Name: Friedman's Café Building/Setting type: 20's brick building complete with round arches and white parapets. The side of the building has been painted over in a community-building effort. The inside of the building looks something like this with an upstairs area. Street: 8th St and Sterling Ave. Found in inner/outer city: Inner city, business district Other local landmarks: On the cusp of a public courtyard. Building/Setting purpose: Café that specializes in coffees — not so much teas. Sells: It sells coffee. And a quiet place to study. And occasionally Ms. Friedman will sell some of the strange knickknacks she's collected on her frequent travels. Opening Times: 5:00AM to midnight M-F. 10:00AM to midnight weekends. Owner: Leanne Friedman (NPC) Employees: Jack Mezhevich (NPC), Ana Gutierrez (NPC), Minnie Friedman (NPC), Slate Blackwell (PC) Hiring: Yes — feel free to contact me here or on Discord ( Strickenized#7375 ). Anything more to this setting?: Friedman's has a rustic look on the inside — brass fittings, tables, and saloon-style decorum give Friedman's customers a feel of stepping into a bygone era. While not specifically thematic to western culture, Friedman's sports a very light steampunk note to an eclectic collection of knickknacks that Ms. Friedman herself acquired. The location boasts fully-functioning air conditioning and heating, plenty of seating, and a quieter location upstairs for study purposes. Anyone may choose to sponsor Friedman's online at their website. Doing so incurs a membership of sorts in which the patron receives a free monthly coffee to their specifications. In addition, Friedman's is always looking for journalists to bolster their latest venture — a coffee shop newspaper for a more Austrian feel. The longer they can make someone stay, the more coffees they'll buy. As an OOC note, this setting has value in that the café will serve anyone. The purpose behind being open so late is that powered denizens of DC can grab their coffees to go at an increased rate. The staff won't question your wardrobe choices so long as you don't cause trouble. Any special requirements: If you decide you want to cause powered trouble at this location, please PM/DM me!

Name: Pawnography Building/Setting type: Despite the older building, much of the designwork is done minimalist and modern. A glass front displays wares on either side of the double glass doors. Indoors, the shop is well-organized but cluttered for the small footprint of space. Found in inner/outer city: Inner city, business district Other local landmarks: Within walking distance of a northerly park.
Building/Setting purpose: Pawn shop. Sells: As a pawn shop, many wares are sold from pop culture paraphernalia to historical objects of interest to jewelry to electronics to much, much more. Isaiah specializes in jewelry while Enrique specializes in musical instruments and musical pop culture. As a result, these selections are the largest. Opening Times: 10:00AM to 9:00PM M-F, 12:00PM to 10:00PM Sa, Closed Su. Owner: Isaiah Zähne (PC) Employees: Enrique Vargas (NPC), Melissa Stearns (NPC), other NPC cashiers. Hiring: Yes; Isaiah is looking to replace Melissa as an NPC. Also always looking for drivers to pick up arranged deals. Please contact me via PM or on Discord ( Strickenized#7375 ) if you want your character hired! Anything more to this setting?: Pawnography has been around for a few years now, with Ice having migrated down from NYC. He therefore has on display a variety of items collected from all around the world, as NYC became a hub for unique goods exchange. Over the years, he added many DC resident contributions to his wares. Local business items have begun to turn up in his selections.
Ice is also always looking to make deals for more daring purchases. If someone was looking to get rid of their motorcycle or RV or pinball machine, he's interested. Many of the larger items are either stored offsite in a storage unit or kept in the back of the store.
While Isaiah tries to look the part of an upstanding business owner, he's not completely immune to the allure of fencing. As a result, this setting is open to some low-key shady business deals as well as police investigation.
Any special requirements: The outside of the building is fair game for any powered shenanigans. If you do damage to the building, please let me know so I can have Ice sigh over it. If you choose to do damage indoors, please let me know.
