Kleos & Moriath Agility: +3 HP: 77/77 +5 to burn dice (Wingleader) ------------- Moriath called to her rider as she flamed down another clump from the first onslaught. Kleos replied, her mental voice ringing with frustration and worry. There was nothing to be done about it though.
Moriath replayed swiftly. Twisting to avoid a clump of Thread the scarred crimson roared and let out another jet of flame.

The second wave of thread came quickly..almost too quickly. D'lin barely had time between waves to check in on the condition of those who were wounded and take a general survey of firestone levels. There were new riders in his wing today and Plexith had already informed him that they had taken some damage. It was minor however and the newly minted riders were continuing.
Still that first experience of thread scoring could be jarring and he made a mental note to check in on them once it was over. 'Another Wave Gale Stalker's, look sharp!' Plexith encouraged the wing at D'lin's prompting. 'Keep to formation and watch your stone levels.' He further added even as he launched his own attack on the incoming strands. The first few to reach him were a scraggly lot..but D'lin took his own advice and kept his eyes sharp, thread had a way of increasing quickly once it started.

So far so good, for once her wing seemed to be working together quite well and injuries had been minimal. Still she wasn't about to take anything for granted and when her wingleader called out that a second wave was approaching Eliza hastily fed Velath another chunk of firestone before the strands reached them. 'That enough?' She asked, her eyes casting worried looks towards the swiftly approaching thread as Velath chewed.
'yes..I am ready' The green confirmed opening her jaws to let loose the flames just in time.

Ca'mil and Cheryth were flying well, the wing was operating well and all in all things were going smoothly. The newest riders in the wing seemed to be operating under the wings rules and although there had been injures...they were not overly serious. Injuries were just to be expected in threadfall. No sooner had this thought crossed her mind of course then the second wave was upon them and Cheryth rolled to the side, flaming strands as she went before suddenly blinking between as a stray attempted to tangle on her wingtip.

'Are you alright?' Ca'mil asked as they reappeared back in position. Twisting slightly she attempted to survey the damage to her partner, but Cheryth wingbeats..sure and steady despite the scoring did much to relieve her. 'I am fine, it was just a graze..barely even took any hide off.' The crimson replied firmly.

The Fall was brutal and N'mol was well aware that unlike a Fall over empty jungle, if any Thread was allowed to slip through there would be Holds dying.
Tyeth stayed firmly in formation, moving only to avoid Threadscores from rogue bits of Thread, keeping up a strong flame as a way to be a good example for his wing. The various Falls they had been in since he and N'mol had won the position of Wingleader had helped both of them grow immensely as riders and leaders.

It was their first time in the air and for all that O'thor had drilled with his new wing and knew he knew the formations, it was still nerve-wracking to be up in Threadfall.
They appeared ahead of the leading edge of Threadfall and the first wave of Thread passed in a blur. Even the space between waves wasn't much of a pause, throwing the young rider and dragon headlong into the next. It was Adamanth's quick-thinking and confidence that saved them more often than not, as O'thor's penchant for over-thinking a situation would have led him to give directions too late, in many cases, for them to avoid being Scored.
Adamanth, his second stomach full of firestone, let out a great jet of flame, searing through a giant clump dropping toward them.
Do not worry. It will become habit to us in time, O'thormine, but you must watch out in the meantime. Follow the formation and do not think about it too hard.

Tyeth swept his head around again, flaming the silver menace away from him and his rider. This wave was thick with clumps of the tangled, writhing mass. It was going to be heavy casualties.
Two Greens have returned to the Weyr with injuries. Several more report the need for more firestone.
Contact the Weyr. Let them know we're running low so we can get replacement stone. Have the dragons near the empty places fill in if they haven't already. Watch that.
Tyeth had already seen the Thread slipping by and took care if it with a quick, efficient breath.

O'thor and Silver Adamanth - Gale Stalkers Wingrider

The shock of being hit with Thread startled an unusual bellow out of Adamanth and he jerked out of his place in formation as he attempted to shake free the silver strands burrowing into the flesh of his front leg.
Go between! O'thor commanded and the Silver, writhing slightly with the unexpected pain, followed his rider's command.
O'thor made sure to keep their place in the air firmly in his mind for the terrifying moments they hung in between. Even if Adamanth was distracted with his injury (which was always a possibility), O'thor didn't want them to become lost between because neither of them had held the concept of a place firmly in mind. That sort of ending was not one either of them was ready for.
When they reappeared and O'thor immediately leaned over in the saddle to see the damage, he got his first look at what frozen-charred thread looked like. The gray menace had gone dark and, as Adamanth vigorously shook his front leg while flaming the sky ahead of them in an almost paranoid way, it flaked and broke away, dropping toward Pern.

It hurts, but I will continue flying. I do not want to leave our post; the Greens and Blues are tiring. They will need those of us who are larger to keep an eye on the Thread.
O'thor frowned, but said nothing, trying to determine if the wise choice would be to return to the Weyr, or tough it out for a bit longer and then request permission to return.

Just as the thread was starting to ebb off, a fresh wave rained down on them, filling the sky anew with silvery tendrils. Naturally, J'nes and Hatteth rose to meet it with renewed vigor.
Hatteth was feeling quite satisfied with himself now, and eagerly aimed for the largest cluster he could see. A burst of flame later and it was gone.

Unfortunately, in Hatteth's eagerness he'd forgotten basic caution. While he was focused on the large clump, a smaller collection swept in from the side. He gave a short bugle of pain before winking between.
Are you alright? J'nes said worriedly. They'd been doing great so far, and Hatteth had yet to be threadscored in his life.
When they reappeared in the sky, Hatteth craned his neck to look at the damage. It is minor, just along my side, he said. I can still fly. Though I expect Hyweth will not be happy with me, he added as he turned to focus back on the Fall.

Moriath called as she let out another strong jet of flame. A couple of riders reported low stocks and she quickly organized them to take turns in taking on more.
With this done she turned her mind to her fellow wingleaders. A weakness in any of their wings could put all of the others in danger not to mention those they sought to protect.
