Her wording caught his attention. And for a moment, Jericho jumped trying to see if he could fly. As one might expect, he just landed right back onto the ground. He had no wings. What the Jack Frost was she talking about?
"... Do I have a reindeer?"
That had to be the answer. But he soon shrugged it off as they were getting ready to go. Good. He was starting to overheat in this sweltering room. Looking up, he smiled and patted her on the hand.
"Don't worry!"

Was he trying to comfort her? It was both endearing, and a little silly. She was just glad he agreed, as she led him out into the courtyard.
No reigndeer. Let's just say you were different, once. You didn't need anything to fly but yourself - you were.. magical.
That was a good way to explain it to an elf, she figured.
Now, come into my arms. She held them open. And hang on tight.

Jericho's eyes grew and sparkled at that. Magic? Oh boy! He was going to need to figure out how to regain this magic. Flying sounded really fun. Once they were in the snowy courtyard, he felt more comfortable. Elves were made for this, not... caves with lava.
When Riley opened her arms, he climbed on in and held on tight.
"Ready for take off! ON RILEY!"

Something new, and different, was growing inside of her heart. It was a strange feeling, the way she felt warm when she clung to him, and tried not to smile when he screamed her name. It was like she was trying to make him happy, instead of trying to make him remember his past. It wasn't exactly how she thought she'd felt, before. It was.. really strange. Almost uncomfortably strange.
She clutched her little charge in her arms, and the crystals behind her back began to glow, tightening in formation before they started to move. Their flaps were rigid, and slow. She didn't use the air to fly, her energy propelled her movement. Sure enough, her body began to rise, straight up, into the air. She tilted forward, then back, as the weight of her body began to unnaturally pull her from her straightened position, but she was moving slow enough to counterbalance herself. Flying, for her, was a balance act, not an exercise in propulsion.
When they were a fair height up, she paused, giving the elf one last look. Ready?

Jericho peeked over to see the ground leaving them as they began to rise. She really did use magic to fly! Otherwise she'd be flapping a lot more most likely.
"Woah.." he whispered while staring down as they were now a decent height above the ground. He was starting to feel giddy.
Well. Giddier. There was a sort of anticipation building up within him. They were going to fly! They were really going to fly!
"READY!" he shouted.

No more stalling. It was time to put their lives in danger for an experiment - the best reason to do so. She tilted her body just a little, and her balance shift took over, leaning her forward while her wings glowed harder. They floated horizontally, at a remarkably slow pace for now. She wasn't ready for any breakneck speeds, yet.
As they floated gently in the air, she tested herself. Her balance was holding; maybe having Jericho as a front weight was helping her in that respect. Her speed increased with each minute, but she would go no faster than a bird, lazily streaking across the sky.
You and I, she breathed out softly. Malodore says we owned the skies.

The little elf's eyes were fixated on the ground blow, though the slight breeze of them going through the air was nice. There was something about this... Something... He couldn't really put his finger on it. But he could feel it deep within him.
For now he simply marveled as they floated over the earth far below.
"I'M THE KING OF THE WORLD!" he hollered.

She almost dropped him for being so ridiculous.
But instead, she moved faster, her movement turning more reckless a** he sped up and started to tilt from one side to another. It was there, that she started to feel the faint tinges of unreachable memories as well. She knew she'd been here before, though not like this. She knew she'd been here with him, but their roles had been switched. If she closed her eyes, she could imagine it. But she would lose her focus, and they would come hurtling to the ground.
So she kept her eyes open, and tried to meditate on the familiarity of the moment, hoping for a spark of memory.
None came. She felt so close, but not quite there yet.
Any of this feel familiar to you? She asked quietly.

Jericho closed his eyes as they flew over the lands. He liked this. A lot. He even kinda spread his arms out pretend he didn't have someone carrying him as he soared through the skies.
"It does. I really must have had a reindeer or something before I lost my memory," he said. He seemed pretty insistent that he was always an elf.
"I just know.. that this feels amazing!"

No, dear. Riley snickered, amused at how adamant he was about the deer thing. You had wings of your very own. I know it seems strange now. But you had beautiful, big wings. In fact, and this will strike you oddest of all - you carried me. It was my life, in your hands. And I trusted you as implicitly as you trust me now.
Riley dipped down, feeling the rush of adrenaline and the clutch of fear rising up in her stomach. This, this - she stared down at the tops of trees, and the sight of a lake, just ahead.
This. This..

Jericho squinted at Riley as she explained how things had gone down.
"I. Carried you. I'm starting to think I'm not the only one who bumped his head somewhere!" he said. Yes he trusted her with the flight fully. But... some of the details she told him really did not add up. No matter how big his wings were, for his body, he couldn't really see him carrying Riley. What. Had he acted as a sort of jetpack for her?
"Ooooh hey. There's a lake ahead!"

She couldn't help herself. A healthy bubble of laughter escaped her, a sound that she didn't even know she could make. She started to descend as the lake came into view, still laughing. Yes, you carried me! I promise you, I am telling you the truth.
As they descended, she realized she felt like the lake was calling to her, asking her to land in it - but she wasn't stupid. So she tried to land at the edge, drifting as slowly as possible and floating parallel to the lake's edge, to give herself more time to actually land.
When her feet touched ground, she lurched forward, and stumbled over and over on the rocks, almost dropping Jericho. She caught her footing just in time, and twisted her body so that when she actually landed, she fell on her a** instead. Her arms tightened around the elf, protecting it from the impact, and her eyes closed in a wince as her spine took the brunt of pain.

"You better be! Lying gets you on the naughty list pretty easy you know," Jericho said pointedly. Shaking his head, he watched as they were closing in on the lake, descending. He was almost sad that they were landing.
The landing itself was kinda bumpy. Especially since she ended up falling right on her rear end.
"Yikes! Are you alright?"

Unbenownst to the elf, Riley was permanently on the naughty list.
A moment of silence passed before the pain that bolted up her spine finally ebbed, and she nodded. I'll be all right. I did say I wasn't very good at this. I suppose landing is my weak spot. She finally let him go, and then slid to lie on her back. The lake's edge was right at her side, and the rocks were wet with the rising of water - but she ignored the cold chill those wet rocks and the thin layer of snow seeped into her clothes.
I feel like I've been here before. She admitted finally. But I don't remember it. She didn't have to ask; she knew he had no memory of it, either.

Now that he was released, Jericho stepped into the lake, staring out at the water.
"It's a very pretty lake.." he commented, seemingly in a sort of trance as he looked out over the fairly pristine surface. There was kind of something to it that tugged at him, similar to what Riley was saying.
"Well. It is pretty close to the rest of the area. You might have visited once! I... I think there's a similar lake in Christmas."
That was the only logical explanation of course.
