They definitely were not on the same page.
Sibyl squealed and threw her arms around Gabriel, nuzzling her cheek against the boil. "YAY~! This is going to be the best Scarentine's ever!" Ohohoh! What would they do? Would he take her somewhere fun? Of course he would! She'd never had a date for Scarentine's before! Was it like prom with Aymet? They'd had so much fun dancing!

Oh Jack, what was happening.
Gabby leaned in and pressed his hand to her head. Yes, she definitely did feel too hot. Was she getting delirious? Was that why she was nuzzling him? "Is it?" He murmured hesitantly. "I thought, that you thought, that all my plans sucked." His plans did suck, and that was why he assumed Scarentine's, itself, was going to suck. Why then, was she all excited about it?
"It's going to be kind of weird. I've never spent any holidays, Scarentine's or otherwise, around anyone. Always up in my cave, not a care in the world. This is going to be kind of.. rough." Oh, Gabby. You had no idea.
Since the day he'd woken up as a ghost and separated from the other dragon there, he had, not once, felt any sort of physical or emotional affection. This ghoul, this overly excitable, somewhat naive, impossible to shut up ghoul, was giving him something he hadn't had since.. well, since him.
Gabby fell quiet, and contemplated how a ghost could feel warm and fuzzy inside.

"It's okay!" Sibyl would say nothing about his plans sucking. They were great plans...okay no they weren't but sibyl wouldn't say his plans sucked that would just be mean! She did look curious when he pressed a hand to her forehead, blinking and peering up at the boil through the bangs pushed against her face because of his hand. What? Why was he doing that? "We can have lotsa fun!" She continued her earlier train of thought in regard to Gabriel's worries. "You like caves? That's neat! I like underwater caves. They're pretty! Have you ever been to one? Oh oh and we can have lotsa chocolates and--" The buzzer on the oven went off, startling the ghoul who clung tighter to her new best friend as a result. Oh! Haha, right! "Lunch is readies!" Sibyl announced cheerfully as she released Gabriel and opened the oven, removing the pan and setting it down on the counter. A few minutes later Gabriel was presented with an entire baked fish on a plate: Was it not the single most appetizing thing you'd ever seen, Gabriel? Sibyl looked up expectantly for some kind of praise for an obvious job well done.

Gabby started to wonder if Sibyl actually needed to breathe. How did she say so many words without stopping for a breath? Did her kind of monster have giant lungs or air bladders or something? He actually wanted to ask her this. He was seconds away from interrupting her tirade to inquire when the buzzer went off, and he swallowed his questions with a disgruntled sound. He looked at the prepared fish, his head tilting to one side. "That looks awful fancy." He noted, poking it with a finger. "You know what you're doing, huh?" It led him back to his original question, for different reasons. Why did she know how to cook fish so well? "Say, Sibyl. You said you're a Selkie.. right? Well, like, what exactly is a selkie? I've never heard of it before." Were they some kind of fancy cooking monster that lived in cold and ice? ..His thought process was starting to make no sense.

Fancy! Sibyl's grin widened. "Kind of! I know how to cook fishies and make simple thingies to eat. I like penguins best but thy=ey don't have them here." She actually looked disappointed about this for a moment before perking up again. No sadsies! Nope! None! She wasn't homesick. Totally wasn't. Why would she be?
She didn't miss her brothers and sisters and Marzie's sisters and her parents..nope.
Whoa wait hold up! Gabriel didn't know what a Selkie was?! "We're seals who can shed our skins and look human." She picked at the seal pelt that was draped over her shoulders. "Not like...traditional scary like others but..we tend to break hearts because, unless they steal our skin and hide it from us, we have to leave them after three days and never return...that's kind of scary..to love someone so much only for them to disappear on you and you don't know why." Sibyl's cheery, high-pitched squeaky voice settled into something more calm and mellow. Even her smile became somewhat sad. Sibyl wanted to love everyone but even she felt bad knowing she couldn't love everyone. But she could darn well try!
Visibly shaking it off, Sibyl looked up at Gabriel again. "I can show you my seal form if you want! My family is biiiiiiiiig big seals. With big sharp teeth that go arrarrarrarrnomnomnom!" She even raised her hands near her face and curled her fingers for added effect. Totally menacing.

What Sibyl didn't expect was just how well tuned Gabriel was to the feeling of being lonely. As soon as the moment passed over her, Gabriel felt it, resonating within every fiber of his wispy little body. He frowned, reaching out to pick at her pelt with two fingers. She brushed off her melancholy mood instantly, but it remained firmly implanted within Gabby, because deep down, it was always there. Just waiting to resurface.
"So what you're saying is, you're only going to hang out with me for three days," He murmured, his eyes focused on the tiny bit of pelt he was picking at. "And then you're going to abandon me, too?"
This was what selkies did. Maybe this was what Sibyl had planned, as well. It would be easier to deal with, if he knew it in advance.

The ghoul tensed and jumped back when she felt him picking at her pelt, hands raised defensively and eyes wide and frightened. It was instinct, nothing personal. She calmed down quickly, petting her pelt and clearing her throat. "S-sorry. My mommy taught me to never let anyone take my skin and uh..sorry. Just...um...sorry! Haha. That was silly. You wouldn't steal my skin." She laughed until he implied she was going to leave him.
Sibyl gasped, waving her hands and flailing her arms a little. "NOOO! Nonono! No! Only humans! You're not human. You're a really cool dragon ghost with wispies and stuff!" She threw her arms around the boil again as she had earlier, grinning again like she hadn't been saddened by her own words just a minute prior. "No more sad stuff! I baked Mr. Fishy so you didn't have to eat raw food! Yay!"

That was unexpected. Gabby's hand froze in mid-air when she jumped back, and then it dropped to the ground. Lesson learned - don't touch Sibyl's pelt. He respected personal boundaries really well, even if he was starting to feel more comfortable with people breaking his. This was becoming clearer when he didn't flinch away from the hug that flung itself at him, as she reassured him. He felt a little stupid, assuming her three day quirk applied to everyone she met. It made more sense that selkies did that to humans. But it was just as easy for him to believe that everyone would abandon each other, eventually. That was just how things worked, right? Right. "I thought you baked - okay, giving it a name is making me think it was like, a person, and that eye is now staring at me, so let's not call it Mr. Fishy. I thought you baked the fish so you could eat it. That was the point of the fish." His statement was firm and logical. "I brought you the fish, you eat the fish." His finger pointed at himself. "Hunter," then at her. "Gatherer." ..She hadn't gathered anything. His statement suddenly lost all logic.

The eye bothered Gabriel? Sibyl blinked and looked down at the fish, letting go of the ghost boil to stare into its eye. She was quiet for a long, long moment, deep in thought. It might have looked something like this. She could just pluck the eye out if it bothered him...the eyes were yummy! Wait. Waaaaaaaait wait wait.. Sibyl looked up at Gabriel with a squinty-eyed stare, pouting her lips and looking just All The Suspicious of his intentions here. "I..didn't gather it..." She was a hunter. Sibyl knew the role of hunters and gatherers well. She continued to look skeptical until it suddenly hit her. He'd heard her singing. He must have heard her say she wished her cake had a fish! Oh my Jack Gabriel was amazing. She gasped, a huge smile replacing her little pout. "It was a gift?" Like her daddy would do for her mommy sometimes! He'd bring her a big fat penguin.. for Scarentine's! Oh ho ho. Clever boil. She saw right through his ruse now. Sibyl squealed and clapped, bouncing on her toes a bit. So much trouble just to ask her to be his date for Scarentine's! She was right! He was amazing!
