"Weird Coloration.. Oh Makani, they don't know what they are talking about. You are a beautiful child, with the softest pale hair and the warmest smile I have seen my entire time here in this frozen land. And your eyes are very very very stunning. I wish I could show you, but alas, I am not that powerful. But I will tell you that as often as I can. And friends we shall remain! Always!" His own hand moved to pet the little one that was patting his arm, giving it a little squeeze before he went back to his stew. Geesh, even now it was cold..
"Yup, really! Lots of it! Enough to hopefully last until I come again. Or for a good while if you eat alot!" His bowl emptied, Lusala got up, going over to where his pile of stuff was, looking for something in particular. A long, warm scarf, the one he had been wearing when he first arrived here. His scent clung to the fabric more so than most other things of he wore in the place, and his own scent was so very rich in that of Sauti. "I'll give it to you when you are about to leave, the second gift. In hopes that you remember me when We part. "
~~ The game went on smoothly and far too quickly, to The Master's dismay. He had honestly hoped that this budding friendship between the two men would go alot faster, but it seemed the ice around Herluin's heart was a bit thicker than he had wanted. Of course, as a merchant who was used to betting and playing such games, there was no way that he could not win this game, and he wasn't so kind as to let the other win.
"I think I'll leave these cards with you, my friend, so that the next time you come, perhaps you can beat me. I think that it's getting rather late, and I'm certain you'd want to take your son home with you now, hrm?"

"You are... very nice." Makani murmured quietly, wishing that others were as kind as Lusala was. He just wanted nothing more then to cling to him again, keep him from ever leaving, but he knew that was a selfish thought. Instead he merely turned his attention back to his stew, figuring that he really should finish it. Once it was done maybe he would be able to crawl over to where Lusala was sitting so that he could cuddle up against him. With this thought in mind he lifted up his spoon, about to start to eat again when he heard what his friend was saying about him getting enough of the sweets to last a while if he were to eat a lot, "I will!" He chirped before he started to take big bites, wanting to finish what was in his bowl for two reasons now.
As he happily shoveled down the food he was eating he listed to what his friend was saying about how he would give him the other present when he was going to leave, in hopes that he would remember him. He gave a smile then said, "Of course I will remember you, you are my friend Lusala!" He wasn't sure why he would think that he would forget about him. He guessed that meant he would have to take good care of the gift that he was given and prove to Lusala that he wouldn't forget! Once he was finally done eating, something that felt like an eternity to happen, he set his bowl aside carefully before he crawled over to his friend, curling up close to him, "I will show you, I won't forget, I promise!"
*****
Herluin looked at the deck of cards that were handed over to him, starring down at them, then gave a slow nod, "I... see." He murmured, not sure what to think about the gift given that was given to him. Was it because he was that bad at the game? Probably... that meant that he would have to try harder the next time to beat the merchant he thought to himself before he tucked the cards away into his pocket, "I will practice if I get the chance." He would make no promises, not as though he had a lot of down time after all.
Rising to his feet he set to stretching out, giving a little groan, "Eesh, I really should be getting home, I need to get some sleep." He muttered, mostly to himself, feeling quite full from his meal, a little sleepy from the wine that the merchant had fed to him, and really felt as though now as the time to get his son and bring him home before he dozed off here... which was something he couldn't allow himself to do.

"It's a good way to relax the mind, maybe you can even teach it to the other men in the tribe. That way, you might have more people to practice with." Even though practicing against people who are just as bad as you probably doesn't help as much.. The Master Kept that though to himself though, not wanted to offend the tired looking man.
"Ah, I agree. My son and I will be starting out with our merchandise tomorrow, then leave before the son sets. Our morning will begin early, so we should be cleaning up and heading to bed shortly. But let me walk you back to the tent." His coat hung up on a mounted stick, and he quickly threw it on, to throw off the cold for a bit longer once he was outside, and moved out of the tent and quickly moving to the one beside them where the kids were.
~~~
"Oh little one.. You're far too kind for me. I know that when I leave, You will be what I miss most about this place. " Taking the opportunity to move Makani into his lap, he took the scarf from behind himself, and gently wrapped it around Makani's neck.
"My second gift to you, a scarf that was made by the women who still remain with my moving village back in Sauti. I'd like you to keep it, in hopes that you can find some comfort in it's scent."
Lusala just couldn't help himself; he leaned forward, pressing his lips very gently against Makani's, innocently enough.
"The next time we meet, I would wish to spend more time with you, and I will have another gift. I promise. "
His head turned quickly at the tent flap, where his father came in, and he stood, carrying Makani up with him.
"Are you finished your game? Makani and I just finished our dinner as well I suppose it's time to go home now.."
Playing against his fellow hunters? It could be interesting and perhaps they could do a bit of betting? He wouldn't mind winning some stuff off of them using the cards he thought to himself before he gave a bit of a smile and a nod, "Sounds like an idea." He would have to find time to play, he didn't get much down time given his job, but he would do his best he thought to himself. If he could get others to play with here he would be able to hone his skills so that he could come back and beat this guy later, that would be an added bonus for sure.
Turning to look over at the man as he spoke about how they would be heading out with their stuff before the sun set he gave a nod, "Good to know." The village would probably be sad to see a merchant go but happy to see strangers go. It was an odd sort of mixed bag of feelings that were had for traveling merchants. They had their uses but nobody minded if they didn't stick around, Herluin was one of them, the man just put him on edge a bit he thought to himself before he headed out of the tend. Once outside he lifted his gaze, looking up at the stars, then glanced over at the merchant, "Tomorrow will be a good time for you to head out, the weather looks like it will be favorable." A window of opportunity like that shouldn't be squandered.
*****
Makani couldn't help but to smile when Lusala said that he would be what he missed most about this place. What a nice thought, that he would be missed. It made him want to hug his friend that much more... and to his surprise he found himself being pulled over into Lusala's lap suddenly. He gave a little squeak at that, leaning into him, before he was suddenly being wrapped up in a warm, sweet smelling scarf. His fox like eyes slid open for a moment, showing their hazy yellow depths, before closing again as he smiled, "It smells nice."
"I can keep it?" He then asked, quite happy with the thought, that he got to keep something so nice and warm, something that Lusala had given him, something that smelled so nice! He would treasure it and take good care of it, he would show Lusala how much he loved it! Giving a smile he said, "I will take very good care of it! I prom... ise... eh?" His eyes went quite wide again, looking more then a little shocked as he got himself a kiss from his friend. How unexpected that had been but nice as well, something that made him lift his hands up, resting them against Lusala's cheeks, before he lifted his head to give him a kiss back.
"I look forward to when you come back!" He chirped happily.
When the tent opened up, letting in a cold breeze with it, he quickly huddled closer to his friend. As he did so Lusala stood, picking Makani up with him, and he held tightly to his friend, breath held... until he caught the familiar scent of his father in the air, "Papa! Look at the pretty scarf!" He chirped happily, lifting the edge of it with his free hand, smiling happily over it.
Herluin looked the two of them over, gave a slight twitch over how close they were, before he said calmly, "It's a very nice scarf indeed." Best to be nice, he didn't want to make Makani sad, not when he seemed to be in such a good mood at the moment.
Such a cute little returned kiss simply delighted Lusala, but he could say nothing else before the men came in. Instead, he took Makani over to where his coats were, to put them back on him.
"Okay, you put those on, and I'll go get your candy, okay?" He ruffled the boy's hair a little, before going back over to his belongings real quick and then returning to Makani's side, placing a large bag of honey candy in his arms.
"And this is for you! Make sure you share with your papa, okay?"
The Master simply stood at the opening of the tent, quiet and giving his son a look that said 'you know you will pay me back every last penny for that'. But he would not mention it tonight, not after such a lovely evening, both of them finding such warm and lovely company.
Makani smiled as he was led over to where his warm cloak had been left, a bit one that his father let him borrow, and had it wrapped around him once more. He lifted his hands up to pet his hands against the warm fur cloak before he found the heavy bag of sweets placed into his hands. He shifted it slightly, getting a feel for it's weight, before a happy sort of smile, "Thank you!" He chirped, hugging the bag to his chest, unable to feel anything but delighted over the fact that he had been given such amazing gifts by such a nice young man, "Thank you so much Lusala, it's been a fun day!"
Turning toward where he could sense his father at he lifted the bag up, showing it off to him, "It's so big, huh? He says it's candy from Sauti! I will share, don't worry, I know you like them too!" He said to his father, only to happy to give him a share.
Herluin's eyes went a bit wide, his cheeks coloring a bit at his son's comment about him liking candy, "Ahh... thank you." He said, giving a little cough to cover his embarrassment before he said, "Now, tell your friend goodbye, Makani, we have to go."
Giving a nod the boy turned, giving a little bow toward the Master first then Lusala, "Thank you both for today! It was really nice."
Ah.. How cute.. The Cute little blush that across Herluin's cheeks was not lost on the Master. He had a penchant for sweet things, huh? He could just bet that the fine man's lips were just as sweet, but unlike his son, there was no real opportunity to try to steal a taste. Instead, he took his own scarf off, wrapping it around Herluin's neck delicately before he could protest. It was a much thicker one, with heavy weaving that was meant to withstand long hours out in the cold, perfect for a hunter.
"Since you both like sweets.. Then your papa can get a scarf too, Little one. It's just like yours, except perfect for your papa. Isn't that exciting, you two match."
Lusala, himself, had no idea what to say about that, trying not to chuckle at the hunter's expensive. Him giving Makani the scarf, it was cute and friendly. The Master doing that with Herluin.. That was just hitting on the man, that's for certain.
"I'll be sure to bring you more the next time I come! And maybe something else from there that you might remember, Makani." Lusala nodded, more to himself than anyone else. There was no way he could forget about something like that.
Herluin went stock still as the scarf was wrapped around him, a scarf that carried the warmth and the secent o fthe man that had been wearing it prior. There was a part of him that wanted to take it off, toss it aside, and tell the merchant that he didn't need such gifts from him... but it was something he couldn't bring himself to do. The man sold it so well, talking about how he would have a scarf just like that of his son. Damn it... bringing Makani into it, the man likely knew that he wouldn't be able to say no after pulling such a stunt. he shifted in place for a moment, forced himself to smile and nod, "I thank you, merchant, it is a fine gift and likely one that will be useful while hunting." As smuch as he hated to admit it he would be able to use such warmth while off hunting the snowy lands of Zena. It was a bother though, the scent of it, but he would do what he could to ignore it.
Makani couldn't help but to squeal in delight, reaching out, finding his father's hand, and gave it a squeeze, "We math now? That sounds fun! Can I feel your scarf? Is it soft like mine? Does it smell like Sauti? Can I sleep with mine on tonight?" He asked a mass of questions of his father in rapid succession.
The man gave a little sigh, scooping his son up into his arms, then said, "Sure, you can feel it if you want, it smells a bit like Sauti, and yes you can sleep with it on. No candy tonight though since it's so late, you can have some tomorrow after you wake up." He decided to tack that on at the end, not wanting Makani to get sugar high right before bed.
Giving a happy sound, he hugged his father tight before turning toward where Lusala's voice was coming from, "Did you hear? I can wear the scarf to bed! My Papa is the best!" He said then nodded rapidly as Lusala spoke of more gifts next time, "Really? That would be nice! Thank you!" He chirped happily.
Herluin looked down at his son a mile before giving a bit of a smile, best that he allow it even if he was a little iffy about it all. He would allow Makani to play with Lusala so long as the merchant made his son smile, the moment he failed at that then he would give the boy a punt to the curb, "We will be off then, thank you for your hospitality, and I wish you luck with clear skies when you head out on the morrow." He said to Lusala and the merchant master.
There was a reason why they called him The Master, that was certain. He could truly sell almost anything to anyone, and even his gifts were forced upon people who would otherwise refuse. All he could do is stand back and grin at the man who could do nothing but let his son think he was happy. Atleast he'd stay in the man's mind for some time now, and that's all he wanted. Maybe the next time they were to meet, he'd be greeted a bit more warmly.
"Thank you for your company, we do appreciate it. Nothing in better than warm friends in this frigged land, I think. Do be careful when you go out into the snow."
~~
Lusala had kept his eyes on the little one in Herluin's arms, missing his little warmth so much already, but what else could he even say about that?
"Your dad is very wonderful, they way you speak of him! I wish you both a good night, and I do hope that I get to see you again soon, Makani!"
Herluin looked between the two Wind Tribesman for a long moment before he nodded his head to them. With that he turned around on his heel, heading out of the tend. It was time to head for home, to get Makani home, and tuck him in so that he could sleep. It had been an interesting day for them both but he was more then certain that it had been an exhausting one as well. His son wasn't used to so much excitement, as such he really wasn't all that surprised when Makani dozed off in his arms on the way back home from the merchant's temporary tents.
The big hunter stepped inside his home, giving one last glance over his shoulder toward where the merchants were, before closing the door behind himself. He'd given them a good deal of his time, more then he would normally share with those outside of the family, and he would need to make up for it by working harder tomorrow. For the moment though it felt as though it had been a good day regardless, especially given the mood it had put Makani in. He only hoped that said mood would last for a while, the boy deserved it.
It wasn't long before Makani was tucked into bed and Herluin himself was on his way there after putting the deck of cards away for later.
