they were even brighter in color than before. "Hisuihikari."
His blade began to glow brilliantly as a massive wave of green plasma erupted from the blade. It circled around him in an impressive clockwise display before finally settling into his reiatsu. Raine grinned once again. The blade released three rings made out of the same material as the blade. They each hovered above Raine- one to his left, the other to his right- and the third hovering just above his head. It almost appeared as if Raine's blade was a crudely made cross. With his shikai released, Raine could already think of a plethora of attacks he could perform to finish off the job. Perhaps he would start with a light attack- blinding everyone and releasing the light to then reveal more copies.
No. That would be used later. Instead, he needed to test the waters. He wanted nothing more than to force her to draw out her own shikai.
With a simple thrust of his blade- the green plasma that had come out of his blade rushed towards Zoe in a furious rolling wave.

Indent.Finally, it seemed Zoe had forced the Lieutenant's hand enough for him to enter his shikai. The zanpakuto he wielded was apparently light based to further augment Zoe's dismay due to the possibilities of more doubles. As Raine thrust his blade forward and sent his attack rolling towards Zoe a sly smile could be seen on her face."Bakudō #21 - Sekienton!" She shouted as she quickly pointed her palms to the floor, an explosion of red smoke engulfed the area where she was obscuring Raine's line of sight of her. Zoe used this chance to use shunpo and move out of the way, Zoe was at a disadvantage after all. As the attack went towards the smoke where she was Zoe appeared above Raine."Disintegrate, you black dog of Rondanini!! Look upon yourself with horror and then claw out your own throat!" Zoe recited quickly, her mastery of kido spells would at least allow her to hold her own without releasing her zanpakuto, as she finished the incantation she had drawn the symbols of the spell with an outline of red energy which covered her body as well."Bakudō #9 - Geki" The calm words escaped her pursed lips with a slight sting to them, Raine had little time to react if it was in fact him and not a copy. Zoe had experience in fighting unreleased given the fact that she couldn't hear her zanpakuto. Perhaps people would find it odd that she would fight without releasing, it's not that she didn't want to; It's that she cant do so. Now The energy from her body would possibly engulf Raine and immobilize him, thus granting Zoe a swift victory... or would it?

【"She uses a lot of kido- where does all that energy come from?" Raine asked himself aloud as she released the Sekienton. The cloud of red smoke surely did put him at a disadvantage- but it also gave him a major advantage. He too could not be seen until she exited the screen of smoke. He took advantage of the moment. With a quick flicker he flipped out of the way- leaving behind a light copy and bending the light waves around himself to render himself invisible. He landed in a neat crouch and observed. When she aimed the spell at Raine and called out the incantation- Raine's light copy froze up in the red energy, much Raine would've normally done so had he been in line for the attack. Perhaps he would use his other tactic: Exhaustion. If he continued to force her to use kido she would surely run out of reiatsu at some point and either give him the upper hand or force her into shikai. He just needed to remain patient.
"You really outta start paying attention to which one is the real me." Raine said with a chuckle. He finally restored the light back to normal which decimated his light copy and revealed himself. He was smiling that same smile again- the trademark look of Raine. Winking one of his eyes as he walked, he began to leave other light copies of himself behind. Soon enough there were five- and then ten. They were all standing in different poses- each a reflection of the real Raine projected from prior battles. One by one, each of the Raines ran towards Zoe- reaching out and grasping at her or slicing their blades towards her. Should she fight back her attacks would not make impact because they were only projections- not physical copies. The dopplegangers themselves couldn't cause any harm- but served entirely as a distraction.
'I have to re-evaluate my strategy. It's been depending solely on the dopplegangers and will get too repetitive. The issue is just getting close to her... if I could just... Hrn...'
Once his light copies had created a dense mass around her- serving to block her view- Raine took advantage of the moment.
"Carriage of thunder, bridge of a spinning wheel. With light, divide this into six!" He called.
"Bakudo number sixty one- Rikujōkōrō!"
On cue, the six beams of glowing yellow light rocketed towards Zoe. Hopefully Raine could pin her down where he could finally begin attacking her again.

Indent. As Raine spoke to her Zoe couldn't help but slightly twitch an eye. So many copies of him were there, 10 in total and her patience was growing thin. 'Perhaps it's time to switch tactics'. She thought as she drew her Katana and held it parallel to her face as she raised her Wakizashi up and touching it against her Katana, thus making a cross with her blades. As she raised her blades her reiatsu permeated her body, as this happened the lines in her face got twisted and her eyes took a more vibrant crimson hue; The small black wings on her back responding to this increase in energy by growing slightly larger. The madness in her blood had awakened once more as the Raine doubles closed in her."Stupid parlor tricks... I guess it can't be helped then" Zoe replied as she pursed her lips slightly, her voice lacked the bubbly tone from before, it had seriousness in it, like it was someone else speaking for her. Zoe did not move or budge an inch, she merely placed her Wakizashi in the path of a strike, she wanted to verify her theory. Expecting the blade to pass right through her own Zoe's form could be seen to be relaxed, her sword arm's muscles were not tensed; She had deduced by the previous exchanges that these copies were not tangible. The blade, it made contact and surely as she expected did nothing, immediately a twisted smirk could be seen on her face.
"Now lets see how you fight 'Lieutenant' Shiba. Let's see how you fare without the direct advantage of those cheap tricks!"Zoe shouted as she lunged forward, past the clones and towards Raine. As she did the incantation being used by Raine was an obvious one, the #61 Bakudo spell with a full incantation would undoubtedly be troublesome to get caught in. Zoe wasn't in any mood to get trapped by the technique, using the advantage of having two blades and a very large reiryoku reserve she stopped dead in her tracks. As the rods of light came towards her Zoe stanced herself sideways, she held the shorter Wakizashi horizontally at her back while she held the larger Katana horizontally in front of her. A yellow energy signature running the length of both blades as the rods closed in on her. "Hado #32 - Okasen!".Was all that was heard as the beams came to bind Zoe, she let out 2 waves of energy which succeeded in deflecting the Bakudo spell but due the proximity Zoe was also caught in the ensuing explosion and was rocketed down to the earth with force. A sickening thud closely followed by a large crash where heard as dust raised from the ground. After a few seconds Zoe could be seen getting up from the floor, her dress was now torn in several places, she was absolutely filthy and she had blood out of the corner of her mouth and a cut in her head which tainted her pale blond hair with the crimson color of blood. "Come now, I hope you didn't think that would be enough to keep me down"For some reason Zoe still had that deviously twisted smirk on her face, sure she had just taking a nice amount of damage mostly due to her own reckless abandon but that didn't mean she wasn't enjoying herself. Odd right? Madness and Chaos tend to be so on a regular basis. Zoe was beginning to feel the effects of fatigue by now, she had used kido spell, after kido spell, after kido spell and although she did have a staggeringly high reiryoku reserve she too had limits and would rather concentrate on saving energy for a more appropriate moment. She stood there looking at Raine, her reiatsu spiking and then settling to a more neutral state and spreading through her body, the madness in her blood made her act more recklessly but under no circumstance was she stupid. She couldn't use her blades powers and she would prolong this as most she she could but she knew this was a loosing battle.

This was a doozy, getting into her mind is a bit tricky still since I'm just starting to rp as her.
【Raine opened his mouth to speak- but what could he say? Something about Zoe seemed a little 'off'. It almost appeared like she was enjoying the pain that she was undergoing. His eyes fell upon her smile, and he studied the hunger in her gaze. For the first time in a long while, Raine felt slightly unsettled by the opponent.
"You see Rimida-san, these aren't little cheap tricks. You'll find that I'll often avoid the opponent by sending out my light copies and using them in place of my own physical self. Some consider it cowardice. Others consider it troublesome. I can safely assure you that my tactics are not designed to be either of those. I think I've managed to do exactly what it is I've wanted to do- and that is to tire you out and bring you to breaking point. Now, your defense will likely falter. Usually I wouldn't explain this out loud- but seeing as this is a friendly battle I have little concern on whether or not you manage to beat me."
Raine sheathed his zanpakuto again sealing his clones away. The green plasma that had flowed about in the air sucked itself into his sheath. The three blade-rings were now gone.
"Let's even the playing field a bit shall we?" He asked as he drew his sword. "Simple sword to sword combat. No kido, no clones, nothing out of the ordinary. That way, we are using our physical strength instead of our reiatsu. What say you, Rimida-san?"

As soon as the blade made contact with his own Raine would notice Zoe abnormal physical strength, it was pretty safe to call her a monster when it came down to it although she didn't know if Raine's own physical strength was on a similar level. "Jajajajajajajaja" The twisted laugh could be heard clearly as she threw her slash. Her eyes still tainted with that vibrant crimson as she splayed a large smile on her face. It had been a while since she was allowed to fight and she was certainly enjoying it.

【Raine's lips broke into a wide grin. He was glad she had agreed, for zanjutsu was his specialty and he took pride in his abilities. Zoe flashed stepped above him- and she threw down a firm slash. Raine raised his blade with admirable speed and blocked the attack. The wakisashi came afterwards, and Raine drew his blade away and met it with a wide arc.
'She's strong.'Raine thought to himself. He couldn't fathom where so much strength could be possessed in such a tiny body- but he was quickly reminded of his Captain and recalled her uncanny abilities in strength. He just needed to use the same techniques he used in these cases. He would take advantage of the force she used. All he needed to do was effectively dominate the momentum. Personally, Raine wasn't as strong as the other Shinigami, but he knew how to use momentum to turn the opponent's strength against them.
With a graceful slash, he brought his blade towards her in an easily deflectable attack- only to then curve it in a complex twist and aim it for her abdomen. He moved with such dexterity and agility that his attacks were very accurate and precise.
