The word "lacerations" earned a second, intent look from Red. It could bleed? To her it looked like it was a construct of bandages and bone, and nothing more. Red couldn't help but to chide it. "You have been a student of Amityville for many years. By now you should know that Amityville is vastly more... exciting than any other place. It would be ideal to carry a kit with you for any situation, or to sew a smaller kit into your sleeve for ease of access." She tilted her head to one side, considering. "You with to study Insanity? To what end?"

"Not... not just Insanity, but all the maladies similar that can befall us... or perhaps malady is the wrong word." It opened its beak a little, in a slight smile. "One being's curse can be another's blessing, after all. It is all a matter of perspective... but I want to know. About the core. I came to Amityville in part because I had a desire to pursue knowledge that was forbidden in my home. It seems... hah... that I have a taste for such things..." It felt that it was rambling, but wasn't sure quite how to stop. "To the end of offering solace to those for whom Insanity is less a blessing and more a curse, should they so desire." It was clear that it did not wish to offend Red again; perhaps it too was beginning to think more broadly about Insanity, even now. "To the end of understanding it... that it may no longer be a weapon any longer, inflicted on us by those accursed Hunters..."

"An inspiring goal, to be sure." Red replied evenly with a shrug. "But Insanity seems to be caused by something... different. One that cannot be replicated here. There is a touch of joy that is not JOY to it, a sort of happiness found only at the very bottom of despair. It is the hollow feeling of freedom, the sudden sense of --" She stopped, hand raised. "Perhaps I am wrong and that similarities may be found elsewhere. There is a certain push here that keeps the Insanity at bay. It feels quite a lot like being herded, forced in a specific direction. And I don't like it." Her voice dropped to a growl. If she had wolf-ears they would have flattened against her head, fur bristling. Instead the air around her seemed to grow thicker, darkening as Insanity gathered around her like a second skin. "A weapon is nothing more than a tool. Ultimately it is the wielder who decides what is good and what is bad. Your tools, your scalpels -- you use them to aid in healing when needbe, yes? What, then, to the person that those very same knives are thrown at? Those very tools are no longer good when they seek to strike at Fear aren't they? Or can they be considered beneficial and benign because you the wielder claim to be working in the best interest of all involved parties and are therefore no longer a malady?"

"I... I do, si. But they are also weapons, when used as such. I would say - it is not just the wielder who decides, but also the target. Is it not so in healing? The one who is healed is the one who determines if there is, in fact, healing done and not harm?" ... It was reasonably sure that made sense. Its grip on the table tightened once more. It felt strange, almost feverish. Or what it imagined feverish to be, as a concept. Hah.

"Then is it your right to call Insanity a weapon?" Red persisted, gesturing at it. "When you yourself claimed it was an infliction, and thus something that is not desired when, in fact, it has opened up a new pathway? A new trail to explore fraught with its own dangers and risks, yet yields its own prey and rewards?" The professor relented, crossing her arms as she returned to the previous topic. "It is expected that one who heals aids to the benefit of another. There is an unspoken trust, an expectation that the potion given wasn't poison."

"I fear that it has been used as such, by Hunters... I do not know how it befell my Riley, you see," Malodore admitted. "Only that she was attacked by the Master-Hunter. As were you. For the longest time, I thought that it was such a thing. Something inflicted deliberately to destroy us..." Its words trailed off, and it shook its head even though doing so made the room spin a bit. "Yet I now now that hypothesis to be incorrect, and my knowledge to be horrifically incomplete. But I fear that... that the Master-Hunter, and those beneath him, could use it as such. To kill. And those who... who became Insanity, they deserve better... than to be used." Its wings rustled for a moment. "Forgive my inept terminology, professore - for a long time, I saw the Insanity only as a 'disease'. I knew no better. I am... working to reconcile this new data into my mind."

The word "Master-Hunter" brought a snorting laugh from the professor. "Master-Hunter? He makes himself out to be their master, but in truth he isn't. He is... their princess." She grinned at her own private joke, filling in the silence with her snicker. Her mirth faded as Malodore spoke again. "Aye, but while you and others seek to end it, myself and others seek to use it to our advantage. Don't balk when you scent something new. It's okay to go off and forge a new path. Just don't be surprised when something turns around and bites back." "Now," She placed her hands on her hips, eying it critically. "Do you think you are well enough to stand on your own feet? Or would it please you to continue to clutch at the table?"

"I will remember that," Malodore said, bowing its head. "I will not be like-" It clapped its beak closed. Red didn't need to hear about its family... it must be more out of it than it thought. It took a deep breath, for the calming effect, and re-assessed its condition. "I think, perhaps, I should go and rest," it said, carefully. "I wish to learn, to understand - I do, truly. I thank you for introducing some new truths to my mind... and for all you have done for Jericho and others, professore... but I am not at my best, now, and I feel my incoherence does you a disservice."

Its words brought a sharp look from the professor. There was no denying the curiousity and the fleeting look of distrust she gave it. She shrugged, then waved absently. "Then seek out shelter and rest, regain your strength. Fear for me ever burns, but for now I will be well enough. Go now, and be wary of those you trust."

Malodore nodded gravely to her - bowing, at this point, was really out of the question. "As you say, professore. Go well." Marushii think that's a wrap yes C:
