"Ahh, Darello, eh?" Katsu was about to say more before hearing Manta knock on the door. He slightly turned his head back to take a look a Manta. He was quite surprised to see the fellow jounin, yet his facial expression didn't budge an inch; his smile was still as aloof as ever, and his eyes still as dulled. The jounin had surely missed a lot since he had journeyed to Mount Myoboku. Manta was training genin? The thought almost made Katsu laugh. He didn't know his fellow jounin that well, but he had heard plenty of rumors. Not the good kind either. "Well, that's very surprising."

Katsu turned his attention back to Darello. Throwing students out of the door? He didn't know Darello at all, but he was the leader of the puppet brigade. That warranted a lot of strength, truly, and intelligence. Katsu wasn't sure what to make of the man yet, but, as he was the reigning Kazekage, he had no choice but to treat him as he would Rikuto. "I am Katsu Uchiha, otherwise known as the Nightmare of the Sand, and a jounin of this village." Katsu continued to speak rather slowly and his demeanor was fairly laid-back. He thought for a second and laughed. "Hahaha, but you just said that." Katsu wasn't exactly the sharpest tool in the shed. In battle, his strategies and tactics were legendary and much respected, but outside of battle, he was somewhat stupid. A sort of idiot savante. "I have just returned from Mount Myoboku...and I suppose it is time for me to do a mission for Sunagakure. However, my journey has been long, and I was hoping to have dinner with Rikuto. Since he's not here and you're the kazekage now..." Katsu scratched his head. The whole situation confused him greatly. What happened to Rikuto anyway? And why was Darello chosen to be the placeholder for him? "Since you are the Kazekage now, I guess I can take you to dinner? Or not." Katsu's smile still held firm; the other shinobi in the room, however, would notice that the Uchiha had pretty much wasted both of their time. Although Katsu was quite strong, he wasn't as skilled in his wit outside of battle, and his laid-back and unrushed way of talking was not exactly best paired with an already impatient Kazekage.

I GIVE YOU...

For a moment, all was still, as both Jounin stared each other down. Then, as Katsu greeted him, Manta's face lit up, and he clapped Katsu on the back, laughing.

"It's been a while, Katsu. How have you been?"

Manta had been doing his own training for the last few years as well, but that was a tightly kept secret between him and Rikuto. Mount Myoboku was a nice place to train, for sure, but it simply was too docile for Manta. He had ventured deep into the desert, living on his own and killing rogue ninja for years. To be honest, it was good to be back though.

As he heard his fellow jounin remark that he was taking the Kazekage to dinner, he couldn't quite suppress the smirk that grew on his face.

"Ah, you guys going out for dinner? As a fellow jounin, I feel it's fair that I come as well." Manta said jokingly, pulling Maki back into the room.

The hooded figure stepped into the Kazekage's mansion without a hitch, though when a few ANBU appeared before him, he raised his hand to show that he didn't need to be escorted to the office. His entrance to the room as swift and silent; he was sure none of the others in the room even noticed him until he was standing with his back to the closed door, a hint of a smile playing on the lips that just escaped being completely shadowed by the hood that was pulled over his face.

"Since he's not here and you're the kazekage now...Since you are the Kazekage now, I guess I can take you to dinner? Or not."

"Gee, Uchiha, Manta, I'm hurt~ I was only gone for what, a few months, and you all are already making dinner plans without me?" The Kazekage reached up to remove his hood and shook his hair from his face; it was longer, just a bit, bleached to a fairly lighter color by the desert sun. His face (free from a tan only because his family had never been one to burn under the sun so easily), though it held his usual mischievous expression, was somewhat a little...less; a little tighter around the eyes (dulled slightly with weariness) and the corners of his mouth (flickering downwards slightly as if there was a magnetic pull even though he was trying to keep it up). He directed his tired smile towards his temporary replacement. "Darello, you look like hell. Should we be thinking about a Tertiary Kazekage?" He tried a teasing tone and pulled it off. Somewhat. Though he was tired and annoyed from his trip, he felt that it was only fair that he didn't take out his irritability on the people who had worked hard to fill in the gap he had left behind while on said trip.

Katsu turned around to stare into the eyes of Rikuto. The Kazekage was curiously dressed in hoods, and a it was blatantly clear by things such as his skin and expression that he was exhausted from whatever journey he had come from. Katsu's eyes grew very slightly, indicating that he was somewhat surprised at the Kazekage's appearance. However, nothing else gave off the slightest hint of any emotion other than aloof happiness. Katsu glanced Rikuto over once more and chuckled to himself.

"Eh, Rikuto. Long time no see." Katsu eyes remained on the Kazekage. Truthfully, since the Uchiha was training at Mount Myoboku, he hadn't even known that the kage was even gone from the village. Why was he gone? What did he do? Did the other villages know? Katsu's interest was peaked, but that would have to be saved for later. As for now, it seemed that all four shinobi in the room were fairly tired, and Katsu was more than happy to take them all to dinner. He had definitely been craving steak. His smile grew bigger in size. "Please come to dinner with us. I have a lot to tell you....and you have a lot to tell me." Katsu's voice almost sounded threatening during that last part, but his expression gave off no hint of anything other than pure bliss. Was this a form of intimidation? No, surely Katsu was too slow for that...right? Katsu merely continued smiling and looked around at the three other shinobi. He was among great company, to say the least. It hadn't occurred to him until now that these were probably the four strongest shinobi in the village.

I GIVE YOU...

Manta turned, twirling on his heel as Rikuto entered. At first, he thought it was an assailant that had somehow escaped the notice of the ANBU, and he had pulled out a kunai, letting it slip into his palm.

When Rikuto took off his hood, Manta simply stood, stupefied for a moment. He walked up to his Kazekage, still not believing his eyes for a moment. Then, he let out a big laugh, the sound echoing throughout the room. The laughter continued for a few more seconds, accompanied by Manta firmly clapping Rikuto on the back.

"Kazekage-sama, it's good to see you." He said, forcing his voice to be light and joyful, even though he could clearly see the signs of stress on Rikuto's face. He was tired, that was for sure, exhausted probably, and not just in the physical sense. This didn't look like Rikuto, this looked like his ghost.

Ah, well, at least he was back.
"Katsu's right, you have much to tell us, and we have much to tell you. Darello here has been doing a wonderful job keeping up the village's spirits and taking care of the day to day, but I'm certain public approval is going to rise drastically now that you're back. Also, before we go out to dinner, I'd just like to register for a mission."

Manta motioned to Maki. "Stay here please, I'll go get Ryuu."

Dinner? he thought, his face displaying no hint of his sudden turmoil. Despite not being an antisocial soul, he didn't really want to go through the stages of planning a trip to a restaurant. The man had always preferred to stay at home, and make Chicken and Noodles. As the dinner's numbers grew as Manta joined in the with the precedings, Darello was saved by a hooded figure ventured into the room. When the man uncovered his hood, and showed himself to be Rikuto, Darello immediately stood up and bowed, as did the 7ft bulk that is Puppet Arsenal.

Darello finished his bow when Rikuto began to talk about the dinner arrangements. Darello saw how the discussions between Katsu, Manta and Rikuto seemed to be progressing, while Darello simply stood there, left the desk area where Rikuto would now regain his place at.

He thought about having a tertiary kazekage, and because of this dulled himself out of the other's conversations. When Manta left, Darello would regain composure, coming up with an answer to Rikuto. "No, another one of us would just be annoying. You know what they say, threes a crowd." his spoke, his voice very formal as he was speaking to a higher-up, be it only just. "My Lord, please take a seat after your long journey." he spoke once again, ushering Rikuto back to his seat.

"I guess everyone has a story to tell." he stated, agreeing to dinner plans of some kind.

"Eh, Rikuto. Long time no see." Rikuto barely registered the surprise and the reactions of the four others in the room, but he knew enough to react accordingly. "Please come to dinner with us. I have a lot to tell you....and you have a lot to tell me." Riku tilted his head slightly in acknowledgement, not addressing the slight possibility of threat in the last part of the jounin's sentence. After all, the jounin had not made any move of hostility against him. Yes, Riku had a lot to tell everyone, but he would spare them all the gorey details. After all, his mission had been one of a mentally delicate, and incredibly personal, nature. "Dinner sounds wonderful. What are we having?" Though Riku was much too sick at heart to eat anything, he knew he would have to force himself to do so.

Manta's laughter was not unexpected; but even if it was, Riku's expression showed no surprise, only the same bleak smile. "Kazekage-sama, it's good to see you." There was a sense of normality in the jounin's greeting, but Riku could tell it was forced, much like how he was forcing his own playfulness. But Manta, though he noticed Riku's stress, didn't mention it, and for that, the orange-haired male was grateful. He would explain everything...in his own time. When he believed they were ready to hear. "Darello here has been doing a wonderful job keeping up the village's spirits and taking care of the day to day, but I'm certain public approval is going to rise drastically now that you're back." Riku's smile was a little more genuine this time. Darello had not let him down. At least that had been a constant in his short life that had not changed yet. "Also, before we go out to dinner, I'd just like to register for a mission." "Of course." There was something like relief in Riku's voice; it had been so long since he had been home, but though his body was screaming at him to rest, he only knew that if he tried, demons would plague his mind until he went mad. The only thing for him to do was keep in the company of the people he knew and work until he was too mentally exhausted to think about the past.

"No, another one of us would just be annoying. You know what they say, threes a crowd." Riku flashed Darello another small, but slightly more genuine smile. He had missed the puppeteer's straightforward bluntness; he could trust Darello to see the obvious that he would sometimes miss because he was always too worried about the details. "My Lord, please take a seat after your long journey." Riku was corralled to his seat, and he shrugged off his cloak, draping it across the back of his chair before sitting down. "I guess everyone has a story to tell." Riku was glad that Darello would be joining them (at least, that was what he gathered from the puppet master's tone; it was hard to tell with Darello, but Riku was quite sure he was learning, somewhat). "Excellent~ We're all going then."

The Uchiha watched as Rikuto took the seat of Darello. The man was a good Kazekage, and from what Manta had just said, so was Darello in his stead. Katsu looked around and he could sense the feeling of weariness among the room. Everyone, including himself, seemed like they needed to rest for a bit and relax. Surely, if they went to a restaurant, there would be quite a commotion. People would ask questions about Katsu and, more importantly, Rikuto. After thinking to himself for a moment, Katsu's eyes lit up. An idea has just occurred to him. "Actually, I think it might be best to eat inside the office. We could send someone to have food brought to us. This way, we can get started a little early on our R&R. Fine with you guys?" Katsu smiled at the two men in front of him; Manta would be back momentarily, though he seemed in a hurry to sign up for a mission. This is why I hope to the heavens I never have to train a genin.

Katsu walked over to one of the book shelves in the office and leaned on it, using it as a makeshift chair. There was a moment of silence as he muddled through his thoughts. How was he going to say what was next? He wasn't exactly sure. All he was sure about was the fact that he felt that Rikuto, as well as Darello and Manta, would want to know. "I have finally found what I was looking for...and I have learned that there is even more." Katsu decided to speak somewhat in code so Manta's students, if they were anywhere near the office, didn't find out too much. That, and he almost didn't want to say it aloud. The jounin was, of course, talking about activating the third tome of his sharingan. Although he was usually jovial, Katsu held a somewhat more serious tone when he spoke. His smile still held, although not as brightly, and his dulled eyes were focused intently on the reactions of his fellow shinobi. His sharingan had definitely been a valued asset of Sunagakure these past few years, and several village elders were anxious and impatient as to when the jounin would activate his final tome. The reputation and battle strength of Sunagakure would be all the moresignificant, they told him. It was his duty as a Sunagakure shinobi to activate it. Katsu, to be honest, was eager to activate his third tome himself. The power, he had read, was exponentially greater than the second tome. When he finally did activate it, he had felt like he had served his village well. He was now an even more worthy tool of Sunagakure.

What Katsu wanted to get across, however, was more than the third tome. As he statd in the last part of his sentence, there was a level beyond the third tome of the sharingan. The Mangekyo, it was called. Katsu, as he was born and raised in Sunagakure, did not know much about his sharingan or the Uchiha clan, as they were focused in Konoha. As a result, Katsu was almost always on the search for information about his dojutsu. When he had learned about the Mangekyo, he nearly jumped in joy at the thought of even more unique capabilities. His joy immediately dropped, though, after he discovered what was needed to attain it. Too good to be cheap.

However, the fact that he had activated his third tome held a whole new meaning for the few important higher up shinobi like Rikuto and Darello. The power of the sharingan meant the power to control a tailed beast. Katsu wasn't exactly sure how he or how the other suna nin in the room felt about the notion of having control over a tailed beast, but he knew that several advisers foamed at the mouth just from thinking about it. There were more than a few elders who continued to push Rikuto into hunting down the beasts and sealing them into village shinobi. Katsu could see the appeal; nearly unlimitless chakra contained in shinobi that would be loyal to Sunagakure. It was tough not to like.

Katsu Uchiha sighed. As soon as people found out about this - and they definitely would, soon enough - Katsu knew that they would push the matter even farther. He held personal qualms about the whole thing himself. He would do whatever his Kage asked of him without question, but he had never been keen on the idea of humans having control of those...creatures. His eyes turned to Rikuto first. "I can learn the technique, and we can send some scouts to start...hunting, if you wish." Katsu didn't want to say anything too blatant for fear of being overheard. He had hoped that Rikut and Darello, and Manta whenever he came back in the room, would understand his code.

With Ryuu right behind her, Nami made her way towards the Kazekage's office. What she found outside the doors however were two ANBU that seemed besides themselves about something. The door was ajar, and Nami could here many voices coming from the inside. Poking her head in, Nami entered and then bowed. "I do hope I'm not interrupting anything, sirs. Lord Darello, I'm here to sign up for some missions to begin my work for Suna."

When she arose, she saw a few new faces in the room. There was a darker skinned gentleman who had a distant look about him, while there was one that seemed to be all smiles not far off. Then, her eyes caught the man she was well aware of. Blushing and becoming frantic, she bowed, her ponytail falling over her head. "Lord Kazekage! Welcome back! I know I'm new, and only a chuunin, but please forgive me for intruding! I'm Nami Mokuzaibara, the emissary from Tori no Kuni. As I said to Lord Darello earlier, I will serve Suna as I would my true home!" At this point, Nami felt like a fool. She should have known better than to walk into the Kazekage's office unannounced.

Ryuu followed Nami into the office until he noticed the two jounin and the kazekage and his substitute. He was sure they were having a meeting of some type and he had to place there so, he quickly bowed to them in respect. "I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to interrupt your meeting. I'll be leaving now if my sensei doesn't need me or if you want me to leave." Ryuu said to the group. Ryuu stayed in the room but, he stayed in the bowing position. He really didn't know what else to do. He hadn't been to the Kazekage's office in such a long time and with two different Kazekage's he wasn't sure what they would want.

"Actually, I think it might be best to eat inside the office. We could send someone to have food brought to us. This way, we can get started a little early on our R&R. Fine with you guys?" Rikuto was partially relieved, partially...something else. He nodded in agreement anyways. "I believe that is for the best." He murmured, feeling the rest of the fatigue from the journey finally catch up with him. But Katsu seemed to have more to say.

"I have finally found what I was looking for...and I have learned that there is even more."

This caught Riku's attention and he sat up straighter, only slightly, to show that the Uchiha had his full attention. Though no specifics were used, Riku immediately understood that Katsu was referring to his Sharingan; one of the most valuable assets the village ever had. Never before in the history of Sunagakure did anyone believe that they would have access to the powers of the Uchiha clan before, as they were exclusive to only the Leaf Village, which was why Katsu was one of their most valuable shinobi. But Riku, unlike the others of the village, had always had mixed feelings about Katsu as a shinobi. He saw the Uchiha as a person as well, not only as a shinobi or someone he could use. The elders of Suna had always pressured him to assist Katsu in activating his Sharingan, but Riku had always resisted. The Sharingan was something Katsu had to achieve at his own pace, with his own right. Riku would not treat someone differently just because they had something others didn't; it wasn't his way.

The elders cared nothing for Katsu's well being, they did not take the time to understand him as another human being. All they wanted was for the other villages to fear them. They only wanted to add the Uchiha Sharingan to their offensive forces, to add to the reputation of the village of the Sand, to proclaim their strength to the others; which, in Riku's opinion, defeated the purpose of having 'hidden' in their village name. As far as Riku knew, the Sharingan was as dangerous to the user as it was to the user's foe; he remembered the many debates he had with the elders about the dangers of the Sharingan that came with its' uses but it was like his voice went in one ear and out the other.

However, now that Katsu had finally activated the third level of Sharingan, things were only going to get more difficult. And according to what Katsu had said, there was an even higher level. The Kazekage's brow furrowed slightly as he steeped his fingers in front of his lips. But there was something about the way Katsu had worded it, or maybe it was just his tone, the hint of another expression in his eyes, that made Riku pause and refrain from saying anything yet. The thought of more power would appeal to any person with half a brain to think, but Riku had always been careful when treading this ground. As someone who had once been through that kind of phase in his life (one he would not care to repeat), he knew all too well what happened to people drunk on power. He would never accuse Katsu of becoming that kind of person, but Riku's own advisers were people who only thought of the advantages of gaining power and not the disadvantages.

Especially when one of the things they were thinking about relying on Katsu' power for was the captivity of the Tailed Beasts. As a beast tamer by blood, the thought should have excited Riku, but all he felt was a hollow sickness in his heart. His summons were all chimera, creatures that had not been born of the normal world, fated from birth to be partnered to the children of the Koganechi clan; but the Tailed Beasts were different. They had been born free, forced into captivity by power-hungry men who only wanted more power while becoming paranoid for the safety of that power at the same time. Riku was not someone who could do that to them unless his village was under direct attack from them. And at the same time, there was the shinobi the Tailed Beast would be sealed into to think about. He did not want to follow the footsteps of the former shinobi of the past; where the people used had grown up into a society where everyone feared and hated them, and where they had undergone excruciating trials because of the power sealed inside them.

Unlimited power was tempting, yes, but power was nothing compared to the protectiveness Riku felt for all his villagers. Hurting them would not be worth any gain they got from the Tailed Beasts in his perspective. "I can learn the technique, and we can send some scouts to start...hunting, if you wish." "...No. Not yet." Riku finally spoke up, his words quiet. "We don't know how dangerous it will be, especially for you. Anything that comes after, we will talk about later, in detail. It is a big decision and I don't want you to rush into it." No matter how much it would benefit the village, there was still much to think about, to be completely certain. He was not risking the life of a friend for the chance of a failure. "There are too many uncertain variables-"

"I do hope I'm not interrupting anything, sirs. Lord Darello, I'm here to sign up for some missions to begin my work for Suna."

Riku was interrupted by a new voice, one he was quite certain he never heard before in his life. The kunoichi entered the room and Riku was quite sure he had never seen her before in his life. She was certainly not from Suna, as Riku had acquainted himself with all the names and faces of every genin, chunin, jounin, and ANBU that he got to know. "Lord Kazekage!" But she certainly seemed to know who he was. Riku's smile was pleasantly confused and his eyes darted to Darello, asking the silent, possibly slightly panicky, question of 'Is this someone I should know, oh my god, Darello help' before returning to the young woman. "Welcome back! I know I'm new, and only a chuunin, but please forgive me for intruding! I'm Nami Mokuzaibara, the emissary from Tori no Kuni. As I said to Lord Darello earlier, I will serve Suna as I would my true home!"

Riku looked visibly relieved that it wasn't someone he had forgotten (which would have been a disaster in his mind) and stood up to greet her. "Oh no, you weren't interrupting anything important." Actually it was incredibly important (life changing, in fact) but he did not know this person and no matter how pleasant and friendly Riku was, he did not trust strangers even if they were nice looking young ladies. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Mokuzaibara-san. I hope you've been finding Suna welcoming." His 'Kazekage' face was back on; he didn't need her noticing how tired he was. Riku rounded the desk and clasped Katsu on the shoulder. "We'll continue this later..." He murmured, concern for the Uchiha lacing his words, before returning his attention to the newest arrival in the room. "I apologize I wasn't here to greet you first. As you may have already known, I've been incredibly busy lately. So I'll offer you a rather late welcome." His smile was warm and almost real, as if his worries didn't exist and he wasn't actually troubled by a lot more inner turmoil than he was letting on.

Nami noticed Ryuu had entered, and was equally caught off guard. Now he would get in trouble from her actions as well...When the Kazekage seemed completely fine with the intrusion, and asked her how she was doing even though he had been extremely busy, she blushed a bright pink before trying to regain a more professional composure. "It was no trouble at all, Lord Kazekage. Lord Darello greeted me with much hospitality, and yes, the villagers have been very welcoming. I've even made a friend in a fellow shinobi as well." She looked over her shoulder to Ryuu, an apologetic look in her eyes.

Turning to face the Kazekage once again, and then bowing, she continued her groveling. "I still feel there is no excuse for barging in like I did. Please, if punishment is necessary, do not include Ryuu in the matter. He was merely following behind me." Nami hoped that she would be able to save Ryuu from any reprimanding, but she found it somewhat hard to concentrate. There were so many new faces in the room, and on top of that, the Kazekage was just so...handsome. She had never crossed paths with a boy so breathtaking back home in Tori no Kuni, and she was usually the one who made them breathless.

The Uchiha took a look at Nami as she walked into the door, then at Ryuu as he followed soon after. Young shinobi, no doubt. Katsu nodded as Rikuto proceeded to greet the emissary from Tori no Kuni. He definitely had wanted to discuss the matter in great detail, but even he had to admit that he was tired. His eyesight started blurring, his legs started aching. He had obtained a huge headache, and the vast number of people piling into the office now wasn't doing much to help. The conversation wouldn't be possible to have here and now. There was plenty of time to discuss it, and it seemed that both Rikuto and Darello had had their full share of responsibility for the day. Katsu bowed down to Rikuto. "As you wish, Kazekage." As he straightened his posture, his previous serious tone lightened heavily. His characteristic smile appeared once again, and Katsu's lackadaisical nature showed itself once again. "Seems like it might be a bit too busy to have that dinner, even in the office. Another time, my friends." The words escaped Katsu's mouth slowly and calmly, giving the illusion that Katsu was back to his old self. The Uchiha tried not to think about the Mangekyo sharingan or the tailed beasts or anything, really. It was much too depressing, and Katsu didn't do depression.

The jounin turned towards the door and started to walk back. "I am going to rest for a bit. You guys know where to find me, eh?" Katsu was ready to sink right into his bed at home; Mount Myoboku, Katsu had discovered, was more equipped at comforting toads than it was at humans, and Katsu had been needing a good night's rest for a while. Before he exited the office, Katsu looked at the chuunin and the genin who had just walked in the office. The Uchiha was infamously known for his hatred of training others and taking on apprentices, but he had a feeling that he would come into contact with these two shinobi again. He merely smiled at both Ryuu and Nami. "I am Katsu Uchiha. Nice to meet you both." He had hoped he had come off as non-threatening, though he could never tell these days. The man walked out of the door.

"As you wish, Kazekage." Riku offered Katsu a small smile and squeezed his shoulder reassuringly, a brief contact but it was all he could give at the moment. "Seems like it might be a bit too busy to have that dinner, even in the office. Another time, my friends. I am going to rest for a bit. You guys know where to find me, eh?" "Of course. Rest well." And then the jounin was gone and Riku was able to focus all his attention on his guest.

"It was no trouble at all, Lord Kazekage. Lord Darello greeted me with much hospitality, and yes, the villagers have been very welcoming. I've even made a friend in a fellow shinobi as well." Rikuto smiled. "That is very encouraging to hear." Of course, he knew who Ryuu was; he was the one who had sorted him into Manta's team after all. The Kazekage gave the Suna genin a welcoming smile as well. "I still feel there is no excuse for barging in like I did. Please, if punishment is necessary, do not include Ryuu in the matter. He was merely following behind me." Riku looked surprised. "I hardly think that something like this requires punishment." He laughed a little, finding it slightly easier to act like there was nothing wrong than before. "Please, you don't have to be so tense."

Riku, being a bit of an airhead, didn't notice the effect he seemed to have on her; but it wasn't just her, it was usually with anyone who expressed any kind of interest in him. He just didn't seem to pick up unless told straightforwardly. And he was far too busy these days to worry about romance. Even so, he would admit that Nami was actually quite pretty; but the thought was brief and fleeting.

Michael walked back to the office and knocked on the door, not knowing that the real leader was inside. All he wanted to do was return the keys to Darrello and ask about the arm.
