Ami scowled at the insult to Marcus. It was obviously in jest, but Marcus was a good friend, and she had never thought of his as a sourpuss. Maybe a mopeypuss the last time she'd seen him, but from what she'd heard he was doing much better. Even without Cass.
"I'm ... not sure. We haven't made plans. I'd enjoy her company, but now that she has her weapon back they're reinstating her room. I don't think she'd want to stay with me. Especially for Valentine's day. It'd be a bit lonely for her, I think." Oh s**t. Valentine's day was coming up wasn't it. A slight shiver went through her as she recalled memories.
She hated this time of year.
Anything was better than May, though.

Lex gave a little grunt of acknowledgment, sitting on his bed and stretching his left side - the unhurt one. Valentine's day had never been a special thing for him - it honestly just meant more champagne served than usual, more desperate and lonely hearted girls, and one of the rare times he had to bail before the girl woke up. He'd learned that lesson the first post-Valentine's morning; she'd started talking about marriage.
"Wait - are you doing something for Valentine's day?" His attention was piqued. Ami was a pretty lady, certainly. But they'd recently had that whole conversation about her unrequited feelings for Wilson...
Maybe she was over it?

As Lex sat down, Ami remained standing, rigid as ever. Her arms held her sides uncomfortably. "No. Which is why I feel bad for Kat. I highly doubt she wants to spend the day in the labs with me." Ami gave a light smile at the idea anyways. It would've been nice to have a day to themselves. Living together was fun, but it wasn't the same as doing something together for fun.
"She probably has something to do though," Ami said quickly. She couldn't impose that Kat would have nothing to do. In fact, Kat more than likely already had plans. "She's a social butterfly, that one."

"True, very true." Lex remarked about Kat, having seen just how many people were close to her. Probably some kind of shopping trip, or at least grabbing a cup of coffee with Ceres or another one of her good friends.
Wait... Ami would be alone on Valentine's day? That really didn't seem right to the brunette man. Silver eyes narrowed in thought, hemming and hawing mentally. Should he...? Well, it wouldn't hurt. They were friends, both without plans for 'V-day'. It couldn't hurt to do something.
"How about you don't spend Valentine's day in the labs? We could take a day off, go somewhere exciting." He smiled as he suggested the little date. "No one should be alone on the day of love - it's no fun."

Ami's spine went rigid as her mind pieced together the fact that Lex was asking her on a date. Was she flattered? Of course. Was she ready? No.
"I-"
< Yes. >
"-don't know."
It was a coward's answer, but it was her answer nonetheless. Regardless of whether or not she liked Lex (to which Junpei was screaming in her head about), she'd been out of "the love game" for a long time, for a myriad of reasons. Suppose he got her hopes up, and then dashed them? Suppose he was adulterous? There were too many risks, too many guards she'd put in place for a simple yes.

<< Ha, I knew she'd shut you down. She's well aware of just how pathetic you are, Whelp. >>
< I don't know isn't no, you oversized canary. It's I don't know. >
<< Believe what you will, sack of flesh. >>
Smiling, Lex shrugged as if it were no big matter. He'd had women say no and I don't know to him before, and he could deal with it. He dealt with it by turning both statements into a yes, or just letting the sleeping dog lie.
He really didn't want to see someone he was relatively close to alone on Valentine's day. Time for the power of persuasion.
"Well, I'd honestly hate to see anyone alone of Valentine's day. But, it's up to you when it all comes down to it." He remarked stretching his other side very slowly and tediously. "I just hope no one decides to drink themselves into a lonesome stupor - or worse, a lonesome frenzy. New Year's 2.0 wouldn't be too fun, in my opinion."

The moment she said it, she felt bad. She'd picked her words incorrectly, and Ami hated doing that. Her indecisiveness had nothing to do with Lex, but everything to do with herself.
She was surprised to see that it didn't matter though. A shrug and a smile, and he was over it. She might have felt a bit ... hurt even. So she was that easy to brush off.
"Where would we go?" she asked quietly.

< Nailed it. >
<< How?! >>
< Charm and good looks, for the most part. Appealing to her nature works really well, too. Plus, you know, the fact that I care about her well being. >
<< I will never understand human women. >>
Smiling broadly, Lex pushed his hands behind his back to stretch his chest out. "The Carribean? It'd be nice and warm, and we could see some actual sunlight and an actual blue ocean." He suggested wistfully, grey eyes twinkling with the images. Blue water...wouldn't that be something.

< So does this mean- >
"That sounds nice."
< That you- >
"I could make us food? Or ... I don't know, what would you like?"
< LIKE HIM? >

"Like a picnic? That'd be astounding." Lex smiled, finishing his stretches and laying down on his back, shirt lifting ever so slightly as he propped his head up with his hands. "It's a date, then?"
<< How?! How!? >>
< Because, Squawker, the pen is mightier than the sword. >
<< ...did you just make a joke? >>
< That's up to you. >
