"Warm and wiggling?" Nahm rearranged his scarf to free his jaw and grinned toothily across the table.

Zar cleared his throat again, but no matter how many times he did, it didn't seem to clear his mind, clouded with a haze of very visceral emotions and thoughts he was struggling to get a handle on. "Yssss." he hissed vaguely. Warm and wiggling was about right. Warm and wiggling and his.
He wished he'd brought his notebook, he was getting quite the headache. "Rare is a negotiable alternative."

"Well," Nahm said, and let a claw poke through his glove to tap on the menu, "live requires a little disorganization. Or a very specialized venue." His eyes narrowed slightly with satisfaction.

"..Venues like that don't exist right?" Zar asked, tentatively before realising what he was even saying and wringing his tail anxiously. "I mean. In a purely theoretical sense." He picked up the menu, more to hide behind than anything else. "I am not that sort of crass you know."
Picking up the menu however accidentally took both hands and his tail vanished under the table where it decided to tug at Nahm's robes instead.

"I've never been to one myself," Nahm said. There was a glint of teeth inside the hood. "But I'm assured the best ones are very classy. Some of the cousins do live trapping for a chef an uncle knows."
The tail met no particular resistance, nor any reaction other than a brief glance.

"Really now?" Zar peeked over the menu briefly before vanishing again. He didn't even need to hold it up, simply touching it made the words swim in his mind like schools of very orderly and obedient fish. He could have read it in the dark like Braille. It made a good shield though. "That's most interesting. I should like to visit an establishment like that. For the experience, the ambiance you know."
The tail meandered off in search of an ankle to curl around, he placed the menu back on the table. "Yes, I think I'll have some raw steak. Whatever kind of meat you'd recommend." His own smile was sweet but broad enough to show off even his sizeable canines.

"Given a week or so, I'm sure I could talk my way into an invitation," Nahm mused. "It'd certainly be an experience. An - ah - adventure, maybe." He set his own menu back on the table, and a bored-looking waiter drifted over in their direction, holding a pad and pen in two of a number of tentacles.
"Kraken steak, domestic, blue rare, with ink sac sauce," Nahm told the waiter. A narrow, flexible tail bumped into the thicker one making an acquaintance with Nahm's ankle.

"If you do, I wouldn't mind coming along~ Keep you company. I'm not experienced in adventure but I'm sure I could learn." He looked impressed at the order, his smile broadening. Ink sac sauce. He'd never eaten ink, and he couldn't even begin to think why not.
He blinked as he realised something was amiss with his tail, seeking out Nahm's and slithering around it if he got away with it. "Ahem. Is my. Erm." It was impolite to go looking under tables and all, so he figured he might as well ask.

"I'll be sure to let you know when I manage a trip, then." Nahm leaned his elbows on the table, looking entirely too pleased with himself. "With plenty of time to schedule around it, of course."
Nahm's tail played lazily with the friendly intruder. "It's no inconvenience," the grue said cheerfully.

"Please do." he said politely, looking away flustered again as Nahm waved off his misbehaved tail. Again he tried not to think too hard about it, just tolerated it for the time being, it was only messing with Nahm's tail was all, it kept it out of trouble. He tried dragging the subject off again. "I actually almost got hold of live prey once." he said. "Human live prey. But I let her go."

"Really?" The look in Nahm's eyes sharpened with avid interest. "I'd like to know more. I don't believe I've ever been close enough to a human to catch one. How did you manage that?" He sounded impressed.

"I was in the haunted house." He said, not afraid to recount the tale. "There is a student group that is focused primarily on keeping an eye on the hunters. I entered their ranks initially out of scepticism about the nature of the hunters themselves. Basically, they found out how to re-enter the haunted house. When I got there I was in human illusion - I had only recently gained that particular ability. I found a female one. A hunter." He eyed the table and drummed his claws absently. "I ..convinced her I was a bona fide human. She was at my mercy but I didn't kill her. It was more fun to see how long I could continue the game."

"Fascinating," Nahm said. "I'd love to hear the details." He drummed his claws on the table. "There's a regular way to re-enter the haunted house? That's certainly worth knowing." His eyes gleamed with an interested, calculating expression.

"If you have enough time to waste, there are places in the school to wander where there's a good chance of getting in. Not guaranteed but useful. I had a great deal of time to waste around that time. The risks involved with dealing with the hunters were not a factor either." He didn't fear dissapation, and though he'd been scared when faced with the horror of the weaponisation machine, he didn't enormously fear that fate either. "I generally do not have a great deal tying me to anything." His expression dropped back into the mask of calm, but there was a change in the way his tail petted Nahm's, something more gentle and needy in the gesture he couldn't control.

"Reward doesn't come without risk," Nahm agreed. "I'm sure I can find enough time to waste a little on some exploration." The waiter returned then with a tray balanced on several tentacles and slid two plates of meat onto the table. Nahm picked up a fork, his fanged grin cracking open cheerfully. "Ready to eat?"
His tail tapped lazily against Zar's tail, a conversation not separate from the one going on with words, but not the same, either.
